Chapter 82: Zhou Zhou, You’ve Learned Bad Things
“Zhou Zhou, are you okay?” Jiang Xianzhi worriedly asked Zhou Yining about the earlier incident.
“I’m fine. I drank some water and rested a bit. Later, we’ll go out to grill some food together,” Zhou Yining replied, handing the water cup to Jiang Xianzhi. She also drank a few sips of water herself.
“Hmm,” Jiang Xianzhi responded, feeling slightly relieved after seeing Zhou Yining was truly fine.
Around six o’clock, the staff set up several grills in the courtyard. They prepared various ingredients. Zhou Yining and her group decided to grill themselves.
Jiang Yueyi and Jiang Shengde handled grilling the lamb, beef, and other meats. Zhou Yining and Jiang Xianzhi took charge of grilling vegetables.
Zhou Yining examined the sauces in front of her. She decided to flavor half the dishes with barbecue sauce and half with sweet-spicy sauce.
She brushed the sauces onto eggplant slices and mushrooms. Jiang Xianzhi brushed sweet-spicy sauce on her side.
Soon, the aroma of grilled vegetables mixed with the scent of sizzling oil wafted through the air.
Zhou Yining felt hungry. Fortunately, the courtyard had plenty of grills. In no time, batch after batch of grilled meat and vegetables was ready.
Zhou Yining took a skewer of grilled beef and ate it with sweet-spicy eggplant slices. She thoroughly enjoyed the combination.
Jiang Xianzhi ate grilled fish, which they freshly caught that afternoon. After simple marination and brushing with sweet-spicy sauce, the fish tasted especially fresh and sweet.
While eating barbecue and sipping iced soda, Zhou Yining’s mood improved significantly.
Jiang Shengde had little contact with Zhou Yining. He spent most of his time abroad recently. Thus, he felt quite curious about his daughter’s girlfriend. After all, his little daughter grew up spoiled, never facing hardship. She previously only showed interest in the Zhang family’s boy. Now, she suddenly liked a girl?
Though curious, he didn’t object. He thought a girl’s thoughtfulness could take good care of his daughter, Zhizhi.
While grilling meat, Jiang Shengde occasionally sneaked glances at Zhou Yining and Jiang Xianzhi.
At that moment, Jiang Xianzhi started grilling mushrooms and leeks. She fanned the heat with a small fan. She also fed Zhou Yining some meat skewers.
Jiang Shengde watched briefly but couldn’t continue. He thought young people nowadays were too mushy, already feeding each other?
Of course, he pretended not to notice and continued grilling his meat.
Jiang Yueyi teased with a smile, “Dad, you’ll get used to it. They’re always this clingy. Mom and I got used to it long ago.”
She had seen them do a princess carry. Feeding each other was nothing shocking to her anymore.
Jiang Shengde smiled but felt a bit worried. “They’re so young. I wonder if they can stay together long-term.”
“Dad, you’re worrying too far ahead. As long as Zhizhi is happy now, that’s enough,” Jiang Yueyi replied.
“You’re right. I’ll stop worrying. It’s Zhizhi’s choice, and as long as she’s satisfied, that’s fine,” Jiang Shengde agreed.
While Zhou Yining grilled, Jiang Xianzhi fed her. After finishing a batch of vegetables, Zhou Yining felt full.
Past seven in the evening, the group drove back to the villa in the city center.
Back in the room, Zhou Yining urged Jiang Xianzhi to shower first. She sat and played on her phone for a while.
That evening, unfamiliar numbers kept calling her, but she didn’t answer.
Meanwhile, at Nanchuan City First Hospital, Zhou Yuanfei grumbled incessantly, “Zhou Yining, that heartless girl, doesn’t even answer the phone now. We’re suffering here, but she’s living carefree.”
“Dad, where is she now? I’ll find her. Mom’s like this, so why isn’t she here taking care of her?” Zhou Jiaming complained, feeling it was unfair. Even he had to buy and deliver food. If Zhou Yining were here, he wouldn’t have to do it.
“Finding her won’t help. She’s stubborn now and even wants to sue me for child support,” Zhou Yuanfei said.
“She’s crazy, absolutely crazy,” Zhou Jiaming cursed.
Zhou Yuanfei reluctantly fed Zhao Xiuna. After thinking, he said, “Jiaming, I’ve been at the hospital watching your mom all day. Tonight, you stay with her. You’re old enough to help out at home.”
“Dad, I haven’t finished my homework. You stay,” Zhou Jiaming refused. He didn’t want to stay in the gloomy hospital overnight.
“Why are you so disobedient? Do you want to be like Zhou Yining? Fine, if you’re capable, don’t let me support you either,” Zhou Yuanfei snapped, already full of frustration.
“You can’t control Zhou Yining, so why yell at me?” Zhou Jiaming retorted defiantly.
Zhao Xiuna cried with tears streaming down her face. “Stop arguing, stop arguing. I’ll stay alone. You both go back.”
“We both go back? That’s rich. If it weren’t for you, would we be here? Useless, utterly useless,” Zhou Yuanfei cursed again. He wanted to go home but couldn’t bear to hire a caregiver.
Zhou Yuanfei glared at Zhou Jiaming. “Get out, just like your sister. You’ll both be ungrateful wolves.”
Zhou Jiaming, angry, shot back, “It’s all Mom’s fault for being careless. She even burned herself cooking.”
Saying this, Zhou Jiaming glared at Zhao Xiuna. Fearing being forced to stay, he quickly walked away.
