After Becoming a Scummy Alpha, the Movie Queen Just Wants to Pamper Her Wife (LILY, ABO) - Chapter 10
“You wanted to kiss me, so why are you asking if I want to kiss you again?”
Meng Chuwu looked into Xi Xiaoyan’s eyes, which were filled with nothing but love. That kind of open, unreserved affection made her even more beautiful.
Why didn’t I meet someone like this in the last world? Someone who loved me without holding anything back?
Just like that scumbag Alpha, I could have relied on my looks for a living and for love. Why did I work myself to death?
Back then, I was so cautious, so afraid to trust. I always thought the people chasing me only saw me as a celebrity.
Now, she couldn’t help but feel a little envious of that Alpha’s carefree lifestyle.
Of course, being a player or a flirt wasn’t acceptable, but still, when life is good, we should enjoy it to the fullest.
“Yes, I want to kiss you, Sister Wu.” Xi Xiaoyan answered honestly. Her eyes were clear as water, and she didn’t hide her longing at all. “What about you, Sister Wu?”
“It’s not really appropriate to be kissing like this in broad daylight,” Meng Chuwu mumbled as she lowered her head and started buttoning her clothes.
“I’ll help you.”
Xi Xiaoyan reached over. Meng Chuwu didn’t move away fast enough, and their hands bumped into each other. It wasn’t a hard bump, but Meng Chuwu felt like something inside her had been gently knocked loose, leaving an odd emptiness in her chest.
“I can do it myself,” she said, but her voice sounded weak, almost like she actually wanted the help.
“Let me help you. I like helping you,” Xi Xiaoyan said softly as she lowered her head and carefully began fastening the buttons.
“Will it stain my clothes? This outfit is really expensive.”
Xi Xiaoyan giggled and pulled her head back slightly.
“What are you laughing at?” Meng Chuwu asked.
“Your breath hit my neck when you spoke. It tickled.”
Meng Chuwu glanced at her slender, fair neck nestled in her long hair. So soft and flawless. How could this girl be beautiful everywhere you looked?
“What about this?” Meng Chuwu suddenly poked Xi Xiaoyan on her left side.
“Ahh!” Xi Xiaoyan squealed, covering her side with her elbow.
Meng Chuwu wanted to tease her again, but Xi Xiaoyan had already darted to the other side of the room.
“You’re standing so far away now. How am I supposed to kiss you?”
“I’m not falling for your tricks!”
“What tricks?”
“You’re just trying to get me to come over so you can grab me.”
“Aren’t you the one who said you wanted me to kiss you?” Meng Chuwu couldn’t help laughing. Teasing her was so much fun. In her past life, it was always work, meetings, and public events. She never had warm, playful moments like this.
“If you really wanted to kiss me, Sister Wu, wouldn’t you come over here yourself?” Xi Xiaoyan stuck out her tongue mischievously.
She’s picking up all the bad habits, Meng Chuwu thought. That Alpha definitely ruined her.
“Sister Wu, now you can teach me how to French kiss.”
Meng Chuwu paused. Xi Xiaoyan was definitely much bolder than she was.
If I refuse, will she realize I’m not the real Alpha?
Of course, she knew what a French kiss was. The Alpha knew too, only because she learned it from reading a romance novel.
According to the Alpha’s memory, there was a time she planned to use the excuse of “teaching” a French kiss to get close to Xi Xiaoyan. But before anything started, Xi’s reaction was intense. Just smelling her scent triggered a second differentiation, and the plan completely fell apart. Things nearly got out of hand.
After Xi Xiaoyan recovered from the chaos of her second differentiation, one of her police officer friends gave the Alpha a serious scolding.
“What’s wrong? Aren’t you going to keep your promise?” Xi Xiaoyan started pressing again.
“It’s not that I’m breaking my word. I’m just afraid you’ll have a third differentiation. That would be a disaster.”
“Sister Wu, that’s nonsense. Sure, second differentiation is real, but I’ve never heard of anyone going through a third one.” Xi Xiaoyan heard the rejection, but she still wanted that kiss.
“That might be true for others, but with you, who knows,” Meng Chuwu said with a serious face. “I read a story once. A girl tried a French kiss and ended up having a third differentiation. She became…”
“What? What did she become?” Xi Xiaoyan knew she was making it up, but she couldn’t help being curious.
“She turned into a fairy and flew away.”
“You’re such a liar!” Xi Xiaoyan laughed and grabbed a nearby stuffed animal, throwing it at her.
Meng Chuwu didn’t dodge. The plush toy landed right in her arms. She hugged it and said, “I couldn’t bear to see you fly away.”
So cheesy. Way too cheesy.
Xi Xiaoyan burst into laughter, and her smile was so sweet.
Meng Chuwu hadn’t expected that this girl would actually fall for something so corny.
Looking at her now, she must have already let go of what happened with Liao Xuehui earlier that morning.
“By your logic, I didn’t turn into a fairy last night either.”
