After a Disabled Alpha Marked a Yandere Female Lead - Chapter 48
Chapter 48: VIP
From this angle, Zhu Qingluo couldn’t see Shen Siya. Her eyes, starkly black and white, stared at the woman in front of her. She didn’t speak for a long time.
“Why are you back by yourself?” Jiang Yun asked, a slight arch to her brow.
She hadn’t noticed Zhu Qingluo’s strange behavior. The nurse she had seen taking Zhu Qingluo out was no longer by her side, which was a clear dereliction of duty.
“Oh, I felt too hot, so I told the nurse to go on with her duties,” Zhu Qingluo said.
Jiang Yun lowered her eyes, her gaze on Zhu Qingluo’s face. Her fair forehead had a slight sheen of sweat, and her complexion was a little rosier than before. But the temperature outside wasn’t high; in fact, the weather was quite pleasant today. Even so, Jiang Yun took out a handkerchief and leaned down to wipe the beads of sweat from her face. Her movements were meticulous, without any other thoughts. Zhu Qingluo couldn’t help but hold her breath, watching Jiang Yun’s face so close to her own. She should be used to it by now, seeing it every day, but she was still taken aback by such a stunning beauty.
After a while, Jiang Yun folded the handkerchief and slowly straightened up. Only then did Zhu Qingluo see another face, serious and solemn, slowly appear behind her. Shen Siya was clearly unhappy with her presence, as if she had interrupted their conversation. “We haven’t finished talking. If it’s convenient, I would ask Miss Zhu to wait outside,” she said in a formal tone. As she spoke, Shen Siya’s eyes were fixed on her, her heart already filled with suspicion.
Zhu Qingluo’s eyelashes were lowered, and her expression was unreadable. Her fingertips pressed against the wheelchair’s armrest, and a slight pause fell over the quiet air. Jiang Yun’s body remained still, but she didn’t follow Shen Siya’s words. “I’m not at ease. Let her stay,” she said.
Zhu Qingluo is only disabled, not a three-year-old child. Shen Siya was surprised. She looked at Jiang Yun’s profile. The intense gaze and smiling expression were a far cry from the person she remembered. Could a person change so much in just three years? Thinking this, a gloomy cast fell over Shen Siya’s eyes. She shook her head and chuckled, “Even if you’re not at ease, you can’t possibly guard her forever, can you?”
Suddenly, Jiang Yun fell silent. Zhu Qingluo felt the atmosphere was strange. The two people in front of her were speaking in riddles, and she was caught in the middle. What had they been talking about? It seemed they had a disagreement. Filled with curiosity, she observed for a while. It was clear that Jiang Yun was respectful towards Shen Siya. She lacked her usual casualness, and her tone and expression were unfamiliar to Zhu Qingluo. But Jiang Yun’s unexpected seriousness, in stark contrast to Shen Siya’s elegant demeanor, was particularly captivating. Perhaps it was a specific attraction between them. She felt that Jiang Yun and Xie Ke were not on the same level, but this pair in front of her was especially “passionate.”
“Why can’t I?” Jiang Yun said in a low voice, a hint of melancholy in her brow.
Zhu Qingluo was too far away to hear clearly, but Shen Siya’s expression was odd, as if she had heard something incredibly naive. Shen Siya suppressed the anger in her chest and took a deep breath, not wanting to have a conflict with Jiang Yun on the day of their reunion. “Pay attention. We’re talking about serious business now,” she said, raising her voice and bringing the conversation back on track. “Since you brought her here, you should be rational and consider the long-term.”
Jiang Yun’s expression showed a hint of impatience. “How long do you want her to stay?”
“Half a year at the least, three to five years at the most.”
That’s too long. The thought of not being able to see Zhu Qingluo during that time made Jiang Yun’s heart restless, making it difficult for her to make a rational decision. “Let me think about it,” she said, turning away.
Shen Siya’s expression wasn’t good. She could see right through Jiang Yun’s thoughts. Her gaze went over Jiang Yun, landing on Zhu Qingluo’s half-obscured outline. She couldn’t believe that this half-crippled person had made Jiang Yun so indecisive. This person was a completely negative factor to her. As an outsider, Shen Siya believed she had the clearest view. She couldn’t let her most prized student be led astray like this. A cold glint flashed in her eyes, gone in a second in the dim light. She no longer tried to persuade Jiang Yun but said to her seriously, “Alright. But for the next week, let her stay in the sanitarium. Otherwise, everything else is off the table.”
Zhu Qingluo felt the air around her turn cold and stiff. The coldness even spread to her. She felt goosebumps on her arms. Someone was constantly staring at her. Thankfully, Jiang Yun was in the middle, or Shen Siya would likely have rushed over and grabbed her collar, demanding, you’re the one who made her turn her back on me!
For a person like Shen Siya, the difference in their status prevented her from expressing her feelings, but as someone who wanted to create a “perfect” student, she couldn’t allow anyone to influence Jiang Yun’s decisions. In this situation, Zhu Qingluo knew that continuing her treatment at this sanitarium would be a nightmare. She couldn’t tell Jiang Yun the reason; given Jiang Yun’s trust in Shen Siya, she would just dismiss her words as lies.
For a moment, her mind raced, trying to come up with a good way to escape. Just as she was thinking, she suddenly heard a commotion, as if a large number of people had gathered outside. A nurse with a panicked expression rushed over. “Oh no, Professor Shen…”
“Why are you running? That’s undignified!”
