Chapter 58: No Way, She’s Serious?…
The taller boy was Guo Ziheng from Yinghua Private High School. He had just mocked Zhou Yining as a romantic. Now, he heard Zhou Yining’s threat, but Guo Ziheng didn’t take it seriously at all.
He laughed and said, “You’re funny. Do you think we’re three-year-old kids? You sue? Go ahead and sue. I want to see how you sue.”
“Exactly. Besides, I didn’t say anything wrong. A girl like you, who shows off love letters everywhere, looks like a promiscuous person. It’s not strange if you’ve dated lots of guys. What? You dare to do it but don’t dare let me say it?” Another short boy with a buzz cut, named Li Shangkun, said to Zhou Yining with bad intentions.
Zhou Yining coldly glanced at both of them and said, “You two try it and see. I’ll go find the team leader teacher to get your information. Wait for the lawyer’s letter.”
“Tch, don’t be scared of her. Who does she think she is? Does her family run a law firm? She thinks she can just order lawyers around. I think she’s watched too many TV dramas,” Guo Ziheng said. He was actually a bit scared, but thinking Zhou Yining was just a high school girl with no real guts to get a lawyer, he got bold again.
“Exactly. We’re waiting for you to sue. If you don’t sue, we’ll actually look down on you,” Li Shangkun said with a mocking face.
“Fine. Don’t beg me to settle later,” Zhou Yining said. She quickly walked to find the team leader teacher.
“Teacher, I want the names, contact information, and ID numbers if you have them for those two,” Zhou Yining said.
The team leader was a man in his thirties. He had heard the argument earlier but didn’t want to get involved in the mess.
“It’s just an argument. You really want to sue them? Don’t forget the purpose of this training. Don’t cause trouble. Be careful, or you might lose your training spot,” the male teacher said with a frown.
Zhou Yining looked at him coldly and said, “I don’t think this is trouble. I’m just protecting my legitimate rights. If you don’t tell me, I’ll call the police to get their information and then sue.”
“Are you okay? You’re calling the police over something this small? If you call the police, you definitely won’t attend the training,” the male teacher continued.
“If attending this training means I have to give up my dignity, then I’d rather not train. Right now, you just need to tell me if you’ll give me their information,” Zhou Yining said calmly, staring at the male teacher.
The male teacher probably thought Zhou Yining, a girl, wouldn’t dare call the police and was just bluffing. He said directly, “What you want involves their privacy. I can’t give it to you. Go ahead and call the police.”
“Fine,” Zhou Yining said calmly. She opened her phone and dialed 110. The call connected quickly.
The male teacher got a bit panicked now and said, “No way, you actually called the police?”
Zhou Yining ignored him and said directly, “Officer, two people verbally insulted and humiliated me, violating my right to personal dignity. I recorded it. I want to find a lawyer to sue them, but I can’t get their basic information now. I need your help to coordinate.”
The police officer on the phone paused for a moment before saying, “Tell me the address. Someone will come over soon.”
Zhou Yining clearly gave the address and her contact information, then hung up. After hanging up, she didn’t even look at the team leader male teacher and went to the bus to get her luggage.
The male teacher had never seen someone like her. She actually called the police without hesitation, and Zhou Yining was scarily calm through the whole process.
The male teacher then called the training’s person in charge and said, “Director Liu, there’s trouble. Among the girls here for training, there’s a tough one. Two boys made some excessive jokes, and she wants to sue them with a lawyer. She asked me for their contact information. I didn’t give it to her, so she called the police.”
“How do you do your job? This training is important. It’s only the first day, and you’ve caused such a big mess. I’ll come over after my meeting,” Director Liu said.
“Okay, Director Liu,” the male teacher said hurriedly.
Meanwhile, Zhou Yining had already grabbed her suitcase. Guo Ziheng saw she wasn’t talking and thought Zhou Yining was scared. He got cocky again.
“What? Didn’t you say you’d call the police? Go on and call. We’re waiting,” Guo Ziheng said, staring at Zhou Yining slyly.
“Exactly. All thunder and no rain. Go on and call,” Li Shangkun echoed.
Zhou Yining nodded at them and said, “I already called. In about ten minutes, the police should be here.”
Li Shangkun’s smile froze on his face. He looked at Guo Ziheng and muttered quietly, “No way, she’s serious?”
“Stay calm. What’s to fear? We didn’t say anything too outrageous. At most, we’ll get a lecture. Don’t be scared,” Guo Ziheng said to comfort him, also boosting his own courage.
The team leader teacher had no choice but to assign dorms to the students first. Most dorms were for four people, with beds above desks. Zhou Yining happened to be assigned to the same dorm as the girl who sat next to her on the bus.
She planned to put her luggage away first and then go downstairs to wait for the police.
“You really called the police?” the girl who sat next to her asked. The girl was named Fu Yuanke, a student from Yinghua Private High School.
