Chapter 54: A Woman Cannot Say She Cannot Do It
“Okay, I listened to you completely, is that alright now?” Zhou Yining asked softly.
Jiang Xianzhi nodded satisfactorily, buried her head in Zhou Yining’s arms, sniffed, and reluctantly got up from Zhou Yining’s embrace.
They changed their nightgowns into casual clothes and went downstairs together.
Downstairs, Liang Jing and Jiang Yueyi were present. Seeing them awake, Liang Jing smiled and said, “Sit down quickly and wait for dinner. Xiao Zhou, these few days you worked hard accompanying Zhizhi.”
“Auntie, it was not hard,” Zhou Yining replied politely with a smile to Liang Jing.
Dinner took a while to prepare. Jiang Xianzhi, not minding others, leaned softly on Zhou Yining’s shoulder like she had no bones, playing with her phone.
Zhou Yining, with a good temper, held Jiang Xianzhi’s lower back to prevent her from falling, watching her poke at the phone with curved eyebrows.
Jiang Yueyi glanced twice and looked away. She felt the two people opposite were too clingy, always giving her the feeling of a couple in the honeymoon phase.
Zhou Yining and Jiang Xianzhi did not feel anything unusual. Zhou Yining leaned closer and asked, “Is this fun?”
“It’s okay, relaxes the mood, a stress-relief game,” Jiang Xianzhi said, rubbing against Zhou Yining’s shoulder coyly.
Zhou Yining blinked her eyes, reached to poke the small bubbles on the screen, but Jiang Xianzhi dodged, saying, “No, pressing there kills my little character.”
“Why not?” Zhou Yining deliberately held Jiang Xianzhi’s lower back with one hand, reached for the phone screen with the other, making Jiang Xianzhi’s eyebrows curve with amusement.
Liang Jing and Jiang Yueyi, who had just changed clothes upstairs and came down, exchanged a glance and looked away. The more they saw this daughter and her friend, the more something seemed off.
Zhou Yining and Jiang Xianzhi played for a while, and dinner was ready.
They sat obediently and ate dinner. Liang Jing looked at Jiang Xianzhi, smiled, and asked, “Did you play with Xiao Zhou all day today? You just started vacation, don’t stress too much, play a few days first.”
Jiang Xianzhi pouted, “Not at all, Zhou Zhou grabbed me to study as soon as she came this morning. I did two math test papers all morning. In the afternoon, I acted coy, and she let me rest.”
Liang Jing looked at her daughter, smiled, and said, “I think it’s good, someone manages you. But you two shouldn’t study too hard, balance work and rest.”
“Exactly, exactly,” Jiang Xianzhi nodded in agreement enthusiastically.
Zhou Yining blinked at her, smiled, and said, “Later, I will explain those two test papers to you, otherwise you’ll forget by tomorrow.”
“Got it,” Jiang Xianzhi wanted to cry but obediently complied.
Liang Jing saw her daughter’s expression and found her daughter adorable.
After dinner, Zhou Yining pulled Jiang Xianzhi upstairs. Jiang Xianzhi leaned against Zhou Yining helplessly, acting coy, but Zhou Yining still brought her to the study.
“Alright, you slept all afternoon, ate dinner, now we should go over the problems.”
“Okay,” Jiang Xianzhi sat there pitifully.
Zhou Yining took out a few sheets of scratch paper, then graded the test papers Jiang Xianzhi did in the morning. The difficulty of these two papers was much lower than the final exam, at a normal level.
After grading, Zhou Yining roughly calculated the scores. Jiang Xianzhi’s math had improved significantly, with both papers scoring around one hundred and a few points.
She smiled at Jiang Xianzhi, praised, and said, “Very good, both papers scored over one hundred. But you still didn’t master some knowledge points in the front. I’ll go through the wrong questions to review knowledge points with you.”
Zhou Yining spoke, took the scratch paper, and wrote while explaining.
Jiang Xianzhi sat beside her, listened obediently, knew Zhou Yining made her study for her own good, and they planned to go to Beijing for university together, so her grades had to improve.
Thinking this, Jiang Xianzhi listened more attentively.
Soon, the scratch paper filled with formulas piled up sheet by sheet, and Jiang Xianzhi became more and more engaged.
Liang Jing brought two cups of milk, knocked, and entered, saw her daughter and Zhou Yining still studying. She smiled at them and said, “Drink the milk later, you two don’t study too hard, sleep early.”
“Hmm, thank you, Auntie. We’ll sleep after finishing these two papers,” Zhou Yining replied.
“Okay, I won’t disturb you two then,” Liang Jing said, looked at her daughter, and left the study.
Jiang Xianzhi brought the milk over, placed one cup in front of Zhou Yining, and said, “Drink some milk first, then continue.”
Jiang Xianzhi grabbed Zhou Yining’s wrist, shook it, and drank a few sips of milk with the other hand.
Zhou Yining looked down at the hand grabbing her wrist, asked softly, “What’s wrong? Tired?”
Jiang Xianzhi shook her head, “Just want to touch you.”
Looking at the coy little fox, Zhou Yining’s eyebrows curved, “After finishing the papers, you can touch me however you want, satisfied now?”
