"After Becoming the Protagonist's Scumbag Alpha Ex-Wife" (ABO) - Chapter 11
When Qin Ran caught the feather-light Wen Qingyun in her arms, Qingyun’s reaction became more intense. Her strength surged slightly, her eyes were unfocused, and her limbs flailed in panic. But with her body tilting into Qin Ran’s embrace and losing balance, she couldn’t get up—like someone drowning, struggling in silence and looking utterly helpless.
Just moments ago, she had been like a peony dusted with frost and snow. Now, she looked like a flower battered by wind and rain. The meticulously styled hair from earlier had already begun to come undone.
“She’s having an episode!” Aunt Fu recognized the signs immediately. She rushed over to help, but Wen Qingyun shoved her away in a blind panic. Only Qin Ran had enough strength to hold her and keep her from running off again.
Fu Ma wanted to push Qingyun away from Qin Ran, but she was also afraid that if Wen Qingyun struggled, she might end up hurting herself.
“I’m sorry, I need to take her back to her room first,” Qin Ran said quickly, lifting the struggling Qingyun and carrying her away.
Wen Qingyun was losing control.
The last time this happened, her episode had been triggered by illness and hunger, and her body was too weak to sustain it—she had passed out not long after it began.
But this time, she’d eaten and was in slightly better physical condition, causing her to resistance to be strong and more forceful—her emotions was alos more volatile.
Her long nails dug into Qin Ran’s skin, leaving a burning pain in several places.
Just as Qin Ran was about to reach Qingyun’s bedroom, something clattered to the floor. She looked down—it was a small folding knife. It was likely something Qingyun had been carrying with her.
Qin Ran gave a wry smile. Seriously? She prepared a weapon this fast?
Clearly, she’d have to tread even more carefully around her.
Luckily, Qingyun wasn’t fully lucid. Otherwise, the way Qin Ran was holding her now might’ve earned her a knife to the gut.
What exactly had triggered her like this? Judging by her expression, she seemed to be in deep pain.
In this state, Qin Ran really wanted to release her pheromones to try calming Wen Qingyun down. But given how Qingyun had previously reacted negatively to the experiment, and with Aunt Fu still in the room, she held herself back.
Aunt Fu, all too familiar with this kind of episode, hurried to grab the medical kit, which contained a tranquilizer.
There had been many times when Qingyun lost control and, if not stopped in time, would hurt herself. The doctors had recommended using sedatives in such cases.
Aunt Fu had been trained in administering intramuscular injections at the hospital and was now quite skilled. By the time Qin Ran laid Qingyun on her bed, Aunt Fu had already prepared the syringe.
Seeing the needle in Aunt Fu’s hand, Qin Ran felt uneasy. Too many tranquilizers couldn’t be good for her body. But right now, there was no other way to restrain Wen Qingyun. She couldn’t keep holding her down forever.
Qin Ran pinned down Wen Qingyun’s arm while Aunt Fu gave the injection. Soon, Qingyun’s struggling eased, her eyes turned vacant and hazy—the sedative was taking effect.
Her face had gone pale and her long lashes was drooping. The sight reminded Qin Ran of those words again: fragile, helpless, pitiful…
“Qin Ran, are you doing this on purpose?” Aunt Fu snapped, turning to her with visible anger. “Ever since Qingyun had the baby, her glands have been a mess—her pheromones are completely out of balance. The old master already brought in some so-called ‘soothers’ before. She couldn’t stand them. They made her spiral even worse. There’s no way she’ll respond to that kind of treatment. What exactly are you trying to do?!”
Her tone was biting and her glare was filled with fury, clearly outraged by everything Qin Ran had done today.
What an act she’s putting on, she thought. All that talk about divorce, acting so righteous and determined, saying she’d walk away with nothing—and now this?
Expecting Wen Qingyun to meet the condition of being able to care for herself in order to finalize the divorce? That was never going to happen.
Qin Ran was stunned by Aunt Fu’s outburst. She hadn’t known that Qingyun had already tried seeing pheromone therapists before. Perhaps that detail was never important to the original “book-transmigrated” protagonist—there was no memory of it in her mind.
“Aunt Fu, there are many types of soothers. If we find one with matching pheromones, it could work. Maybe the previous ones just weren’t the right fit.
You don’t need to shut it down right away. How will we know unless we try?
What I said earlier wasn’t a joke. I meant every word. As for Father-in-law, his current condition doesn’t allow for surgery, which means he can’t wake up. But I’ll keep working with the hospital on it. If either condition is met, we can proceed with the divorce,” Qin Ran explained calmly.
Qingyun’s father was stuck in a hopeless cycle too.
In the original plot, after Qingyun fell into a coma and her father’s body had also deteriorated to the point where surgery was impossible. It was only after Wen Qingyun’s health improved and she developed a drug that his condition stabilized and that surgery became possible. That’s when her father, Wen Zhenheng, finally recovered.
