After Awakening Consciousness, I Was Entangled by the White Moonlight Female Supporting Character - Chapter 21
Jiang Ciqiu glanced at her legs, then at her face.
Finally, she said, “You can use the bathtub in my room. As for the cast, I’ll find a waterproof bag to cover it—no problem.”
“So, you’re not going to help me wash?”
Jiang Ciqiu straightened up, crossed her arms, and nodded firmly. “Don’t even think about it. Not happening.”
“And another thing—I’m not letting you mess with me twice in one day.” She gave Chu Han a knowing look. “I can push you in, run the hot water for you, and then wheel you back to your room. But that’s it.”
“Fine,” Chu Han maneuvered her wheelchair forward slightly and looked at her. “But first, I need to go to my room to get some clothes.”
Jiang Ciqiu shrugged. “Whatever.”
As Chu Han went to fetch her change of clothes, Jiang Ciqiu stood there for a moment before her eyes landed on the food container on the coffee table.
She walked over and opened it—the grilled squid was gone.
To confirm it had been eaten, she peeked into the trash can. Only a used napkin lay inside.
She smirked. Of course no one could resist grilled squid!
“The grilled squid was delicious. Thanks.”
The sudden voice startled Jiang Ciqiu. She clutched her chest and looked up. “Why don’t you make any noise when you move?!”
“It’s the wheelchair—it’s silent.”
Jiang Ciqiu exhaled and walked over to push the wheelchair. Seeing her approach, Chu Han let go of the wheels.
It wasn’t until they reached the bedroom door that Jiang Ciqiu realized—
Wait, wasn’t she now actively bringing Chu Han into her room? What the hell was this?!
“Not going in?” Chu Han had her clothes neatly folded on her lap, hands resting atop them.
“…Wait here. I’ll go run the bath and get a waterproof bag for your cast.”
Since she hadn’t used the bathtub earlier, Jiang Ciqiu rinsed it first before filling it with hot water.
Passing by Chu Han, who was still waiting by the door, she rubbed her temples.
Seriously… she hadn’t been acting normal all day.
But since she’d caused this mess, she had to take responsibility.
Besides, having her “white moonlight” living right under her nose—with limited mobility, no less—meant she wouldn’t have to worry about Chu Han unexpectedly running into Jiang Wanhe without her knowledge.
Jiang Ciqiu thought that, at the very least, this whole mess had some silver lining.
The waterproof bags were in the TV cabinet. Jiang Ciqiu grabbed several, planning to stash the extras in the bathroom so she wouldn’t have to fetch them every time.
Kneeling by the bathroom door, she carefully fitted the waterproof bag over the cast before wheeling Chu Han inside.
The bath was ready, steam rising in the room.
Chu Han braced herself against the edge of the tub and shifted onto it.
Jiang Ciqiu pushed the wheelchair out and disappeared around the corner.
Chu Han frowned slightly. That was it?
She dipped her fingers into the steaming water—perfect temperature.
Glancing at the still-open door, she sighed and reached to undress.
Then, suddenly, Jiang Ciqiu reappeared, arms laden with several large towels.
As she walked toward Chu Han, she casually dragged a small shelf to the center of the room.
She placed the towels next to the change of clothes on the shelf, draping one over them to shield them from the steam.
“Brought three. Should be enough,” she said offhandedly.
“After you finish washing, use one towel to sit on, then another to dry yourself, and keep one spare.”
“Call me when you’re dressed, and I’ll bring the wheelchair in.”
As Jiang Ciqiu casually glanced up after speaking, she noticed the other woman staring at her.
“Is there something on my face?”
Chu Han averted her eyes without responding.
Overwhelmed by drowsiness, Jiang Ciqiu couldn’t be bothered to dwell on it, covering a yawn with her hand.
She stood up. “I’ll step out then. Remember to call me when you’re done.”
The door clicked shut behind her. Chu Han stared blankly at the empty door panel for a moment.
She hadn’t expected Jiang Ciqiu not only to refrain from retaliation but to treat her with such indulgence.
Pulling a hair tie from her pocket, she gathered her long hair and checked the water temperature before undressing.
