After Becoming a Scummy Alpha, I Became a Slave to My Beloved Wife (GL) - Chapter 6
“Sis, you’re also my little friend.”
The latest buzz online was about Qiao Wenyu being falsely accused and the incident during TQ’s performance.
Jiang Nian browsed the trending topics. When she saw that a team had stepped forward to clarify things about Qiao Wenyu, the worry that had been stuck in her chest finally eased a little.
“President Jiang, did you hire a team to help clear Miss Qiao’s name?” Lu Renbing turned her laptop toward Jiang. “These teams are fast. At least Miss Qiao won’t be pushed back into the spotlight.”
“It wasn’t me.”
Jiang Nian hadn’t done it, but as long as the issue was resolved, it didn’t matter who was responsible.
Once things had calmed down online, Jiang Nian felt a strong urge to see Qiao Wenyu in person. She wanted to know if she was still feeling upset, whether she’d been eating properly, and getting enough rest. After contacting her agent, Jiang drove straight to the practice studio and waited quietly downstairs.
She had just come from a company meeting and hadn’t had time to change out of her business suit. Over it, she wore a long coffee-colored trench coat, which made her appear tall and well-proportioned.
A pair of gold-rimmed glasses rested on her nose. They were non-prescription—just for show. She wore them to tone down the mischievous charm of her face and appear more convincing as a leader during meetings.
Qiao Wenyu had just finished her dance practice and was walking out when she noticed someone standing beside a luxury sports car. She didn’t immediately recognize who it was.
The Jiang Nian in the rumors was supposed to be flirtatious and unreliable. After getting to know her, Qiao had found her to be different—not as the rumors said, but rather silly, like a big kid.
Now that she was dressed so differently, Qiao wasn’t quite sure if it was really her.
“Sis?”
Jiang Nian saw Qiao Wenyu coming and waved as she ran over. The wind blew gently across her face.
Qiao Wenyu couldn’t help but laugh.
It was definitely Jiang Nian. Even if her clothes had changed, her every move still screamed “Husky.”
Jiang Nian grabbed Qiao’s shoulders, her sharp eyes scanning her from head to toe. “Are you feeling any better? Did you see the posts online? Someone handled it for you.”
“Yes, I know,” Qiao Wenyu said softly, tucking a lock of hair behind her ear. “I’m fine now. You don’t need to worry.”
They hadn’t seen each other properly for several days. Jiang Nian noticed Qiao’s face was still unnaturally pale. She couldn’t stop herself from lifting a hand to gently touch Qiao’s smooth forehead. Her red wine-scented pheromones filled the air.
“How’s your health?” Jiang asked quietly, eyes lowered.
Qiao Wenyu subtly leaned away from her hand. “I’ve been taking my medicine.”
“That’s good…”
Seeing Qiao Wenyu still acting the same, Jiang Nian felt a bit of disappointment in her heart and slowly pulled her hand back. “Come on, I’ll take you home.”
Qiao nodded and got into the front passenger seat.
Jiang walked around the car to check the tires before getting in on the driver’s side. But as soon as she sat down, her vision darkened, and a wave of dizziness swept over her.
She shook her head, closed her eyes for a moment, and then opened them again. Her vision cleared. Ignoring the strange feeling, she started the car and drove onto the main road.
It was rush hour, and traffic was heavy. Waiting ten minutes at a red light wasn’t unusual.
When the light turned green, Jiang Nian hit the gas just before it started flashing.
But as she turned the corner, everything started spinning. She slammed on the brakes just in time to avoid crashing into a utility pole. A mother and her young daughter on the sidewalk were startled. The little girl burst into tears.
Qiao Wenyu quickly realized something was wrong. She got out of the car and walked over to calm the situation. Taking a candy a friend had stuffed into her pocket earlier, she crouched beside the crying girl and comforted her. She then turned to apologize to the nearby pedestrians.
The mother, fortunately, was kind and understanding. She hugged her daughter and encouraged her to thank Qiao.
“Thank you for the candy, big sister,” the little girl said sweetly.
