After Becoming a Scummy Alpha, I Met the Reborn Omega (GL) - Chapter 17
The familiar alarm rang out, jolting Hua Miaomiao awake from her dreams.
She hurriedly turned it off and realized she was lying naked, tangled in Tang Ying’s arms.
Slowly, memories of last night’s passion returned to her—they had gone at it until four or five in the morning.
The alarm belonged to Tang Ying, who was utterly exhausted.
At that moment, her brows furrowed slightly, as though about to wake.
Hua Miaomiao, in a good mood, gently tapped her finger against Tang Ying’s forehead, stroking her up and down.
Sure enough, it woke Tang Ying.
She opened her eyes, blinked sleepily for a couple of seconds, then quickly resumed her usual emotionless expression, making Hua Miaomiao feel a touch of regret—such rare expressions, and she wished she could admire them longer.
Tang Ying sat up, her whole body aching.
The faint scent of Hua Miaomiao’s pheromones still lingered in the air—a sign of how wild things had gotten last night.
Rubbing her temples, Tang Ying prepared to take a shower before heading off to work.
But before she could move far, Hua Miaomiao wrapped her arms around her from behind.
Their soft skin pressed together, and the lingering pheromones clung to Tang Ying like a serpent.
Her body, freshly marked, trembled instinctively.
Tang Ying quickly pushed Hua Miaomiao away and strode into the bathroom.
Hua Miaomiao wasn’t angry—Tang Ying was always like this.
As if all the previous passion had been nothing more than an illusion.
Inside the bathroom, Tang Ying turned the faucet to full blast and stared at her reflection in the mirror.
Her body was covered in kiss marks—something that happened every time she and Hua Miaomiao were together.
After being temporarily marked, her body instinctively craved Hua Miaomiao’s pheromones.
It was a feeling she couldn’t control—and one that she despised.
Thus, after every encounter, Tang Ying would deliberately distance herself from Hua Miaomiao for days, waiting until the temporary effects faded before agreeing to meet again.
She hated losing control.
And with Hua Miaomiao, she always felt on the verge of losing it.
Was this indulgence or something worse?
Even Tang Ying herself couldn’t say.
When she finished her shower and emerged, Tang Ying was already dressed neatly.
Hua Miaomiao lay sprawled lazily on the bed, watching her with reluctant eyes.
“So early?” she asked.
“I need to go home and change,” Tang Ying replied simply.
After all, she couldn’t show up at work in yesterday’s clothes, nor could she allow the kiss marks to remain visible.
Without a hint of lingering affection, Tang Ying left.
While Hua Miaomiao was still in the shower, she slipped away quietly.
By the time Hua Miaomiao emerged, the room was already cold and empty.
The sight immediately soured her mood.
Tang Ying was the lover who had stayed with her the longest—and the only one who had never demanded anything.
She never asked Hua Miaomiao for gifts, never showed any sign of affection.
The perfect lover, by all accounts.
Yet Hua Miaomiao felt no happiness from it.
Instead, it made her feel… somehow lacking.
As though she wasn’t enough to truly captivate Tang Ying.
Sitting on the edge of the bed, Hua Miaomiao breathed in the lingering scent of plum blossoms—Tang Ying’s pheromones.
It was a subtle fragrance, sharp yet elegant.
The thought that she wouldn’t see Tang Ying again for several days filled her with melancholy.
“What should I do? You’ve just left, and I’m already starting to miss you,” she murmured.
With a sigh, she turned on the ventilation system to clear the scent from the room.
Meanwhile, at Mo Corporation, Mo Zhaoyan arrived as usual, only to find that Tang Ying was already there, working.
Although Tang Ying had carefully applied foundation to cover the kiss marks on her neck, there were still faint traces of Hua Miaomiao’s pheromone scent lingering on her body.
The smell was so subtle that most wouldn’t notice—but Mo Zhaoyan, being particularly sensitive, caught it.
She glanced at Tang Ying a few more times but said nothing.
After all, it was Tang Ying’s private life, and Mo Zhaoyan wasn’t the type to gossip.
However, around noon, an internal call came through.
The secretary informed her that the president of Huayang Group had arrived, wanting to discuss a cooperation.
Mo Zhaoyan was stunned.
Since when did Mo Corporation have dealings with Huayang?
The two had been rivals for years.
