After a One-Night Stand with a Seductive Bad Woman - Chapter 12
There was a hanging chair, but Sheng Shubai wasn’t in a hurry to use it.
The air conditioner’s cold draft had already chilled the glass to the bone.
Lu Jia’s back shivered, her shoulders hunching forward as she tried to burrow into Sheng Shubai’s soft, full embrace.
But Sheng Shubai pressed her back against the glass again, letting her body heat gradually melt away the chill.
“Don’t be afraid,” she murmured. “It’s one-way glass.”
The floor was high up.
When Sheng Shubai turned Lu Jia around, she was forced to face the night view of half the city.
There was no escape; Sheng Shubai insisted she open her eyes.
“Didn’t you say you loved C City’s night view? Then take a good look.”
A warm kiss landed on her earlobe, accompanied by teasing whispers that made Lu Jia’s knees buckle.
She was pressed almost flush against the glass, separated only by the thin fabric of her nightgown. The smooth surface offered no grip, leaving her only Sheng Shubai’s arm around her waist for support.
But that only made Lu Jia’s waist feel even more pliant.
Her eyes held the vibrant cityscape at night, her long hair cascading down her slender back before gradually spreading out with each movement.
C City was renowned for its vibrant nightlife. Not far away, in the city center, towering skyscrapers displayed clear characters and patterns on their exterior screens.
To Lu Jia, these images blurred into indistinct patches of color, far less vivid than the dazzling fireworks that erupted in her mind when Sheng Shubai refused to release her and added another finger to her touch.
Before she could catch her breath, the woman pulled her back onto the swing chair for another kiss, leaving her dizzy and disoriented.
Only after returning to bed did Lu Jia finally take the initiative, engaging in a passionate back-and-forth until sleep claimed her. Just before drifting off, she remembered she seemed to have forgotten the purpose of her trip.
Wasn’t she supposed to ask about… Miss Sheng’s relationship with Director Rong?
But she simply lacked the energy to ask.
A nose nuzzled against her neck, drawing her into a soft, intoxicating fragrance. Lu Jia felt herself growing dizzy again.
“Good night, Miss Sheng,” she murmured, quickly falling into dreamless sleep.
Lu Jia woke up from a dream-filled night.
When she opened her eyes, the woman beside her was still fast asleep, her arm firmly wrapped around Lu Jia’s waist.
With practiced ease, Lu Jia located Sheng Shubai’s wrist bone and tried to pry her arm loose, applying a little force. But today, surprisingly, it wouldn’t budge.
Lu Jia paused, startled. Already cradled in Sheng Shubai’s arms, she only needed to tilt her head slightly for her lips to brush against Sheng Shubai’s jawline.
Looking up at the woman, Lu Jia caught a fleeting curve of her lips, a smile that vanished as quickly as it appeared.
“Miss Sheng, I saw you smile,” Lu Jia said, giving up on struggling. She poked Sheng Shubai’s hand with a sleepy voice.
Since their relationship had deepened, Lu Jia knew how delicate Sheng Shubai was in this regard. Though she rarely initiated intimacy, Lu Jia meticulously maintained her already rounded nails, filing them daily to avoid hurting her partner.
Her free edge had grown increasingly short, ensuring that any contact felt soft and tender against Sheng Shubai’s skin.
The poking tickled Sheng Shubai, and she couldn’t help but let another smile tug at her lips. Yet she kept her eyes closed, her voice languid as she said, “Don’t you have no classes this morning? Stay in bed with me a little longer.”
With that, she tightened her grip around Lu Jia, making it clear she had no intention of letting her get up.
It was still early September, but she liked to keep the air conditioning set very low.
Holding a small heater in her arms made her afternoon naps even more comfortable.
“Miss Sheng… Professor Sheng,” Lu Jia called out again, her voice gentle and conciliatory. “I need to send a document to Director Rong urgently. Can I come back and nap with you later?”
Yesterday, after the freshman orientation ceremony, Rong Yi had sent her reference materials in the car.
Lu Jia managed to skim one article but found so many confusing passages that she felt completely stuck. She wanted to ask for clarification in person, but Rong Yi explained that she was leaving for a business trip the next day and asked Lu Jia to compile her questions and send them all together, so she could review them on the plane.
Lu Jia had only finished writing her last question into the document five minutes before knocking on Sheng Shubai’s door last night.
Realizing it was late and not wanting to disturb her mentor, she decided to send it today instead.
Rong Yi’s flight was at 9:30 AM, and it was already nearly 9:00 AM. Lu Jia needed to send the document quickly.
Sheng Shubai opened her eyes, immediately released her arm around Lu Jia, and rolled over, pulling the blanket with her. “Go ahead. I’m going back to sleep.”
