- Chapter 15 - "How about you bite me too, sister?"
Realizing what she had done, Ye Wenjin panicked instantly.
Yet Jian Mo turned to her at that moment, speaking softly, “You did well, Xiao Jin.”
Ye Wenjin stared at her blankly. “R-really?” Guilt crept into her voice. “But… Sister, did I bite you too hard?”
Jian Mo raised a brow slightly. “What if I said it did hurt? What would you do then?”
Ye Wenjin froze again before lowering her head in shame. “I… I’m sorry. Then… then you can bite me back.”
As she spoke, she reached to push aside her hair, exposing the nape of her neck.
Jian Mo couldn’t help but curve her lips, stopping her. “Enough, I’m fine. It doesn’t hurt.”
Ye Wenjin jerked her head up, brows furrowing. “Really? But… but it’s swollen there.”
Her words came out strained, her expression dejected—she still blamed herself for biting too hard.
Then, two gentle pats landed on her head, full of reassurance.
Ye Wenjin looked up, her heart pounding heavily at the sight of Jian Mo’s tender gaze.
Dazed for a second, she quickly snapped out of it, only to notice Jian Mo frowning as she searched for something—clearly without success.
“Sister? What are you looking for?”
“A scent patch, but it seems there aren’t any left in the room.”
Without hesitation, Ye Wenjin stood up. “I’ll go get one from Butler Wu right away.”
She hurried out and immediately spotted the anxious-looking butler.
“Butler Wu.”
Hearing her voice, Butler Wu rushed over. “Miss Ye, how is Mo-Mo doing?”
Ye Wenjin explained the situation, and upon learning that Jian Mo had mostly stabilized, Butler Wu sighed in relief before promptly fetching a scent patch and handing it to her.
“Please take care of the scent patch for her, Miss Ye.”
Ye Wenjin shook her head quickly. “I’m just glad I could help.”
With that, she rushed back with the scent patch. Initially intending to push the door open directly, she paused at the last moment and knocked instead, entering only after hearing a response.
In that short time, Jian Mo’s complexion had mostly returned to normal. Relieved to see her looking well again, Ye Wenjin relaxed slightly.
“Sister, I brought the scent patch.”
Jian Mo nodded, sweeping her long hair aside naturally. “Help me put it on.”
The gesture made Ye Wenjin hesitate again, but she quickly regained her composure. Tearing open the scent patch’s packaging, she leaned in closer, focusing intently as she applied it.
The circular patch covered the Omega’s scent gland completely, blending seamlessly into the skin and concealing both the bite mark and the slight swelling.
The lingering pheromones in the air gradually dissipated, and with her senses finally freed, Ye Wenjin exhaled quietly in relief.
However, having been entwined with Jian Mo’s pheromones for so long, while she logically understood that Jian Mo withdrawing them was necessary, emotionally, she couldn’t help but feel reluctant.
Before being drawn back, those pheromones had stretched toward her, clinging desperately—proof that she wasn’t the only one unwilling to part.
But the moment she recognized her own thoughts, Ye Wenjin held her breath, too afraid to dwell on them further.
Once everything had truly settled, she finally shook off the lingering effects of the pheromones.
With the crisis resolved, belated embarrassment set in, leaving Ye Wenjin fidgeting awkwardly where she stood.
After freezing for two seconds and realizing how close she was to Jian Mo, Ye Wenjin suddenly took a step back. “Sister, since you’re fine now, I won’t disturb you anymore.”
Jian Mo’s eyes flickered slightly, as if she had something to say, but in the end, she simply nodded. “Mm, go ahead.”
So, Ye Wenjin obediently turned around, though a conflicted expression surfaced on her face as she walked toward the door.
Only after opening it did she finally make up her mind. Turning back to look at Jian Mo, she said, “Sister, it’s getting late. You should rest early.”
After a pause, she added in a small, somewhat embarrassed voice, “Goodnight, Sister.”
The smile on Jian Mo’s lips deepened. “Mm, goodnight.”
With that response, Ye Wenjin hurriedly left, afraid that if she stayed even a second longer, Jian Mo might hear the frantic pounding of her heart.
Dazed, she stepped out and immediately saw Butler Wu still waiting by the door.
Seeing this, Ye Wenjin quickly said, “Butler Wu, Sister is fine now. You should go rest too.”
