After Becoming a Scummy Alpha, I Met the Reborn Omega (GL) - Chapter 11
System Sirius is attempting to connect with the protagonist [Lin Changsheng]…
Connecting in 3, 2, 1…
Connection successful.
“What… is that sound?”
Lin Changsheng felt dizzy and heavy-headed.
A sharp pain throbbed in her skull, and then—
a mechanical voice echoed directly in her mind.
“Hello, Lin Changsheng.
I am the Sirius System.
Finally, I’ve connected to you.”
“What? What system?
Why is there someone talking inside my head?!”
“Please remain calm and listen carefully to what I’m about to explain.”
Lin Changsheng forced her eyes open—only to find herself floating in a vast, dark universe. Though the surroundings were black, countless stars glittered around her, casting a soft light across the expanse.
In the distance, there were planets— planets that looked eerily similar to Earth.
“In this universe,” the voice continued, there exist countless parallel worlds.
Each world contains the same people, but due to different life experiences, their fates unfold incompletely different ways. We call these worlds ‘parallel universes.”
“In World No. 10086—the world you’re currently in— the protagonist, Lin Changsheng, fell into darkness and nearly caused the destruction of the entire world.
Normally, we would not interfere.
However, something unexpected happened:
this world was forcibly reset.”
Lin Changsheng watched as the Earth in front of her slowly rotated out of sight—
and another Earth appeared.
“This,” said the voice, is World No. 10000. Your original world.
“We extracted your data and placed you into World 10086, hoping you can prevent the original Lin Changsheng from repeating the same disastrous ending.”
Lin Changsheng’s mind was spinning.
So much information had been thrown at her at once— it was hard to process.
“So… this isn’t my future?” she asked hesitantly.
“Correct,” the system confirmed.
“Then… what about the me from my original world?”
“We created a data copy of you. She will continue to live your life in World 10000, exactly as before.”
“Can I return to my original world?”
“You cannot.”
“Why not?!” Lin Changsheng cried out.
“We sealed the original Lin Changsheng in this world and inserted you in her place. You will stay here permanently.”
The original is still resisting the seal— which is why we couldn’t connect with you before.
Fortunately, her resistance has weakened over time, and now we were able to reach you.
“You can retrieve pieces of the original’s memories by touching objects related to her. That, too, is a feature we enabled for you.”
“Why… Why did you drag me into this world?”
Why me? Lin Changsheng thought.
“We needed someone to replace the original Lin Changsheng— someone to uncover what exactly she experienced that led her to be swallowed by dark energy.”
“You mean… you couldn’t just investigate it yourselves?”
“In the countless parallel worlds, you are the one whose experiences most closely mirror this world’s Lin Changsheng. You are the most suitable candidate.
“We don’t monitor every world individually— only those where major incidents occur. World 10086 is such a case.”
“And if I refuse?” Lin Changsheng asked coldly.
“Then we will erase your data and find another candidate willing to help us.”
“So… I have no choice?”
“Correct. Lin Changsheng, your immediate mission is to stop the launch of the new drug. The original Lin Changsheng tampered with that batch of medicine, and it played a major role in the eventual destruction of the world. You must uncover the truth behind it.”
“I’ve already started investigating the drug,” Lin Changsheng muttered, “but you also want me to figure out why the original turned evil… Where am I supposed to even start?”
“That’s up to you to figure out. We will contact you again if necessary. Good luck.”
The mechanical voice disappeared without warning.
Lin Changsheng woke up with a jolt, gasping for air.
She wasn’t sure if it had been a dream or reality— but everything had felt too vivid to ignore.
One thing was clear: she had to investigate her own background.
If this truly wasn’t her own world, then her past must differ even if only slightly— from the original Lin Changsheng’s past.
Even in parallel worlds, no two lives could be exactly the same.
Nearly ten years of events were missing from her memory.
Lin Changsheng had no way to compare.
But if she started from childhood, she might be able to spot the differences.
And if she wanted to find out what had happened over these past ten years,
the best person to ask would be her sister.
Sitting on the bed, Lin Changsheng lightly pressed her fist against her lips,
occasionally nibbling her knuckles with her teeth as she sank into deep thought,
completely unaware that Mo Zhaoyan was quietly watching her from the doorway.
Mo Zhaoyan was stunned.
It had been a long, long time since she had seen Lin Changsheng make that gesture.
Back when they had first gotten married, Lin Changsheng always did that— biting her hand slightly when she was thinking.
But after just one year of marriage, that habit had changed.
She began to absentmindedly stroke her lips instead. Even her gaze had grown cold and dark.
Mo Zhaoyan still remembered— how sweet their first year of marriage had been.
Back then, Lin Changsheng’s eyes sparkled with light.
Her face always wore a bright, genuine smile.
When she secretly stole glances at Mo Zhaoyan and got caught, she would blush shyly— each little movement made Mo Zhaoyan’s heart flutter.
Although she had never said anything aloud, she had believed that Lin Changsheng could understand her silent affection.
But later, everything changed.
Starting from the second year of marriage, Lin Changsheng grew obsessed with her work and experiments.
She began suffering from insomnia, relying on alcohol to sleep.
And with that came arguments— more and more frequent.
Mo Zhaoyan had never understood why Lin Changsheng changed so drastically.
The distance between them grew wider until even being together felt like torture.
Two people who were supposed to be in love— ended up walking toward their own ruin.
