- Chapter 22 - "How about tentatively three times a week?"
The morning sunlight streamed through the gaps in the curtains, coincidentally falling right on Ye Wenjin’s face. Two small birds had flown in from somewhere and were chirping incessantly.
Between the birdsong and the harsh light, Ye Wenjin’s eyelashes fluttered slightly as she groggily opened her eyes.
For a few seconds, she was completely disoriented.
Not just because her brain hadn’t fully woken up yet, but because of the room’s decor that greeted her.
First impression: So many decorations, somewhat familiar.
Second impression: What an unfamiliar room.
The ceiling was crowded with balloons, ribbons naturally dangling from them, and those unmistakably familiar double-happiness stickers…
Ye Wenjin’s eyes slowly widened, though her expression remained blank. Before she could think further, memories from last night came flooding back.
Yes, last night—she had only had two glasses of red wine, barely 10% alcohol, yet she got drunk!
She hadn’t blacked out and could clearly recall countless scenes from the previous evening. And precisely because of that, a familiar warmth rushed to her face.
Her mind flashed back to her childish behavior when her sister had helped her upstairs, even needing to be coaxed several times!
That alone would have been embarrassing enough, but then came the memories of their intimate entanglement last night, leaving Ye Wenjin both flustered and shocked.
She could almost still hear Jian Mo’s soft moans…
All these thoughts uncontrollably swirled in her mind, replaying on loop.
Ahhhh! Alcohol really causes nothing but trouble!
Ye Wenjin squeezed her eyes shut, unwilling to face reality.
“Good morning, Xiao Jin.”
The slightly hoarse voice instantly snapped Ye Wenjin back to attention. Her eyes flew open, immediately meeting Jian Mo’s gentle, smiling gaze.
Only then did Ye Wenjin realize how intimate their position was.
She had Jian Mo completely wrapped in her arms, their limbs intertwined so tightly they might as well have been inseparable.
Her mind went blank for a moment before Ye Wenjin, her face burning, released Jian Mo. “Sister, I’m sorry—did I squeeze you too tight?”
Jian Mo naturally extricated herself from the embrace. As she sat up, a few strands of her long hair slipped free, lightly brushing Ye Wenjin’s face and tickling her slightly, though she resisted the urge to react.
“Not at all. I slept very well—better than I have in a while. How about you, Xiao Jin?”
Ye Wenjin quickly nodded. “I slept great too!”
Jian Mo smiled. Seems last night’s guidance was very effective. You’re amazing, Xiao Jin.At the mention of the guidance, Ye Wenjin suddenly remembered how everything had started between them last night.
It was because of the pheromone guidance.
Ye Wenjin silently pulled the blanket up to cover half her face, too embarrassed to face Jian Mo.
Noticing this, Jian Mo said slowly, “After the guidance, I did feel much better.” But what about you, Xiao Jin? Do you find it… troublesome to help me with it?”
Ye Wenjin threw off the blanket and sat up abruptly. “Of course not! I’m happy to help you, sister!”
Jian Mo gave a soft smile. “Then I’ll have to trouble you. The doctor said it needs to be done regularly—how about we schedule it three times a week for now?”
Blushing, Ye Wenjin nodded. “Whatever you say, sister.”
Three times a week… which meant…
Ye Wenjin’s face turned even redder.
Jian Mo acted as though she didn’t notice her renewed blush, putting on her robe as she stood. “Let’s get up. Time for breakfast.”
Hearing this, Ye Wenjin immediately got out of bed. Glancing at the scattered clothes on the floor, she felt a wave of embarrassment.
Fortunately, Jian Mo promptly handed her a nightgown. Without caring that it belonged to her sister, Ye Wenjin quickly put it on.
“Then I’ll go back to my room to wash up. See you later, sis!”
Before the words even finished, she had already slipped out the door.
Jian Mo watched her hurried retreat with some helplessness.
Once back in her room, Ye Wenjin’s first action was to carefully remove and properly store the clothes she’d been wearing. After a quick shower, she changed into her own clothes and finally relaxed.
After tidying everything, her gaze fell on the pajamas Jian Mo had lent her.
After a moment’s thought, Ye Wenjin picked them up. She had intended to wash them before returning them, but…
The moment she lifted them, a faint, cool fragrance wafted over her. Ye Wenjin paused, her fingertips trembling slightly.
Of course the pajamas carried Jian Mo’s scent—they were hers after all.
Though she repeated this to herself mentally, Ye Wenjin couldn’t help swallowing hard as she looked at the garment in her hands. Slowly, she brought it closer and took a delicate sniff.
It was indeed Jian Mo’s distinctive cool fragrance.
Her cheeks flushing, Ye Wenjin guiltily rushed the pajamas to the bathroom to wash them.
Only after hanging the clothes to dry did she hurry downstairs to the dining room.
“What took you so long?”