“That wasn’t a real French kiss,” Meng Chuwu replied, trying to sound experienced. She had no actual experience, but she knew what a French kiss was supposed to be like. As an actress, bluffing someone like Xi Xiaoyan was easy.
“You’re such a tease. Now I’m disappointed,” Xi Xiaoyan pouted.
Well, pouting won’t help. Meng Chuwu decided they couldn’t stay in bed forever.
“Aunt Chao said you didn’t eat much lunch. I didn’t either. I’m getting hungry now. Want to eat something?”
“Nope.”
So uncooperative.
Meng Chuwu smiled helplessly. “We’ll save the French kiss for later. I’ll teach you when the time is right.”
Xi Xiaoyan scoffed quietly. Meng Chuwu had made many promises about the future, but who could say which ones would come true? What you can hold onto now is what really matters.
“I’m going to get something to eat first,” Meng Chuwu said as she got out of bed.
In truth, she just wanted to shift their attention elsewhere. If they kept sitting together like this, even without releasing pheromones, it was only a matter of time before their emotions crossed the line.
“Ugh” Xi Xiaoyan let out a long sigh. “You said three days? This barely even lasted half a day.”
It felt like she was being accused of underperforming. Meng Chuwu’s face instantly grew warm.
“You really believe that kind of talk, little girl?”
“Of course I do. I believe every single word Sister Wu says.”
Her eyes were clear and sincere, without the slightest trace of sarcasm or playfulness. It was complete and absolute trust.
Meng Chuwu suddenly felt moved. The purity in Xi Xiaoyan’s feelings was rare and precious.
“How about we split it up instead?” Meng Chuwu looked down at Xi Xiaoyan, who was still sitting on the bed. For a brief moment, she almost gave in. The innocence in Xi Xiaoyan’s gaze stirred something deep within her, something possessive, something that made her want to lean down and kiss her.
But Xi Xiaoyan shook her head. “If we split it up, then it doesn’t count as the first three days anymore.”
She was serious about it.
And she was right.
Meng Chuwu didn’t know if refusing something so small would slowly wear away Xi Xiaoyan’s trust in her and eventually plant seeds of doubt.
“Today, I’m not in the right state of mind,” she said firmly. As someone who knew the full picture, she didn’t want to take advantage of Xi Xiaoyan, nor did she want to give herself away so recklessly.
She admitted it—Xi Xiaoyan was beautiful and alluring. But if she herself was just a passing figure in this girl’s life, it might be better not to start at all. Xi Xiaoyan deserved better.
“Oh.”
Meng Chuwu couldn’t tell if that single word was filled with belief or disappointment.
“Sister Wu, do the things you say actually mean something?”
She wasn’t sure if Xi Xiaoyan was referring to a specific promise or all the sweet words that scumbag Alpha had ever said to her.
“Of course they do. Don’t overthink things.” Meng Chuwu could see it clearly. Even though Xi Xiaoyan trusted that Alpha, deep down, she still didn’t feel secure.
After all, the Alpha’s history was well known. Xi Xiaoyan couldn’t possibly be unaware. The Alpha was a public figure, the daughter of a movie queen. Her romantic past was something both reporters and fans loved digging into.
Not to mention, the Alpha had never tried to hide it. She had sworn to Xi Xiaoyan with full confidence, saying things like, “I’ve been searching all this time. But now, I’ve found the answer. Yanyan, you’re my final harbor. I’ll never dock anywhere else again.”
That kind of romantic line, the Alpha had said more than once.
To be fair, Meng Chuwu believed that in the story, after the Alpha met Xi Xiaoyan—at least up to the point when Xi became pregnant—she had actually been a decent lover. During that time, she truly only had eyes for Xi Xiaoyan.
Right now, Meng Chuwu was standing right in the middle of that exact timeframe.
To Xi Xiaoyan, the Alpha appeared perfect. Any flaws others mentioned were just gossip from entertainment reporters or haters.
“I’m not overthinking,” Xi Xiaoyan said. “After you went to the hospital this morning, I saw a lot of people online discussing something about us.”
She slid to the edge of the bed, letting her bare legs hang down. Her smooth, pale feet touched the carpet.
“We just got married. Of course people are going to talk,” Meng Chuwu said, trying to downplay it. But from the faint sadness in Xi Xiaoyan’s eyes, she could already guess it wasn’t good news. Given the Alpha’s complicated dating history, there was bound to be gossip.
“One entertainment site turned our marriage into a betting pool. They’re placing bets on how long it will last.”
After she said that, Xi Xiaoyan looked up at Meng Chuwu.
Her gaze was still clear, and she hid her unease and frustration well.
But Meng Chuwu was observant. She could see through that pure and innocent face. Beneath the surface, there was a quiet, gnawing insecurity.
“Don’t pay attention to that kind of nonsense.”
“Sister Wu, how long do you think our marriage will last?”
What a dangerous question.
Only now did Meng Chuwu truly feel the pressure. On the outside, she stayed calm, but inside, she was taking sharp breaths.
This question carried so much weight and risk. For the first time, she realized that Xi Xiaoyan was not some naïve little girl.