After Lin Changsheng’s death, Mo Zhaoyan took all the blame onto herself, believing it was her lack of care that had caused everything to fall apart.
Yet now— watching Lin Changsheng sitting there, nibbling her hand in thought— the familiar gesture had returned.
The familiar smile had returned. Even the bright light in her eyes was back.
This was the Lin Changsheng she remembered.
“Lin Changsheng.”
Mo Zhaoyan’s soft voice snapped Lin Changsheng out of her thoughts.
She looked up,
her face breaking into a familiar, warm smile.
“Why are you here?”
“Still half-asleep?”
Mo Zhaoyan asked gently, her voice full of tenderness.
It was her longing for this version of Lin Changsheng that had kept Mo Zhaoyan going all these years.
The Lin Changsheng who had loved her wholeheartedly—
the Lin Changsheng from that bright, beautiful first year of marriage.
It was that memory, that nostalgia, that Mo Zhaoyan clung to.
Perhaps it was because of the painful confusion afterward— because she could never understand why everything had gone so wrong— that she had developed such a deep, stubborn attachment to the past.
She remembered the warmth Lin Changsheng had once brought into her life.
Before Lin Changsheng, Mo Zhaoyan had believed herself destined for loneliness.
She had never expected that someone could have silently loved her for so many years— so sincerely, so deeply.
Even during the last two years, when that warmth had vanished, when everything had grown cold— Mo Zhaoyan still loved her, still longed for the person Lin Changsheng used to be.
Finally noticing her surroundings, Lin Changsheng realized— this was her room.
At some point, someone had cleaned it spotless.
Even the lights had been replaced with new ones— warm-toned, whimsical in shape, exactly the kind she liked.
Lin Changsheng blinked in surprise.
How did Mo Zhaoyan know she liked these kinds of floral lights?
“Did you carry me back?” she asked, feeling a bit embarrassed.
It was mortifying enough for a grown woman to need to be carried.
Mo Zhaoyan, true to her nature, answered honestly, “No. I asked my assistant to carry you. I couldn’t manage it myself.”
Her frankness made Lin Changsheng even more flustered.
Her face heated up in embarrassment.
“What happened to you in the lab today?”
Lin Changsheng’s face flushed slightly.
She thought back to the confrontation she’d had with that strange consciousness—
most likely the remnant of the original Lin Changsheng.
Realizing that she hadn’t actually done all those terrible things in the future made her heart feel a lot lighter.
“Nothing really,” she replied.
“Maybe… I was just too exhausted.”
“Make sure you rest more,”
Mo Zhaoyan said gently.
After that, an awkward silence fell between them.
Lin Changsheng, wanting to find a topic to break it, suddenly remembered her earlier plan.
“Yesterday you said you’d help me find my sister’s contact information.
Did you find anything?”
Mo Zhaoyan lowered her eyes for a moment,
then said calmly,
“I found your sister’s current address.
You’ll have to go see her yourself.”
After a few taps on her phone,
Lin Changsheng received a message—
an address.
She made a mental note to visit tomorrow—
fortunately, it would be Saturday and she’d have time.
Seeing that Lin Changsheng was awake and seemed fine,
Mo Zhaoyan decided to finally get some sleep herself.
She glanced at the clock.
It was already past 3 a.m.—
there was still time for a few hours’ rest.
Earlier, while Lin Changsheng had been unconscious,
Mo Zhaoyan had stayed by her side the entire time,
afraid something might happen.
Luckily, Lin Changsheng had simply been sleeping deeply and had woken up naturally.
“You should get some more rest too,”
Mo Zhaoyan said.
“I’ll head back to my room.”
Lin Changsheng glanced down at the address on her phone, then looked up at Mo Zhaoyan with a hint of reluctance.
Subconsciously, she didn’t want her to leave.
“You’re really going back to your room to sleep?” she asked softly.
After all, ever since she had crossed into this world,
she had always slept beside Mo Zhaoyan.
Now, the idea of being alone felt strangely unsettling.
“Of course,” Mo Zhaoyan said, laughing softly.
“I even had the lights changed for you. You’re not still scared of sleeping alone, are you, little coward?”
Being called a coward, Lin Changsheng naturally refused to admit it.
“I can sleep by myself!” She huffed, yanking the blanket up over her head.
As she buried herself under the covers, she heard Mo Zhaoyan’s soft voice whisper, “Goodnight.”
Then came the sound of the door gently closing.
Lin Changsheng peeked out from under the blanket, gazing toward the door.
She really left.
Meanwhile, far away, the Sirius System was discussing the situation with its companion.
“Is this really, okay?” one voice asked.
“We lied to the protagonist. What if she regains her memory later?”
“We had no choice,” the other replied calmly.
“Who would’ve thought the dark consciousness would trap her for so many years?
We barely managed to free the real Lin Changsheng. We can’t risk letting that thing resurface.”
“I looked into it,” the first voice continued, “That dark consciousness started taking root right after she married Mo Zhaoyan. It slowly eroded her mind, and by the end of their first year of marriage, it had completely taken over— sealing the original Lin Changsheng deep inside her own body.”
“Which explains everything that happened afterward,” the second voice added.
“Fortunately, we managed to release her now, even if she lost her memories and thinks she’s only twenty years old.”
“Our mission is complete. With the real Lin Changsheng back, the world’s fate should stay on the right path.”
“…I hope so,” the first voice said quietly.
