After Becoming the Abused Heroine in a Campus Story - Chapter 57: Forum Posts
Chapter 57: Forum Posts
The teacher in charge of leading the team was already waiting there. After Zhou Yining reported her name, the teacher gave her a training badge to hang around her neck and took her to store her luggage first.
The space under the bus was large. Everyone’s suitcases were placed there, and Zhou Yining put her suitcase there too.
Many people had already arrived, but they were from different schools. Most stood in small groups of twos and threes.
Zhou Yuanfei’s car was still parked nearby, showing no intention of leaving. Zhou Yining was too lazy to deal with her.
She stood there playing with her phone. Soon, Zhang Ye got off the bus. He glanced at the people around, recognizing no one except Zhou Yining. He walked straight toward her.
“You came so early?” Zhang Ye asked.
Zhou Yining’s face showed confusion. “Are we close?”
“We’re classmates. What’s wrong with talking?” Zhang Ye was almost furious.
“I don’t want to talk to you.” Zhou Yining waved her hand, signaling him to leave quickly.
Zhang Ye, holding back his anger, went to report and store his luggage.
Among the three selected from One High, there was another boy with glasses from the same class. He had already gone to find Zhang Ye.
More students gathered at the gas station entrance. The teacher in charge began calling names, asking everyone to board the bus in order.
Zhou Yining got on the bus directly and sat in an inner seat. As the front seats filled up, a girl from another school, afraid of getting carsick, approached Zhou Yining. “Classmate, is this seat taken? Can I sit here?”
“No, you can sit.” Zhou Yining had no backpack, only holding her phone.
“Okay, thanks.” The girl sat down beside her.
About ten minutes later, the teacher began roll call. When Zhou Yining’s name was called, many people looked at her, including the girl beside her.
Zhou Yining frowned slightly. “Why are you all looking at me?”
The girl next to her seemed to want to say something but didn’t know how to start.
Zhou Yining asked, “What’s wrong? You can speak directly.”
The girl took out her phone, found a page, and handed it to Zhou Yining. “Classmate, a few days ago, a very popular post appeared on our school’s forum. It’s about you. See for yourself.”
Zhou Yining took the phone and looked. It was her love letter, previously exposed on the confession wall, now posted on another high school’s forum.
Zhou Yining frowned. She thought the person who put the original love letter on the confession wall had stopped, but after she got Lin Shaohui and others in trouble, someone couldn’t sit still.
She returned the phone to the girl and politely asked, “Classmate, is this post only on your school’s forum, or are other schools’ forums posting it too?”
“It seems several high schools’ forums posted it,” the girl answered honestly.
Two girls sitting behind Zhou Yining were eavesdropping. Hearing her ask about the post, one stood up and leaned over. “I’m from Second High. Our school’s forum had this post too. It appeared right after the holiday started. It’s been brewing for days. Plus, with your final exam results—top in many subjects—many people are paying attention to the post. It’s marked with a red ‘hot’ tag.”
Zhou Yining nodded. “Okay, thanks. I’m downloading the forum app now and starting to record.”
Zhou Yining had never used the forum before. She downloaded the app, went to Yinghua Private High School’s forum, and began recording. She captured all the post’s content and took screenshots of the poster’s information and ID.
Then Zhou Yining went to Second High’s forum to continue recording. The girl beside her quietly asked, “What are you doing?”
“Recording for evidence, collecting proof, so I can report it to the police later,” Zhou Yining said calmly, continuing to record.
The girl beside her admired Zhou Yining. Being slandered like this, with her love letter posted on every high school forum in Nanchuan City, the girl thought she would have curled up crying in fear.
“Need any help?” the girl asked.
“Check if all the high school forums in Nanchuan City have this post,” Zhou Yining said quickly.
“Okay.” The girl took her phone and started scrolling.
When the teacher called Zhang Ye’s name, the bus erupted again. Some boys in the back, who loved to make noise, even whistled.
“Wow, both main characters from the post are here. This will be fun.”
“Yeah, Zhou Yining may study well, but she’s totally a lovesick fool. That love letter was so sappy.”
“You are my unreachable moonlight. Ugh, so cringe.”
