After Being Forced to Kiss My Superior (GL) - Chapter 25
This was the first time Yan Weiwei had ever been this close to Ji Jinyan.
Before today, she had only seen her online, and even then, she had thought Ji Jinyan looked almost unreal. Now that she saw her up close, she was even more amazed by how beautiful she really was.
And what surprised her more was that Ji Jinyan had no arrogance at all. She was approachable and had a very warm personality.
“President Ji, have you eaten?” Yan Weiwei asked cheerfully, her earlier awkwardness already forgotten as she sat on the sofa and chatted casually with her. “Wanqiu talks about you all the time.”
Yan Weiwei had always been good at becoming friendly with people quickly. Li Wanqiu gave a helpless smile and, remembering that the air outside had felt a bit chilly earlier, went to make a cup of hot coffee for her.
She handed one to Ji Jinyan as well, but before she could sit back down, Yan Weiwei spoke again.
“Wanqiu and I are going on a short trip to the nearby city later. Would you like to come with us?”
Li Wanqiu was caught off guard.
When did the conversation get to this point?
“I don’t think so,” she said as she turned to look at Ji Jinyan. Not seeing an immediate reply, she assumed Ji Jinyan was not interested and stepped in to answer for her. “It’s rare to get a few days off. She probably already has her own plans.”
“Really?” Yan Weiwei blinked and turned toward Ji Jinyan. “Is that true, President Ji?”
Ji Jinyan smiled. “Actually, I wouldn’t mind going.”
She glanced at Li Wanqiu as she spoke, her tone gentle. “I don’t really have any other plans.”
Li Wanqiu said nothing.
“Great!” Yan Weiwei clapped her hands in delight.
Trips like this were always better with more people. She had already reached out to Song Yu and Qiao Qiao, but both of them had made plans to spend the holiday with their significant others. Group trips just did not compare to a romantic weekend for two.
Yan Weiwei had been disappointed by that. She reached out to a few others too, but everyone seemed to be busy, and no one else could make it.
So having Ji Jinyan join them made her incredibly happy.
Just as they were chatting, Yan Weiwei’s phone rang. She glanced at the screen, said a quick word to the other two, and stepped toward the window to take the call.
As she passed by Li Wanqiu, she gave her a playful nudge and whispered, “Wanqiu, don’t waste this chance.”
What chance?
“Go on, get out of here,” Li Wanqiu sighed softly. She glanced at Ji Jinyan, then slowly sat down across from her.
She assumed Ji Jinyan was just being polite and felt a bit guilty. “You really didn’t have to come just because you didn’t want to disappoint Weiwei,” she said gently. “You’ve been working so hard. You should take time to rest.”
Ji Jinyan looked at her thoughtfully for a moment, then slowly shook her head. “No, if I didn’t want to go, I would have said so.”
“A trip is also a way for me to relax,” she said as her eyes moved across Li Wanqiu’s face. “Unless… you don’t want me to go?”
“No!” Li Wanqiu quickly shook her head, worried that she had misunderstood. “That’s not what I meant.”
“Then that’s good to hear.” Ji Jinyan smiled, the light in her eyes warm and soft like sunshine. She looked like she had stepped right out of a painting.
Li Wanqiu lowered her gaze, momentarily stunned by that smile. She did not speak for a long time.
Finally, after a brief silence, she quietly murmured, “Alright then.”
Yan Weiwei had already planned everything. They were going to spend two days and one night in the nearby city.
Li Wanqiu had packed the night before, so she only needed to double-check a few things. Once she was ready, the three of them left the apartment and headed to Ji Jinyan’s home together.
This was Li Wanqiu’s first time visiting and also the first time seeing where Ji Jinyan lived. It gave her a full view of the neighborhood.
It was clear Ji Jinyan preferred peace and quiet. Her home was located outside the city in a private villa. The surrounding greenery and the interior design of the house were both stunning.
As soon as they got out of the car, Yan Weiwei nervously tugged on Li Wanqiu’s sleeve. “She’s even richer than I imagined.”
Li Wanqiu could not help but laugh.
“I’ll be quick,” Ji Jinyan said with a smile as she welcomed them into the living room. “Just give me a few minutes to grab my things.”
Li Wanqiu nodded and sat down quietly on the sofa while she waited.
Her eyes wandered around the room. There were some interesting little decorations that caught her attention, and she could not help but look at them a bit longer.
Then her gaze fell on a photo on the TV stand.
It was a family portrait, probably taken years ago. Ji Jinyan was still a child in the photo, but her features were already delicate. She had been a beautiful girl even then.
Everyone in the picture was smiling, except for her. She stood with her hands in her pockets, looking cool and expressionless.
But if you looked closely, you could see that her face told a different story. There was a faint pink hue at the corners of her eyes and the tip of her nose.
It looked like she had been crying.
Li Wanqiu found it a little funny. Her lips curved into a smile just as Ji Jinyan came out of the room.
She had changed out of her previous clothes and was now wearing a soft-colored dress.
The light blue shade was as clear as the sky, fresh and lovely. It suited her skin tone perfectly, bringing out both her figure and a soft elegance.
Yan Weiwei blinked in surprise and said, “No wonder you’re President Ji. You look amazing.”
