- Chapter 22 - She wanted to slap herself, wondering why she had brought it home in the first place
Ever since those three men had taken her home hand in hand from the dinner party, Bai Zixin’s life had never been peaceful.
Every morning when she opened her eyes, someone on her left was feeding her milk, someone on her right was squeezing toothpaste onto her brush, and someone behind her was already holding a tablet, asking what flavor she wanted for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, how well done she wanted it, and how many eggs to cook.
At lunch break, one of them would be waiting outside the clinic with a luxury car. When the wind blew, the car would open an umbrella by itself, offer her tea, and even smooth her hair.
After dinner, when she only wanted to catch up on her drama in peace, three voices came one after another:
“Do you want me to do your facial?”
“Shall I run the bath water?”
“I’m more gentle when blow-drying your hair. Let me do it.”
Bai Zixin froze for ten seconds like she had evaporated, and finally—on a calm (actually not calm at all) night—she exploded.
With a dessert box in one hand, she dragged three grown men into the living room with the other. She slammed a stack of paper and a pen onto the coffee table, her face red with anger.
“Let’s! Line up!”
Gao Muting raised an eyebrow and asked coldly, “Line up… for what?”
Bai Zixin almost choked on her own fury. “Of course it’s for sleeping together—no! I mean, for spending time together!”
Her ears burned red as she tried to act serious. She divided the paper into the seven days of the week, writing stricter than a doctor’s chart.
“Each of you gets two days, and I get one day for myself. On Sunday, I demand complete silence—no interruptions, and no one is allowed within one meter of me.”
Ye Yibai was the first to protest. He raised his hand, his voice soft but pitiful: “Only two days…?” He sounded like a child given a cake with less sugar, disappointed enough to apply for a subsidy for heartbroken lovers in the galaxy.
Gao Muting’s eyes turned icy. “Why not three days for me?”
Bai Zixin glared. “So I made this schedule just to watch you fight? This is called fairness!”
Before she could catch her breath, the three of them spoke in perfect unison, their voices blending as if rehearsed:
“We can do it together.”
Bai Zixin: “…………Are you insane???”
She jabbed a finger toward the bedroom. “That bed is only one-point-eight meters long! You’re three full-grown men—are you trying to turn me into a compressed biscuit?!”
The three exchanged glances, as if sharing some silent agreement.
Gao Muting said calmly, “I’ll let you sleep in the middle.”
Ye Yibai nodded obediently. “I only take up a quarter. Not much.”
Then Pei Yanchuan finally spoke. His voice was slow, low, and magnetic enough to make hearts tremble.
“I don’t need the bed… I can sleep standing while holding you.”
After those words, he stepped closer, half-knelt at the edge of the coffee table, his long fingers brushing against the wood. The chandelier’s light outlined his sharp profile. His narrow eyes curved slightly, his lips carried a faint smile, and his beauty was too sharp, like an obsidian statue come alive. Even his eyelashes seemed to spark with electricity.
He was like a fox.
The kind of fox that could trick you out of candy, your heart, and eventually even the deed to your house.
Bai Zixin: “…” She wanted nothing more than to slap herself and ask why she had ever brought him home.
Her head steamed with anger. She pointed to the door and shouted, “Go! Sleep! In! The! Living! Room! Tonight! I don’t care if it’s the floor, the sofa, or even the terrace—go reflect on yourselves!”
The three paused, and then, shockingly, left without a word of protest.
But at the door, Pei Yanchuan suddenly turned back. He lowered his head, looking at her up close. In his eyes, her angry little face reflected clearly. His voice softened unbelievably.
“You’re cute even when you’re mad… Do you want me to add another shift tomorrow? I want more time on the weekend.”
Bai Zixin’s face turned redder than an apple. She grabbed a pillow and hurled it at him.
“Get out!!!”
She slammed the door shut.
The three men in the living room looked at each other.
Ye Yibai spread out a mat. “Who’s taking the floor?”
Gao Muting snorted coldly. “No need to fight. I’ll take the sofa.”
Pei Yanchuan stretched lazily, unbuttoning his coat as if it were the most natural thing in the world.
“I came late. So… whose shift is she on tonight?”
The other two glared at him in unison. “Get lost!!”
Pei Yanchuan’s smile was sly, his tone foxy. “Tsk. So when none of you can have her, you suddenly unight?”
What’s the point of him smiling like that? He’s just pure evil.
At half past midnight, Bai Zixin’s room was silent.
She slept soundly, curled up under her fluffy quilt, cheek buried into her pillow, only a few little teeth peeking out—like a cat still sulking after a tantrum.
But then—
The door creaked open with a faint click.
Three tall figures slipped inside. One moved left, one moved right, and one stayed in the middle. Their steps were soundless, their coordination practiced, like a spy team trained for midnight missions.
Pei Yanchuan whispered, serious as a commander: “Shift her to the right. I’ll hold her legs.”
Gao Muting’s voice was cool. “I’ll take the left shoulder.”
Ye Yibai’s smile was soft. “Then I’m stuck in the middle. My arms are warmed up.”
They climbed onto the bed without a sound, each settling into place. Their breathing even slowed, syncing so they wouldn’t wake Bai Zixin.
Around two in the morning.
Bai Zixin stirred. Something was… touching her waist.
She blinked open her eyes and turned her head—
Pei Yanchuan’s face was right there, his half-shadowed features buried against her neck. His breath was warm. His hand slid tighter around her waist.
She woke up instantly.
One thought shot through her mind: Dirty hands!!
“Take your hand away from me!” She slapped the wandering hand without mercy.
Morning came.
Bai Zixin yawned as she sat up groggily. And of course—without suspense—there they were.
All three.
Gao Muting lay soundly asleep on her left, his face calm and composed even in dreams.
On her right, Ye Yibai was still fussing with the quilt, tucking the corners carefully for her.
As for Pei Yanchuan—he hadn’t even bothered with a blanket. He lay on his side in a black T-shirt and pajamas, his hand still resting possessively on her waist. His lips curled with a lazy smile as he spoke, his voice low and hazy like morning mist.
“The floor was too cold last night. I was worried you’d be lonely. So… I came back.”
Bai Zixin: “………………”
The words she said most often in this life burst out again:
“I!! Want!! To!! Move!! Out!!!!!”
The three men answered together, voices calm and steady, as if they’d already rehearsed:
“You can’t bear to leave our bed.”
From that day on, her daily life officially entered a new stage—
