9: Why does it feel like teasing a child?
Classic Scenes of Qin Que and Yan Qing
The most-liked post under this trending hashtag was a screenshot from Destined—the moment Qin Que knocked Yan Qing over. In the shot, Qin Que reaches out to brace herself against the floor, while Yan Qing extends both hands as if trying to steady Qin Que.
The timing of the screenshot was perfect. Both women wore expressions of unmistakable surprise, their hands reaching toward each other as if about to embrace.
The classroom setting, their school uniforms, the sunlight streaming through the window, and their strikingly compatible beauty all made the scene incredibly romantic—like a cover shot straight out of a youth drama.
And the public’s eyes were sharp.
The vast majority of comments gushed about how dreamy the moment was, with even many of Yan Qing’s fans joining in. The voices of a few extreme solo stans were drowned out, unable to stir up any waves for the time being.
What was going on?
As a seasoned agent, Wu Feng refused to believe that such a stroke of luck could just fall into their laps.
If Qin Que’s appearance on Destined could still be chalked up to coincidence, there was no way her pairing with Yan Qing—without backlash—could be explained away so easily.
There was a fundamental difference between a pie falling from the sky and a golden pie falling from the sky.
Someone had gotten ahead of her, controlling the narrative and even promoting the two as a couple in the process.
After much deliberation, Wu Feng concluded that the only party with both the motive and the capability to do so was Yan Qing’s team.
But… why?
Frowning, she stared at the image of Qin Que on the screen.
This girl was definitely hiding something from her—something big.
The person on the other end of the call was still asking what they should do. Wu Feng sighed and snapped, “What can we do? Since a heavyweight’s already stepped in, there’s no need for us to interfere. Stand down—don’t make things messy.”
…
By the time Qin Que and Yan Qing returned to the classroom one after the other, the remaining two guests had also arrived.
“I’ll move the desks. Why are you, a little girl, being so stubborn?” The tall and broad-shouldered Dai Yuchen frowned, visibly displeased as he glared at Jin Shuo, who was gripping the other end of the desk.
Jin Shuo, who carried an air of cool indifference toward everyone except Yan Yuzhen, neither spoke nor let go.
“Yuchen, just let it go…” The slender and soft-spoken Nie Sijun tried to mediate.
Yan Yuzhen, meanwhile, added fuel to the fire. “I had no idea moving a desk could be such a big deal. It’s not like she can’t handle it herself.”
As the four of them teetered on the edge of an argument, Qin Que—still struggling to find the right words to intervene—heard Yan Qing’s light, amused laughter behind her.
“Let people do what they want. The show’s just started—it’s too early to start fighting and trending on hot search, don’t you think?”
Her words made both sides of the argument suddenly feel a little childish. Jin Shuo silently released the desk, while Dai Yuchen took a step back, forcing a gentlemanly smile as he turned to Yan Qing.
“You’re absolutely right, Miss Yan. I was being too rigid.”
Yan Yuzhen rolled her eyes and stuck out her tongue at Dai Yuchen’s retreating back.
Qin Que barely suppressed a laugh.
Dai Yuchen, meanwhile, completely ignored her existence, striding straight up to Yan Qing with an outstretched hand. “Miss Yan, long time no see.”
Yan Qing smiled, sidestepped him, and instead took Nie Sijun’s hand. “It’s not easy getting to see you, is it?”
Dai Yuchen’s hand hung awkwardly in the air before he finally retracted it.
Nie Sijun looked pleasantly surprised—clearly not expecting Yan Qing to greet her first—and pouted playfully. “How could that be?”
Qin Que could only marvel at the undercurrents of tension swirling through the tiny classroom. Thankfully, no one paid her any attention.
The audience felt the same way.
Comment 1: I feel like a whole war just happened in those three minutes. Shivering in fear.
Comment 2: My expression matches Qin Que’s exactly—utterly bewildered but fascinated.
Comment 3: What’s up with Dai Yuchen? Before Yan Qing arrived, he was acting all high-and-mighty toward those two girls, not even bothering to speak properly. The second Yan Qing shows up, he’s suddenly playing the gentleman?
Comment 4: Don’t start drama where there isn’t any! That’s just Yuchen’s personality, okay? He was trying to take on the heavy work—who knew people wouldn’t appreciate it?
Comment 5: Oh please, moving desks isn’t any heavier than cleaning windows. Personally, I’d rather do it myself than have someone mansplain at me.
Comment 6: Same. And when someone clearly refuses, just shut up already. If he wants to play CEO, he can do it at home. No one’s putting up with that attitude here.
Comment 7: Current dynamics: Yan Yuzhen is aggressively chasing Jin Shuo, both of them clash with Dai Yuchen, Nie Sijun is the peacekeeper with zero presence, Yan Qing gets along with everyone but seems to dislike Dai Yuchen, and Qin Que… Qin Que = me = an innocent bystander eating popcorn.
Comment 8: LOL, Qin Que: torn between choices, decides to just vibe.
Comment 9: But she’s the ultimate winner—she’s paired with Yan Qing.
Comment 10: AHHHHH, don’t remind me! Jealousy is turning me into a monster.
With Yan Qing’s mediation, the group stopped arguing and began cleaning the classroom. Jin Shuo continued arranging the desks while Yan Yuzhen chattered away beside her, giving directions. Surprisingly, Jin Shuo didn’t seem annoyed, patiently adjusting the desks according to Yan Yuzhen’s instructions.
Dai Yuchen and Nie Sijun went to clean the windows. At first, Dai Yuchen held the bucket while Nie Sijun wiped, but within minutes, he started criticizing her for not doing it well enough. Unwilling to do it himself, he stood there frowning and nitpicking until Nie Sijun didn’t even dare to wipe anymore.
Qin Que glanced at the lightbulb that still needed replacing and decided to finish her task first.
But the moment she stepped onto the new ladder, a delicate, pale hand rested against its side.
She looked down into Yan Qing’s smiling eyes.
“What are you looking at me for? Go on up—I’ll hold it steady for you.”
At this close distance, Qin Que could smell Yan Qing’s pheromones again, sending her heart into chaos.
She shook her head, trying to dispel the inappropriate thoughts and images flooding her mind, and mumbled, “It’s fine, this ladder’s really stable.”
The woman’s red lips pursed slightly, her expression wounded. “So… you don’t want my help?”
“N-no!” Qin Que hurriedly denied, shaking her head so hard it nearly spun. She just felt it was too much to have Yan Qing holding a ladder for her.
Before she could explain, she heard Yan Qing’s soft laughter.
The woman looked at her with amused exasperation, not a trace of the earlier pitiful expression left. She gave Qin Que’s waist a light pat. “Alright, I’m just teasing. Go on up!”
A tingling sensation shot up from her waist, making Qin Que’s heart race. Not daring to say another word, she quickly climbed up before her face could turn completely red.
Only after replacing the lightbulb did she grumble inwardly:
Why does it feel like she’s teasing a kid?
