After Being Bitten By Top-Tier O, Flop A Went Viral - Chapter 8
8: Can’t Bear to Part
Seeing Qin Que fall, Yan Qing’s first reaction was to rush forward and catch her.
Although the ladder wasn’t particularly high, falling straight onto the ground was no joke.
The situation was urgent, and she didn’t have time to consider whether she could actually catch an alpha who was half a head taller than her, plus the added force of the fall.
Thud!
Qin Que tumbled into a soft, fragrant embrace amidst the dizziness.
She heard the woman let out a muffled groan and, startled, instinctively shielded the other’s head with one hand while bracing herself against the ground with the other.
Though she couldn’t avoid knocking the other person down, she at least managed to stop the momentum and prevent herself from fully crashing on top of them.
Ignoring the sharp pain in her forearm, Qin Que stared blankly at the person pinned beneath her.
Yan Qing was wearing the same blue-and-white school uniform as her, but unlike Qin Que, she hadn’t zipped it up. Beneath it was a fitted black T-shirt that accentuated her slender waist and full curves.
Perhaps to match the theme of the shoot, the woman wasn’t wearing any makeup, but her features were stunning enough on their own. Without the usual accentuating lines, she looked even more youthful and radiant, losing some of her usual aloofness.
The morning sun streamed through the classroom windows, casting a shimmering golden light over Yan Qing’s chestnut-brown hair, which was splayed across the floor.
In this dull, dirty, and chaotic classroom, the woman beneath her was the only breathtaking sight.
In those widened indigo-blue eyes, Qin Que saw her own panicked face.
At such close proximity, Yan Qing’s wine-like scent flooded her senses, making her heartbeat accelerate wildly. It felt like being submerged in warm water, with a comfortable tingling sensation spreading throughout her body.
She tensed her muscles, lips trembling, and it took her over ten seconds to stammer out three words: “S-s-s-s-sorry.”
Yan Qing had also regained her composure by now. The alpha’s black hair, tied into a ponytail, hung down and brushed against her face, tickling slightly.
The woman, who looked excessively young, was blushing furiously, her dark eyes filled with guilt.
Her own pheromones seeped from the other’s body, mixed with a faint, milky scent.
It was a rather peculiar feeling.
Under normal circumstances, Yan Qing would probably have defused the awkwardness with a few teasing remarks.
But today, she suddenly felt reluctant.
Reluctant to tease this startled alpha who still carried her mark and was now drowning in guilt.
So she simply reached up and gently touched Qin Que’s arm—the one that had braced against the ground—and said softly, “Be careful.”
Qin Que’s arm went weak, nearly giving way, and she stammered, “O-okay.”
Just then, a loud bang came from the doorway, accompanied by Yan Yuzhen’s exclamation: “Wow!”
She had just returned with a basin of water when she witnessed this shocking scene, momentarily forgetting she was even holding the basin.
Startled by the noise, Qin Que finally remembered the most important thing.
Shouldn’t she get off Yan Qing first?
She scrambled up in a flash, then reached out to help Yan Qing up.
Yan Qing, however, remained composed, smiling faintly as she took Qin Que’s hand.
The woman’s hand was a size smaller than hers, with more delicate bones.
Her heart began to race again—she seemed unusually sensitive to Yan Qing’s touch.
Was it because of the mark, or was it guilt from those strange dreams?
Yan Qing leisurely brushed the dust off her clothes before turning to Yan Yuzhen with a smile. “Xiao Yu, long time no see.”
Recognizing her face, Yan Yuzhen’s already wide eyes grew even rounder. After a long pause, she gasped, “Sister Yan!”
She rushed forward and enveloped Yan Qing in a bear hug, nearly knocking her off balance.
Careful!
Qin Que instinctively moved to steady Yan Qing but froze mid-reach.
Would that be inappropriate?
While she was still hesitating, Yan Qing had already steadied herself and was patting Yan Yuzhen’s head with a laugh. “Alright, there’ll be plenty of time for hugs later. I need to go clean up now.”
At the same time, Pei Shu—who had seemingly been hiding somewhere—suddenly appeared and solemnly apologized to Qin Que, Yan Qing, and the audience. She explained that the production team hadn’t properly checked the safety of the equipment beforehand, putting the two guests and the viewers in danger.
Qin Que was about to say it was fine when Yan Qing interjected with a faint smile, “It was indeed very dangerous. You’ll need to be more careful in the future.”
Pei Shu shrank back, quickly clasping her hands together behind the camera in a silent plea.
I’m sorry, sis. I hurt your little alpha. Please stop smiling like that—it’s terrifying.
Qin Que: “…”
So they knew each other.
Then again, she had nearly hurt Yan Qing when she fell, so it made sense for the other to be upset.
In the end, she never got to say “it’s fine.”
Yan Qing went to shower and change, while Qin Que was taken back to the control room. The show’s doctor examined her arms and knees and confirmed there were no serious injuries—just a bottle of medicated wine to apply herself later.
Meanwhile, the live audience had completely lost their minds.
Comment 1: Yan Qing got tackled on a variety show? Am I dreaming?
Comment 2: Oh my god, oh my god. This is literally Wu Zetian now.
Comment 3: Is this surrealism? I just slapped myself in the face, and now I’m watching the stream with my hand on my cheek, grinning like an idiot.
Comment 4: Is Qingqing okay? That looked scary! The production team is so careless!
Comment 5: Chill, everyone. From what I saw, Qin Que braced herself when she fell and even cushioned Yan Qing’s head with her hand. If anyone’s hurt, it’s Qin Que—that knee hit looked painful.
Comment 6: As much as I dislike Qingqing being wasted on this, Qin Que didn’t actually do anything wrong.
Comment 7: Ducks behind a shield. Doesn’t anyone else think this is kinda… shippable?
Comment 8: Seriously, the atmosphere was electric just now. If Yan Yuzhen hadn’t shown up, I swear they were about to kiss.
Comment 9: Yan Yuzhen: You take one turn, I take one turn. Instant balance.
Outside the show, Wu Feng—already on high alert—immediately mobilized all available media resources to steer public opinion in Qin Que’s favor.
She had anticipated that whoever was paired with Qin Que would be highly popular, but she never imagined it would be Yan Qing. Her voice trembled as she made calls.
This was no joke. While “infamy is still fame” held some truth, being paired with an A-list actress like Yan Qing—whose popularity and public recognition were at their peak—was risky. The massive gap in their fame meant that the slightest misstep could turn “infamy” into outright disaster.
They had to stabilize Yan Qing’s fans’ emotions first. If they thought Qin Que was trying to ride Yan Qing’s coattails, the backlash could drown her in an instant.
Just as she was scrambling to manage the fallout, a staff member on the other end of the line exclaimed excitedly, “Sister Feng! Qin Que is trending!”
Already?
Wu Feng’s heart sank. She hurriedly checked, afraid Qin Que’s name would be followed by “freeloader.”
But after reading the trending topics, Wu Feng set down her phone with a dazed expression.
Things seemed to be unfolding… differently than she’d expected.
