After Becoming the Abused Heroine in a Campus Story - Chapter 74: Living Together
Chapter 74: Living Together
“Why do you suddenly want to go live there, and how many days are you staying?” Liang Jing looked at the four large suitcases on the floor. She somehow felt her daughter wouldn’t want to come back home after going there.
“Yeah, these are all things I usually use—clothes, skincare products, and other stuff I might need. I brought them all over,” Jiang Xianzhi said with a smile.
Liang Jing pursed her lips and spoke again, “Zhizhi, you’re taking so many things over there. Don’t scare Zhou Yining. She might think you’re planning to live there permanently.”
“No way, Mom. Zhou Zhou is so nice. She won’t mind these things at all,” Jiang Xianzhi said, not listening to this at all. She was in such a great mood now.
In the morning, Jiang Xianzhi had to go to school, so she asked the maid to put the suitcases in a van. When the driver picked her up at noon after school, he would help move them to Zhou Yining’s place.
After the first class in the morning, Zhou Yining sent Jiang Xianzhi a WeChat message.
Zhou Yining: [Have you packed everything?]
Jiang Xianzhi: [Hmm, I asked the driver to bring them over at noon. (Cat rubbing jpg)]
Zhou Yining: [Good, then we’ll leave school together at noon.]
Jiang Xianzhi: [Hmm!]
After doing exercises, there were two math classes. Zhou Yining was working on her manuscript. She had already sent her previous manuscript to Wu Xinyu, the editor-in-chief of Night Color, and was waiting for feedback to see if it needed any revisions.
After school, Zhou Yining waited for Jiang Xianzhi at the entrance of the teaching building. Jiang Xianzhi came out soon and ran straight to Zhou Yining, reaching out to hug her. But she let go after a quick hug since there were still quite a few people around at dismissal time, and she felt a bit shy.
Zhou Yining, hugged by the young lady, smiled softly. She held Jiang Xianzhi’s hand and walked outside, saying, “Let’s go. We’ll go home and unpack your things together.”
“Hmm!” Jiang Xianzhi’s eyes lit up at this.
The two soon got into the van, which drove into the underground parking of the complex. Zhou Yining and two others pulled the four large suitcases toward the elevator.
Honestly, Zhou Yining was a bit surprised when she saw the four large suitcases. But since Jiang Xianzhi was a young lady who needed a lot of things, four suitcases seemed understandable.
After Zhou Yining opened the door, she pulled the suitcases inside, and the driver left.
Zhou Yining looked at the four suitcases and smiled, saying, “Let’s unpack the suitcases first. Shall we order takeout for lunch?”
With four large suitcases, it would be good if the two of them could finish unpacking by noon.
Jiang Xianzhi nodded excitedly, “Speaking of which, I’ve never ordered takeout before. My family doesn’t let me.”
Zhou Yining smiled, pulled her into a hug, opened the takeout app on her phone, and handed it to Jiang Xianzhi, saying, “See what you want to eat? Just press this little plus sign.”
Jiang Xianzhi leaned back in Zhou Yining’s arms, looking at the dazzling array of takeout options. She didn’t know what to choose. Finally, she picked fried chicken cutlets, fried enoki mushrooms, and other fried foods. Zhou Yining ordered a sweet and spicy fried rice noodle dish and two drinks.
After ordering, Zhou Yining opened one of the large suitcases. It was full of Jiang Xianzhi’s clothes.
Zhou Yining opened the floor-to-ceiling custom wardrobe in the room. Her own clothes only occupied two lonely compartments, with the rest empty. So, Zhou Yining started filling it with Jiang Xianzhi’s clothes.
Two large suitcases were entirely filled with clothes. Another suitcase contained various casual shoes and sneakers, some identical in style but different in color.
Zhou Yining felt her life was too simple. Including the shoes she wore to school, she only had two pairs. But now that the young lady was here, the once-empty shoe cabinet was instantly filled.
The last suitcase contained daily necessities—various skincare products, bath products, and even the cup Jiang Xianzhi used daily. By the time the two finished unpacking, the takeout had arrived.
Zhou Yining asked the delivery person to leave the takeout at the door, then went to pick it up.
Zhou Yining set the takeout on the table, and she and Jiang Xianzhi started eating.
Jiang Xianzhi tried the fried skewers and instantly loved them. Her family didn’t let her eat such greasy foods. She looked at the fried rice noodles in Zhou Yining’s bowl and asked, “Is that good?”
Zhou Yining looked up and saw the young lady staring at the rice noodles. She went to the cabinet, got a bowl, and served some to Jiang Xianzhi, saying, “Try it. It’s a bit spicy.”
“Hmm, it’s good,” Jiang Xianzhi said after taking a bite, loving it. The food at home was good too, but too bland. Eating something like this occasionally was quite enjoyable.
“If it’s good, eat more,” Zhou Yining said with a soft smile, shaking her head with a chuckle as she saw her small home filled with Jiang Xianzhi’s things.
After eating and drinking her fill, Jiang Xianzhi wandered around the room. She touched her ear shyly and said, “Zhou Zhou, am I taking over too much? Your wardrobe and shoe cabinet are almost full of my stuff.”
Zhou Yining laughed at her, saying, “It’s fine. I don’t have much stuff anyway, so it’s perfect to put yours in.”
