- Chapter 20 - "You Just Need to Regularly Guide Each Other."
Because of Jian Mo’s sudden statement, the office fell into silence.
Jian Mo remained completely unruffled, calmly watching the director as she politely waited for a response.
In truth, she could have just called the police outright without sparing anyone’s face—after all, at the end of the day, reporting illegal activity simply made her a concerned citizen.
Just then, the office door was knocked on again. The director abruptly averted her gaze and hurried to open it, inwardly heaving a sigh of relief.
For some reason, this older sister of Ye Wenjin had an inexplicably powerful presence—being in front of her made one feel inexplicably guilty.
The director’s face stiffened slightly, but fortunately, the knock had rescued her. Whoever was at the door, they were a godsend for breaking this oppressive atmosphere!
However, the moment the door opened, the director froze—because standing outside was none other than the belatedly arriving teacher from the neighboring school.
“You must be Director Li, right? Ah—I sincerely apologize. Our student has caused you trouble, and I’ll make sure to punish her properly when we get back!”
The moment the visitor spoke, everyone sensed something off.
Though the words were apologetic, the underlying meaning was clearly protective, and the tone was grating.
Director Li had already been troubled by Jian Mo’s threat to call the police, but now, not only had the neighboring school’s representative arrived late, their first words carried an implicit intent to shield the student.
Director Li’s brows furrowed, and her temper flared again.
“How should I address you?”
“My surname is Zhou.”
“Ah, Teacher Zhou. Here’s the situation: Your student came to our school intending to kidnap one of our students.
When that failed, she disregarded the law and used pheromone attacks in a public setting.
Now, the victim’s family is also present. I’m afraid this matter can’t be resolved with just a promise of punishment from you.”
Teacher Zhou’s expression shifted. “Kidnapping? Impossible! Director Li, even if my student made a mistake, you can’t just slap a kidnapping charge on her!”
Director Li feigned innocence. “Oh? Teacher Zhou thinks I’m mistaken? But there’s surveillance footage as proof—not to mention eyewitnesses. Would you like to verify each one?”
Teacher Zhou’s chest tightened. Frowning, she swept a glance around the office, pausing when she caught sight of Ye Wenjin. She immediately sensed trouble.
As a counselor, her relationship with students wasn’t particularly close, but she remembered Yin Feifei well—after all, she had received plenty of favors from her.
Because of this, Teacher Zhou had done some digging. She knew Yin Feifei came from the Yin family and had a disliked stepsister—she had even seen this stepsister once by chance.
So she was aware of Ye Wenjin’s existence and had heard about their strained relationship. This made her somewhat inclined to believe Director Li’s kidnapping claim.
Suddenly, the money she’d taken felt scorching in her hands. But no matter what, she absolutely couldn’t admit to kidnapping.
Director Li had no patience for arguing. “Since Teacher Zhou doesn’t believe me, please notify this student’s parents to come in.”
Teacher Zhou had been thinking the same thing and hurried out to make the call, looking troubled.
Upon learning that Yin Yu might also come, Ye Wenjin immediately grew nervous. But before her anxiety could take hold, her hand was grasped by Jian Mo. “Don’t worry.”
The warmth from Jian Mo’s touch instantly eased her tension. Jian Mo’s presence was like a shot of adrenaline—even simple words from her filled Ye Wenjin with immense reassurance.
However, unexpectedly, the person who arrived wasn’t Yin Yu but Ye Shuyao.
The moment she appeared, Ye Wenjin felt somewhat absurd, yet her heart remained calm.
Even though Ye Shuyao came under the guise of being Yin Feifei’s parent, she still felt completely unruffled.
Without expectations, there naturally wouldn’t be disappointment. Now, nothing Ye Shuyao did could affect her anymore.
When Jian Mo saw that it was Ye Shuyao who had appeared, her eyes turned cold. Without waiting for the other to speak, she stood up and said, “It seems there’s nothing to discuss. I’ll report this to the police. If there’s anything to say, we can say it at the police station.”
As soon as these words were spoken, everyone was shocked.
Principal Li, who had initially wanted to save some face, now didn’t care anymore. After all, it wasn’t their school’s student—whoever was responsible could deal with it.
