- Chapter 17 - "Sister, the teacher said to ask my parents..."
Ye Wenjin could barely hear Yin Feifei’s words at this moment. The collision of their pheromones had stimulated her own, which were now uncontrollably expelling the pheromones of Rong Yunshu and Yin Feifei.
High-level Alphas are highly sensitive to others’ pheromones. Even without hostility or aggression, their mere presence can be perceived as an intrusion.
Having only recently become an Alpha, Ye Wenjin hadn’t yet grown accustomed to her sudden identity shift, let alone mastered control over her pheromones.
Moreover, as a secondary differentiator, her pheromones were even more unstable than those of natural Alphas.
Under normal circumstances, everyone kept their pheromones well-contained to avoid inconveniencing others, so she could usually manage just fine.
But right now, Ye Wenjin simply couldn’t hold back.
Fortunately, upon noticing the commotion, the onlookers quickly retreated while someone went to notify a teacher.
However, Ye Wenjin was currently experiencing a pheromone rampage—a situation that, if mishandled, could lead to serious consequences.
She strained with all her might to rein in her pheromones, but the provoked energy remained wildly active. After forcefully expelling Yin Feifei’s pheromones from her territory, they surged aggressively toward her.
Yin Feifei, already affected by the sudden pheromone outburst, instinctively tried to resist the attack. But Ye Wenjin’s pheromones were like a tyrant, ruthlessly slamming hers back.
The moment she was struck head-on, Yin Feifei felt an eerie sense of familiarity—as if she had experienced this exact scenario before.
As her consciousness wavered, she finally remembered why it felt so familiar.
The last time she had tried to set Ye Wenjin up, she had inexplicably passed out in the hallway.
Strangely, when she went to check the hotel surveillance footage the next day, that segment had already been deleted.
Unable to track down the culprit, Yin Feifei took out her frustration on the hotel.
But in her rage, she forgot that the hotel was under the Jian Corporation’s control—needless to say, she gained nothing from the confrontation.
Fuming with hatred, she returned home to find Ye Wenjin absent, speculating whether someone had taken advantage of her unconscious state.
Yin Feifei looked down on Ye Wenjin, but her existence held value—her greatest worth lay in securing a marriage alliance to benefit the Yin family.
The reason she had drugged Ye Wenjin was to force her into a compromising situation with the Lin family’s daughter.
In her eyes, both were Betas—perfectly matched. Once they were physically involved, the marriage would be inevitable.
Yet when she later inquired, her mother, Yin Yu, no longer seemed interested in pursuing the matter.
Yin Feifei was indignant, but Yin Yu explained that the Lin family might have gained the Jian Corporation’s support. The situation had shifted, and the marriage was no longer within their control.
“The Jian Corporation?” Yin Feifei exclaimed in disbelief. “What right does the Lin family have?”
Yin Yu’s expression darkened, her brows furrowing in irritation at the outburst.
“If I knew why, would I be struggling like this? Yin Feifei, is this how I raised you? Do you only know how to scream when things don’t go your way? If you don’t have anything constructive to say, then get out of my sight!”
Scolded mercilessly by Yin Yu, Yin Feifei gritted her teeth and left without a word.
She just couldn’t understand why the Lin family had gained the favor of the Jian Corporation.
If only she had managed to pursue Jian Mo back then…
Biting her lip, Yin Feifei’s eyes were filled with frustration.
In her foul mood, she didn’t even return to school, instead spending several days fooling around outside.
It wasn’t until she returned home today that she saw Ye Shuyao looking utterly despondent, while the servants avoided eye contact—clear signs that something had happened.
After some questioning, Yin Feifei learned that Ye Wenjin had come back to take all her belongings, and by the looks of it, she wasn’t planning to return.
Yin Feifei immediately flew into a rage and hurled a barrage of taunts at the still-distraught Ye Shuyao.
“Aunt Ye, you’ve really raised a fine daughter—one who doesn’t even listen to her own mother. Don’t forget, everything you have now was given by us. Is this how you repay us? You can’t even keep one person under control.”
Ye Shuyao’s face paled as she anxiously replied, “No, no, A-Jin wouldn’t leave me. I’m her mother—she wouldn’t abandon me!”
Her expression made it unclear whether she was trying to convince herself or seeking comfort.
Disgusted by the sight, Yin Feifei averted her eyes impatiently. “But the fact is, Ye Wenjin ran away. I don’t care what you do—get her back. The marriage alliance hasn’t been settled yet. She can’t leave.”
Even now, Yin Feifei hadn’t given up on forcing Ye Wenjin into a marriage alliance with that Beta girl from the Lin family.
Though the last attempt had failed, it didn’t mean there was no chance left. Even if Yin Yu said the Lin family had the Jian Corporation’s backing, nothing was certain until the final decision was made.
And—
Thinking differently, even if the Lin family really did secure Jian Corporation’s support, wouldn’t becoming in-laws with them be mutually beneficial? Perhaps they could even use this to establish ties with the Jian Corporation.
The thought of Jian Mo, who had appeared under the spotlight at the banquet, made Yin Feifei’s heart burn with desire.
She absolutely had to have Jian Mo—only an Omega like that was worthy of her!
However, when Ye Shuyao called Ye Wenjin, the line didn’t connect. Only the cold, mechanical voice of a woman repeated that the call couldn’t go through.
Ye Shuyao stared blankly, finally realizing the possibility. “She… A-Jin blocked me…?”
She refused to believe it, but no matter how many times she called, the same icy voice answered.
Yin Feifei’s face remained expressionless as she cursed inwardly: Useless. She then demanded Ye Wenjin’s number to contact her herself.
She and Ye Wenjin had never been in touch, so the latter wouldn’t recognize her number—meaning she definitely wasn’t blocked.
But Ye Wenjin seemed to have enabled a setting to block unknown calls. After several failed attempts, Yin Feifei impatiently sent messages instead, yet Ye Wenjin didn’t reply to a single one.
Furious, Yin Feifei decided to confront her at school. It was a Tuesday—there was no way Ye Wenjin would skip class.
But upon arriving, she discovered that Ye Wenjin had differentiated into an Alpha—one with a higher rank than her own.
Before losing consciousness from the overwhelming pheromones, Yin Feifei’s eyes remained fixed on Ye Wenjin.
After such an incident, all involved—including the unconscious Yin Feifei—were naturally taken to the dean’s office.
Fortunately, she had taken the suppressant in time, and the pheromones had retreated back into her body. Apart from her pale complexion, Ye Wenjin had already calmed down.
She had thought that after explaining the whole situation to the teacher, they would be able to leave. But then…
“Call your parents to come in.”
Ye Wenjin froze.
For the first time in her life, she was being asked to call her parents. For a moment, she was completely stunned. When she finally processed the request, she felt at a loss.
If she had to call a parent, there was absolutely no way she could ask Ye Shuyao. The other mother was practically out of contact as well.
Thinking it over…
Taking a deep breath, Ye Wenjin picked up her phone and began typing a message.
Sister, are you free right now? If you are, could you… come to my school? The teacher said I need to have a parent come in…
She deleted and rewrote the message over and over, carefully weighing each word. After staring at it for what felt like an eternity, she finally mustered the courage to hit send.
Time suddenly seemed to drag on endlessly. Ye Wenjin fidgeted nervously, her neck slowly turning red.
Just as her anxiety was reaching its peak, her phone vibrated. She hurriedly looked down.
Wait for me.
Her heart instantly settled.