After smoothing things over, Qiao looked back toward Jiang’s car. By then, Jiang Nian had pulled over and was slumped in the driver’s seat with her eyes closed, clearly not feeling well.
“You… you released too much pheromone just now,” Qiao said as she got back into the car, a bit helpless. She rolled up all the windows, lifted her long hair, and peeled off the suppressant patch on her neck, exposing the gland that Jiang had temporarily marked.
The faint scent of roses gently spread in the air.
Smelling the scent of her exclusive omega, Jiang Nian gradually relaxed. The discomfort in her body eased. Under the influence of Qiao’s pheromones, she couldn’t stop herself from wanting to get closer.
No! She’s the main character—I can’t touch her!
She pinched her thigh hard to snap herself out of the haze brought on by the pheromones.
“Sis, could you suppress your pheromones? I just need a minute to calm down.” Jiang Nian turned to face the window, not daring to look at her again.
Pheromones with high compatibility could trigger strong physical responses. Even without romantic feelings, the body naturally wanted to get closer.
Qiao Wenyu looked at Jiang Nian, curled up in the driver’s seat, and let out a soft sigh. “Now you understand what I usually go through, don’t you?”
“Huh?”
Qiao blushed slightly. “When I’m around too much pheromone, I lose control—just like you did.”
“Yeah…”
Jiang covered her face. “But I still want to help you get better. I’ll be more careful from now on.”
Qiao thought Jiang Nian was a bit childish—stubborn when it came to certain things. “Just take care of your own health first. Get some proper rest.”
Jiang Nian slumped over the steering wheel and glanced sideways at Qiao Wenyu.
“Sis, come home with me to meet the family, okay?”
At Jiang Xian’s request, Jiang Nian brought Qiao Wenyu to her family estate the very next day.
The Jiang family’s old residence was located in the suburbs—a massive four-story villa with a sprawling garden and a swimming pool. It had every luxury imaginable. Even before stepping inside, one could see a row of high-end luxury cars lined up neatly in the outdoor parking lot.
Jiang Nian glanced at the car logos and couldn’t help but take a few extra looks.
So expensive. So many zeroes.
The elderly butler at the door lit up when he saw the young lady return. He walked up warmly.
“President Jiang, Miss Qiao, the Chairwoman is waiting for you upstairs.”
“Good evening,” Jiang Nian greeted him politely.
The butler was surprised. The young lady usually came home with a cold face and never greeted anyone. Today felt… different.
Qiao Wenyu smiled at him gently. “Hello.”
The butler led the two guests along a long path from the main gate to the front entrance of the house. The path was designed beautifully, with small bridges and flowing water. Walking along it, one could enjoy the scenery of flowers and plants lining the way.
By the time they reached the entrance, the house staff was already lined up in a formal welcome. The attention was entirely focused on Qiao Wenyu.
“Uh…” Jiang Nian had never seen such a grand reception. She felt a little overwhelmed.
Qiao Wenyu looked pleased, looping her arms through Jiang Nian’s and whispering softly,
“Xiao Nian, your family is really… enthusiastic.”
The two had discussed it beforehand. To avoid unnecessary misunderstandings, especially with Jiang Xian, they agreed to act like a loving couple.
Jiang Nian gave Qiao Wenyu a doting look.
“Of course. Since Sis is coming home, everything has to be perfect.”
Following the butler’s lead, the two sat down in the living room.
Before long, Jiang Xian came down the stairs, the sound of her heels sharp against the floor. Her eyes, so similar to Jiang Nian’s, swept over Qiao Wenyu, analyzing her with precision.
“Good evening, Auntie.”
Qiao Wenyu stood up and greeted her politely, offering a beautifully wrapped gift box.
“This is a small gift for you.”
Inside was a luxury silk scarf. Jiang Xian opened the box to take a glance, then closed it again.
“Thank you, Xiaoyu. That’s very thoughtful of you.”
Every time Jiang Nian saw her mother, she felt inexplicably tense. Her instincts told her Jiang Xian was far from easy to deal with.
“Jiang Nian,” Jiang Xian suddenly shifted the topic, “when are you two planning to have children?”
