After a Disabled Alpha Marked a Yandere Female Lead - Chapter 44
Chapter 44: VIP
Zhu Qingluo looked exhausted and did not respond to her. The window opposite them was blown open by the wind, letting in a sliver of daylight. Dawn had broken. She turned her head, and her vision was blurry. The mental fatigue was overwhelming, and her body felt like it didn’t belong to her. In her heart, she didn’t really blame Jiang Yun. What happened tonight was completely unexpected and beyond Jiang Yun’s control. She had acted almost without reason. She must feel worse about it than Zhu Qingluo did.
Zhu Qingluo lowered her gaze. After a while, she said softly, “Are you satisfied now?”
Jiang Yun lowered her head, a hint of shock in her eyes. She had expected Zhu Qingluo to get angry and turn on her, or even to hit her. Any of those reactions would have been fine, but none of them happened. All she got was this single, calm sentence.
A dull pain suddenly shot through her head. That strange, familiar feeling of mania returned. Jiang Yun held her head with both hands, trying her best to suppress it. Her eyes suddenly burned with a feverish intensity, and her voice was hoarse as she said, “I didn’t want to hurt you. I just wanted to be with you.”
Zhu Qingluo frowned slightly. Once bitten, twice shy. Her own internal alarm bells were ringing. Even though she was indifferent, she didn’t want to argue with Jiang Yun. “You should get up,” she said.
Jiang Yun’s expression froze for a moment. Then she remembered she was still “leaning” on her. She got ready to get up, but as soon as her lower body moved, what was inside came out, accompanied by a subtle, sticky, ambiguous sound. Both of them froze for a second. Jiang Yun’s breathing became a little heavy, but she didn’t hesitate for long. In a flash, she was beside Zhu Qingluo.
Zhu Qingluo wanted to look away, but she caught a glimpse of the scarlet marks on Jiang Yun’s white thighs from where they had rubbed against each other, still carrying the rich scent of pheromones. The air fell into an eerie silence. Jiang Yun leaned down, examining the person on the floor. She couldn’t help but ask, “How do you feel?”
“It hurts,” Zhu Qingluo said truthfully.
“Where does it hurt?” She then saw Jiang Yun reach out, but she stopped before she could touch her face, as if she were afraid. Zhu Qingluo and Jiang Yun looked at each other for a long time. The night had been a blur. Jiang Yun didn’t actually know what had happened to Zhu Qingluo after she returned. A sliver of light from the window illuminated her face, revealing a scabbing wound on her smooth forehead, with a ring of dried bl00d around it.
But Zhu Qingluo didn’t notice it. She braced her hands on the carpet beside her, concentrating her strength in her waist, trying to move back. But even this simple movement was incredibly difficult. The wheelchair was completely broken, the metal crossbar was twisted and deformed, and one of the wheels on the left was missing… Her face turned pale, and beads of sweat the size of peas appeared on her forehead. Her expression showed a hint of pain, and the last bit of strength in her body was slowly draining away. Her hands on the floor had distinct, clean lines and slightly protruding, whitened knuckles, which were instantly pressed back into the ground by her heavy body.
Zhu Qingluo was dazed for a moment before she reacted to the reality in front of her. “I can’t anymore…” This scene was a bit cruel for her. Even the most cold-blooded person would be moved. Jiang Yun’s heart suddenly sank. The hot, restless feeling in her chest was as if it had been drenched in a bucket of ice water, chilling her to the bone. A look of panic crossed her face. She stepped forward and supported Zhu Qingluo. “That’s not true!”
But Zhu Qingluo was slow to react. She just stared at her legs, lost in thought. After a while, Jiang Yun helped her to the sofa. Zhu Qingluo didn’t make any extra movements until Jiang Yun half-knelt in front of her and held her hands. “You said everything would get better. It’s the same now, right?” Zhu Qingluo’s eyes moved, and her attention focused on the woman’s face. Is this supposed to be comforting?
Seeing that she still didn’t respond, Jiang Yun was a little disappointed. She got up from the sofa and went out to make a phone call. About ten minutes later, Jiang Yun’s private doctor, Wei Yi, arrived in a hurry. The sky was just beginning to brighten, and the mist was still swirling in the mountains. Only the occasional crisp cry of a lark could be heard. Wei Yi couldn’t help but yawn as she knocked on the door. She was well aware of Jiang Yun’s physical condition. Aside from her psychological issues, she rarely got sick. However, Jiang Yun’s voice on the phone had been urgent and she hadn’t given a reason. Wei Yi didn’t waste any time. Out of trust in her patron, she packed her things and came over.
When she saw Jiang Yun in person, she was still surprised. Jiang Yun’s face had never looked so terrible, and her aura was cold and heavy, tainted with a faint hint of alpha pheromones. She knew a lot about Jiang Yun, and when she realized this, her expression became complicated. She didn’t say another word and went straight into the study to examine Zhu Qingluo. The floor had been cleaned, and sunlight slanted in from the window. Jiang Yun had changed into a new shirt. At first glance, everything looked normal.
But Wei Yi felt that something was out of place the moment she walked in. She secretly observed and found that the bookshelf behind her wasn’t even. A section on the left was empty, looking awkward. Based on her understanding of Jiang Yun, who was a perfectionist and paid close attention to details, she would never allow such a huge “flaw” in her home. Wei Yi glanced at it, feeling that things were not as simple as they seemed. She adjusted her glasses and said to Zhu Qingluo, “I heard you’re not feeling well. Can you describe how you feel?”