But now? With Qingyun unable to take care of herself or regulate her emotions, how could she possibly develop that medicine?
In the end, it all came back to one thing—Qingyun had to regain the ability to live independently and be deemed legally competent. That was the most crucial, and most achievable, condition.
“Lawyer Li is still waiting. I’ll go have him process whatever paperwork we can move forward with for now,” Qin Ran said, not expecting Aunt Fu to believe her right away. She turned and headed to the study.
Aunt Fu hesitated and her expression were clouded, but eventually followed her.

Once in the study, Qin Ran began consulting Lawyer Li about several matters.
“Please help me process everything we discussed earlier as soon as possible, including having it notarized. I’ll fully cooperate,” Qin Ran said to Lawyer Li after going over the necessary documents. “Once Ms. Wen Qingyun is officially certified as capable of taking care of herself, we’ll immediately proceed with the divorce procedures.”
“Understood. I’ll handle it promptly,” Lawyer Li replied in his usual professional tone.
Aunt Fu watched Qin Ran calmly discuss legal matters and then—just as calmly—ask the lawyer to transfer all of her assets from the past five years into Wen Qingyun’s name. The whole thing felt surreal.
To her, it all reeked of scheming.
Her thoughts spun. Could Qin Ran be trying to build herself a good public image?
If something were to happen to both Wen Qingyun and her father… even with legally sound transfer agreements, wouldn’t everything still end up in Qin Ran’s hands?
Before, Qin Ran had used pressure tactics. But now? Now she was playing a longer, more dangerous game. What exactly is she trying to pull…?
Aunt Fu’s guard shot up. She had to protect both Wen Qingyun and little Rou Rou at all costs.
“Qin Ran, since you’ve asked me to return, shouldn’t we also bring back Xiao Zhang, the old chauffeur?” Aunt Fu asked, watching Qin Ran as she saw Lawyer Li out. “He’s a decent person.”
Xiao Zhang, a retired soldier, had long served as Wen Qingyun’s father’s personal driver and was trained in self-defense. Qin Ran had dismissed him when she fired most of the old household staff.
Aunt Fu wasn’t sure how Qin Ran would respond. Rehiring her—a physically frail, aging Omega—was one thing. But bringing back Xiao Zhang? That seemed unlikely.
To her surprise, Qin Ran immediately replied, “Sure. That’s a good idea. Aunt Fu, here’s the household card—please take over management of everything in the villa again. You can choose the housekeeping staff and drivers as you see fit.”
“Uh…” Aunt Fu stared at the card in her hand, then looked up at Qin Ran, completely caught off guard.
It had already been unexpected that Qin Ran would allow her to come back and take care of Qingyun. But handing over the full authority to manage the household?
Maybe she really doesn’t care about Xiao Zhang?
Either way, having him back would add a layer of protection.
She’d bring back the trusted former staff. Aside from A’Mei, who was decent, most of the new hires were questionable. They’d be evaluated and replaced if necessary.
“I think we still have time today. Let’s make a trip to the Pheromone Therapy Management Center and see if we can find someone suitable,” Qin Ran said to Aunt Fu, breaking her train of thought.
It had been a long day, but Qin Ran wasn’t tired—nor did she want to waste time. She was eager to get started with finding a soother for Qingyun.
“No need. I’ll go consult with them myself,” Aunt Fu said firmly with a serious tone. She didn’t know much about soothing therapists—Wen Qingyun’s father had handled everything before. They’d only ever brought one in, and Qingyun had reacted so badly that the matter was dropped altogether.
When it came to Qingyun’s treatment, Aunt Fu didn’t trust Qin Ran at all. Who knew what kind of stunt she might pull in choosing a therapist? It was better to consult with the professionals directly.
“Uh… alright then. I’ll come with you,” Qin Ran said with a nod.
If Aunt Fu wanted to go, that was fine. Her being present didn’t conflict with anything.
Aunt Fu checked on Wen Qingyun, who was still sound asleep after the sedative. She gave some instructions to A’Mei to keep an eye on her, while Qin Ran called for the driver to take them to the therapist management center.
Shortly after they left the villa, one of the maids glanced around cautiously, found a secluded corner, and pulled out her phone to make a call.
“I don’t know what exactly they discussed with Lawyer Li today, but now President Qin and Aunt Fu are headed to the Pheromone Therapy Management Center. It seems like they’re planning to get Miss Wen a treatment,” the maid whispered into her phone.
The person on the other end of the line was none other than Su Yuecha.
Aside from her mother, there were still others in the villa who worked for her.
After she left, Su Yuecha had contacted this maid and promised her compensation in exchange for updates. Ever since, the maid had been feeding her bits of information from inside the villa.
Hearing about Qin Ran’s recent flurry of actions, Su Yuecha’s expression shifted—but eventually, a slow, calculating smile curled on her lips.
