"After Becoming the Protagonist's Scumbag Alpha Ex-Wife" (ABO) - Chapter 13
Fu Ma let out a sigh of relief when she saw Wen Qingyun agree, then told her what had happened while she was unwell.
“Qin Ran said she’d fully cooperate with Lawyer Li to get all the procedures done. All the shares, properties—everything will be transferred to your name. I don’t know what she’s planning.
We can’t let our guard down. You have to stay vigilant. I’ll call Xiao Zhang and Ah Zhen and have them come back. No matter what, I’ll protect you this time,” Fu Ma said.
“Thank you, Mama Fu,” Wen Qingyun replied in sign language. Although her gaze appeared gentle, she felt a heaviness in her heart. If Qin Ran really intended to transfer all those shares and properties to her, it was even more terrifying.
Fu Ma and Wen Qingyun had the same thoughts regarding the sudden change of Qin Ran.
Those procedures would take time, and during that time, their marriage would still be valid. Even if everything was finalized, if something happened to her and Rou Rou in the end, what would those transfers even mean?
They’d be nothing but a show for others to see.
Wen Qingyun suddenly thought of her folding knife and reached for it—only to realize it was gone!
“No need for thanks. You know your condition better than anyone. Just relax and stop overthinking. You’re going to get better!
It’s been a long day. Aren’t you hungry? It’s almost time for a late lunch. I’ll go check if it’s ready and bring it up for you,” Fu Ma said, and Wen Qingyun gave her a small nod.
Just as Fu Ma opened the door, she saw Qin Ran squatting besides Rou Rou in the hallway not far away, smiling as she slipped coins into Rou Rou’s piggy bank.
Everyone else remained wary of Qin Ran despite her friendly gestures—but Rou Rou was still young. Even though she used to signal “eliminate” with her hands to protect Wen Qingyun, she responded more directly to kindness.
Seeing Rou Rou’s brightened eyes and cheerful face made Qin Ran feel a rare sense of accomplishment. At least the kid liked her—her reactions were written all over her face.
Qin Ran had asked A’Mei to find her some fifty-cent coins. The shiny little things made Rou Rou’s eyes sparkle.
It only took less than five yuan to bring out the kid’s adorable dimples.
Kids were simple. Seeing her smile warmed Qin Ran’s mood a little too.
At least now she felt like her “oxygen tube” was secure.
“Little hero, Rou Rou, can we be best friends? If we are, I’ll give you one of these gold coins every day.”
Qin Ran held out her pinky. Superheroes made pinky promises with their friends—she wanted to try it too.
Rou Rou’s big round eyes looked at her, hesitant, as if seriously considering whether they should be friends.
That alone was progress. Before, Rou Rou wouldn’t even hesitate—she would’ve refused instantly.
“President Qin, tomorrow’s Monday. Will Rou Rou be going to school? “She has already missed several days of school,” A’Mei quietly asked, trying to change the topic to save Qin Ran from embarrassment.
“Of course she’s going. What else would a little kid do? Go ahead and prepare her things for school,” Qin Ran replied.
“No school, no!” Rou Rou shook her head firmly before A’Mei could even respond.
“Are you scared of school? But school helps you learn skills. If you have skills, you can earn money. And you want to protect Mommy, right? Aren’t you a little hero?” Qin Ran said.
Rou Rou’s resistance wavered at that reasoning. Her expression changed.
“I’ll go to school!” She finally nodded.
“Good girl! Here, a few more gold coins as a reward!” Qin Ran cheered and handed over more fifty-cent coins.
“Rou Rou!” Fu Ma called out. Rou Rou turned and ran to her like a waddling penguin, with her dimples showing.
“Go play with Mommy. “I’ll check on dinner,” Fu Ma said, as she hurriedly took Rou Rou inside, eager to separate her from Qin Ran.
*****
Even though Wen Qingyun was inside the room, she could hear Qin Ran’s voice coming from outside—low, soft, slightly husky, and incredibly gentle.
It left her feeling stunned for a moment.
“Mommy…” Rou Rou’s voice brought her back. She turned to see her daughter smiling with her adorable dimples, running into her arms.
Rou Rou was genuinely happy—happier than usual.
Wen Qingyun reached out and hugged her.
Seeing this, Fu Ma felt reassured and went off to check on dinner.
Qin Ran returned to her room for a mental break. There had been so much going on lately, and her brain felt fried.
Back in that other world, she’d racked her brains every day just to stay alive. Who would’ve thought that after finally coming back, she’d still be doing the same?
Massaging her temple, Qin Ran closed her eyes for a moment. Then she pulled out her phone, only for a call to pop up—“Assistant Wang.”
He’d left quite a few missed calls. The calls were likely related to company matters.
The Wenshi Group specialized in biopharmaceuticals, with a major research institute in the capital and many manufacturing plants around the country.
Qin Ran had never managed a company before. Five years ago, she was just a college student who hadn’t even graduated. She didn’t think she had the ability now either.
