After Becoming an Alpha, I Marked My Nemesis - Chapter 33
Just agree for now, then let Song Luoxue and Chu Ruobing slowly develop their relationship. That would be perfect!
Zhou Qian couldn’t help but think she was a genius.
“Great! Luo Xue, your contact information hasn’t changed all these years, right? If you’re still using that number, I’ll reach out to you using my old classmate account and let you know when we’re planning a reunion.”
Song Luoxue maintained a friendly smile as best she could. “Sure, my personal account is still the same—it hasn’t changed at all. Just send me a message whenever you’re ready.”
Hearing Song Luoxue’s agreement, Chu Ruobing’s face bloomed into a radiant smile. He nodded repeatedly. “Wonderful! Then we’ll see each other soon.”
Song Luoxue concealed her displeasure. “Goodbye.”
As Chu Ruobing prepared to leave, Song Luoxue suddenly seemed to remember something and quickly called out, “Please wait a moment.”
Seeing Song Luoxue’s reaction, Zhou Qian assumed she had thought of something important. Is she planning to start building a connection with Chu Ruobing right away?
Zhou Qian was filled with anticipation, but Song Luoxue suddenly yanked off the jacket Zhou Qian had draped over her shoulders. Song Luoxue walked over to Chu Ruobing and handed him the jacket. “Thank you for lending my girlfriend your jacket, but I brought my own. I’ll handle this.”
Chu Ruobing looked surprised. He always sensed a hint of disdain in Song Luoxue’s eyes. Despite this, he accepted his jacket and said, “It’s nothing. See you later.”
Song Luoxue smiled. “Yeah, see you later.”
The moment Chu Ruobing turned to leave, Song Luoxue’s expression shifted. Once he was out of sight, she gripped Zhou Qian’s wrist tightly, her voice sharp with anger. “Why do you always cause me so much trouble?”
Zhou Qian was stunned. She couldn’t understand what had angered Song Luoxue. Hadn’t she just met her White Moonlight? After years of separation, shouldn’t she be overjoyed to reunite with the person she had longed for?
Zhou Qian was momentarily speechless. Song Luoxue’s jealousy and nitpicking had stemmed entirely from Zhou Qian’s encounter with Li Pianpian and their brief conversation. If only Song Luoxue had met Chu Ruobing first, Zhou Qian could have feigned anger and confronted her. But fate had dictated that Zhou Qian be the first to encounter Chu Ruobing.
Seeing Zhou Qian’s panicked expression, Song Luoxue suppressed her anger and draped her coat over Zhou Qian’s shoulders. “Alright, don’t cause any more trouble. Let’s go home.”
As Song Luoxue tried to pull Zhou Qian out of the bar, she realized she couldn’t budge her. Zhou Qian’s dejected expression gradually shifted to anger and confusion. She looked up at Song Luoxue and asked, “So what?”
Even though her voice was soft, Song Luoxue could sense the displeasure in Zhou Qian’s tone. She simply continued, “So what?”
“So why are you so angry? What did I do wrong? Why are you treating me like this? I’ve told you repeatedly that I have nothing to do with anyone else. What do I have to say or do to make you believe me?!”
Zhou Qian finally unleashed all the words she had been suppressing for so long. Her voice was so loud that it cut through the music, drawing the attention of the club-goers still lost in their dancing. Their gazes turned toward the two strangely dressed women.
Zhou Qian threw her jacket at Song Luoxue and stormed out of the bar.
Song Luoxue stood frozen in place, stunned.
She had never imagined that her usually docile little cat would ever bite, and certainly not so suddenly. For reasons she couldn’t explain, Song Luoxue slowly picked up the jacket Zhou Qian had thrown to the ground. She could feel the eyes of the crowd on them, their whispers inevitable.
After retrieving the jacket, Song Luoxue hurried out of the bar as well.
Zhou Qian hailed a taxi home, her head still buzzing. She had no idea what she had done, only that she had needed to vent her anger.
Back home, Zhou Qian sat blankly on the sofa for a long while. Then, she ran her fingers through her hair, her thoughts spiraling: How could I have snapped at Song Luoxue? Didn’t I promise myself I’d never lose my temper with her, no matter how unreasonable she was?
Zhou Qian sat on the sofa, her gaze sweeping over every object in the room—all gifts from Song Luoxue. She couldn’t bring herself to lash out at Song Luoxue for fear of losing these things. Yet suppressing her true feelings felt worse than death.
Suddenly, an idea struck her. She resolved to confront Song Luoxue tomorrow and demand clarity.
How could this happen?
How could things have turned out this way?