Jiang Ciqiu sprawled across the king-sized bed, grabbing her phone to check messages.
It was an apology from the person who’d invited her to Summer New Club, proposing another gathering to make amends in person.
She ignored it, locking her phone and tossing it aside.
Indeed, she’d only met Chu Han yesterday—who’d have thought they’d be living together today?
Three encounters in four days, and now… cohabitation?
“Cohabitation” wasn’t quite accurate, but the young mistress couldn’t think of a better term for their current arrangement.
“What a troublesome woman…” Jiang Ciqiu muttered as the ceiling above grew hazy, her field of vision narrowing. “Nothing good ever comes from meeting her…”
As sleep claimed her, her eyelids grew heavy against her will.
The sensation of slipping into unconsciousness was peculiar—her body still functioning, her brain only partially at rest, the switch for external stimuli turned off as her systems prepared for renewed activity.
A distant voice gradually roused her awareness.
Too groggy to open her eyes, Jiang Ciqiu only registered a woman calling her name.
Frowning, she rolled over, shielding her eyes from the harsh light.
“…Jiang Ciqiu? Are you still there?”
The voice sounded muffled, indistinct.
“Who is it?” she responded, then suddenly remembered. She glanced around the unfamiliar room.
This wasn’t her home?
Wait—it was.
The new place she’d had to acquire because of her “white moonlight.”
Bolting upright, Jiang Ciqiu hurried to the bathroom and pulled open the door.
The steam had mostly dissipated, but the air remained thick with humidity.
Chu Han leaned against the bathtub’s edge, a discarded towel at her feet—likely intended as an anti-slip measure.
Dressed in a pale silk nightgown, the pearl hue accentuating her freshly washed, rosy skin.
Jiang Ciqieu glanced at the wheelchair before entering. “Sorry, you didn’t wait long, did you?”
“I thought I’d have to crawl out.”
Chu Han’s tone gave no indication of anger, though the statement wasn’t meant to amuse—merely stating facts.
Had Jiang Ciqiu delayed another minute, she would have acted on those words.
Picking up the damp towel, Jiang Ciqiu rubbed her eyes. “Fell asleep—was exhausted. Were you calling for long?”
Chu Han didn’t hold back either, saying bluntly, “Maybe ten minutes? Twenty? I don’t know. I didn’t want to disturb Miss Jiang’s beauty sleep, but I tried to be as quick as possible. Who knew you’d fall asleep in less than ten minutes?”
“I’ve already drained all the water,” she pointed at the bathtub, “even refilled it for cleaning, then drained it again, and you still hadn’t responded.”
“If the floor and walls weren’t so wet, I wouldn’t have bothered Miss Jiang.”
She’s definitely angry.
No doubt about it.
“Alright, stop with the sarcasm. It’s not like I could control when sleep hits me, could I?”
“……”
Seeing her ignore her, Jiang Ciqiu grew annoyed, though she knew she was in the wrong. With a sigh, she reached out to grab Chu Han’s arm to help her up.
“Let’s get out first. It’s late. If you’re angry, go back to your room and sulk all you want—no one’s stopping you… Whoa! Your arm’s freezing!”
Chu Han scoffed. “If you’d come any later, it wouldn’t just be cold—it might’ve gone stiff.”
“Stiff… You wouldn’t freeze to death. I’m here now, aren’t I?”
Jiang Ciqiu had little patience to begin with, and drowsiness was already gnawing at her frayed nerves. She really didn’t want to argue with Chu Han.
“Fine, fine, my bad. It won’t happen again. The housekeeper will be here the day after tomorrow.” She yawned. “Let’s just go to bed for now.”
Chu Han stayed silent.
Taking it as agreement, Jiang Ciqiu pulled her up—perhaps misjudging her strength after just waking up, or maybe surprised by how light Chu Han was. Whatever the case, she yanked too hard, sending Chu Han crashing into her arms.
“Whoa!” Jiang Ciqiu exclaimed, nearly losing her balance, then suddenly felt the softness pressing against her arm and body.
Without thinking, she muttered, “So soft.”
