After Becoming the Abused Heroine in a Campus Story - Chapter 84 College Entrance Exam
Chapter 84 College Entrance Exam
Jiang Xianzhi saw her parents treated Zhou Yining well, and she happily followed suit.
“For lunch, we ate barbecue at home, and in the evening, we cooked dishes and made dumplings,” Jiang Shengde said with a smile.
“Hmm, what meat did you three want to eat? We had everything at home, freshly delivered this morning,” Liang Jing asked the three children across from her.
Jiang Yueyi never liked meat much. “I’m fine with anything. You asked them,” she said.
Liang Jing looked at Jiang Xianzhi and Zhou Yining again.
“I wanted to eat grilled fish, the boneless kind, and some beef too,” Jiang Xianzhi said after thinking.
“Yining, what about you? What did you want to eat?” Liang Jing asked.
“Lamb, enoki mushrooms, and shiitake mushrooms too,” Zhou Yining said after thinking.
“好, then we prepared together in the dining room later,” Liang Jing said with a smile.
Every year, their family of four celebrated the New Year together. This year, Liang Jing gained another daughter and felt quite happy.
Zhou Yining hurriedly ate fried dough sticks and wontons. After finishing breakfast, she and Jiang Xianzhi took over washing the pots. Zhou Yining washed the first round, and Jiang Xianzhi rinsed with clean water twice.
Liang Jing and the others moved the cutting boards for vegetables and meat to the dining room. Some people cut meat, and others washed vegetables.
Jiang Shengde cut meat and looked at the children with a smile. “Work kept me too busy every year. Only during the New Year did I have time to spend with you. Xianzhi, you’re about to take the college entrance exam. I felt relieved. Yueyi, only you remained. Your little sister already had a girlfriend. When did you bring someone home?” he said.
“Tch, Dad, why didn’t you go to a meeting abroad? Why rushed me?” Jiang Yueyi grumbled.
“Exactly, Yueyi was only 26. Why did you rush?” Liang Jing said, defending her daughter.
Jiang Shengde laughed. “Fine, fine, I didn’t say anything. I just wanted the best for Yueyi, so she didn’t have to eat dog food at home these days,” he said.
“Dad!” Jiang Yueyi felt speechless. The problem wasn’t hers; her little sister and her girlfriend were just too advanced.
“Alright, alright, I stopped teasing you. Kept cutting the meat thinly so it cooked easily later,” Jiang Shengde instructed.
In the kitchen, Zhou Yining and Jiang Xianzhi nearly finished washing the dishes. They went out to help too.
There were many things to cut and wash, but with many people, they finished the work quickly.
Everyone rarely gathered together. Liang Jing took out playing cards, and they chatted while playing cards.
At 12 o’clock, Zhou Yining and the others started grilling meat in the kitchen. The oven was large, and vegetables and meat came out in one batch.
At noon, everyone rested in their rooms since they stayed up late that night.
Zhou Yining and Jiang Xianzhi did the same. Jiang Xianzhi lazily leaned in Zhou Yining’s arms, playing on her phone. Zhou Yining watched her play with curved eyes, occasionally reaching out to mess with her.
“What game was so fun that you didn’t even look at me?” Zhou Yining said, deliberately pressing random buttons, successfully catching the young lady’s attention.
“Zhou Zhou! Look, you made me lose,” Jiang Xianzhi said, tossing her phone aside and turning to tickle Zhou Yining.
Zhou Yining laughed at the little fox’s attack. She grabbed the squirming young lady and pinned her down.
“The little fox wasn’t good. I had to punish the little fox,” Zhou Yining said, looking at Jiang Xianzhi beneath her, swallowing hard a few times.
Jiang Xianzhi felt shy under Zhou Yining’s gaze, her ears turning red. Pinned down and unable to escape, she simply closed her eyes. It was her Zhou Zhou, so a kiss didn’t matter.
Zhou Yining’s gaze deepened as the girl obediently closed her eyes, waiting for a kiss.
Zhou Yining took several deep breaths to hold back. She leaned down and kissed Jiang Xianzhi’s forehead. “You’re not an adult yet. We can’t,” she said.
Hearing this, Jiang Xianzhi felt relieved but also a bit disappointed. She wondered what kissing felt like, especially what kissing Zhou Yining would feel like. But her Zhou Zhou was too serious, insisting on waiting until she was an adult to kiss.
Jiang Xianzhi deliberately hooked her arms around Zhou Yining’s neck, leaning up to act coy. “Just a kiss on the forehead?” she said.
Zhou Yining took a deep breath and pulled the hands from her neck. “Hmm, sleep well and don’t think too much,” she said.
Jiang Xianzhi pouted but obediently nestled in Zhou Yining’s arms.
They woke up around five. After washing their faces, they hurried downstairs to help.
Jiang Shengde already prepared the dumpling filling. Liang Jing and Jiang Yueyi were making dumplings.
Zhou Yining spoke a bit embarrassedly. “Uncle, Aunt, sorry, we woke up late,” she said.
