After Becoming a Scummy Alpha, I Met the Reborn Omega (GL) - Chapter 12
Lin Changsheng did not go to work today. After informing Mo Zhaoyan in the morning, he left to look for his elder sister’s address. Mo Zhaoyan still had to go to the company today. She probably wouldn’t have any rest for a while; until that batch of medicine was dealt with, there would likely be no free time.
After Lin Changsheng left, however, Mo Zhaoyan made a phone call.
It was still the same person as before. The call was quickly answered, with a cold and simple response: “What is it?”
“Changsheng will come find you shortly,” Mo Zhaoyan said.
A long silence followed. Just as Mo Zhaoyan was about to hang up, a voice finally came through, “I understand. Has she really lost her memory?”
“Yes.”
“Have you found out what caused it?”
Mo Zhaoyan suspected that it might have been caused by her own time-traveling, but she couldn’t be completely sure. Moreover, the hospital had found no problems with Lin Changsheng’s body.
“No,” she replied.
The person on the other end of the line was none other than Lin Changsheng’s biological elder sister, Lin Xiaoyou.
There had been rumors that Lin Changsheng had severed ties with her sister because she wanted to marry into a wealthy family, and Lin Xiaoyou disapproved.
However, that was not the whole truth. Lin Xiaoyou indeed did not want Lin Changsheng to become entangled with Mo Zhaoyan. Lin Changsheng had already sacrificed too much for Mo Zhaoyan. Watching her foolishly give without expecting anything in return, Lin Xiaoyou could not bear to see her sister abandon everything for this relationship. After all, in love, the one who is humble often gains nothing.
There was also the matter of their parents’ deaths. Lin Changsheng had always blamed herself, but Lin Xiaoyou held Mo Zhaoyan more responsible. Out of anger, Lin Xiaoyou had rashly said she wanted to cut ties with Lin Changsheng. Those harsh words hurt Lin Changsheng deeply, and after her marriage, she never mentioned her sister again.
Mo Zhaoyan often saw Lin Changsheng staring blankly at photos of herself and her sister, sadness filling her eyes. A marriage without the blessing of family is a bitter one. It was from that time onward that Mo Zhaoyan began secretly reaching out to Lin Xiaoyou.
Without telling Lin Changsheng, she visited Lin Xiaoyou repeatedly. At first, Lin Xiaoyou turned her away without even opening the door. But Mo Zhaoyan refused to give up, continuing to visit every week and often providing financial assistance.
Eventually, Lin Xiaoyou relented and opened the door. Yet when the two of them sat together on the sofa, they found nothing to say. Lin Xiaoyou had coldly stated, “If it’s about Lin Changsheng, there’s nothing to discuss.”
Mo Zhaoyan did not leave. She simply sat there, saying nothing about Lin Changsheng, observing what Lin Xiaoyou’s household needed, and leaving quietly when the time came—only to return again the next week.
Through this relentless persistence, Lin Xiaoyou was eventually worn down, and they finally had a real conversation.
After that incident, Lin Changsheng’s personality grew more subdued, her smile fading away—until one day she came home brimming with joy, saying that Mo Zhaoyan had agreed to marry her. It was the first time since their parents’ passing that Lin Xiaoyou had seen such a bright smile on her sister’s face.
Lin Xiaoyou should have offered her blessing. But at that time, the internet was full of vicious insults towards Lin Changsheng. Even at work, she faced constant bullying and oppression. Lin Changsheng was already suffering terribly, and being with Mo Zhaoyan would only bring her more harm. Thus, Lin Xiaoyou refused to allow Lin Changsheng to marry her.
She even resorted to threatening to sever ties, thinking her sister would eventually give in. But she had underestimated Lin Changsheng’s love for Mo Zhaoyan. She had underestimated what Mo Zhaoyan meant to her.
Even without the approval of society, even without the blessing of her own sister, Lin Changsheng still chose to marry Mo Zhaoyan, standing alone against the world.
Throughout this period, Mo Zhaoyan never gave up. She continued her efforts, trying to mend the bond between the two sisters. Lin Xiaoyou saw it all. To say she was not moved would be a lie.
Finally, she agreed to Mo Zhaoyan’s request and decided to meet her sister once more.
At that time, Lin Xiaoyou had been busy preparing for her own wedding, so the matter was delayed. On the day of her wedding, she had thought of inviting Lin Changsheng, hoping to ease the tension between them.
Lin Changsheng did attend—but she caused a major scene at the wedding.
Lin Xiaoyou’s wife, Gu Ximeng, was an Alpha (A), with the most ordinary kind of genes. She and Lin Xiaoyou had been childhood friends, growing up together. When Gu Ximeng turned twenty, she suffered a sudden illness. Her legs weakened, and she struggled to walk. At first, it seemed like just a sprain, but despite spending the family’s entire fortune on treatments, there was no improvement.