“Hmm,” the young lady continued drinking her milk contentedly.
Zhou Yining quickly finished her milk, then continued being her relentless problem-explaining machine.
They went from seven-thirty to almost eleven. Jiang Xianzhi felt numb from studying. Zhou Yining finally took pity and let her go. Jiang Xianzhi slumped listlessly on the desk.
Zhou Yining looked at the wilted little fox, shook her head with a smile, and said, “What’s wrong? So listless? Come on, let’s go bathe and sleep.”
“Battery drained, can’t move,” Jiang Xianzhi lay on the desk, acting coy with Zhou Yining.
Zhou Yining bent down, gently pinched Jiang Xianzhi’s cheek, coaxed softly, “Be good, after a bath, in bed, I’ll hold you to rest well, okay?”
Jiang Xianzhi shook her head, “No, no strength to walk back.”
Zhou Yining saw the young lady wilted from her torment, bent down, and teased, “What then? Should I carry you back?”
Jiang Xianzhi’s ear tips turned red from Zhou Yining’s words, her face buried in her arms. But thinking about it, though shy, it seemed nice? After all, Zhou Yining surely hadn’t carried another girl like this.
Her ear tips red, she lay there silently. Zhou Yining raised an eyebrow. What did this little fox mean? Really waiting for a carry?
She leaned closer, asked gently, “Really want me to carry you? I’ll really do it then?”
Jiang Xianzhi, holding back her shyness, lifted her head, her gaze wavering, nodded at Zhou Yining after a moment.
Zhou Yining’s eyebrows curved, fine, since she made the young lady like this, she’d carry her. It was her little fox anyway.
“Put your arms around my neck, or I can’t use strength,” Zhou Yining bent down, signaled Jiang Xianzhi to hook her neck.
Jiang Xianzhi felt shy but didn’t want to miss this chance. She avoided Zhou Yining’s gaze, held back her shyness, and hooked her arms up.
Zhou Yining bent, one hand on Jiang Xianzhi’s lower back, the other under her knees, lifted her horizontally.
Good thing she was strong, or she might not have managed.
Zhou Yining carried Jiang Xianzhi to the door, said softly, “Zhizhi, open the door for me, no hands free.”
Jiang Xianzhi, face buried in Zhou Yining’s arms, heard her, squinted at the doorknob, opened the door, then quickly buried her face back in Zhou Yining’s arms.
Zhou Yining found her adorable, her lips’ smile unstoppable.
The study wasn’t far from Jiang Xianzhi’s bedroom. Zhou Yining carried her a short distance, reached it, but still had no hand to open the door. She said softly, “Zhizhi, open the door for me again.”
Jiang Xianzhi’s cheeks burned red, rubbed against Zhou Yining, hummed twice, then reached for the doorknob and opened the door.
Hearing the noise, Jiang Yueyi, thirsty, came out to get water, thought to check if her little sister was asleep, then saw her little sister carried out of the study by Zhou Yining, literally carried!
Shocked, Jiang Yueyi took her cup, returned to her room, and closed her door.
After calming down for a few seconds, she realized something was off. It was her little sister princess-carried by Zhou Yining—why was she shy? This was her house; why act like a thief?
The more Jiang Yueyi thought, the more it felt wrong. Her little sister and Zhou Yining being clingy was one thing, but a princess carry? Was this something ordinary friends did?
Jiang Yueyi thought of her own friends, shivered at the idea of being carried like that, goosebumps nearly falling off.
Jiang Yueyi opened her door again, the hallway empty. She went downstairs, got water, felt uneasy. Could her little sister be a lesbian?
Jiang Yueyi wanted to find Liang Jing, but it was eleven, her mom likely asleep. With no choice, Jiang Yueyi returned to her room, full of thoughts.
Her mind replayed her little sister princess-carried by Zhou Yining, like a barrage of comments floating by.
[They’re lesbians! They’re lesbians!]
[This is definitely a relationship!]
Unaware that Jiang Xianzhi’s sister saw her carrying Jiang Xianzhi, Zhou Yining carried her to the bed, gently set her down.
“Satisfied now?” She patted Jiang Xianzhi’s lower back lightly, signaled her to let go, as Jiang Xianzhi’s arms still hooked her neck.
Jiang Xianzhi held tighter, face buried in Zhou Yining’s arms, rubbed against her, whispered coyly, “No one else was in the hallway just now, right?”
Zhou Yining smiled, said softly, “No, what? Shy? You made me carry you.”
“So, I asked you to carry me, and you really did?” The little fox took advantage and teased.
“Hmm, I listen to you the most, don’t you know?” Zhou Yining teased with a smile.
“Liar, who made me go over papers all night?” Jiang Xianzhi hummed twice, her fox eyes staring at Zhou Yining.
Zhou Yining quickly coaxed, “Okay, my fault, I insisted on carrying you over, alright now?”
“Hmm!” Jiang Xianzhi’s tone rose, showing her good mood.
“Alright, go bathe, can you let go? My back can’t take it,” Zhou Yining said, still bent, as Jiang Xianzhi’s arms hooked her neck.
Jiang Xianzhi glanced at her, ear tips red, mumbled softly, “A woman cannot say she cannot do it.”
