After a Disabled Alpha Marked a Yandere Female Lead - Chapter 54
Chapter 54: A Moment of Truth
This was a no-win question. Zhu Qingluo’s mind was hazy, and she hadn’t quite registered what Jiang Yun was saying. Jiang Yun’s gaze sharpened, and she tightened her grip. “Speak.”
A chill ran down Zhu Qingluo’s neck. She had no choice but to push through her fatigue. After a moment’s thought, she spoke softly, “You wanted to send me to a sanitarium. I had no choice but to leave.”
Jiang Yun’s eyebrows lifted slightly. “You don’t want to go to a sanitarium?” she said, her voice pausing. “Then I can contact Professor Shen and have her find you a more specialized one.”
Zhu Qingluo remained silent, her pale lips pressed together. Jiang Yun’s gaze dropped, sensing her resistance. She gently stroked Zhu Qingluo’s jawline. “What did Professor Shen say to you?”
The grip on her jaw loosened, allowing Zhu Qingluo to turn her head away. Her eyelashes fluttered, but she still didn’t say a word. A flicker of frustration crossed Jiang Yun’s face. Even without saying it, she could feel the distance between them, caused by another person. It was a feeling she loathed.
“With me by your side and Professor Shen’s diagnosis, I can guarantee you’ll have no worries,” she said, looking down at Zhu Qingluo. She gently stroked the top of her head. Her attitude was clear: she believed Zhu Qingluo’s resistance was a form of trauma-related stress. Jiang Yun had no intention of blaming Zhu Qingluo for leaving. Her only request was for Zhu Qingluo to return home when the time came. When Jiang Yun couldn’t find her, she had left her work and come to pick her up herself.
Zhu Qingluo almost gave in to Jiang Yun’s uncharacteristically gentle and encouraging words. Jiang Yun’s respect for Professor Shen’s professional judgment was evident. After a long silence, Zhu Qingluo still looked tired. Jiang Yun took her quietness as a sign of consent.
The sky outside was gradually brightening, the thick fog beginning to disperse. The bottom of the cliff remained calm, with only the occasional sound of insects. Jiang Yun gently released Zhu Qingluo and stood up, building a bonfire. As the flames lit up, the surrounding area grew warmer. The firelight reflected on Zhu Qingluo’s face, restoring her color.
An hour passed. The air remained damp and cold, but with Jiang Yun by her side, Zhu Qingluo felt herself relax. They huddled together, sharing warmth, each needing the other more than usual.
…
A Dangerous Pheromone Surge
Amidst the unexpected warmth, Zhu Qingluo started to feel uneasy. She was getting hot. It wasn’t the fire. She focused her attention on her Alpha gland and realized her pheromones were becoming dangerously potent. Due to her injuries, her control was slipping. Her breathing quickened, and she looked up at Jiang Yun.
From her angle, Jiang Yun’s face was shrouded in shadow, but Zhu Qingluo could feel her burning gaze. A tremor of worry went through her. The air was now thick with Jiang Yun’s Omega scent, a powerful and possessive desire growing with every passing moment. Zhu Qingluo knew it was too late to suppress her own pheromones. She tried to stay rational. She had to ignore the other woman, but Jiang Yun’s scent was already affecting her. Her ears were ringing, her vision was blurry, and she felt a sense of panic.
“What’s wrong?” a voice asked with a hint of a smile. It was sweet, making her heart ache.
“I’m a little hot,” Zhu Qingluo replied, her throat dry.
Jiang Yun slightly loosened her grip. A breath of air came between them, dispersing the intoxicating aroma. But Jiang Yun’s arm was still on her shoulder. The fabric of her jacket was torn, revealing a patch of bare skin, and Jiang Yun’s finger traced it lightly.
“The fever’s gone down. Are you still not feeling well?” Jiang Yun’s gaze was intense, but her actions were controlled, as if she were only concerned for Zhu Qingluo’s health.
Zhu Qingluo took a moment to steady her breathing. She looked down and said in a low voice, “I can’t control my pheromones.” She was being honest. Jiang Yun had to get away before she lost control and did something she would regret.
Jiang Yun was brushing a stray strand of hair from Zhu Qingluo’s shoulder. Her hand paused. She looked at Zhu Qingluo for a long time. She had noticed the Alpha pheromones getting out of control ten minutes ago. She had simply been watching, waiting. Now, the atmosphere was at its peak. Jiang Yun wrapped her arm around Zhu Qingluo, and the fire in front of them seemed to burn even brighter. Their eyes met, and the air crackled with a silent tension.
Jiang Yun’s eyes were filled with a soft tenderness. She leaned down, but instead of kissing Zhu Qingluo’s lips, she kissed her forehead. “It’s okay. Sleep,” she whispered.
Zhu Qingluo’s heart skipped a beat. It was as if a light feather had landed on a placid lake, sending ripples through its surface. She looked at Jiang Yun’s stunning face, unable to look away. Jiang Yun’s eyes lingered on her, and she said in a low, teasing voice, “Or do you not want to sleep?”
If you don’t want to sleep, we can do something else. Zhu Qingluo knew what she meant. “Sleep,” she quickly said. “I’m sleeping.” She tried to move away, but Jiang Yun’s hand on her shoulder held her in place. Jiang Yun rested her head on Zhu Qingluo’s shoulder, taking a deep breath of her scent.
“Don’t ever leave me again, okay?” Jiang Yun whispered.
Zhu Qingluo was about to agree, but Jiang Yun continued, “If you’re not by my side, I can’t promise… I won’t just drag you back and never let you leave again.” Jiang Yun’s voice was muffled against her neck, but the words were clear. It was both a plea and a dark, obsessive threat.
The night was deep, and the wilderness was silent. Zhu Qingluo’s arms were covered in goosebumps. She told herself it was just the cold. She believed Jiang Yun simply wanted warmth. As for the rest of what she had said, Zhu Qingluo decided it was better not to ask. She nodded and gave the simple response Jiang Yun needed.
They stayed that way until dawn. A rescue helicopter appeared, and Jiang Yun, still awake, carried Zhu Qingluo to it. The medics separated them for treatment. As a medic checked on Zhu Qingluo, they noticed her powerful Alpha pheromones. “You must have been holding back for a while, huh?” the medic joked.
Zhu Qingluo didn’t reply. She looked over at Jiang Yun, who was being given a standard suppressor. “Ms. Jiang’s body is very unique,” the medic said. “We can’t find a suitable suppressor for her, but with her willpower, she can handle it herself… it just isn’t a very pleasant process.”
Zhu Qingluo’s Alpha body could handle the overstimulation without side effects, but Jiang Yun had to rely on her own will to keep her Omega pheromones in check. After a brief checkup, Zhu Qingluo’s minor injuries were bandaged, and she went to rest as the doctor ordered.
