After a Disabled Alpha Marked a Yandere Female Lead - Chapter 41
Chapter 41: VIP
Jiang Yun’s jawline was tense. She said in a low voice, “As long as I’m here, you can start over at any time in the future.”
Zhu Qingluo laughed inwardly. “It will never end?”
“No, it won’t.”
This promise was completely unreliable. If she followed Jiang Yun’s wishes, there would be repeated “chances” to start over, but they would be meaningless. Zhu Qingluo pursed her lips and said, “But I don’t want to start over.” Her only goal was the present, to protect everything she had.
Suddenly, the air fell silent again. Jiang Yun looked at her for a moment, then leaned in, rapidly closing the space between them. The shadow of her body fell over Zhu Qingluo, the air became thin, and Jiang Yun’s scent grew more and more pronounced, almost making her feel dizzy. Jiang Yun’s black top was off-the-shoulder, accentuating her slender waist. The mottled light fell on her snowy white shoulders, shimmering. Zhu Qingluo subconsciously looked away, unaware of how dangerous the current distance was.
Then, she heard Jiang Yun say in a mocking tone, “Is this an acceptable attitude?” Jiang Yun’s eyes were cold. She looked down at Zhu Qingluo, her long eyelashes fluttering. She was not “normal” right now. Zhu Qingluo thought this to herself, feeling like she was walking on a tightrope, constantly testing the edge of a red line. Her heart was beating fast, but she maintained a calm facade. Her back was pressed tightly against the seat. She hadn’t moved. Her voice was a little hoarse as she said, “Aside from the susceptible period, we’re not supposed to interfere with each other’s lives.”
The next moment, her chin was suddenly grabbed, forcing her to look up. Jiang Yun’s eyes were dark and deep, a brewing storm. Zhu Qingluo’s heart sank. Her mind went blank, her breathing stopped, and a strange fear welled up inside her.
“Now you think it’s too much? I’m the one who gave you the start-up fund for your studio and got you out of the Jiang family. And now you’re sitting in my car.” Jiang Yun saw her stunned face and, thinking she had scared her, relaxed her grip a little. She then cupped Zhu Qingluo’s face with both hands and smiled gently. “Luo Luo, you and I have been inseparable for a long time.”
That’s right, they had long since become one. A light flashed in Zhu Qingluo’s mind, and she finally understood something. They couldn’t coexist. Being by Jiang Yun’s side would only lead to her being constantly drained, ultimately sacrificing herself.
The atmosphere was silent. Seeing that Zhu Qingluo was still not speaking, Jiang Yun’s gaze dropped to her light-colored lips. Her eyes glimmered as her pearly white thumb touched the corner of her lips and rubbed it almost imperceptibly. The light and shadows on them were still, and only Jiang Yun’s slow movement of leaning in was exceptionally clear at that moment.
The next moment, the car stopped. The headlights illuminated the villa’s main gate. The tree branches beside it were bare, and a cold wind blew them, scattering them to the ground. Zhu Qingluo turned her face slightly to look forward.
“What do you want?”
Jiang Yun lowered her eyes, her expression a little secretive. She let go of Zhu Qingluo without a trace, as if nothing had happened. “Go home and get a good night’s sleep. Then tell me what you’ve decided.”
Zhu Qingluo looked at her for a moment. Under Jiang Yun’s gaze, she swallowed the words on her tongue. Then, the car door on the other side opened. Jiang Yun’s expression was a little displeased. She was about to get out when a warm hand grasped the back of hers. Her movement froze. She looked back and saw Zhu Qingluo’s distinct black and white eyes, which weren’t out of place in the dim environment. In this moment, it was impossible to tell what she wanted.
“You’re just going to leave like that?”
“Mmm.” Jiang Yun looked at her hand, pretending not to understand. Zhu Qingluo paused, thinking this woman was moody. She didn’t keep her word. She was about to pull her hand back when the hand underneath hers turned over and held her. Then, Zhu Qingluo was pulled into Jiang Yun’s embrace. In a flash, she was out of the car. Jiang Yun silently picked her up, and without a single word of banter, placed her back in her wheelchair. When Zhu Qingluo’s hands touched the cold metal of the armrests, she could still faintly smell the hot scent from Jiang Yun. But it quickly dissipated as Jiang Yun turned and walked away. She looked at Jiang Yun’s back, feeling a little dazed. A gust of wind rustled the trees, and a sliver of moonlight illuminated the winding path. Soon, Zhu Qingluo followed.
When they got back, Jiang Yun quickly disappeared. Zhu Qingluo also sensed a coldness in the air. Instead of worrying, she thought about something else. Even if Jiang Yun’s wishes were the opposite of hers, she still wouldn’t sell her studio, so the outcome would not change.
An hour later, Zhu Qingluo wheeled past the living room and went to the kitchen island. She opened a cabinet. She took the medicine bottle out of her pocket and put it inside. At that moment, she felt a brief sensation on her skin, as if a gaze had lingered on her. Zhu Qingluo’s hand froze. A chill ran down the back of her neck, but when she looked up, she couldn’t find any trace of anyone.