Zhou Yining nodded and said, “Hmm, I asked the team leader teacher for those two boys’ information earlier. He didn’t give it to me, so I had to call the police to get evidence.”
Fu Yuanke gave Zhou Yining a thumbs-up and said, “Awesome. If it were me, I’d probably just let it go to avoid trouble.”
They talked as they walked. Soon, Zhou Yining reached the dorm. Their dorm was on the fourth floor, so they took the elevator up.
Zhou Yining had just pushed her suitcase inside when her phone rang. She quickly answered it and walked out fast.
At that moment, the sound of a police siren came from far to near. A police car really drove into the courtyard.
Guo Ziheng and Li Shangkun were assigned to the same dorm. When Guo Ziheng heard the police siren, his legs went weak. A tall guy like him was so scared he couldn’t stand.
“No way, she’s serious?” Guo Ziheng’s voice trembled as he spoke.
“Yeah, it was just a few words about her. Is it that serious? I’ve never seen such a crazy person,” Li Shangkun said, also scared and sweating coldly.
Meanwhile, Zhou Yining had taken the elevator downstairs. The team leader male teacher probably heard the commotion and hurried down.
Zhou Yining didn’t even look at him. She walked straight to several police officers and said, “Officers, I reported the case. Two boys insulted me with disgusting words. I feel my right to personal dignity was violated. I want to sue them with a lawyer, but the team leader teacher wouldn’t give me their information, so I had to call and trouble you.”
The lead female police officer heard Zhou Yining speak clearly and saw she was emotionally stable. She said, “Do you have a recording?”
Zhou Yining nodded and played the recording. It captured Guo Ziheng and Li Shangkun spreading rumors that she had dated many boyfriends and calling her promiscuous.
The female police officer looked at Zhou Yining with some surprise. After all, most people would just tolerate this level of insult and move on. She didn’t expect this girl to be so tough.
“Okay. According to procedure, we need to find those two people first and mediate. If mediation fails, you can proceed with the lawsuit,” the female officer explained.
“Good. Thank you,” Zhou Yining said calmly.
The police asked the team leader teacher standing nearby, “Hello, are you the responsible teacher? We need to talk to those two students now.”
“Officers, it’s just kids arguing. Can we let this go and not make it a big deal?” the male teacher advised.
“Since someone reported it, mediation is our duty. Please cooperate with our work. By the way, classmate, do you have photos of those two?” the female officer asked.
Zhou Yining shook her head and said, “No photos, but they’re both students here for training. The responsible teacher knows who they are.”
The female officer looked at the male teacher and said, “Hello, please take us there.”
The male teacher had no choice and led the way.
Soon, the group went up to the second floor to Guo Ziheng and Li Shangkun’s dorm.
The police knocked on the door and said, “Hello, we’re the police for this area. Please open the door.”
A boy in the dorm opened the door. The female officer, her male colleague, and Zhou Yining entered together.
The female officer looked at Zhou Yining and asked, “Which two?”
“The two inside. The tall one and the one with the buzz cut and glasses,” Zhou Yining pointed inside.
Guo Ziheng had never experienced this. He was almost crying and said, “Officers, we didn’t do anything. We just joked with her.”
“Yeah, just a joke. Who knew she couldn’t take it?” Li Shangkun quickly added.
The female officer frowned and said coldly, “I advise you to think before you speak. Your verbal slander against Zhou was recorded, and I heard it. What you said was indeed disgusting. Spreading rumors about a girl without evidence only shows you two have poor character.”
After the female officer spoke, Guo Ziheng and Li Shangkun shut up.
“Alright, we’ll proceed with routine mediation. Are you two willing to apologize to Zhou Yining?” the female officer asked coldly, looking at them.
Seeing Zhou Yining wasn’t someone to mess with, Guo Ziheng and Li Shangkun backed down immediately and said, “We’re willing. We just have bad mouths, but we’re not bad people.”
“Yeah, Zhou, I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have said those things. It’s my fault,” Li Shangkun quickly apologized to Zhou Yining.
Zhou Yining gave him a slight smile and said, “I don’t accept it. Apologizing is easy—just moving your lips. But what about the emotional harm you caused me? How do you make up for that? You don’t think this can be easily brushed off, do you?”
Zhou Yining then called Jiang Xianzhi and said, “Zhizhi, I need to trouble you again. Two boys at the training class spread disgusting rumors about me. I need a lawyer to sue them. I’ll send you the audio file and their information later. Please handle the lawyer.”
“Are you okay? Who’s so mouthy? It makes me so angry,” Jiang Xianzhi said, her eyes red with anger. Someone she cared about so much was treated like that.
“I’m fine. The police are still here. I’ll contact you later. I’ll hang up now,” Zhou Yining said and hung up.
Guo Ziheng and Li Shangkun were completely panicked now. Wasn’t police mediation enough? Did she really have to sue them?
