After Becoming a Scummy Alpha, the Movie Queen Just Wants to Pamper Her Wife (LILY, ABO) - Chapter 4
Back in the bedroom, the scent of pheromones had already faded, barely noticeable in the air.
Meng Chuwu walked over to the bed and stopped beside it. She stared thoughtfully at Xi Xiaoyan, who was sleeping on her side with both hands tucked under her soft, round cheeks. Her sleeping posture was calm, well-behaved, and peaceful.
After a moment, Meng Chuwu looked away and stepped into the bathroom. When she saw the face in the mirror that looked exactly like hers, she wasn’t surprised at all. After all, in most transmigration stories, names, appearances, and ages usually remained the same. She had read enough of these novels to be familiar with the usual tropes.
As she looked at the face in the mirror again and again, she couldn’t help but sigh.
“This face is truly captivating.”
Meng Chuwu had never paid much attention to her appearance. She often forgot that she was, in fact, a stunning beauty. Occasionally, when she looked closely at herself, she would be caught off guard by her own attractiveness.
It was only now that she realized how different she was from the original Alpha.
The once straight, black hair had turned into loose, wavy curls full of charm.
She had never liked dyed hair, and this fiery red color was far too flashy for her taste.
Compared to that, she preferred a bare face. It was clear that the original Alpha had loved heavy makeup.
She casually tied up her hair and bent over the sink to wash her face. As she cupped water in her hands, she decided to dye her hair back to black as soon as possible.
After washing her face, she gently patted on a bit of loofah water and considered her skincare routine done.
To be fair, the original Alpha had good taste. Her wardrobe was stylish, and all her makeup products were top-tier. Meng Chuwu had never been willing to spend that much money on such things.
After tidying up, she hesitated for a moment but ultimately returned to Xi Xiaoyan’s side.
Although a part of her resisted getting too close, she was deeply curious. From now on, in this world, Xi Xiaoyan would be her legal partner and her new family. Would Xi Xiaoyan be able to tell that she was no longer the same person?
The original Alpha didn’t know who her biological father was. Her mother, Meng Zhixing, had been a very famous actress and had won multiple Best Actress awards.
But when the Alpha turned eighteen, her mother left for the Northern Kingdom to follow a famous poet. It had been nearly eight years since they had last seen each other. Their contact since then had been minimal, almost nonexistent.
When it came to family, Meng Chuwu thought the original Alpha had a slightly better situation. At least her mother was still alive.
In her previous world, Meng Chuwu’s parents had died in an accident when she was in elementary school.
At first, she was raised by her grandmother. After her grandmother passed away, she was taken in by her uncle and aunt. Between the ages of ten and twenty, life had been incredibly hard. After debuting and finally finding a way to earn money, she had never dared to slow down. She spent cautiously, always afraid that the poverty she once knew would come back without warning.
All the years of hard work and everything she had earned
Life truly was full of cruel irony.
Lying in bed, Meng Chuwu couldn’t help but reflect.
The girl beside her was still sound asleep. Her soft breathing was gentle and close to her ear. As Meng Chuwu listened to it, her thoughts wandered. The faint, fresh scent coming from Xi Xiaoyan reminded her of spring and quietly soothed her tired and restless heart. For someone who had suffered from chronic insomnia, drowsiness was a rare gift.
Lying there, surrounded by Xi Xiaoyan’s sweet and subtle fragrance, Meng Chuwu felt as if she were resting in a field of grass. It was like unknown flowers were blooming nearby, and a warm breeze was blowing through, carrying a comforting scent that made her feel completely at ease.
She hadn’t relaxed like this in years.
“Mmm…” Xi Xiaoyan murmured in her sleep.
Meng Chuwu thought she was waking up and instinctively froze. Her groggy mind became slightly clearer.
She slowly turned her head to the right and saw that Xi Xiaoyan’s long eyelashes were still closed. Though not fully awake, her body seemed to sense Meng Chuwu’s presence. She instinctively leaned closer until she was completely snuggled against her. Her head even nuzzled into Meng Chuwu’s arm.
That warmth was unfamiliar.
That soft, warm closeness between two people of the same kind was something Meng Chuwu had never experienced before. Yet the tingling sensation it brought made her feel oddly drawn in. It was as if something invisible had reached into her chest and gently stirred her heart, making her feel tense and uncertain.
Even though she felt nervous, Meng Chuwu strangely hoped Xi Xiaoyan would move even closer. This contradiction only made her muscles tighten even more.
A small voice of reason deep within her told her to pull away, but Xi Xiaoyan’s warmth seemed to awaken something greedy inside her. In the end, she didn’t move and didn’t push Xi Xiaoyan away either.
Wrapped in Xi Xiaoyan’s scent, Meng Chuwu slowly released a small amount of pheromones.
She knew that a moderate amount of Alpha pheromones could calm an Omega during vulnerable periods. The same was true in reverse.
She leaned in and breathed in Xi Xiaoyan’s lovely scent, almost obsessively. She couldn’t stop. It was like an addiction.
The scent of spring was simply irresistible.
“Uhh…” Xi Xiaoyan murmured again. This time, it seemed she wasn’t satisfied with just cuddling. She continued to move closer, gently rubbing against Meng Chuwu without any pattern. Her left hand naturally wrapped around her as well.
That gentle pressure wasn’t something Meng Chuwu rejected. Instead, it gave her a strange sense of security.
Was she really going to accept the fact that she now had a partner so easily?
Half-asleep, she still questioned herself. Was it truly right to enjoy all of this without hesitation?