Caught off guard, Jiang Nian gave a vague answer. “Maybe in a couple of years.”
“How long is ‘a couple of years’? You’re an alpha. You should be thinking about leaving behind an excellent alpha heir.”
Jiang Xian didn’t need to raise her voice to make her presence overwhelming.
Jiang Nian couldn’t meet her gaze. “Yes, I know. But Wenyu hasn’t been feeling well lately. So we haven’t brought it up.”
Jiang Xian turned her sharp gaze to Qiao Wenyu.
“Wenyu, what’s wrong with your health?”
“Auntie,” Qiao Wenyu replied calmly, “I have pheromone deficiency syndrome. It needs slow treatment.”
Jiang Xian narrowed her eyes. “Pheromone deficiency? Once Jiang Nian fully marks you, your glands will start producing pheromones again. There’s no need for ‘treatment’ unless…”
Her tone dropped.
“Unless the two of you are only pretending to be bonded.”
Jiang Nian had expected this. Her mother was a fox—nothing escaped her.
“Mom, it’s my fault. I’ve been working too much. If I release too many pheromones, it makes me unwell. It’s not Wenyu’s fault.”
“Hmph.” Jiang Xian scoffed.
“You have time for the company but not to build a family? I don’t care if you two are genuinely in love or not—there has to be a child.”
“Okay. I understand,” Jiang Nian replied and gently nudged Qiao Wenyu with her elbow.
Qiao echoed obediently, “Yes, Auntie.”
At dinner, Jiang Xian brought up Qiao Wenyu’s father. From scattered bits of conversation, Jiang Nian pieced together the full picture.
Qiao Wenyu had taken her mother’s surname. Her mother was a low-status omega who had gotten pregnant by accident. Her father was Yan Zhong, a true business mogul with countless assets and many children.
In a powerful family like that, Qiao Wenyu meant almost nothing. Her mother had no name, no status. And being an omega herself, Qiao Wenyu was completely ignored by her father.
Jiang Nian felt a deeper ache in her heart after hearing this. Yan Zhong had simply traded his daughter to the Jiang family to secure a strong business partnership. No one cared about what Qiao Wenyu wanted, and no one asked how she felt.
After dinner, Jiang Xian had business to attend to and drove off.
Jiang Nian, feeling restless at home and uncomfortable under all the surveillance, suggested they go for a walk. There happened to be a small night market nearby—a lively spot that offered a rare sense of everyday life in this wealthy neighborhood.
The butler had told Jiang Nian about it earlier, suggesting she take Qiao Wenyu there to unwind.
Neither of them had eaten much during dinner. The market had food stalls and street snacks—grabbing some late-night bites sounded perfect.
“Did you come here often as a kid?” Qiao Wenyu asked. She seemed more relaxed now.
“Yeah, I did,” Jiang Nian replied.
Back in her own world, she and her roommates often went out for street food. Grab a bite, have a chat, play some silly games, maybe win a stuffed animal at a booth—that was happiness, plain and simple.
Thinking of that, Jiang Nian tugged Qiao Wenyu by the wrist and pointed toward a shooting game booth in the distance.
“Come on! I’m going to win you a plush toy.”
The booth owner spotted the two young women and eagerly welcomed them.
“Ten yuan for five shots, twenty yuan for fifteen shots, fifty yuan for sixty. Hit ten balloons and you get a prize! Want to give it a try?”
“Which one do you like?” Jiang Nian asked Qiao Wenyu.
Qiao had never played anything like this before. She looked at the stuffed toys hanging above the booth and paused slightly longer on a snow-white bunny.
“Forget it. These are for kids.”
“You like that bunny?” Jiang Nian leaned down, her lips brushing close to Qiao’s ear. “It’s cute… kind of like you, sis.”
“You…”
Qiao Wenyu’s earlobes flushed pink, and a soft blush crept across her cheeks.
Jiang Nian handed over fifty yuan, picked up a toy rifle, and stood confidently at the marked line. Her long hair flowed in the evening breeze. She turned and winked at Qiao Wenyu.
“Sis, you’re my little one too.”