Song Luoxue had never imagined that her money-obsessed “kitten” would dare to raise her voice, especially in public. Though no one at the bar recognized them, Song Luoxue still felt a pang of humiliation.
She couldn’t fathom Zhou Qian’s motives.
On the contrary… Zhou Qian’s anger reminded her so much of that person. She relished the sharp-edged tension, but she loathed being embarrassed by others.
Driving home in her own car, Song Luoxue parked in her garage and rolled down the window. Still puzzling over Zhou Qian’s behavior, she lit a cigarette and flicked the ash into the car’s ashtray.
Ever since hearing Zhou Qian say that smoking was harmful to her health, Song Luoxue had rarely smoked. But today, she felt unbearably restless. She didn’t understand what was wrong, nor why she cared so much about Zhou Qian’s opinion.
Perhaps she had liked Zhou Qian for a long time. That might explain why she felt a certain attraction to the woman with the same name, same face. After all, spending so much time together would naturally lead to developing a special connection.
Despite their time together, Song Luoxue still saw the woman as a substitute for Zhou Qian. There could only be one Zhou Qian, and she refused to let this imposter grow any closer to resembling the real Zhou Qian.
After finishing the last cigarette in her pack, Song Luoxue opened the car door and went inside.
Zhou Qian had planned to discuss the matter with Song Luoxue the next day, but when she called Mo Zhen, she learned that Song Luoxue was away on business and wouldn’t be home for the rest of the week.
Zhou Qian didn’t know what kind of business Song Luoxue was involved in. It seemed like she was always busy with deals, a true workaholic. Feeling helpless, Zhou Qian decided to send Song Luoxue a message first.
As the one who had lost her temper the previous day, she was reluctant to take the initiative and text Song Luoxue.
Cunning Kitten: Are you there?
Song Luoxue was in a business meeting with a renowned domestic wedding dress designer when her phone buzzed. Though slightly flustered, she maintained her composure and said, “I apologize. I must have forgotten to silence my phone earlier. Someone’s messaging me now—it might be important.”
The designer immediately responded, “Of course. Why don’t you reply first? We can continue our discussion later.”
Song Luoxue shook her head. Glancing at her phone’s notification bar, she saw the message was from Zhou Qian. She then pressed and held the power button to turn off her phone.
Turning back to the designer, she said, “It’s nothing urgent. Let’s focus on the Angle design brand.”
The designer smiled and replied, “Very well.”
Meanwhile, Zhou Qian was puzzled. Song Luoxue usually replied to her messages instantly. What was going on?
Zhou Qian typed another line: I have something very important to tell you…
But as soon as she finished typing, she deleted the entire message.
Perhaps Song Luoxue really did have something important to attend to. It was best not to disturb her right now.
Just as Zhou Qian was about to leave, Ning Xiao called. Seeing the incoming call, Zhou Qian answered immediately, “Hello, Ning Xiao, what’s up?”
Hearing Zhou Qian’s voice, Ning Xiao sounded incredibly excited. “Sister Qianqian, have you checked today’s Cloud TV comprehensive data platform? Phoenix Perches on the Wutong Tree, the drama you starred in, has topped the satellite channel ratings for two consecutive weeks! You’re completely famous now, do you realize that?”
Zhou Qian let out a sigh. “Oh… so that’s what this is about.”
“What do you mean, ‘that’s what this is about’? You’ve become a major star overnight thanks to this one drama! And it’s all thanks to Best Actress Song Yinghou’s resources. You absolutely have to treat her to dinner this week!”
Zhou Qian paused awkwardly. I just had a fight with her last night. Besides, Song Luoxue doesn’t need my treat.
Zhou Qian said with a hint of disappointment, “I don’t think I can do that. Song Luoxue has been out all week negotiating business deals. Even I haven’t been able to see her.”
Ning Xiao also sounded disappointed. “Oh, I see. But speaking of which, isn’t Song Yinghou supposed to be best at acting? How did she suddenly become so adept at business? She seems incredibly busy these days, and her business ventures seem to be thriving.”
It wasn’t just Ning Xiao who found this suspicious; even Zhou Qian found it strange. What was even stranger was that Song Luoxue would mutter nonsensical things in her sleep, things that sounded oddly familiar to Zhou Qian.
“Let’s not dwell on that for now. Have any of the directors I emailed replied yet?”
Ning Xiao paused, surprised by the question.
Although Zhou Qian had risen to fame with a single hit drama, her resources hadn’t improved as quickly. Since no one was offering her roles, she had to promote herself—sending emails to directors of films and TV series with roles that suited her image.