The blanket, which had been wrapped around Lu Jia, suddenly slipped away, leaving only a corner. Before she could grab it, it slid off her waist and onto the bed.
After a moment of silence, Lu Jia asked, “Miss Sheng, are you and—”
“Sleeping. Don’t make noise,” Sheng Shubai mumbled, her voice muffled by the blanket she had pulled completely over her head.
“Do I need to come back later?” Lu Jia asked.
After half a minute passed with no response or even the sound of steady breathing, Lu Jia understood: she would have to return.
Fortunately, it was just across the hall. Lu Jia went to the study, turned on the computer, and sent the files. Only after receiving Rong Yi’s reply did she close the laptop and head back next door.
Sheng Shubai was still in the same position, but the blanket no longer covered her entire face. Her beautiful forehead, eyebrows, and eyes were visible, her palm clutching the corner of the blanket, which just barely covered her lips.
Seeing that Sheng Shubai appeared to be asleep, Lu Jia hesitated, unsure whether to get back into bed. After a few seconds of indecision, she considered sitting cross-legged on the other side—though that would mean going back for a blanket.
This woman kept the air conditioning too cold; Lu Jia’s stomach would ache if she stayed in here too long.
The girl moved lightly and carefully, the mattress barely shifting as she settled in. Yet Sheng Shubai’s eyes snapped open. She turned to look at Lu Jia. “You’re back?”
Without her little warm-body pillow, her second nap was shallow.
Sheng Shubai narrowed her eyes, disdainfully tossed Lu Jia’s cartoon-patterned air conditioning blanket to the foot of the bed, then lifted the covers and beckoned her in.
“Why is it so cold?” Sheng Shubai frowned, instinctively hooking her leg around Lu Jia’s calf.
Both were wearing nightgowns, their skin naturally pressed together, making it easy to feel each other’s warmth.
Her knee brushed against Lu Jia’s smooth skin, but she didn’t let go.
From the moment Lu Jia entered the room until her brief hesitation, she had been exposed to the air conditioner’s cold draft for several minutes, making her feel chilled despite the room’s normal temperature.
She let Sheng Shubai nuzzle against her, treating her like a body pillow, and honestly replied, “I’ll warm up soon.”
Her body ran hot; she could easily recover from the chill in a few minutes.
True to her word, she was warm again within minutes.
Sheng Shubai, satisfied, turned her attention to Lu Jia’s affairs. “Did you send out the documents?”
Lu Jia nodded. “Mm-hmm.”
She remembered several questions she hadn’t had a chance to ask. “Miss Sheng, what’s the reason for the tension between you and Director Rong?”
Only now did Lu Jia realize the pattern.
Almost every time Sheng Shubai mentioned Rong Yi, she referred to her as “that one.” Occasionally, when Lu Jia overheard Sheng Shubai discussing matters related to Rong Yi, her expression would turn peculiar, her gaze lingering with unspoken words.
The signs had been there all along; Lu Jia had simply failed to notice.
As soon as the words left her lips, Sheng Shubai pinched Lu Jia’s cheek and gave it a gentle tug.
Sheng Shubai’s tone was nonchalant. “We just didn’t see eye to eye.”
In her early twenties, Lu Jia’s skin was indeed rich in collagen, feeling wonderfully soft and supple to the touch.
Sheng Shubai’s gentle pinch tugged at the corner of Lu Jia’s lips, making it difficult for her to speak clearly. “Why?” she mumbled.
Sheng Shubai smiled and suddenly leaned closer.
Lu Jia froze, her gaze falling into the woman’s mischievous eyes as her delicate features magnified before her.
“Perhaps… she thinks I’m a bad influence, someone who would corrupt a good student like you.”
The words drifted out in a languid, seductive tone. Along with the intoxicating scent, a warm kiss pressed against Lu Jia’s lips.
Sheng Shubai’s kissing skills, while practiced, still couldn’t match the woman’s natural talent.
Lu Jia instinctively wrapped her arms around Sheng Shubai’s waist. As they lay intertwined, their dark hair mingled across the pillow, indistinguishable from each other.
When they finally parted, catching their breath, Sheng Shubai’s hand remained possessively on Lu Jia’s waist.
Her palm burned against the soft skin, kneading with suggestive intent.
Lu Jia struggled to pull her thoughts away from the sensation on her skin.
Snapping back to reality, she remembered Sheng Shubai’s earlier words and earnestly countered, “You’re not a bad influence.”
Sheng Shubai clearly hadn’t expected this reaction. She stared at Lu Jia for a few seconds before her features softened into a beautiful smile. “Really?”
Lu Jia nodded, starting to count on her fingers, but Sheng Shubai chuckled and gently stopped her.
Her thumb traced circles over Lu Jia’s wrist bone.