“So do you,” Ji Jinyan replied with a smile. She stepped forward and handed her a jar of candies. The packaging was elegant, and the candies inside were brightly colored, shining like tiny jewels. “Would you like one?”
“Thank you,” Yan Weiwei said as she picked out two pieces.
Li Wanqiu also reached out, but just before her fingers touched the jar, Ji Jinyan extended her other hand. Resting in her palm were three pale pink candies.
Li Wanqiu paused, gave up on the jar, and carefully took the ones from Ji Jinyan’s hand instead.
She looked up. At the same time, the two of them said it together.
“Strawberry flavor.”
The nearby city was not far. Driving was more convenient than taking a train.
They packed their suitcases into the trunk. A few extra bags were placed in the back seat. After organizing everything, there was only one space left.
So, Li Wanqiu had no choice but to sit in the front passenger seat.
“If you get tired, I can drive,” Li Wanqiu said, glancing at Ji Jinyan beside her.
“It’s alright. I’ll drive,” Ji Jinyan replied calmly. “I didn’t drink much last night.”
She smiled and looked over. “But you… if you’re feeling sleepy, why don’t you rest a little longer?”
They had left together in the morning. Ji Jinyan had gotten up earlier than she had, and probably had not slept much at all. If Li Wanqiu was already tired, Ji Jinyan must have been even more exhausted.
Li Wanqiu shook her head. “It’s okay,” she whispered after a short pause. “I can keep you company and talk to you.”
“Alright,” Ji Jinyan answered with a soft smile, then started the car.
The newly opened destination in the nearby city was a large marine park. It had water play zones, live shows, and exhibition halls, all full of interesting things to see and do.
After parking the car, the three of them bought their tickets and went inside. They first explored the aquarium area with all kinds of fish, then moved on to Area B to look at the exhibits.
Even after walking around for a while, Yan Weiwei was still thinking about one particular fish.
“There was one that was so beautiful,” she said, still a little amazed. “I took several pictures of it.”
“I didn’t notice that one,” Li Wanqiu said as she looked through the photos. “I only saw the one next to it.”
She paused, then added with a grin, “It didn’t look very smart.”
“Really?” Yan Weiwei leaned in, curious. “Did you get a picture? Show me.”
“Sure,” Li Wanqiu nodded and opened her photo gallery. She started scrolling, but instead of finding the photo of the fish, her attention was drawn to something else.
At the time, she had tried to take a picture of a little white fish, but it had moved too quickly for her camera to catch. She had followed it across the tank, but no matter how she tried, she could not get a clear shot.
But she had accidentally taken a picture of Ji Jinyan.
The lighting inside the aquarium was a soft blue. It gently surrounded Ji Jinyan, wrapping her in a calm glow. She stood quietly in front of the glass, watching the fish. Light reflected off her fair skin like rippling water, casting faint patterns across her cheeks.
Even a random picture of her looked stunning.
Li Wanqiu stared at the photo, slightly lost in thought. She probably would have stayed that way if Yan Weiwei hadn’t poked her arm.
“Wanqiu, President Ji, look over there!”
Her voice was filled with excitement and surprise. Both Li Wanqiu and Ji Jinyan looked up and followed the direction of her pointing finger. Not far away, there were several digital drawing panels and a large screen filled with animated fish.
The fish on the screen moved just like real ones. Visitors could draw their own fish on the smaller panels, and once they clicked confirm, their drawings would instantly appear on the large screen, swimming freely among the others.
“There’s a free space over there,” Yan Weiwei said with a grin. “You’re good at drawing, Wanqiu. Go leave something.”
She knew her well. Li Wanqiu nodded, honestly a little tempted.
“Do you want to draw something too?” she asked Ji Jinyan as they approached the steps.
“I’ll just watch,” Ji Jinyan replied with a smile.
“Okay,” Li Wanqiu said, not insisting. She lowered her head and carefully climbed the steps, picked up the pen, and began drawing the little white fish she had not been able to capture earlier.
Her drawing was lifelike, and once it appeared on the screen, it looked even more real as it began to swim.
Feeling proud, Li Wanqiu looked up to admire her work. Just as she was about to step down, a group of kids rushed forward and blocked the stairs, running in all directions.
Yan Weiwei frowned. “These kids are out of control.”
“Wanqiu, just jump down,” she teased. “It’s only a few steps. President Ji and I will catch you.”
Li Wanqiu laughed, amused and a little speechless. “That would look ridiculous. Besides—”
Before she could finish, a young boy, maybe seven or eight years old, jumped down just like that. Before he leaped, he shouted, “Catch me, big sister!”
“Got it,” the girl he was talking to replied, holding out her arms.
Li Wanqiu was silent.
She looked down again and saw a playful smile forming at the corners of Ji Jinyan’s mouth. Ji Jinyan didn’t say anything, but Li Wanqiu could already guess what she was thinking.
She could almost hear her say it now: “Little Wanqiu.”
Li Wanqiu stood still for a few seconds, then turned back toward the screen. She picked up the pen again and typed something on it.
After finishing, she turned around and pointed to the screen, showing Ji Jinyan the words, she had just written.
Troublemaker.
Ji Jinyan looked at the screen and laughed softly. A warm smile lit up her face.
Then she heard Li Wanqiu speak again. Her voice was soft and teasing, filled with amusement.
“Ji Jinyan, this is you.”
