After Being Targeted By A Sweet Girl With Big Eyes - Chapter 10
Chapter 10: Staying In
Jiang Ruyi wasn’t fully awake yet, but she vaguely sensed Fu Tian nearby. She mumbled the question as she rolled over.
“Your blanket fell down. I was debating whether or not to pick it up for you,” Fu Tian answered slowly from behind her.
“Mhm. Thanks.”
The temperature difference in the room condensed into droplets, which then fell one after another.
Fu Tian saw Jiang Ruyi starting to reach for her phone. She stood up and placed a glass of lukewarm water on the coffee table in front of her. “It’s 2 PM now. It rained last night, and it looks like it’s still drizzling outside. I’ll drive you once the rain stops. I’m ordering takeout. What do you want?”
Jiang Ruyi stretched out her arms for a big, lazy yawn. The quilt was once again kicked into a mess, sliding down to her waist and exposing a small patch of skin.
Fu Tian turned her head away, her eyes shifting uncomfortably.
“Anything. I’ll eat what you eat,” she said, but then immediately asked Fu Tian, “What are you eating?”
“I kind of want Korean food,” Fu Tian replied. She had just woken up, and her mind was blank. It took her a moment to think.
“Ah, now you’ve said it, I want it too! Spicy beef soup, no rice. I’ll order a separate bibimbap and some stir-fried rice cakes and fish cakes. I was going to recommend a place near my house, what was it called… forget it, I’ll order from here.”
Talking about food woke her right up. “Hey, but I also want barbecue and fried chicken. Fu Tian, can you eat all that?”
“Order it!”
“OK. Oh, I almost forgot drinks. What do you want?”
“Anything. I have alcohol at home, too. Should we mix something ourselves?”
“No, my brain’s foggy from sleeping in so late. I’m definitely not drinking.”
“Alright.”
After ordering the takeout, the two sat back down on the sofa, each on their own phone.
Fu Tian asked, “How long will it take?”
“Half an hour.”
“Okay, I’m going to go wash up first.”
Fu Tian finished her hygiene routine and saw that Jiang Ruyi was lying in an even more comfortable and relaxed position, showing no sign of moving. Unable to stand it, she urged her to go wash up. Then she went back to her room to change into loungewear. She poked her head out of the room. “I grabbed a set of my loungewear randomly for you. What do you want to wear when we go out later?”
Jiang Ruyi had just finished washing her face, eyes closed. The word “Anything” was about to slip out, but she remembered Fu Tian’s jarring dragon fruit dress from yesterday. She closed her mouth, quickly finished her skincare routine, and darted into Fu Tian’s walk-in closet. A quick glance confirmed it: Okay, not a lot of pink. She had been half-expecting Fu Tian to be one of those girls with an explosion of princess-like sweetness. Then, a question suddenly occurred to her: “Fu Tian, is that your real name?”
“It is. Surprised? It’s my legal name. You can call me Tiantian (Sweetie) if you want.”
Jiang Ruyi chuckled at Fu Tian’s antics. “Alright, Fu Tiantian.”
It was the first time someone hadn’t called her by her full name. Fu Tian was surprised and pleased, taking a few seconds to process it before getting back to business. “What do you want to wear?”
What could she wear? Just a simple white T-shirt and shorts.
Fu Tian was disappointed to see her choosing such simple items. “Aw, why are you choosing something so plain? These are all beautiful clothes! I thought you had great fashion sense and would really like them…”
“I feel a bit awkward…”
Although she thought Fu Tian’s dragon fruit color from yesterday was bad, she couldn’t completely dismiss Fu Tian’s fashion sense based on just one outfit. A quick scan of the closet told Jiang Ruyi that Fu Tian definitely had her own style.
“What’s there to be awkward about? I haven’t worn many of these clothes, or I’ve only worn them once. It’s rare to find someone whose height and figure are similar to mine. Just pick whatever you like! If you wear them well, I’ll be happy to look at you.” Fu Tian pulled out a green dress. “I saw you were wearing a very nice outfit yesterday. Do you like green? How about this dress?”
Jiang Ruyi usually wore black, white, or gray for media appearances, giving her a commanding presence. But her two outfits from yesterday and the day before had really impressed Fu Tian.
That’s just how Jiang Ruyi was—the more you got to know her, the more pleasant surprises you found.
People often couldn’t fully know someone from social media platforms, nor could a person completely showcase themselves there.
Jiang Ruyi didn’t have the heart to say she wore green yesterday because the representative color of Sunset Pact was orange, and she simply wanted to annoy them. It ended up annoying exactly zero people, but since she bought the outfit, it meant she appreciated that style.
A woman’s style shouldn’t be limited, especially someone as wealthy and carefree as Jiang Ruyi.
So, Jiang Ruyi couldn’t say she wasn’t tempted by Fu Tian’s closet. Sweet style? Who was she? She was Jiang Ruyi! She could effortlessly pull it off.
At first, the two were normally coordinating their outfits for going out. However, at some point, the process went completely off the rails. By the time the delivery driver knocked on the door, the two had changed into Hanfu (traditional Han clothing) and taken countless photos.
Jiang Ruyi and Fu Tian, an unlikely pair: one wore a jade-green round-collar robe, giving off the air of a wandering martial artist; the other wore a bright red, one-piece qixiong Hanfu, radiating the demeanor of a sheltered, well-behaved girl from a noble family.
The two, with their hair messy and looking completely out of place, rushed to answer the door and collect the takeout.
“Please enjoy your meal.”
“Okay, thank you.”