“Hehe, I knew you were the best,” Jiang Xianzhi said, running over to nuzzle Zhou Yining affectionately.
After lunch, it was almost two o’clock. After washing their faces, Zhou Yining and Jiang Xianzhi went to school.
That afternoon, Jiang Xianzhi’s smile never faded. She even listened more attentively in class.
After dinner, Jiang Xianzhi hung out with Shi Yuanyuan and the others, chatting. Shi Yuanyuan noticed Jiang Xianzhi seemed in a great mood today and asked directly, “Zhizhi, what good thing happened to you today? You’re so happy.”
“Yeah, did your dad bring you a gift from his business trip? What is it? Let us see,” Si Yaqing chimed in.
Jiang Xianzhi’s ears turned slightly red. She fidgeted with her fingers shyly before asking, “Is it that obvious?”
Shi Yuanyuan and Si Yaqing said almost in unison, “Yes.”
They both nodded as they spoke.
Jiang Xianzhi rubbed her fingers a few more times before saying, “It’s not that my dad brought a gift. I’m going to live with Zhou Zhou for a few days.”
“Zhou Yining?” Shi Yuanyuan asked with a complicated expression.
Jiang Xianzhi nodded, “Hmm, she rented a small apartment nearby, and I’m moving in with her.”
Shi Yuanyuan was speechless. What kind of logic was this? Jiang Xianzhi had a huge villa at home but chose to live in a small apartment with Zhou Yining and was this happy about it? If this wasn’t love-struck behavior, what was?
Of course, she didn’t dare say this outright and just said dryly, “That’s nice.”
“Of course it’s nice,” Jiang Xianzhi replied. For her, as long as Zhou Yining was there, the size of the room didn’t matter.
Shi Yuanyuan and Si Yaqing didn’t want to continue this topic and quickly changed the subject. From Jiang Xianzhi’s behavior, they were certain she and Zhou Yining were dating. After all, Jiang Xianzhi hadn’t acted like this even when she was infatuated with Zhang Ye.
Jiang Xianzhi didn’t know what they were thinking. The thought of seeing Zhou Yining when she got home made her so happy she wanted to do two more math papers, especially since Zhou Yining wanted her to study hard.
With that in mind, Jiang Xianzhi took out a math paper. Shi Yuanyuan was stunned for a moment and asked, “What are you doing, Zhizhi? There’s still half an hour of break time. Why are you doing a paper now?”
“You guys go back to your seats. I need to hurry and do this paper,” Jiang Xianzhi said, starting on it.
Shi Yuanyuan and Si Yaqing were baffled. Well, people in love tend to act crazy, so they could only be understanding.
Soon, the last self-study class ended. Zhou Yining packed her things and prepared to leave school. She only took a few A4 papers out of the classroom. She had finished her homework long ago and didn’t need to review, so carrying a heavy backpack was pointless. Thus, Zhou Yining didn’t bother with it.
She walked out of the teaching building and saw Jiang Xianzhi waiting for her. Zhou Yining reached out to hold Jiang Xianzhi’s hand. Seeing she was still carrying her backpack, Zhou Yining said directly, “Give me your backpack.”
“Huh?” Jiang Xianzhi was taken aback.
Zhou Yining smiled at her, saying, “Huh what? Give me your backpack. I’ll carry it for you.”
“What about your backpack? Didn’t you bring it?” Jiang Xianzhi asked.
Zhou Yining nodded, took Jiang Xianzhi’s backpack off her, handed her the A4 papers to hold, and carried the backpack herself.
Jiang Xianzhi’s ears turned slightly red. Was Zhou Zhou being too good to her, not even letting her carry her own backpack?
Feeling happy, she reached out to hold Zhou Yining’s hand. Zhou Yining’s lips curved slightly, and she led her out of the school.
Ten minutes later, they were home.
“You take a shower first, then do your homework. We’ll still sleep at 11:30 sharp,” Zhou Yining said.
“Hmm, but I finished my homework today,” Jiang Xianzhi said, hugging Zhou Yining’s waist and nuzzling into her affectionately.
Zhou Yining smiled, patted her, and said, “Good, my little fox is the best. But you need to shower now, or there won’t be time to study later.”
Jiang Xianzhi pouted, reluctantly got up from Zhou Yining’s arms, grabbed her nightgown, and obediently went to the bathroom to shower.
Zhou Yining took out her laptop and started writing. She could probably write about three thousand words before bed.
Half an hour later, the sound of a hairdryer came from the bathroom. Soon, Jiang Xianzhi came out.
Zhou Yining stopped typing and looked up at Jiang Xianzhi. The young lady was wearing a cute white cat nightgown, revealing slender ankles, well-proportioned calves, and smooth, fair shoulders and neck.
Zhou Yining stared at Jiang Xianzhi, lost in thought for a while until Jiang Xianzhi called her, snapping her out of it.
“Zhou Zhou? Why are you spacing out? Is there something on me?” Jiang Xianzhi looked at her shoulders and neck. She had just showered, so what was Zhou Zhou looking at?
Zhou Yining looked away, turning her gaze back to the computer screen, and changed the subject, saying, “Nothing. You review obediently. When I’m done, I’ll go over your math mistakes with you.”
As expected, mentioning math made the young lady pout pitifully. She forgot the earlier moment and grumbled as she rummaged through her backpack for her math paper.
