After Amnesia, the Fishing-Type O Tempts Me to Mark Her - Chapter 3
A kiss mark lingered on the back of her neck, left by Cheng Yang.
Cheng Yang bit her lower lip, tilted her head back, and stared intently at Xu Xun’s flushed face. She shot Jian Fan a sidelong glance, as if driving away a rival.
Jian Fan squatted woodenly on the floor, frantically stuffing the fallen medical instruments back into the kit. Without a word, he turned and left.
The pleasant mood had been completely ruined.
Cheng Yang quickly pecked Xu Xun’s lower lip and then sat back down at the table, pretending nothing had happened.
In truth, Jian Fan had only arrived for the scheduled check-up and hadn’t expected their relationship to have progressed so rapidly.
Xu Xun followed him out the door, and the two exchanged a silent, knowing glance.
Jian Fan’s brow furrowed, and a thousand words condensed into a sigh: “I came for the check-up. Is she feeling better?”
Xu Xun nodded. “Much better. She can walk without support now, and she even made me breakfast.”
Whether this was a boast or something else, Jian Fan found the remark unsettling.
As they discussed Cheng Yang’s condition, the Alpha in question materialized behind them.
Cheng Yang gripped Xu Xun’s hand, which hung at his side, and asked, “A’Xun, can I skip the check-up today?”
Xu Xun walked over to Cheng Yang and said softly, “Yangyang, be good. Dr. Jian is a close friend of mine and an excellent physician. We need to trust her.”
Jian Fan watched their clingy interaction, his hand unconsciously tightening around the handle of his medical kit. The moment their gazes turned to him, he nodded quickly.
Cheng Yang lowered her head. “Alright.”
The physical examination proceeded smoothly, with Cheng Yang being very cooperative.
Standing behind Cheng Yang, Jian Fan used tweezers to grasp the end of the gauze, preparing to change her dressing.
Xu Xun’s brow furrowed as he stared intently at the gauze stained with brown ointment. He gripped Cheng Yang’s wrist tightly, naturally intertwining their fingers.
“……”
Jian Fan glanced at them hurriedly, shooting Xu Xun a meaningful look where Cheng Yang couldn’t see.
Xu Xun ignored the signal, wrapping his arm around Cheng Yang’s waist and pressing her against his shoulder. He kissed her earlobe and murmured, “Don’t be afraid, Yangyang. It’ll be over soon.”
Cheng Yang clenched her jaw, her entire body pressed against Xu Xun’s chest.
The faint fragrance of epiphyllum lingered around her nose, slowly easing her tense nerves.
Sharp, tugging pain radiated from Cheng Yang’s scalp, cold sweat beading on her forehead.
The two doctors observed her reaction closely.
Jian Fan murmured reassuringly, “Almost done. Just one more layer of gauze.”
The dressing change finally concluded, leaving Cheng Yang’s head completely swathed in bandages. She stared at her reflection in the mirror, unable to resist asking, “Dr. Jian, when will I be fully healed?”
The gauze was so unsightly, wrapping her up like a mummy.
No wonder Xu Xun never initiated kisses. Wrapped up in this “abstinent” manner, there was simply no way to kiss her.
In dramas, female leads with head injuries always looked so pitifully charming with a pristine white bandage circling their foreheads.
But reality was nothing like that.
Dramas lie!
Cheng Yang struggled to accept her current appearance.
Her face alone looked fine, but the moment she stood up, she resembled a stiff-limbed, glamorous mummy.
Xu Xun was about to comfort Cheng Yang when he turned to find the Alpha had already fled upstairs, clutching her head.
Xu Xun shot to his feet, ready to chase after her, but Jian Fan grabbed his wrist. “Sit down!”
Watching Cheng Yang go upstairs and close the bedroom door, Jian Fan hissed in a furious whisper, “What exactly are you trying to do? Explain yourself!”
Xu Xun replied expressionlessly, “Things have already gone this far. There’s no turning back now.”
“So you’re just going to…” Jian Fan glared at Xu Xun, as if looking at a stranger he didn’t understand. “Xu Xun, we’re friends. I can’t just stand by and watch you…”
“I know the consequences,” Xu Xun interrupted, her gaze lowered, her expression calm. “Don’t worry. I love her. I won’t put her in a difficult position.”
Jian Fan stared at Xu Xun’s stubborn face and sighed. “When you’re backed into a corner, you’d better remember what you said today.”
Xu Xun lifted her gaze, meeting Jian Fan’s eyes. “You don’t believe me?”
Jian Fan gave a helpless smile. “What do you think?”
Xu Xun lowered her head again. “I don’t know. I’ll just take things one step at a time.”
Â
Â
Cheng Yang sat motionless in her room.
Â
Ever since her head injury, the time she spent sitting like this had been increasing daily.
Â
Her mind was a chaotic mess.
Â
One moment, she was engulfed in a sea of flames; the next, she was tormented by the heart-wrenching screams echoing in her ears; then, she found herself in a sterile, spacious hospital, its air thick with the acrid scent of disinfectant.
Â
Cheng Yang blinked, slowly regaining her senses, only to realize Xu Xun had quietly entered the room.
Â
Before she could react, Xu Xun gently pulled her into his arms, whispering, “Does your head still hurt?”
Â
“Mm-hmm,” Cheng Yang nodded, her voice betraying her pain. “It hurts. It was so painful when Dr. Jian changed the bandages just now.”
Â
Xu Xun pressed a tender kiss to the gauze wrapped around Cheng Yang’s head. “Let me kiss it better,” he murmured. “A kiss will make it feel better.”