Even though tensions had eased somewhat since Hua Miaomiao took over Huayang, they had never reached the point of discussing cooperation.
And in her past life’s memories, there was no record of such a meeting.
Her unease deepened.
She hated unpredictable variables—anything that might disrupt Lin Changsheng’s future made her extremely nervous.
Still, Hua Miaomiao was already here—how could she refuse to meet?
Quickly composing herself, Mo Zhaoyan had the visitor ushered in.
As expected, Hua Miaomiao arrived with a grand flourish, trailing a retinue of ten bodyguards behind her, making her presence impossible to ignore.
Tang Ying, naturally, caught sight of her.
Their eyes met briefly.
Hua Miaomiao even threw a playful wink her way.
Tang Ying, for once, had the urge to roll her eyes—but she restrained herself and kept her head down, pretending to work.
Seeing herself ignored, Hua Miaomiao felt a slight pang of annoyance.
Entering Mo Zhaoyan’s office, she didn’t bother with pleasantries.
She sat down casually and greeted her with a grin, “President Mo, long time no see.”
Mo Zhaoyan’s lips curved slightly.
“Second Miss Hua, what brings you here today?” she asked, her tone light and guarded.
Though they were long-time rivals, courtesy still had to be maintained—no need to speak too harshly.
“Of course, I’m here to discuss cooperation with President Mo,” Hua Miaomiao said with a wave of her hand, signaling her bodyguards to retreat.
Mo Zhaoyan lowered her gaze slightly, studying Hua Miaomiao without fully understanding her intentions.
Right now, with the launch of the new inhibitor product at such a critical stage—and after Mo Zhaoyan had suddenly delayed the release—what was Hua Miaomiao’s real purpose in proposing a cooperation?
No matter how delicate and harmless Hua Miaomiao appeared, Mo Zhaoyan would never forget—she was a Hua through and through.
And the Hua family produced no saints.
There was no such thing as a “goodwill collaboration” without hidden motives.
“Second Miss Hua, what exactly do you mean?”
Hua Miaomiao truly disliked Mo Zhaoyan—just as Mo Zhaoyan disliked her.
Though she was indeed the second daughter of the Hua family, with her elder brother dead young and the third brother once in charge, Hua Miaomiao had long since grown weary of the “Second Miss” title.
Yet Mo Zhaoyan insisted on using it every time, a subtle but pointed irritation.
Hua Miaomiao smiled, but her gaze was cold.
“I heard your company’s new drug ran into trouble. Coincidentally, we at Huayang are also about to launch a new product.
How about we cooperate? Help each other out a little—it would be a win-win situation.”
Mo Zhaoyan quickly weighed the situation in her mind.
Huayang Group had been working on inhibitor research as well, but they were far behind Mo Corporation.
Word had it that Huayang had since shifted focus to other pharmaceuticals.
There hadn’t been any rumors about a new product launch.
“What kind of drug are you talking about?” Mo Zhaoyan asked.
Hua Miaomiao’s smile grew suggestive.
“A drug that allows people to… indulge themselves,” she said vaguely.
Despite the coy wording, Mo Zhaoyan instantly understood.
By “indulge,” she meant a drug that, under its effects, simulated early onset of heat or susceptibility periods, heightening bodily sensitivity and pleasure—essentially the opposite of an inhibitor.
No wonder there hadn’t been any public leaks about it.
Mo Zhaoyan had always looked down on such drugs—and there was no way she would agree to collaborate with Hua Miaomiao.
“Second Miss Hua, please see yourself out,” Mo Zhaoyan said coolly. “Mo Corporation will not be partnering with Huayang.”
“Don’t be so hasty, President Mo. Everything is negotiable,” Hua Miaomiao said lightly.
“I know you look down on our little company’s products, but isn’t this exactly what could solve your immediate troubles?”
Indeed, the delayed launch of the new inhibitor would cause some setbacks for Mo Corporation.
But was Hua Miaomiao really offering help out of kindness?
Of course not.
In Mo Zhaoyan’s memories, Huayang had never announced any new drug launch.
This was clearly a trap.
Such drugs couldn’t even be openly marketed—how could they be heavily promoted?
Opportunities that fell from the sky usually had knives hidden inside.
Just as Mo Zhaoyan was about to refuse again, the office door opened, and Lin Changsheng walked in.
Hua Miaomiao, seeing her, immediately halted what she was about to say, her eyes glinting with interest.