The girl’s slender frame fit perfectly within Sheng Shubai’s embrace, with room to spare.
Pressing lightly along the inner side of Lu Jia’s wrist, Sheng Shubai felt the pulse and tendons beneath her fingertips, a sensation she found deeply satisfying.
Lu Jia, enjoying the gentle massage, thought to herself, Someone who provides me with endless inspiration and is such a considerate partner in bed—how could she possibly be a bad woman?
They naturally made love again, lingering until nearly ten o’clock, when Sheng Shubai finally woke up completely.
She lazily poked Lu Jia’s cheek. “You get up first.”
Lu Jia obediently rolled out of bed, carefully tucking the vacated half of the blanket back around Sheng Shubai.
While Lu Jia washed up and prepared breakfast, Sheng Shubai finally emerged from the bedroom.
“Your phone vibrated several times earlier. Was someone trying to reach you?”
Sheng Shubai rubbed her temples and pointed toward the bedroom. “It’s on the nightstand.”
Lu Jia placed the yogurt on the table. “Okay, thanks.”
She rarely checked her phone messages, having few contacts on social media. Most people called her directly at home. Only messages from Sheng Shubai and Rong Yi were set to special notifications; all others were set to vibrate.
When she retrieved her phone, she saw a message from Shi Mengxi.
“Xiao Lu, I heard you mentioned Professor Sheng directly to our advisor yesterday?”
“Seriously, those two are like oil and water.”
“I’ve been here for a year, and even though they see each other all the time, they’ve never exchanged a single word. They just brush past each other, eyes straight ahead, like they don’t even exist to each other…”
“Let’s catch up offline sometime and I’ll tell you all the details!”
After reading the string of messages, Lu Jia replied with a simple “Okay.”
When she had asked Sheng Shubai earlier, the woman had been vague, offering only a few cryptic remarks without elaborating.
Lu Jia was curious about the extent of their animosity. After all, she would be working under Rong Yi for the next three years, and in collaborative settings, she often found herself… manipulated by Sheng Shubai.
Offending either of them would make her future prospects rather bleak.
For once, Woody’s emotional intelligence kicked in. Instead of confronting Sheng Shubai directly, she went to Shi Mengxi’s studio that afternoon.
Shi Mengxi had arrived at the academy building early that morning, only to be cornered by two newly enrolled junior sisters eager to gossip. The stories they shared nearly made her jaw drop.
She never imagined that the seemingly demure Xiao Lu Junior Sister could be so… precisely tone-deaf. No wonder Director Rong had worn an expression as cold as an ice block in the car yesterday. Shi Mengxi hadn’t seen her mentor look like that in ages.
Holding her coffee, Lu Jia watched Shi Mengxi pull the curtains and lock the door. Puzzled, she stood up and asked, “Senior Sister, do you need any help?”
Shi Mengxi waved her off, even though she knew the studio was soundproofed, and dragged her chair as far from the door as possible.
Tapping her fingers rhythmically on the table, she carefully began, “To be honest, I don’t know the exact details of the conflict between Director Rong and Professor Sheng. But it seems to have started back when they were students.”
Lu Jia nodded. “I heard it was during their undergraduate years.”
Shi Mengxi froze. “Where did you hear that?”
She only knew the rumors passed down by previous senior students—that during their graduate studies, the two had a fierce public argument over planning an exhibition, showing no respect for each other.
She hadn’t realized the conflict went back even further.
Lu Jia admitted, “Xiao Sheng… Professor Sheng told me.”
Shi Mengxi was astonished. “You’re close to Professor Sheng?”
That didn’t make sense. If they were truly close, how could Lu Jia be unaware of their long-standing refusal to speak to each other?
Lu Jia gave a vague reply: “We’re a little acquainted. We’ve collaborated on some projects.”
Their bodies were familiar, but little else was.
When they met, their conversations were casual, but most of their messages were about arranging dates, discussing whether Lu Jia should go to Sheng Shubai’s place or wait for her to come over.
Come to think of it, Lu Jia realized she didn’t know much about Sheng Shubai at all.
Her fingertips paused as she rubbed the rim of her cup.
Shi Mengxi hesitated before asking, “Did Professor Sheng ever mention… any other kind of relationship she might have had with Director Rong?”
Lu Jia: ?
The question was phrased delicately, hinting at whether the two had been lovers, their animosity stemming from a breakup. Lu Jia understood immediately, nearly dropping her coffee.
She recalled their first night together, after their intimacy, when Sheng Shubai had held her close, her voice lazy and smug as she confessed it was her first kiss, and that the experience had been quite enjoyable.
Lu Jia paused. “I don’t think so?”
She dared not ask Sheng Shubai directly; otherwise, their conversation would last far longer than three hours.
She might not even see the sun rise the next day.