Â
Cheng Yang repeated his words softly, her voice childlike, “Mm-hmm, a kiss will make it feel better.”
Â
A faint gasp reached her ears.
Â
Cheng Yang looked up and met Xu Xun’s tear-reddened eyes.
Â
His eyes brimmed with tears, leaving Cheng Yang stunned. “A’Xun, why… why are you crying?”
Â
“I… I’m fine,” Xu Xun said, wiping away his tears with a shaky hand. “I’m just so relieved you’re okay. The thought of what happened still terrifies me.”
Â
Cheng Yang reached out, intending to wipe the tears from the corner of Xu Xun’s eye. But suddenly, an idea struck her. She leaned forward, stretching her neck, and gently caught the tear with her lips.
Â
Xu Xun stiffened abruptly.
Â
She met Cheng Yang’s smiling gaze, a complex mix of emotions flashing through her eyes.
Â
Noticing Xu Xun’s unease, Cheng Yang finally couldn’t resist voicing her long-held confusion. “A’Xun, I’ve always felt your reactions to me have been a bit strange. I’ve been puzzling over it for ages, but I just can’t figure it out. Could you tell me why today?”
Â
“I was so scared,” Xu Xun choked out, her voice trembling. “We had a falling out before, and you were so cold to me. But ever since you lost your memory, it’s like we’ve gone back to when we first started dating. I’m overwhelmed, and honestly, a little afraid.”
Â
Cheng Yang’s eyes widened in realization. “You mean we were in a cold war before?”
Â
Xu Xun nodded awkwardly. “Not really… You were just so busy with work, always flying between countries, leaving me alone in our empty house.”
Â
Before she could finish, Cheng Yang leaned in and kissed Xu Xun’s cool lips, her eyes filled with unwavering resolve. “A’Xun, I was wrong before. From now on, I’ll never neglect your feelings again. Can you forgive me for my past mistakes?”
Â
Xu Xun slowly nodded, her gaze fixed on Cheng Yang’s eyes. “Yes, but you have to promise me you’ll always stay with me. No matter what mistakes I make, you can’t abandon me.”
Â
Cheng Yang blinked, caught off guard by Xu Xun’s sudden declaration of eternal devotion. Yet she nodded firmly.
Â
Xu Xun seemed to be relieved of a great burden, pulling Cheng Yang into a tight embrace.
Â
Cheng Yang loved Xu Xun’s hugs.
Â
For some reason, Cheng Yang always felt as if a veil separated them. According to the servants, she and Xu Xun had been deeply in love.
Â
Could it be true, as Xu Xun claimed, that they had been estranged before Cheng Yang lost her memories?
Â
Perhaps… perhaps they had been on the verge of divorce, which explained Xu Xun’s constant anxiety and fear of losing her?
Â
Cheng Yang opened her eyes and glanced at the back of Xu Xun’s neck.
Â
Noticing the faint mark on her scent gland, she surreptitiously sniffed it while Xu Xun wasn’t looking.
Â
Yes, it was peach-scented—the mark she had left.
Â
The mark was faint, likely applied about two weeks ago, just over a week before Cheng Yang’s car accident.
Â
If their relationship had been on the brink of collapse, why would she have marked Xu Xun’s neck?
Â
Could she have been an irresponsible Alpha, marking others indiscriminately and prone to domestic violence?
Â
Cheng Yang was startled by the thought.
Â
If that were true, Xu Xun’s resistance to her sudden affection would be perfectly understandable.
Â
Oh no, oh no, oh no.
Â
She used to be a villain? How did Xu Xun ever fall for her?
Â
Could it be… a quid pro quo?
Â
Cheng Yang reviewed her resume. She had started acting at seventeen, winning Best Actress for her debut film—a promising start to a brilliant career.
Â
Xu Xun, on the other hand, had been scouted during college and entered the entertainment industry that way.
Â
With no connections or family backing, Cheng Yang initially played minor roles. Yet she soon landed a leading role in a film by a renowned director.
Â
Cheng Yang searched for the movie. She was the protagonist, while Xu Xun played a crucial supporting character.
Â
Though she couldn’t remember anything, amnesia didn’t mean she was stupid. The more she thought about it, the more her heart raced with unease.
Â
Could it be that her relationship with Xu Xun had started as a purely physical transaction?
Â
Cheng Yang couldn’t help but sigh.
Â
Xu Xun noticed her sigh, unaware that in just two minutes, Cheng Yang’s mind had already conjured a melodramatic tale of forced possession and abusive romance.
Â
Cheng Yang cautiously asked, “A’Xun, was I… unkind to you before?”
Â
Xu Xun froze, surprised. “No, not at all.”
Â
Cheng Yang remained skeptical, pressing further, “Are you sure?”
Â
Xu Xun replied firmly, “Absolutely.”
Â
Still unconvinced, Cheng Yang paused, then asked, “Then tell me… how did you fall in love with me?”
Â
Xu Xun was completely stunned. She stammered, “This…”
Â
Cheng Yang tilted her head and pressed a kiss to Xu Xun’s long, snow-white neck, her gaze locking onto Xu Xun’s eyes. “Don’t lie to me. Tell me the truth. I’ll know if you’re lying.”
Â
Their eyes met.
Â
Cheng Yang desperately wanted an answer.
Â
But Xu Xun kept her lips tightly sealed, her gaze darting away, making Cheng Yang increasingly anxious.
Â
Just as Cheng Yang was about to let her imagination run wild, Xu Xun’s lips moved. Her nose tingled, and a blush crept across her face.
Â
“Actually, I’ve liked you since high school.”