All of this was seen by another person. Behind Zhu Qingluo, on a staircase above and to the side, a figure stood in the shadows. Jiang Yun’s eyes were dark. Even the slightest hint of light had disappeared. Her face was a little pale, and a faint blue vein showed on the skin of her long, elegant neck, as if she were trying to suppress an emotion. The aura around her was low and even became cold and dark. Jiang Yun didn’t look away for a long time. Not until Zhu Qingluo turned around, opened the cabinet again, and put the bottle inside. Zhu Qingluo paused, then took the bottle out. Seeing that no one was around, she left.
…
The night was cool. Zhu Qingluo was in her room. She couldn’t sleep, so she sat up and looked at the blueprint in front of her. The events of the day replayed in her mind. She was waiting to see how Jiang Yun would react when she found out that she had put medicine in the alcohol. The fact that she had seen her but hadn’t confronted her or threatened to kick her out was something she couldn’t understand. The blueprint in Zhu Qingluo’s palm was still pristine. She turned a page and saw a half-finished design, the ink just dry. Could Jiang Yun endure even this?
Before long, as Zhu Qingluo was about to get ready for bed, the butler came and asked her to go to the study. “What is it?” she asked, opening the door halfway. The butler looked a little troubled. “You know in your heart. You don’t have to pretend you don’t.” Zhu Qingluo’s eyes narrowed as she looked at him. The butler seemed stricter than usual, but due to someone’s orders, he didn’t say a single harsh word to her. It was strange. But Zhu Qingluo didn’t ask any more questions. After the butler delivered the message and left, she put on a jacket and went out of her room.
Ten minutes later, Zhu Qingluo arrived at the study. After a moment’s thought, she slowly pushed open the door.
“Close the door,” a voice from inside said.
Zhu Qingluo was a little surprised, but she closed the door behind her. Jiang Yun was sitting behind the desk. Beside her, a bouquet of vibrant flowers with small dewdrops on their petals gave off a pleasant scent. Her expression was normal, and her eyes held a hint of laziness. The night wind gently blew, moving a strand of hair in front of her. She looked up, her gaze falling precisely on Zhu Qingluo.
“You came so quickly?” Jiang Yun said, the corners of her lips turning up.
“I figured if you were looking for me, it must be important.” Zhu Qingluo slowly approached her, her voice calm.
“Is that so?” Jiang Yun looked at her and nodded slightly. However, she didn’t say what the important matter was. The air was silent for a while. Zhu Qingluo waited quietly, feeling a little nervous. The woman’s attitude was what she had expected, but reality was always full of surprises, and what happened next was completely out of her control.
“Don’t you understand yet?” Jiang Yun leaned back in her chair and closed her eyes. Her tone was very enigmatic.
Zhu Qingluo was confused. “What?”
Jiang Yun said, “Come here.”
The woman’s upper body was a little low as she leaned in the chair, making it impossible to see her face from the opposite angle. Zhu Qingluo waited quietly for two minutes. For a moment, she thought Jiang Yun had fallen asleep. So, Zhu Qingluo slowly wheeled herself around the desk. She subconsciously looked up at the flowers. The shadows of the flowers swayed slightly, and their scent grew stronger. “Jiang Yun?” Zhu Qingluo called out softly. There was no response. After the second call, she fell silent, thinking of Jiang Yun’s strange temperament. She thought this was all a deliberate act.
Zhu Qingluo was in thought when she suddenly looked closely and felt something strange. She reached out and brushed a strand of hair away from Jiang Yun’s face. She saw a layer of crimson spreading across her neck, becoming more and more obvious against her white skin. There was a faint scent of pheromones leaking into the air, the fruity scent of the omega’s sauvignon blanc.
Zhu Qingluo’s eyes were wide with surprise. She said in a low voice, “You… how could you?”
“Why wouldn’t I?” At that moment, Jiang Yun finally spoke again, her voice a barely perceptible huskiness.
Upon hearing this, Zhu Qingluo instinctively wanted to pull her hand back. But Jiang Yun held her wrist. The grip was neither light nor heavy. She turned her head slightly and gently leaned her cheek against Zhu Qingluo’s palm. When she touched her skin, she felt an unusual heat. She didn’t act rashly. She just felt a subtle, tingling sensation as Jiang Yun’s eyelashes brushed against her palm. Zhu Qingluo couldn’t help but frown, and her heart skipped a beat.
Jiang Yun’s fever symptoms weren’t normal; they were definitely not from a natural cause. “What did you do to yourself?”
“I triggered the heat.” Her palm was cool, and Jiang Yun leaned against it for a while, saying in an unconcerned tone, “It’s not a difficult thing for me to do.”
Zhu Qingluo glanced to the side and saw an empty vial in the trash can. No normal omega would do this outside of their susceptible period. It was a form of physical and mental torture. She realized the seriousness of this, but seeing Jiang Yun’s indifferent expression, the air in her chest suddenly grew heavy and suffocating.
Seeing Zhu Qingluo’s silent and hesitant expression, Jiang Yun’s eyes moved slightly. She could see what was on her mind. Jiang Yun’s expression became a little neurotic. She laughed for a moment and then suddenly said, “Do you think I’m crazy?”
Zhu Qingluo’s hands clenched the armrests, and her lips were a straight line. Because Jiang Yun was right. However, due to her own considerations and the tense atmosphere, she didn’t say it out loud.