“Quick, quick, quick! Change your clothes, it’s time to eat!” Jiang Ruyi was truly hungry after playing around for so long. She urgently hurried Fu Tian.
Jiang Ruyi was the first to change and hang up her clothes. She ran to close the wide-open door to Fu Tian’s bedroom, turned on the air purifier, and then started unwrapping the takeout.
“Mmm~ I can smell how good it is before I even open it,” Jiang Ruyi said while opening the containers, rushing Fu Tian. “Hurry up! Hurry up! I’m so hungry, so hungry.” She wanted Fu Tian to emerge the second she finished opening the last container; she couldn’t wait a second longer.
“Ahhh, coming! Wait!” Fu Tian was half-kneeling, ready to sit down, when she suddenly remembered something and ran back to her bedroom, returning with a tablet. “We have to watch a show while we eat! What do you want to watch? I just finished one and don’t know what to watch next.”
This was truly irresistible. No one could refuse this. Jiang Ruyi put down her raised chopsticks and picked up her phone to find something to watch. “Let’s watch a movie or a documentary.”
“Sounds good. I have no objections.”
“How about Fried Green Tomatoes? I’ve seen some people recommending it lately, and it has a high rating of 8.8.”
Fu Tian looked at Jiang Ruyi regretfully. “I just watched it recently. Sorry, I was too proactive.”
“Ah, that’s a shame. You look for something you want to watch, too.” Jiang Ruyi found another one. “How about the Italian film The Art of Joy?”
Without waiting for Fu Tian’s answer, Jiang Ruyi vetoed her own suggestion. “Ah, no, that won’t work. You… let’s forget that one. I’ll watch that alone at home. Let’s watch a documentary. How about Queen of the Beasts? It’s 48 minutes per episode. What do you think?”
“I can do that. Which app is it on? I have memberships everywhere.”
“It’s on Tencent, but if you have it on Bilibili, go there. I love watching the barrages of scrolling comments.”
“I have it.”
“That’s great!”
“The wildest places on our pl…”
Jiang Ruyi, chewing on a piece of wrapped barbecue, said, “Excuse me, can you switch it to the Mandarin dub?”
“Sure.” Fu Tian was obliging and switched it to the Chinese dub.
“…And now, the future leader is rising.”
“Comfortable,” Jiang Ruyi sighed contentedly.
Fu Tian asked, “Was that sigh from the food being good, or the Chinese dub being comfortable?”
“Comfortable. Both are comfortable.” Jiang Ruyi lowered the AC temperature by two degrees. She asked, “How is it? Isn’t this place super delicious? If I wasn’t afraid of undoing my gym progress, I’d seriously eat this every day! Long live savory food!”
“Mhm, mhm.” Fu Tian gave two thumbs up in agreement.
After that, no one spoke. The eyes of the two newly free women were solely fixed on the food, with no fear of gaining weight. The only sounds were the chewing under the documentary and the fizzing of soda.
Ah, life is beautiful~
Jiang Ruyi and Fu Tian ate until they were practically in a carb coma, then snuggled on the sofa, continuing to watch the tablet.
Jiang Ruyi suddenly realized something, looking up at the reflection of both of them on the TV screen. She asked Fu Tian, “Can’t your TV be used?”
“It can.”
“Then let’s cast it to the TV! It’s summer, and it’s so hot with two people crammed over one tablet.”
“I’m so used to living alone, I forgot all about it.”
She really had forgotten, but having two heads close together was also genuinely cozy. They feel like they’ve known each other for ages. I really hope Jiang Ruyi doesn’t leave so soon, Fu Tian thought.
Jiang Ruyi was truly lazy. Since Fu Tian didn’t urge her to leave, she happily kept lounging, and the documentary continued, episode after episode. Fu Tian casually queued up another documentary, and Jiang Ruyi was perfectly content to keep relaxing.
But some things must come to an end. It was already seven or eight in the evening. The food in Jiang Ruyi’s stomach was mostly digested and starting a new round of rumbling. She finally suggested leaving on her own accord.
Fu Tian said, “I’ll drive you.”
“Thanks. It’s okay if you don’t, but it’s better if you do.”
“I’m hungry anyway. Let’s eat first. The place you recommended for lunch was delicious. I’ll take you to my favorite restaurant tonight.”
“Sounds good.”
The two quickly chose outfits from the closet, changed in a flash, and headed out the door.
Fu Tian’s clothes rarely contained black. Jiang Ruyi ultimately chose a blue gradient halter top with lace and white casual shorts. Fu Tian, on the other hand, was pink on top and green on the bottom, looking like a cut-open guava—fresh and natural.
The more Jiang Ruyi looked, the more she found Fu Tian playful and adorable.
Cute girl. Fu Tian is a naturally adorable girl.
Jiang Ruyi reflected on herself: You can’t judge a book by its cover. You can’t judge a book by its cover. That’s elementary school knowledge, right? Why haven’t I learned my lesson?
Jiang Ruyi hadn’t expected that just a few days ago, she disliked this person because of a poster and had so many disputes with her. Yet, based on their interaction today, they were actually very compatible. Just on the topic of food, what kind of bad person could eat so well with her?
Fu Tian drove. Jiang Ruyi didn’t want to talk and distract her, so she contacted the moving company people on her phone.
Fu Tian, meanwhile, stole countless glances at Jiang Ruyi, the sound of reluctance and unwillingness echoing in her heart.
What should I do? What should I do? Will I see her again after I drive her home this time?
I don’t want to not see her. I don’t want to not see her.
They had only known each other for such a short time. If only she could keep Jiang Ruyi at her house forever.
So, Fu Tian asked, “Do you… want to start a band with me?”