As her condition worsened, she could only walk with crutches. Though her life was saved, she was left permanently disabled. She lost her job and became unable to care for herself. Gu Ximeng once tried to break up with Lin Xiaoyou, believing herself to be a burden. But Lin Xiaoyou refused to leave her. Later, after the deaths of Lin Xiaoyou’s parents, both women became each other’s sole support.
The reason Lin Changsheng caused a scene at the wedding was because she looked down on Gu Ximeng.
“You’re a cripple,” she had said harshly. “You can’t even take care of yourself—what right do you have to be with my sister? Didn’t you promise to make her happy? Can you even stand up right now? Prove it to me! How can someone who can’t even stand on her own legs talk about happiness?”
Gu Ximeng had always been a proud person, but her illness had ground her pride into the dust. If it hadn’t been for Lin Xiaoyou’s unwavering companionship, she might have lost the will to live long ago. Now, provoked by Lin Changsheng’s cruel words, she burned with fury.
Sitting in her wheelchair, Gu Ximeng struggled to push away those around her and tried to stand. But her body, too weak, betrayed her. She collapsed onto her knees right before Lin Changsheng.
Lin Changsheng let out a mocking laugh, looking down at her with disdain. Lin Xiaoyou rushed forward to help Gu Ximeng, but Gu Ximeng stubbornly pushed her away, determined to rise on her own. Yet no matter how she tried, it was impossible.
Through gritted teeth, she said, “I can stand! I can…”
In Lin Changsheng’s eyes, there was only contempt, her words sharp and full of cruelty—just like those who had once insulted Lin Changsheng online. To Lin Xiaoyou, this Lin Changsheng felt like a complete stranger.
It had only been a year, but the sister she had known for thirty years had become someone she didn’t recognize.
The old Lin Changsheng would never have humiliated another, even when she herself was bullied. She had always been kind at heart.
Tears blurred Lin Xiaoyou’s vision as she slapped Lin Changsheng hard across the face. She couldn’t control her sobs. What hurt the most was realizing that today, she would truly sever ties with her sister.
Once, they had been so close—each other’s only family, each other’s only support. But the girl she loved so dearly, the sister she had known, would never have acted like this. This cruel stranger was not her sister.
“Even if A’Meng can never stand again,” Lin Xiaoyou cried out, voice trembling, “I will stay by her side. I will always be her wife. You are not welcome here. Get out… get out!”
The word “out” seemed to exhaust all her strength.
Finally, the guests reacted and started driving Lin Changsheng away.
Lin Changsheng only wiped the bl00d from her split lip, smirking. “You’re the one who said it. Today, our sisterhood ends. From now on, you walk your wide road, and I walk my narrow bridge. We owe each other nothing.”
Afterward, Mo Zhaoyan visited a few more times. But it wasn’t to reconcile Lin Xiaoyou and Lin Changsheng—it was to bring up a strange point: Lin Changsheng had changed.
No matter the reason, she had become someone unfamiliar.
Eventually, Mo Zhaoyan stopped mentioning Lin Changsheng altogether but still kept in touch with Lin Xiaoyou. Gu Ximeng’s new job was arranged through Mo Zhaoyan’s connections. Although Mo Zhaoyan didn’t press further, Lin Xiaoyou—who had lived closely with Lin Changsheng for decades—began to suspect something.
Where had her real sister gone?
She couldn’t bring herself to believe that the Lin Changsheng standing before her was truly her sister. She imagined all sorts of possibilities: had someone secretly replaced her sister?
Lin Xiaoyou shared this theory with Mo Zhaoyan.
Mo Zhaoyan discreetly arranged for a medical examination of Lin Changsheng. However, all the genetic tests and physical evidence confirmed that Lin Changsheng was still Lin Changsheng.
Left with no proof, Lin Xiaoyou had to abandon her suspicions.
One day, there was a knock at the door.
With a heart full of nervousness, Lin Xiaoyou opened it—only to see Lin Changsheng standing there, smiling brightly, holding a basket of fruit.
“Jie! I’m home!” she said joyfully.
Those words—how many years had it been since she last heard them? Every time Lin Changsheng had returned home from school, she would say the same thing.
That smile, those words—they were exactly the same. After coming home, Lin Changsheng would always eagerly tell her sister about everything that happened at school.
“Jie, let me tell you…”
The memories flooded back. Even though Lin Changsheng had done so many terrible things later, Lin Xiaoyou still couldn’t bear to let go of her.
This was, after all, her last living family member.
Tears flowed uncontrollably down Lin Xiaoyou’s face. Wiping them away, she choked out, “You’re home… it’s good that you’re back…”