“It’s fine. The three of us could handle it,” Liang Jing said.
“Let Xianzhi and me help anyway,” Zhou Yining said, quickly washing her hands with Jiang Xianzhi to help make dumplings.
When the dumplings were done, Liang Jing cooked them while Jiang Shengde stir-fried dishes.
At eight in the evening, the dumplings and a large table of other dishes were ready. The family sat at the table and ate New Year’s Eve dinner.
Zhou Yining felt hungry. She ate several dumplings in a row, exclaiming how delicious they were.
Seeing she liked them, Liang Jing gave her more.
“We’re all family now, Yining. This was your home. Every year, we celebrated together,” Liang Jing said with a smile.
“Yes, if you needed anything, just told us. We’re all family,” Jiang Shengde added.
“Good,” Zhou Yining replied with a smile.
Around ten, Zhou Yining and Jiang Xianzhi took some sparklers outside to light. The neighborhood was lively, with many people setting off fireworks.
Zhou Yining and Jiang Xianzhi lit some sparklers for a while, then stayed in the yard to watch others.
Zhou Yining looked at Jiang Xianzhi beside her and felt that coming to this world was pretty good. At least she met her little fox.

After the New Year, Zhou Yining and Jiang Xianzhi started intense studying again. Since it was their senior year, they returned to school early for extra classes.
While eating dinner at school, Zhou Yining ran into Zhong Yumeng. They sat together and chatted.
“Didn’t you say you’d be back in January?” Zhou Yining asked.
“I got delayed a bit. Since it was close to the New Year, I came back at the start of this semester,” Zhong Yumeng explained.
Zhou Yining nodded. “By the way, I saw you trending online as the most beautiful art examinee,” she said.
Zhong Yumeng nodded with a smile. “That’s right. I’m going to be a big star. But Teacher Zhou, got ready. You might need to help me cram math in the coming time,” she said.
“No problem,” Zhou Yining agreed readily.
From March, time flew by. Even the struggling students in the back of Class 19 started studying, as everyone wanted to boost their college entrance exam scores in the final stretch.
Zhou Yining and Jiang Xianzhi were the same. Besides daily classes, Zhou Yining tutored Jiang Xianzhi in math at their apartment in the evenings. On Sundays, she tutored Jiang Xianzhi in the morning and Zhong Yumeng in the afternoon.
On the morning of June 7, Liang Jing and Jiang Yueyi didn’t rush to the company. Zhou Yining and Jiang Xianzhi were assigned to different exam centers. Liang Jing drove Jiang Xianzhi, while Jiang Yueyi drove Zhou Yining.
At nine, the exam bell rang. Zhou Yining started answering the Chinese test paper. Since it was the college entrance exam, she was extra cautious but finished checking all questions twenty minutes early.
At noon, Zhou Yining didn’t go home. She booked a nearby hourly room to rest more.
In the afternoon, she took the math exam. After getting the paper, Zhou Yining scanned it entirely before starting with the multiple-choice questions. This year’s math test had some difficulty, harder than their previous mock exams. The final big question was tough. Zhou Yining worried a bit for Jiang Xianzhi, but since the difficulty increased, everyone’s scores would generally be lower. Thinking this, Zhou Yining felt more at ease.
That evening, Zhou Yining and Jiang Xianzhi returned to the villa. Liang Jing and Jiang Yueyi didn’t ask how they did, only told them to eat well and rest well.
Jiang Xianzhi felt a bit down. While sleeping that night, she nestled in Zhou Yining’s arms, sighing repeatedly.
Zhou Yining turned on the bedside lamp, looked at the person in her arms, and asked, “What’s wrong?”
Jiang Xianzhi shook her head with some grievance. “This math test was so hard. I felt I worked hard, but I probably got the last big question wrong,” she said.
“This math test was indeed tough. But with higher difficulty, everyone did averagely. You didn’t need to worry about your score. Just focused on the humanities exam tomorrow morning,” Zhou Yining comforted softly.
“Really? You thought it was tough too?” Jiang Xianzhi asked.
“Hmm, relaxed your mind, slept well, and after tomorrow’s exam, we could finally relax,” Zhou Yining comforted softly.
“Hmm,” Jiang Xianzhi said, nestling in her arms to sleep.
The next day’s humanities and English exams were moderately difficult, similar to the mock exams.
After finishing the English exam and leaving the test center, Zhou Yining felt completely relieved. She no longer had to stay up late and wake up early like in senior year.
That evening, at Jiang Xianzhi’s strong request, Zhou Yining compared answers with her. Zhou Yining found Jiang Xianzhi did quite well, even in math, with only a few issues in the last two big questions.
Jiang Xianzhi asked from the side, “How was it? How many points did you think I could get?”
“You could get at least 620 points. Don’t worried too much. Your math was good,” Zhou Yining said.
Hearing this, Jiang Xianzhi felt slightly relieved. Otherwise, all her hard work would have been for nothing. “That’s good,” she said.