Under Shen Siya’s reprimand, the nurse’s face paled. She quickly stopped and respectfully came before her. “What is it?” Shen Siya asked.
“Professor Shen, Patient 009 suddenly went crazy outside and hurt several people. We’ve tried our best to stop him.”
Shen Siya was buttoning her white coat. She paused at the last button and looked at the nurse with a terrifying gaze. The nurse shivered. She pulled her coat tight and cursed under her breath, “Idiot.” Shen Siya probably had more to say, but she knew what was more important. If the trouble outside wasn’t dealt with in time, it would cause even greater backlash from the patients’ families. She glanced at the two of them and followed the nurse out.
Catching Shen Siya’s gaze, Zhu Qingluo felt a sense of foreboding. She remembered a seemingly casual question the professor had asked during her examination: These hands must be very important to you, right? In this moment, she felt like the other person really wanted to cut off her arms.
Zhu Qingluo was lost in thought when her cheek was suddenly cupped by a hand. A cool fingertip pressed against her jawline, gently but firmly turning her head to face forward. She had to open her eyes, and her field of vision was filled with only Jiang Yun’s face. The woman’s expression was serious, and the end of her voice rose slightly, with a chilling undertone. “Who were you looking at just now?”
“You,” Zhu Qingluo said without hesitation. She spent most of her time observing Jiang Yun anyway. It was just that Shen Siya’s gaze had been too strong to ignore.
“Really?”
“Yes, I was looking at you.”
At her words, Jiang Yun’s face visibly brightened. Her lips curled into a beautiful smile. Then, to avoid any further complications, Jiang Yun led her away from that trouble-filled place. When Zhu Qingluo got into the car, she could see through the window that Shen Siya was still trying to calm the patients down, but the sounds of quarreling continued to rise and fall. Perhaps it was the accumulated resentment from years of being confined to this place finally exploding. From the nurses’ voices, she could hear keywords like “missing medication” and “patient running away,” making it difficult to figure out who was to blame. In the end, she didn’t know if Shen Siya had resolved the matter.
Their car turned around and slowly drove away from the edge of the crowd, disappearing from the gate in no time.
Night fell. Back at home, Jiang Yun brought out the first dose of medicine prescribed by Shen Siya and watched as Zhu Qingluo took it. After she swallowed the pills, Jiang Yun handed her a glass of water. Zhu Qingluo pursed her lips, took a small sip, and then looked up at her.
A smile appeared in Jiang Yun’s eyes. Her gaze lingered on Zhu Qingluo’s face for a while. Suddenly, she reached out her finger and gently pinched Zhu Qingluo’s chin. Seeing the person in front of her get closer, Zhu Qingluo’s heart tightened. There was no one else in the living room, and the atmosphere was hazy and intimate. The scent from Jiang Yun’s body grew more intense, almost seeping into her bones. Zhu Qingluo’s eyes narrowed, and her jawline tightened. “What are you doing…”
In the next moment, Jiang Yun’s body was just inches from hers. As if waking from a dream, Jiang Yun caught herself, stopping the impulse. Her eyes shimmered with a sophisticated charm. Her pale fingers gently caressed Zhu Qingluo’s jawline. Through the thin skin, she could feel the shape of the bone. Zhu Qingluo was unable to move. She felt that this way of touching was… indescribably erotic.
“Get some rest,” Jiang Yun said with a smile. Zhu Qingluo mumbled a reply. Finally, the figure in front of her pulled away. The scent in the air gradually dissipated, but a faint trace lingered in her heart.
As she watched Jiang Yun prepare to turn around, she suddenly had a thought. “There’s something I’d like to ask you to do.”
Jiang Yun’s body paused. Her gaze landed on Zhu Qingluo’s face. “What is it?”
Zhu Qingluo maintained a calm expression so Jiang Yun wouldn’t see through her. A hint of hesitation appeared in her eyes. “I watched the video of the exhibition, thank you. But there was one piece of jewelry that didn’t sell. Instead of leaving it out there, I’d like to keep it myself.”
The price of that piece of jewelry was controversial, so the exhibition decided to return it to storage. According to the rules, tonight was the last day of the exhibition, and it would be transferred overseas early tomorrow morning to be part of another auction. Jiang Yun glanced at the clock. It was eight in the evening. There were less than three hours left of the exhibition. She thought for a while and said in a low voice, “I’ll go get it now.”
Zhu Qingluo nodded slightly, lowering her eyelashes. “I’m sorry to trouble you.”
“This is about you. How could it be a bother?”
Perhaps because she had just taken the medicine, Zhu Qingluo’s face was a little pale, and her eyes showed a hint of fatigue. She coughed softly and said, “I’ll be going back if there’s nothing else.”
Jiang Yun moved to the side, watching as she passed. She didn’t do anything else inappropriate, but her expression was one of reluctant longing. She watched as Zhu Qingluo turned and went back to her room. Zhu Qingluo felt the intense gaze on her back until the door closed. The fatigue on her face disappeared, and she became alert again. Listening to the faint sounds downstairs, she knew that Jiang Yun had left.
Zhu Qingluo spat out the medicine tablet she had been holding in her mouth and threw it into the trash can. Jiang Yun had decided to send her to the sanitarium tomorrow to receive special treatment from Professor Shen. This was essentially a notice to her. Since she knew the road ahead was dangerous and Professor Shen had ulterior motives and was restless, it was impossible for them to coexist peacefully. Therefore, she planned to leave tonight.