The original Qin Ran had promoted Assistant Wang—he was “her” person. As for the old man’s (Wen Zhenheng) assistant team, anyone who wasn’t loyal to the transmigrated Qin Ran had long been dismissed.
She decided not to answer. She hadn’t fully merged with the original Qin Ran’s memories yet and didn’t know what to say anyway. It was better for her to wait until she was more informed.
After the call ended, she scrolled through her phone for a bit before A’Mei came to call her for dinner.
Wen Qingyun and Rou Rou ate in their room while Qin Ran eat alone in the dining room.
She didn’t mind the peace.
After dinner, she went to the study, turned on the computer, and started sorting through the things she remembered. She looked up news and information about Wenshi Group and the changes in this world.
Time flew. Her eyes felt strained, and just as she was about to take a shower and rest, she heard something and looked up—only to see Wen Qingyun at the door.
She was wearing beige long-sleeved pajamas with her long hair laid loose. She looked down, fumbling for something, her body unsteady while gripping the doorknob to support herself.
“Looking for this?” Qin Ran walked over and held up the folding knife she’d picked up earlier.
Wen Qingyun froze. She looked up; her expression was a mix of shock and embarrassment, like a secret had been exposed.
For some reason, Qin Ran thought Wen Qingyun looked a little like Rou Rou just now—eyes full of meaning.
“This little knife is convenient, yeah. If you really cut someone’s throat with it, they might actually die. Surely you’re not that stupid? Even if you succeed, do you think you can dodge criminal charges? What about civil compensation? You might face imprisonment or even placement in a mental health facility. What about Rou Rou then?” Qin Ran said, dangling the knife.
Wen Qingyun said nothing. Her eyes turned cold and sharp.
“Here. Don’t lose it again.” Qin Ran sighed and handed it over.
Wen Qingyun took it, turned away without a word, and stumbled back towards her room.
Seeing this, Qin Ran made a mental note to keep a one-meter distance from her in the future. Treasure your life—stay far away from a crazy beauty. Maybe she should move out altogether. That would be safer.
Once Wen Qingyun returned to her room, Qin Ran rubbed her sore neck, turned off the study light, and went back to her own room.
It had been a long, exhausting day.
The next morning, Qin Ran got up at six and worked out in the villa’s gym. Alpha bodies had stronger physical capabilities, and while the past Qin Ran didn’t work out much, her figure had remained fit.
Qin Ran had always loved to exercise. Even in the other world, she stayed disciplined. She would feel strange if she didn’t work out every day.
She changed and took a shower before going out to breakfast. Not long after, Wen Qingyun and Rou Rou came down, neatly dressed.
Wen Qingyun was elegant and aloof—looking cold and untouchable.
On the other hand, Little Rou Rou had changed into a new superhero outfit; her short hair was tied into two little sprouts—looking absolutely adorable.
“We’ll drop Rou Rou off at school first, then head to the therapy center. I’ll go to work after that,” Qin Ran said.
“No need. Don’t let us delay your work. Xiao Zhang is back—he’ll drive us. You can take the other car,” Fu Ma said politely.
“Uh…” Qin Ran didn’t reply and simply watched them leave while calling for another driver.
Once Wen Qingyun was in the car, she appeared visibly tense, as if she were trying to suppress something.
“Don’t be afraid, Qingyun. It’s okay. I’m here,” Fu Ma reassured her, thinking she was just nervous about going out.
“Mommy, don’t be scared. I’ll protect you!” Rou Rou said.
Wen Qingyun smiled and nodded at her.
She wasn’t feeling well—but she didn’t want to disappoint Fu Ma. She had to try for Rou Rou’s sake.
After dropping Rou Rou off at kindergarten, they headed straight to the therapy center.
The reserved therapy room was clean and simple. With white walls, a sofa, a table, a screen, a keyboard, and a voice modulator for speaking to the therapist behind the wall. The therapist is hidden, but not the pheromones.
“Are you okay, Qingyun?” Fu Ma asked quietly, seeing she looked pale.
“I’m fine,” Wen Qingyun signed.
Fu Ma gave her shoulder a pat and left the room.
The moment she was gone, Wen Qingyun’s expression changed drastically.
She had been holding back the discomfort all the way, but now that she was alone, it worsened. Her glands began to heat up and ache—her pheromones were leaking out uncontrollably.
She pressed her hand over her nape and tried to breathe steadily.
Why was this happening?
She frowned. The room setup made her uneasy, but why would it trigger a gland response?
“Hello, I’m your scheduled pheromone therapist. It’s a pleasure to serve you…” a gentle voice said.
The sound startled her. Her control snapped, and her pheromones surged like a flood.
“What are you doing, miss? Please stop releasing pheromones!” the therapist called from behind the wall.
But it was no use. The sweet scent of her omega pheromones flooded the room.
Even the A-class alpha therapist behind the wall flushed and began breathing heavily—his rut was triggered on the spot.