Maybe it was better to sleep first and figure it out after morning came. She was so tired. It had been two or three years since she had felt this kind of exhaustion. Even though she still wanted to enjoy the warmth and scent coming from Xi Xiaoyan, her eyelids had grown so heavy that she could no longer keep them open.
The next morning, when Meng Chuwu woke up, the sun was already high in the sky.
Warm spring sunlight poured into the bedroom. She couldn’t remember the last time she had slept so well. Her entire body felt refreshed, and her energy seemed fully restored for the first time in ages.
Then she remembered Xi Xiaoyan. She turned her head quickly, only to find that the space beside her was already empty.
Of course, it was late. She grabbed her phone and saw that it was already close to ten o’clock.
She threw off the covers in a rush, only to be shocked by what she saw underneath.
What frightened her more than being undressed was not knowing when her silk pajamas had been removed, and by whom. The answer was obvious. Even worse, that playful Xi Xiaoyan had drawn on her. And through it all, she hadn’t felt a thing. She was mortified.
Out of the corner of her eye, she saw the pajamas pressed under the blanket. She quickly grabbed them and threw them back on.
The memories of the original Alpha reminded her that Aunt Chao, the housekeeper who cared for her like a mother, usually came to wake her up for breakfast. That woman never allowed her to sleep in.
So what was going on today? This unusual situation made her feel uneasy.
She stepped into the bathroom, took a shower, got dressed, and was just removing her shower cap when Chao Zhi arrived right on time.
“Miss Wu, Miss Wu—” Her voice carried an unmistakable sense of urgency.
Meng Chuwu opened the bathroom door. As expected, Housekeeper Chao Zhi’s face was full of worry.
Normally, Chao Zhi would never enter her room without permission. Meng Chuwu figured something serious must have happened.
“What is it?”
“You’d better come downstairs and see for yourself. It’s getting out of control.”
“What?”
“A young Omega girl suddenly showed up out of nowhere. She claims she’s pregnant with your child and insists on moving into the house. She’s yelling and throwing a tantrum, acting outrageously. Miss Xi is so angry her face changed color, but she’s holding it in. She said she’d wait for you to come down and explain everything first. But it seems like the girl is targeting Miss Xi on purpose. She spilled everything without any hesitation.”
Chao Zhi spoke quickly, words tumbling out of her mouth.
Meng Chuwu’s heart skipped a beat. This really was a disaster.
If that girl was truly pregnant with the original Alpha’s child, Xi Xiaoyan might very well send her straight to the crematorium without waiting for a word of explanation.
A situation this extreme wasn’t part of the original novel at all. Before even going downstairs, Meng Chuwu began to doubt whether someone like her, who had been chosen by the transmigration bureau, had any real chance of surviving.
“What’s the girl’s name?” Meng Chuwu asked as she smoothed out her long hair.
Chao Zhi gave her a look of disappointment that clearly said, “How should I know your romantic messes?”
“Let’s go down first and talk later.”
Meng Chuwu stepped out of the bathroom, passed by Chao Zhi, and walked toward the door.
Chao Zhi followed her, full of concern. She had thought that after finally winning over Xi Xiaoyan, the most beautiful Omega in Lucheng, and marrying her, things would settle down for at least six months or a year. Who would have expected something like this to happen on the very next day?
Looking back, she shouldn’t have agreed to let Meng Chuwu sleep in just because Xi Xiaoyan suggested it. If she had woken her earlier, maybe the whole thing could have been stopped before it started.
Meng Chuwu had no clue what was going on. Her heart was racing, overwhelmed by shock and panic. Her life might very well be on the line, and she couldn’t afford to waste even a second. She planned to go downstairs and deal with it on the fly. But just as she turned into the hallway, she heard the commotion downstairs.
“A child deserves a home. Whether Miss Xi agrees or not, I’ve made up my mind. I’m moving in today. Sister Meng will definitely support me, and none of you can stop me. I want to see her right now.”
At that moment, someone said, “Miss Wu is coming down.”
The living room suddenly fell silent.
As Meng Chuwu descended the stairs, she met the gaze of seven or eight people. She didn’t panic in the slightest. With eight years of experience in the entertainment industry, she had long mastered the skill of staying composed no matter what chaos erupted around her.
Even from twenty or thirty meters away, she had already recognized the shouting Omega. It was Liao Xuehui.
She quickly searched her memory for any relevant information about her.
Everyone in the room held their breath and watched Meng Chuwu, as if waiting for her to hand down a verdict.
Behind her, Chao Zhi glanced at the girl. At last, she quieted down. Just moments ago, she had been so aggressive, her words nearly sounded like she was trying to overthrow someone. If she had announced her pregnancy yesterday during the wedding, the consequences would have been unthinkable.
When Meng Chuwu was about three or four meters away from the group, she paused. She first glanced at Xi Xiaoyan, who was wearing a pink dress under a black shawl. Her face showed signs of displeasure, and her eyes were filled with obvious disappointment. Still, she kept her composure. From her expression, it was clear she was waiting for Meng Chuwu to explain herself.
Liao Xuehui, on the other hand, stood in the center of attention. She had come in like a storm, shouting directly at Xi Xiaoyan, clearly assuming Meng Chuwu would take her side. She seemed completely confident in her position.
“What is all this noise? Can’t we talk things out properly?”
The natural presence of a high-rank Alpha radiated from Meng Chuwu, instantly casting an invisible pressure over everyone in the room.
“Sister Meng, I—” Liao Xuehui, who had been loud and arrogant just moments ago, suddenly turned into a shy and delicate girl the moment Meng Chuwu appeared.
“Who said you could speak first?” Meng Chuwu turned to Xi Xiaoyan. It was clear from her look who had the right to speak before anyone else.