Zhu Qingluo’s head was simply bandaged, and she didn’t seem to have any other external injuries. However, there was less light in her eyes. When she heard Wei Yi’s question, she was silent and just glanced down. Her legs were covered by a thin blanket. “I might have been hurt in a fall,” she said flatly.
The words sounded strange. Since she was already disabled, how would she know if she was injured? Zhu Qingluo’s eyes were dark, as if she were certain of what she was saying. When Wei Yi’s gaze met hers, a feeling of shame rose in her heart. “Don’t worry. Let me check the situation…” Wei Yi then opened her briefcase, took out her tools, and carefully examined her legs. Zhu Qingluo didn’t say a word throughout the process.
The examination ended in silence. Wei Yi looked up at Zhu Qingluo, wanting to say something but not knowing how. “How is it?” Zhu Qingluo asked first.
“Ah…” At that moment, Jiang Yun walked in. She didn’t come close, maintaining a certain distance from Zhu Qingluo. She stood with her arms crossed, half-leaning against the door frame. Suddenly, she glanced at Wei Yi.
Wei Yi immediately felt the pressure. She looked at Zhu Qingluo and put on a serious expression. “It’s not a big problem.”
Zhu Qingluo was confused. “Really?”
Wei Yi nodded and continued, “The injury you feel is just a delusion. During my examination, I found a scrape on your lower back… It was probably caused by a hard metal object.” When she said this, she was puzzled. “Who in the Jiang family would dare to do this to you?”
When the words fell, the air suddenly froze. This time, it wasn’t just Zhu Qingluo, but even Jiang Yun, who was standing not far away, had a strange expression. The answer naturally surfaced. Wei Yi’s face showed unconcealed surprise, and for a moment, she didn’t know what to say.
“Go get the medicine,” Jiang Yun suddenly said. Her jawline was slightly tense. From her angle, she could only see Zhu Qingluo’s back. Zhu Qingluo hadn’t turned to look at her since she entered the room. Wei Yi finally realized the subtle tension between the two of them. She quickly agreed and prepared to leave this “troubled place.” Before she left, she heard Jiang Yun give another order: “Don’t be in a hurry to leave. I have another matter to discuss with you.” Then, Jiang Yun left her sight. Wei Yi’s body paused. She looked at Zhu Qingluo, sighed, and followed her out of the study.
In the living room, Jiang Yun took a medicine bottle from a cabinet and held it in her palm. After a while, she casually tossed it to Wei Yi. “This is…” Wei Yi looked down at it, frowning. It was empty. “You’ve actually started taking it?”
There was no smile on Jiang Yun’s face. Her eyes held a deep sense of gloom. She held a glass of water, twirling it. “I didn’t.” This answer was a little frightening. Wei Yi’s face changed. She couldn’t help but examine her from head to toe. It seemed that for some reason, her symptoms had been alleviated. “What on earth happened?”
“I didn’t realize it at all. It was like any other day… I didn’t want to do that, but I didn’t even have time to think about it.” Jiang Yun’s voice suddenly stopped. A deeper darkness appeared in her expressive eyebrows. She had only wanted Zhu Qingluo to see the situation clearly and that only she was a reliable person to depend on. But the situation had gradually spiraled out of control.
“Now that it’s come to this, Miss Jiang, you don’t need to blame yourself too much.” Wei Yi was also in a serious mood, as she was facing a much more difficult problem. “Besides, theoretically, although you are now safe and sound, we may need to re-evaluate your health indicators.” After all, this was an unstable factor. If not handled properly, it could happen again in the future. Moreover, Wei Yi sternly warned her not to come into contact with people or things related to her episode and that it would be best for her to recuperate for a while. Fortunately, Wei Yi had enough professional skills to provide her with a treatment plan during her recovery, but this would require a lot of time and effort. She would need to be “abstinent” for at least the next three months.
“What do you think?” Jiang Yun put down the glass, frowned, and looked at her. “It’s not convenient. I just saw Li Wusi, and there are still some matters that need to be resolved urgently.” Wei Yi was a little surprised. However, whether this was her true feeling or if there was another reason, Wei Yi didn’t expose her lie. Wei Yi adjusted her glasses and said with regret, “Alright. I hope you will reconsider.”
Jiang Yun nodded slightly. Her attitude was particularly indifferent. She didn’t seem to take this matter to heart, or perhaps she didn’t see it as a “bad thing” at all. At least, it hadn’t been to her before Zhu Qingluo appeared.
Jiang Yun closed her eyes. Zhu Qingluo’s back appeared in her mind. Her heart suddenly tightened, as if it were being squeezed by an invisible iron hand. “Can her legs still be cured?”
Wei Yi was bending over to close her briefcase. A crisp click sounded in the air. At the question, her movements stopped, and her expression was stunned. She couldn’t help but look up and saw Jiang Yun’s cold expression. An invisible pressure immediately descended on her.
“Just say what you mean,” Jiang Yun said impatiently.
Wei Yi’s face was serious. She picked up her briefcase, walked to her, and carefully chose her words. “In that case… why don’t you tell me exactly what happened back then?”