At Jian Mo’s question, Ye Wenjin flinched slightly, avoiding eye contact as she replied, “I… took a shower. Sorry for being late.”
Jian Mo studied her with a probing look, sensing the evasion but choosing not to press further. “Have a seat.”
Nodding quickly, Ye Wenjin sat down—then froze when she saw the spread of breakfast dishes.
Nearly half the table was covered with nourishing, bl00d-replenishing foods.
Turning her head, she met the warm, encouraging gaze of Housekeeper Wu, whose smiling eyes urged her to eat more.
Ye Wenjin’s scalp prickled, feeling like steam might rise from her head.
To her horror, Housekeeper Wu misinterpreted her stunned expression as shyness and proceeded to serve her a portion of every tonic dish.
“Young Miss Wenjin is too thin—you need proper nourishment. Don’t worry, these are just nutritional supplements. They won’t cause weight gain.”
“Miss Momo mentioned you’re a dance student who needs to watch your figure, so I carefully selected these ingredients and calculated their calories. They won’t exceed your limits.”
Forgetting her embarrassment momentarily, Ye Wenjin asked in surprise, “Housekeeper Wu knows about these things?”
With modest pride, Housekeeper Wu replied, “I obtained an advanced nutritionist certification in my younger days. It’s nothing remarkable.”
Ye Wenjin: “!”
So Housekeeper Wu was a jack-of-all-trades.
She stared blankly at the array of small, exquisitely portioned bowls before her—nearly ten of them in total.
Would eating all this really be okay?
Hesitating, Ye Wenjin instinctively looked to Jian Mo for help.
Jian Mo couldn’t suppress a smile. “Eat without worry. Aunt Wu is very professional.”
After a pause, she added thoughtfully, “From now on, Aunt Wu will oversee your meals. Health is fundamental—being too thin leads to malnutrition. Even dancers need proper nourishment.”
Ye Wenjin: “!!”
She waved her hands hastily. “N-no, that’s too much trouble for Housekeeper Wu.”
Jian Mo simply smiled without responding.
Butler Wu insisted, “Miss Wenjin, there’s no need to decline. This is what I should do.”
Ye Wenjin hesitated for a long moment before nodding uncertainly, “Then I’ll trouble you, Butler Wu. If it’s too much trouble, you really don’t have to. I can eat at school.”
Butler Wu smiled warmly, “It’s no trouble at all. If not for Miss Wenjin’s strict figure requirements, actually gaining a little weight would make you look even better.”
Ye Wenjin’s eyes flickered slightly. It had been a long time since she’d felt this kind of parental-like care.
In the dormitory, she occasionally heard Chu Yunsheng casually complain that every time she went home, her grandmothers would always stuff her with so much food that she’d inevitably gain five or six pounds over a break.
Ye Wenjin envied that.
After all, only elders who love you will always think you’ve lost weight and aren’t eating well every time they see you.
Even if you haven’t lost weight and have actually become rounder, in their eyes you’ll still seem too thin and not eating enough.
In their view, being able to eat is a blessing.
This is probably what they mean by “there’s a kind of hunger called your elders thinking you’re hungry.”
And now, she felt this same affection from Butler Wu. Ye Wenjin blinked and sincerely thanked her.
Butler Wu smiled, “If Miss Wenjin doesn’t mind, you can call me Aunt Wu like Miss Momo does.”
Ye Wenjin froze for a moment, then instinctively looked at Jian Mo.
Jian Mo was drinking milk. When Ye Wenjin looked over, she happened to put down her cup and elegantly wiped the corners of her mouth.
“Xiao Jin, looking at me like that—are you unwilling to use the same form of address as me?”
Her voice was soft, without any hint of reproach, but Ye Wenjin immediately felt she’d done something wrong and quickly shook her head, “Of course not!”
Then she turned to Butler Wu and obediently said, “Aunt Wu.”
Butler Wu’s smile widened, “I remember Miss Wenjin took a day off. You can return to school after lunch.”
Ye Wenjin thought for a moment and honestly replied, “I actually want to go back earlier—I’m worried about falling behind in my studies.”
Butler Wu sighed, “Miss Wenjin is so diligent. While hard work is good, you must also remember to rest properly.”
Ye Wenjin nodded obediently, “I know, Aunt Wu.”
By the time breakfast was finished, it was nearly 8:30.
Ye Wenjin had consumed plenty of nourishing soup, nutritious porridge, and various supplements—she felt that even speaking would carry the scent of tonics now.
After eating all that, she couldn’t help wondering if she might be overdoing it with the supplements…
With this thought, she resigned herself to it.
It was mainly that she couldn’t bring herself to refuse Aunt Wu’s kindness, so she decided she’d address the issue if she actually did overdo it.
After breakfast, Ye Wenjin was thinking about how to get to school when Jian Mo said, “Aunt Wu, please take Xiao Jin to school later.”