“Lin Changsheng,” she called out softly.
As Lin Changsheng passed by, she sensed the scrutiny in Hua Miaomiao’s gaze.
But to avoid drawing suspicion, she remained calm and avoided making eye contact—sticking to the principle that the less she said, the fewer mistakes she’d make.
“President Mo, I’m here to deliver the latest report,” Lin Changsheng said.
Normally, she wouldn’t have needed to deliver it personally.
But given the commotion about the Huayang president’s visit, she took the opportunity—hoping perhaps to trigger some forgotten memory.
Unfortunately, standing before Hua Miaomiao stirred no familiarity at all.
No memories surfaced.
Yet Hua Miaomiao’s tone toward her hinted otherwise, as if they were far from strangers.
“President Mo, perhaps you should reconsider,” Hua Miaomiao said, interrupted by Lin Changsheng’s arrival.
Watching how naturally the two interacted, Hua Miaomiao was somewhat surprised.
Outside rumors claimed the two were deeply at odds—stories filled with sensational exaggerations.
She had never fully believed them.
But now, seeing their easy rapport, it was hard to imagine them being truly estranged.
Could the rumors have been entirely false?
“What reconsideration?” Lin Changsheng asked, puzzled.
She hadn’t been present for the earlier conversation.
Mo Zhaoyan calmly explained Hua Miaomiao’s proposal to her without hiding anything—leaving Hua Miaomiao even more astonished.
Lin Changsheng listened and then, without hesitation, said, “Mo Corporation does not need to collaborate with your company.
There are no problems with the new inhibitor. It’ll be ready for market very soon.”
She had already begun modifying the data.
With the original body’s memory foundation, the issue wasn’t particularly difficult to fix.
Hua Miaomiao, hearing the firm rejection, didn’t insist.
In fact, she had never expected a real partnership today—this visit was merely to test the waters.
Now that her purpose was served, she was ready to leave.
“That’s a pity,” Hua Miaomiao said lightly, standing up. “If President Mo changes her mind, you know where to find me.”
With the same grandiose manner she arrived with, Hua Miaomiao turned and left.
As she passed by Tang Ying, she shot another suggestive glance.
Tang Ying, expressionless, turned her head away, pretending not to see it.
However, Mo Zhaoyan noticed something.
Even though Hua Miaomiao had masked her scent with inhibitors, there was still a faint trace left—and it was strangely similar to the scent she had noticed lingering on Tang Ying.
Could Hua Miaomiao have an informant inside the company?
Could it be… Tang Ying?
Mo Zhaoyan refused to believe it.
Tang Ying had grown up by her side.
There was no way she would betray her.
Meanwhile, Hua Miaomiao returned to her own company.
It wasn’t long before Hua Yan—her so-called “third brother”—came hobbling angrily toward her on crutches, only to be stopped by her bodyguards.
Hua Miaomiao watched him, amused.
“What brings you here?” she asked casually.
“I heard you went to Mo Corporation! Trying to cooperate with them?”
Gone was the once-elegant young master; Hua Yan was now a disheveled wreck, stubble-covered and furious.
“And what if I did?” Hua Miaomiao’s voice grew cold.
Her tone immediately dulled Hua Yan’s anger, leaving behind only unease and fear.
“I… I’m just worried you’ve forgotten our grudge against the Mo family…” he mumbled.
“Our grudge? No, that’s your grudge,” Hua Miaomiao said with a chilling smile.
“What’s wrong, Hua Yan? Losing one leg to Lin Changsheng wasn’t enough for you? Want to lose the other too?”
Hearing Lin Changsheng’s name, Hua Yan’s teeth gnashed in rage—but he could do nothing about it.
Without proof of Lin Changsheng’s involvement, he had no grounds for revenge.
Were it not for her, he wouldn’t have been forced out of power, and Hua Miaomiao wouldn’t have risen to lead Huayang.
“What are you planning to do, Second Sister?” he asked cautiously.
“Mind your own business and stay a good little third young master,” Hua Miaomiao said icily.
Of course, Hua Miaomiao hadn’t forgotten what Lin Changsheng had done to Huayang.
But seeing her today, she couldn’t help but notice— Lin Changsheng seemed… very different from what the rumors suggested.
Was it just her imagination?
Compared to the ruthless image she had built up in her mind— Lin Changsheng today seemed far less terrifying.