Butler Wu relaxed instantly and smiled. “As long as our guest, Miss Ye, hasn’t retired for the night, my duties aren’t over yet. Miss Ye, let me show you to your room.”
Ye Wenjin blinked, finally remembering she had gotten lost earlier. She nodded. “Alright, thank you, Butler Wu.”
Butler Wu smiled warmly. “No trouble at all. Please follow me.”
Ye Wenjin followed him, passing Jian Mo’s study and another room before Butler Wu stopped.
“This is your room. The bathroom is inside, and toiletries as well as sleepwear have already been prepared. Please take a look, Miss Ye. If you need anything else, just call for me anytime.”
Ye Wenjin hastily waved her hands. “This is more than enough. I don’t think I’ll need anything else. It’s late now—you should go rest too, Butler Wu.”
With a smile, Butler Wu took his leave.
Once inside the room, Ye Wenjin felt her entire body relax. Without wasting time, she headed straight for the bathroom to freshen up.
But… when she caught sight of herself in the mirror, she froze.
So… she had been wearing these clothes and hadn’t even showered before interacting with Sister?
Ye Wenjin’s face flushed crimson with embarrassment and frustration.
Though the situation had been urgent, she couldn’t help feeling she had been far too improper. Would Sister… think less of her?
Ye Wenjin squeezed her eyes shut, her entire body slowly tinged pink with humiliation.
Her face burned with shame, the heat stubbornly refusing to fade.
After standing in awkward silence for a long while, Ye Wenjin finally accepted reality and began washing up with a serene expression.
By the time she finished, at least her complexion had returned to normal.
But with all the delay, it was nearly midnight. If she didn’t sleep soon, she’d surely oversleep tomorrow.
Ye Wenjin quickly cleared her mind of wandering thoughts and climbed into bed.
She had expected the day’s events to keep her awake, but surprisingly, she fell asleep almost instantly.
The blankets were warm and carried a faint, soothing fragrance, as if lulling her into peace.
Ye Wenjin slept soundly and woke up the next morning refreshed, feeling an unprecedented sense of comfort.
It had been so long since she’d slept this well—perhaps it had something to do with that calming scent.
After tidying herself up, Ye Wenjin opened her door and happened to see Jian Mo emerging from the adjacent room. Only then did she realize that Butler Wu had arranged for her room to be right next to Jian Mo’s.
Ye Wenjin froze for a second before quickly snapping back to attention, greeting obediently, “Good morning, Sister.”
Jian Mo’s lips curved slightly. “Good morning, Xiao Jin. Let’s go down for breakfast.”
Ye Wenjin nodded and followed her downstairs.
When they arrived at the dining room, Butler Wu was meticulously arranging the tableware. Upon seeing her, he immediately smiled warmly. “Good morning, Miss Ye. Did you sleep well last night?”
Ye Wenjin nodded. “I slept very well.” Then, with a hint of curiosity, she asked, “Butler Wu, does the scent on the bedding in my room have a calming effect?”
It was only after hearing his words that she suddenly recalled it—she had indeed slept more deeply than usual.
Butler Wu glanced subtly in his young mistress’s direction before replying kindly, “Yes, it does. I’m glad you liked it, Miss Ye.”
Ye Wenjin didn’t notice his glance and nodded gratefully. “Thank you, Butler Wu. You’ve been very thoughtful.”
Being treated with such care was a first for her, and warmth blossomed in her chest.
After breakfast, Jian Mo drove Ye Wenjin back to school. Just as she was about to get out of the car, Jian Mo called out to her.
“Xiao Jin, could you send me a copy of your class schedule?”
Without questioning, Ye Wenjin immediately forwarded it to her.
Jian Mo scanned the schedule and mused for a second. “You don’t have classes on Thursday morning.”
Ye Wenjin was puzzled but nodded obediently.
“Good. Then we’ll go get our marriage certificate on Thursday.”
Ye Wenjin’s eyes widened slowly.
Jian Mo looked at her and asked softly, “Did Xiao Jin forget about registering our marriage?”
Ye Wenjin snapped back to reality. “No! I’ll follow Sister’s lead.”
Jian Mo’s lips lifted slightly. “Mm. Go on, then.”
And so, Ye Wenjin stepped out of the car as if walking on clouds, her mind swirling with one thought—
This time, she was really going to register her marriage with Sister!