Butler Wu nodded gently, “Of course.”
Ye Wenjin opened her mouth to refuse, but meeting Jian Mo’s gaze, she swallowed her words and said instead, “Okay, sister.”
Only then did Jian Mo nod. She then picked up her things, appearing ready to leave.
Ye Wenjin hurried after her, “Are you going out now, sister?”
Jian Mo nodded, “Yes, to the company.”
Ye Wenjin very conscientiously saw her to the door, “Goodbye, sister.”
Jian Mo paused, lips curving slightly as she looked at her, “Xiao Jin, come here.”
Ye Wenjin approached her with confusion, only to feel a light kiss brush against her lips.
It was just a fleeting peck, over before she could even react.
Jian Mo patted her head affectionately. “Good girl, Wenjin.”
Even after the car carrying Jian Mo had disappeared from sight, Ye Wenjin remained rooted in place, dazed.
When Butler Wu stepped out of the dining room, she found Ye Wenjin standing there in a daze, her ears flushed red. With an understanding smile, Butler Wu quietly slipped away without disturbing her.
It took a long while before Ye Wenjin finally snapped out of it. She patted her burning cheeks and glanced around, relieved to find no one nearby.
Since her sister had already left for work, she might as well get ready for school.
With that thought, Ye Wenjin returned to her room to grab the textbooks she hadn’t had time to pack yesterday. After making sure she hadn’t forgotten anything, she went to find Butler Wu and told her she was ready to leave.
Butler Wu looked surprised. “So early?”
Ye Wenjin smiled shyly. “Since my sister’s gone to work, there’s nothing else for me to do. I might as well attend class.”
Butler Wu gave her a teasing look but quickly composed herself when she noticed Ye Wenjin’s cheeks turning pink again.
Young people are too easily flustered—
With a quiet sigh, Butler Wu fetched the keys and drove the car out from the garage.
Once they reached the school gates, Ye Wenjin bid farewell and was about to step out of the car.
“Wait, Miss Wenjin,” Butler Wu said. “Let’s exchange contact information first.”
Though puzzled, Ye Wenjin nodded. “Alright.”
After swapping numbers, Ye Wenjin got out of the car.
Butler Wu leaned out the window and said, “Then I’ll head back now, Miss Wenjin. I’ll contact you at noon.”
Ye Wenjin blinked. “Huh?”
But before she could ask, Butler Wu had already driven off.
For a moment, Ye Wenjin stood there bewildered—then suddenly remembered what Jian Mo had said during breakfast.
Was Butler Wu… planning to bring her lunch at noon?!
Ye Wenjin froze for a second before sighing and walking toward the school.
She just hoped there wouldn’t be too many supplements.
With that silent prayer, she quickened her pace.
She wasn’t too late—just in time for the next class.
As soon as she entered the classroom, Rong Yunshu waved at her, and Ye Wenjin hurried over to take a seat.
“Whew… Yunshu, you didn’t take leave?”
Rong Yunshu nodded, looking resigned. “Nope. My pheromones are stable, so I had no reason to skip. What about you? Did you get checked?”
Ye Wenjin nodded. “I did, but it’ll take some time before everything settles down.”
Rong Yunshu hummed in acknowledgment. “That’s good.”
She hesitated, as if wanting to ask something but unsure how to phrase it. In the end, she kept quiet.
“By the way, since you took leave yesterday for health reasons, you might not know—that woman woke up just as the police arrived and made a huge scene. They had to forcibly restrain her and take her away. She’s probably still at the station now.”
Hearing about Yin Feifei suddenly felt like recalling a distant memory. In reality, it had only been a night, but with more pressing matters occupying her thoughts, Ye Wenjin had nearly forgotten about her.
After a moment of consideration, she said, “She won’t stay at the station for long. Yin Yu will definitely find a way to get her out.”
Rong Yunshu frowned. “Yin Yu?”
Ye Wenjin lowered her voice. “That woman’s mother.”
Rong Yunshu’s brows furrowed deeper. “What if she comes after you again?”
Ye Wenjin thought for a moment. “Let her. It’s not like I can control her actions.”
Rong Yunshu looked at her with a complicated expression and sighed, saying, “Wenjin, you still need to learn to be more assertive. That woman seems mentally unstable and capable of anything. It’s better to be careful.”
Ye Wenjin thought about it and realized he was right—Yin Feifei was indeed like that.
“I understand. From now on… I won’t stay in the dorm on weekends or during my free time.”
If she stayed at her sister’s place, Yin Feifei definitely wouldn’t be able to find her, and besides…
Her sister had mentioned three counseling sessions a week—she would definitely put in the effort!
Rong Yunshu was taken aback.
Not staying in the dorm? Then where would she stay?
…At that woman’s house from yesterday?
His eyes darkened.