“This Zhou Yining definitely isn’t a good person. Maybe she’s one of those easy girls.”
“Zhang Ye’s pretty unlucky too. Total disaster, dragged down by Zhou Yining.”
Zhang Ye sat in the back, his face alternating between pale and flushed. Though Zhou Yining’s grades had improved and she looked better than before, being stared at by so many people made him unhappy.
Furious, Zhang Ye stood up abruptly and walked to Zhou Yining’s row. His chest heaved as he said, “Zhou Yining, what’s going on? Are you crazy? Posting on the school’s confession wall was bad enough, but why post on other schools’ forums?”
Zhou Yining glanced at him. “You’re the crazy one. I told you long ago the confession wall letter wasn’t from me. These forum posts aren’t mine either. If you’re smart, you’d investigate instead of raging at me.”
“Nonsense! How can I not be angry? You’re affecting me, you know?”
Zhou Yining shook her head. “I didn’t post it. Someone else is affecting you. Yelling at me won’t help, got it?”
Zhou Yining looked at Zhang Ye with disdain. His face turned red, feeling humiliated. “Nonsense! If you didn’t write that sappy stuff, would I be this embarrassed?”
“Writing is my freedom. Besides, I didn’t spread it. I don’t know what I did wrong. And frankly, my taste back then was pretty bad.”
“Zhou Yining, what do you mean?” Zhang Ye was furious.
“Can’t understand? Just take it literally,” Zhou Yining said openly.
“Enough, stop shouting on the bus. Go back to your seats,” the lead teacher said, stepping in to maintain order.
Zhang Ye, full of anger, returned to his seat.
Zhou Yining’s hands moved quickly. While arguing with Zhang Ye, she recorded posts from several forums. After finishing, she began thinking quietly.
She wondered about the motive of the person posting these.
This person seemed to know she was attending the training and posted in advance to embarrass her in front of other schools’ students. So, it was likely a classmate, probably someone she had clashed with.
Who could it be? The original Zhou Yining had conflicts with many people. Last time, Jiang Xianzhi helped her check surveillance, and Zhou Yining identified three suspects—two boys and one girl. She wasn’t sure which one posted.
Unable to decide, Zhou Yining sent all the evidence to Jiang Xianzhi.
Zhou Yining: [Zhizhi, I’m afraid I need to trouble you again about the love letter. Someone posted my old letter on other high schools’ forums. Can you help me get someone to check the poster’s IP address? If it’s from an internet café, can you get the surveillance video from that time?]
Jiang Xianzhi saw Zhou Yining’s message, checked the forum posts, and saw the insults and crude comments below. She was furious and called Zhou Yining.
Seeing the call, Zhou Yining quickly answered.
“Zhizhi? Sorry to trouble you.”
“No trouble. Who’s doing this? So vile. You’re improving, yet they keep dragging you down like an evil ghost, trying to pull you into the abyss,” Jiang Xianzhi said angrily.
“I don’t know who yet, but it’s obviously someone malicious who doesn’t want me to live comfortably. Don’t get mad. Just glance at the posts and don’t let them upset you,” Zhou Yining said.
“I’m mad for you. Take care of yourself. Call me anytime. I’ll arrange for someone to investigate this now.” Jiang Xianzhi hung up and called her sister.
Jiang Yueyi didn’t expect Zhou Yining to face such trouble again. She told Zhou Yining to send the evidence to her secretary, who would handle it.
After hanging up, the bus started moving. The students kept discussing the incident, but Zhou Yining turned off her phone and closed her eyes to rest.
Their destination was in the suburbs of Nanchuan City, over forty minutes from the city center. Many students dozed off, though some kept gossiping.
When the bus stopped, the lead teacher organized everyone to get off.
As they disembarked, many students looked at Zhou Yining curiously, some with malicious gazes.
“Hey, Nanchuan City’s math champion is quite the romantic, writing such sappy love letters.”
“Yeah, Zhou Yining, you must’ve dated a lot, huh? How many boyfriends have you had?”
Laughter erupted around her. Zhou Yining smiled faintly, took out her phone, and said, “Think it’s funny? I recorded what you two just said. There’s surveillance here too. I’ll sue you both for defamation. Talk to my lawyer later.”