Teacher Zhou grew anxious and turned to look at Ye Shuyao, only to find that this parent of Yin Feifei was staring intently at Ye Wenjin.
Upon closer inspection, the two even looked somewhat alike…
Teacher Zhou froze, realizing something, and felt utterly exasperated.
What kind of mess was this?!
Jian Mo didn’t care about what anyone else thought. She took Ye Wenjin’s hand and said to Principal Li, “Xiao Jin’s hormones are unstable, and she’s been threatened. I’d like to request a day’s leave for her to go to the hospital for a check-up. What do you think, Principal?”
Without hesitation, Principal Li nodded. “I’ll inform her homeroom teacher. Ye Wenjin should indeed get a proper examination. Health comes first.”
Satisfied, Jian Mo nodded and led Ye Wenjin away.
As they passed by Ye Shuyao, Ye Wenjin thought she saw her lips tremble slightly, as if she wanted to say something. But Jian Mo kept pulling her forward without stopping.
Ye Wenjin didn’t resist at all, obediently letting herself be led away, never once looking back.
Watching their figures gradually disappear, Ye Shuyao’s heart suddenly clenched. Her lips parted slightly, but no words came out.
Sensing the drama but unable to witness it now that the main players had left, Rong Yunshu regretfully took Rong Yunshu and departed as well.
Only Ye Shuyao remained standing there in a daze, facing the impending arrival of the police and the soon-to-wake Yin Feifei.
Suddenly granted a day off, Ye Wenjin was completely taken by surprise.
She had only finished her morning classes before taking leave again in the afternoon. Lately, her absences had become quite frequent, but fortunately, this time there was a valid reason, so it shouldn’t cause too much trouble.
However, the afternoon was reserved for dance practice, and Ye Wenjin hesitated—she really didn’t want to miss it.
Jian Mo noticed her thoughts and said gently, “Xiao Jin, asking for leave wasn’t just an excuse. You really do need a full check-up now.”
Ye Wenjin was taken aback. “But… I feel fine.”
Jian Mo smiled and countered, “Feelings aren’t enough. The doctor’s word is what matters. Let’s go to the hospital.”
So the two returned to the hospital. Coincidentally, the results of their previous premarital check-up had all come in, so they didn’t need to repeat the tests.
But as she looked over the results, Ye Wenjin fell silent—several of her indicators were below standard.
Her hormones were even worse. Due to her late differentiation and the recent stress, she would experience a prolonged period of instability, requiring suppressants to manage.
However…
“You two are planning to get married, right? That’s perfect. Ms. Ye and Ms. Jian have an exceptionally high pheromone compatibility. Having Ms. Jian help regulate you would be more effective than suppressants.”
After addressing Ye Wenjin, the doctor turned to Jian Mo. “Ms. Jian, based on your last physical examination, your condition isn’t ideal either. Have your pheromones been unstable again recently?”
Jian Mo paused briefly, about to say no, when she heard Ye Wenjin speak up with noticeable concern, “Yes, doctor. Sister’s pheromones were unstable again last night. Is there a problem?”
With no choice, Jian Mo nodded in confirmation.
The doctor wore an all-knowing expression and contemplated for a moment before saying, “Neither of you may need suppressants. Pheromone agitation and instability share similar symptoms. You just need to regularly regulate each other. Come back for a follow-up in a while to reassess the situation.”
Ye Wenjin: “!”
Jian Mo smiled faintly.
“Don’t avoid treatment out of embarrassment,” the doctor advised them earnestly.
Because of those words, the heat never left Ye Wenjin’s face. Even after leaving the hospital, her cheeks remained slightly flushed.
Jian Mo was in high spirits. After checking the time, she made a decision.
By the time Ye Wenjin finally snapped out of her daze, they were already on their way back.
“Sister? You’re not busy anymore?”
Jian Mo smiled gently. “There’s no hurry for now. There’s something more important to do.”
Ye Wenjin looked puzzled. “Something more important?”
Jian Mo gave a soft hum. “There’s no time like the present. Let’s go get our marriage certificate today.”
Ye Wenjin: “!!!”