Zhao Xiuna felt cold from head to toe. Though her burn was accidental, she never expected her husband and son to react this way. It was only the first day, and they were already so impatient. She feared they’d grow even more resentful later.
At the same time, she missed the old Zhou Yining. If her daughter were still obedient like before, at least someone would care for her. Thinking this, Zhao Xiuna cried even harder.
Zhou Yuanfei cursed impatiently, “Cry, cry, cry. Stop it. Save your strength. It’s annoying.”
Zhao Xiuna, tears streaming, dared not speak further.
Meanwhile, Zhou Yining played on her phone. Jiang Xianzhi came out of the bathroom.
She had just dried her hair. She combed it back as she walked out.
Zhou Yining’s gaze landed on the girl’s smooth shoulder and neck, then moved to her lips.
Sensing Zhou Yining’s intense gaze, Jiang Xianzhi’s ear tips reddened unconsciously. She stole a glance at Zhou Yining, saw her staring, and immediately felt shy.
“Zhou Zhou, why are you looking at me? Go shower. Didn’t you say we’d sleep early?” Jiang Xianzhi urged.
Zhou Yining’s eyes darkened slightly. Instead of heading to the bathroom, she slowly walked to Jiang Xianzhi. She leaned in, lightly sniffed the girl’s neck, and saw Jiang Xianzhi blush from her ears to her neck.
“So fragrant,” Zhou Yining softly complimented. She didn’t do anything excessive, only gently touched Jiang Xianzhi’s hair before heading to the bathroom.
Jiang Xianzhi, shy, buried herself in the blanket. The side of her neck Zhou Yining sniffed felt scalding hot. She felt like she was burning up.
She thought her Zhou Zhou had learned bad things. Zhou Zhou was deliberately teasing her just now.
Jiang Xianzhi rolled in the blanket twice. Not only did she not get mad at Zhou Yining, but she even slightly hoped Zhou Yining would kiss her. Thinking this, the young lady felt even more like she was burning up.
Zhou Yining, in a great mood, started showering. The young lady wasn’t of age, so she couldn’t do much, but teasing was always fine.
After drying her hair and coming out, she saw the little fox still lying on the bed, shy.
Zhou Yining lifted one side of the blanket and lay down. Jiang Xianzhi didn’t rush into her arms this time.
Zhou Yining’s eyes curved with a smile. She stretched out her arm, pulled the young lady into her embrace, and mischievously sniffed her hair. “It’s fragrant here too.”
Jiang Xianzhi nearly died of embarrassment. She buried her entire face in Zhou Yining’s arms. “Zhou Zhou, you’ve learned bad things.”
Hearing Jiang Xianzhi’s playful complaint, Zhou Yining’s eyes curved happily. She gently rubbed Jiang Xianzhi’s hair. The girl’s soft hair felt comfortable in her hand. “No way. It’s naturally fragrant. Now you know why I didn’t let you move around the past few nights, right?”
Jiang Xianzhi, soft in Zhou Yining’s arms, was too shy to respond.
Seeing her shyness, Zhou Yining let the young lady off. “Alright, no more talking. We played all day and are tired. Sleep early. We have to study tomorrow morning.”
Jiang Xianzhi’s heat quickly faded. Her Zhou Zhou sure knew how to kill the mood, thinking about studying tomorrow even in bed. That was her Zhou Zhou.
But Jiang Xianzhi also felt relieved. She was a bit nervous earlier. If Zhou Zhou wanted to do something, she wouldn’t bear to push her away. That would be too early for both of them, as they weren’t of age yet. Things were good as they were.
“Hmm, got it. Study, study. You just love studying,” Jiang Xianzhi quietly grumbled.
Then Zhou Yining pressed her lower back. That spot was already ticklish, and now, knowing they liked each other, it was even more sensitive. With one press, Jiang Xianzhi went weak in Zhou Yining’s arms.
“What are you doing?” Jiang Xianzhi’s voice softened several degrees, making Zhou Yining’s heart itch.
She smiled at Jiang Xianzhi and said softly, “Nothing. I just want to tell you, besides loving studying, I also love you.”
As soon as Zhou Yining said it, the young lady in her arms blushed even more, her ear tips bright red.
Seeing her shyness, Zhou Yining didn’t continue teasing. She only gently patted Jiang Xianzhi’s lower back. “Alright, no more teasing. I’ll turn off the main light. We really need to sleep soon.”
“Hmm,” Jiang Xianzhi replied. She stayed in Zhou Yining’s arms, letting the heat on her face fade.
She obediently adjusted to a comfortable position, not daring to move much. She grabbed her phone and played it while leaning in Zhou Yining’s arms.
They went to bed before ten.
The next few days weren’t as relaxed as the first day of the holiday. Zhou Yining made Jiang Xianzhi study hard. They finished homework for each subject in the morning. In the afternoon, Zhou Yining took time to explain math problems to Jiang Xianzhi. The rest of the time, she urged Jiang Xianzhi to review other subjects.
Jiang Shengde watched in amazement. He asked doubtfully, “Is Zhou Yining really with our Zhizhi?”
Liang Jing nodded. “Yes, didn’t I tell you?”
“But it doesn’t look like they’re dating. Zhou Yining acts stricter than Zhizhi’s homeroom teacher,” Jiang Shengde said.
Liang Jing smiled. “Isn’t that good? Someone’s managing Zhizhi. They’re not neglecting studies because of dating. I think Zhou Yining is great. With her, I don’t worry about Zhizhi’s studies.”
“That’s true, but can a study maniac like Zhou Yining really win a girl over?” Jiang Shengde wondered. Or did his daughter just like study maniacs?
