Chapter 23: “She Blocked You…”
That sentence nearly made Qiao Sijin choke to death. Fu Qingyun still has feelings for her?
Absurd. Absolutely ridiculous.
She’d sooner believe Fu Qingyun was just lusting after her youthful beauty—at least that would make more sense.
“But Boss, what happened after with your friend?” Li Ke asked with a sly look. “Let me guess… they made up and lived happily ever after?”
That knowing gaze and tone made Qiao Sijin feel uneasy. She instinctively took two steps back.
“Hate to disappoint you,” she said, “but my friend deleted her.”
That response clearly caught Li Ke off guard. She stared blankly for two or three seconds before reacting.
“Well, as the saying goes, it’s better to tear down a temple than break up a couple. Boss… are you sure those two weren’t mortal enemies? At this point, if there’s still no forgiveness, it’s a bit too much, don’t you think?”
Li Ke went on, enthusiastically explaining her own worldview and expressing her strong disapproval.
“And why delete her unless the other party really did something unforgivable?”
It was over. This girl was like a dam with the gates blown open—impossible to shut her up now.
Qiao Sijin gave a resigned sigh. After all, this whole mess started because of her. So she gave up and laid her cards on the table.
“That’s right. I deleted Fu Qingyun…”
Even she didn’t expect that Fu Qingyun would message her last night. Couldn’t they have just pretended like nothing happened?
“Wait, I thought you deleted President Fu when you two fell out. I didn’t expect you still had her contact info,” Li Ke said.
What does that mean? The truth was she’d been too busy and had simply forgotten to delete Fu Qingyun.
“Well, I’ve deleted her now!”
With her arms crossed, Qiao Sijin plopped herself angrily onto the sofa, one leg crossed over the other. Even without makeup at home, she was as stunning as a lotus fresh out of the water.
Hearing the tone in her boss’s voice, Li Ke dared not provoke her further. She just sighed silently. The saying was right—being in love really did lower your IQ.
“Deleted… so that means it’s over. Unless, of course, President Fu comes after you again.”
“You should probably prepare yourself.”
Of course, what Li Ke really meant by “prepare yourself” wasn’t that Fu Qingyun would come begging with a gentle attitude, but something far more intense.
Like showing up with a team of bodyguards on a dark moonless night, tossing a sack over her boss’s head, dragging her into an alley, and giving her a good beating.
That actually felt very possible—especially with how infuriating her boss’s behavior had been.
First, she lured the woman in by liking her posts, then followed it up with a smooth combo of blocking and deleting.
No wonder someone would be mad!
“I know. Anyway, I’m in the middle of the mountains. She won’t be able to find me. And even if she does, so what?”
“I’ll just have the crew security throw her out.”
At least Qiao Sijin still sounded confident. Li Ke nodded. Sure, Fu Qingyun might be filthy rich, but Qiao Sijin was still her boss.
No way was she about to switch sides. She’d been professionally trained—she’d never betray her boss.
“I support you, Boss! That’s the spirit! Stand up to the evil capitalist overlords!”
Halfway through the sentence, Qiao Sijin frowned. Wait a minute. Did she just insult me too?
“I didn’t mean it like that, Boss. I’m totally on your side!”
Ah, money—always hard-earned.
Seeing the situation, Li Ke wisely dropped to her knees in a playful pose. Qiao Sijin just laughed, knowing full well how much Li Ke had been working non-stop with her recently.
“I actually discussed giving you a raise with Sister Tao. The company’s approval should come through this month.”
“Really? Boss, I love you so much!”
That unexpected bonus had Li Ke over the moon.
…
Meanwhile, on the other side—
Fu Qingyun stared at the chat screen all day, with no reply.
But she didn’t send any follow-up messages asking why Qiao Sijin hadn’t responded. She just sat there, silently staring at the empty chat, the only thing left being her message from the morning:
“Good morning.”
Could everything Shen Ran said have been a lie? Fu Qingyun fell into deep thought, resting her chin in her hand and absentmindedly pouting.
“So? Did Qiao Sijin reply to you?”
Shen Ran was supposed to leave tonight, but she decided to stay a bit longer—she wanted to help this clueless blockhead one last time.
As expected, she found Fu Qingyun sitting on the couch, phone in hand, turning the screen on and off. It wasn’t hard to guess what she was doing.
Waiting for a message she desperately wanted.
Fu Qingyun put on a show of nonchalance, setting the phone down on the table.
“No reply.”
That was hard for Shen Ran to believe. In her mind, Qiao Sijin was always polite—definitely more courteous than Fu Qingyun.
“What did you say to her? Don’t tell me you pissed her off again…!”
If that were the case, not even the gods could save her. Shen Ran dramatically threw her head back.
She grabbed the phone from the table, determined to see what exactly Fu Qingyun said that had led to her being blocked.
“I only sent one thing—‘Good morning.’”
Sure enough, that was all she saw on the screen.
…Okay, she was speechless. Absolutely done.
“You sent ‘good morning’? That’s supposed to be sincere? What are you, an emperor waiting for your courtiers to serve you?”
“Watch and learn. I’ll show you how to message someone properly.”
Shen Ran sat down, turned the screen so Fu Qingyun could see it, and confidently began typing a whole paragraph.
Fu Qingyun was intrigued, sitting obediently to the side, hands clasped under her chin, watching curiously.
“The weather’s great today. How is it over there?”
Fu Qingyun frowned at this strange opener. What kind of line was that?
“Relax, that’s just the first line—basic small talk. There’s more. Don’t be so impatient. You won’t get anywhere rushing things.”
Shen Ran was confident. Fu Qingyun, knowing she lacked social skills, obediently shut her mouth.
Shen Ran hit send.
And in the next instant, a red exclamation mark appeared.
“…She blocked you.”
