- Chapter 9 - Is this really the legendary S+ daughter with the worst temper?
The breakfast hall of Galaxy Manor was especially lively today.
The soft light of the morning spilled onto the silver-lined long table. On the table, more than ten delicate dishes were laid out in a neat row—star-grilled fish fillet, white fungus milk soup, flavored soft eggs, blueberry jam toast… The fragrance filled the air, the sight was beautiful, even the bionic machines couldn’t help but glance a few times.
But the focus of the whole table was only three people—or rather, the one sitting in the middle.
Bai Zixin—or now, Wen Nuannuan—was wearing a soft floral morning dress. Born as a mixed-bl00d girl, her golden brown hair hung down loosely with a natural curl. She sat at the very center of the table, sipping hot milk soup in small sips, her feet swinging restlessly, looking very much like a little kitten just out of school.
And on her left and right sat two men with overwhelming presence.
On the left, Gao Muting, dressed in a black shirt and army green trousers, cold and sharp, as if he had walked into the dining hall straight from the front lines.
On the right, Ye Yibai, in a deep blue wide-sleeved robe, refined in spirit, like the chief scholar of a high tower library.
They didn’t speak, but their eyes had already clashed ten rounds.
“…” The two men’s eyes fought a silent battle.
Bai Zixin ate with her eyes curved in a smile, as if watching Animal Planet.
Suddenly, Gao Muting’s cold face turned quiet. He poured her a glass of hot milk, lowering his voice: “Drink more. It will make your sleep better.”
Bai Zixin blinked with a smile. “Oh~ the cold-faced husband is acting sweet!”
Ye Yibai refused to lose. He quietly took out a jar of sweet peach jam from a thermal box, his voice low: “I made this in the kitchen last night. Didn’t you say you wanted something sweet?”
“Wow—” Bai Zixin’s eyes lit up at once. She spread it on a piece of bread and took a bite. “You two… are too good at this.”
After tasting it, her face was full of happiness. “So sweet, so delicious… Are you secretly competing to spoil me more?”
Ye Yibai smiled without answering, the tips of his ears quietly red.
Gao Muting muttered, “I don’t compete. I’m simply yours.”
Bai Zixin froze for a second, her own ears heating up. “…Saying things like that is against the rules.”
Before she could recover from her embarrassment, she noticed the mechanical attendant beside her was quietly recording data on her emotional changes: “Miss Bai Zixin, heart rate increased 12%, face-red index has reached the predicted warning value. Should this be marked as a heartbeat reaction?”
Bai Zixin: “…None of your business, stupid robot!”
The whole table burst out laughing.
Just then, she noticed several young attendants still standing nearby, stiff like soldiers, not daring to move.
Hands on her waist, lips pouting, she said: “Why are you standing there not eating? The table is so big. Do you expect me to eat for three? Sit down and eat with us.”
The attendants panicked at once. “M-Master, we cannot sit at the main table… That’s the rule…”
“Rules are dead, but I’m alive!” She pulled a young maid into a chair and placed food onto her plate. “Break the rule today! This meal is the victory feast for round one of my husband-choosing contest!”
The maid’s eyes almost filled with tears, whispering, “Thank you, Master. You really are the kindest S+ lady.”
Bai Zixin bit on her spoon, casting a mischievous look at her two husbands. “So? Am I not different from what you imagined?”
Gao Muting narrowed his eyes. “Completely different.”
Ye Yibai nodded, his tone soft. “But… in a better way.”
She reached out and put another piece of meat on each of their plates, her voice sweet as honey: “Then you two better work harder, or else… I might add another candidate~”
The moment her words fell, two pairs of chopsticks dropped onto the table with a sharp clack.
Gao Muting said coldly, “No.”
Ye Yibai smiled gently, though his eyes held a deeper meaning. “Isn’t there no space left for a fourth chair right now?”
Bai Zixin stuck out her tongue playfully, lifting her juice glass and shaking it. “Really? Then you better work hard. My heart… is full for now, but who knows what tomorrow will bring?”
She tilted her head back and took a sip, a bubble of juice clinging to her lips as she looked up with a smile.
Like someone who knew everything, and at the same time, knew nothing.
She was an S+ heiress, the planet’s highest treasure, their inescapable fate.
And she?
She only smiled with childlike brightness—yet it left them unable to relax for even a moment.
That breakfast, with one simple line of “You better work hard,” dragged the two men from a romance battlefield into a survival competition.
That evening, the Planet Daily reported:
【Breaking】S+ heiress Bai Zixin shared breakfast today with two candidate husbands. Reports say “smiles were frequent, feeding behavior too many times,” the love rivalry is heating up, both husbands entering an intense phase of competition.
—And at that moment, Bai Zixin was lazily sitting on the garden swing, eating peach jelly while thinking:
“Hmm… Should we have hotpot for lunch? That way I can see who peels shrimp for me~”
