After Being Targeted By A Sweet Girl With Big Eyes - Chapter 6
Chapter 6: Adorable
“Hello, Miss. It must be very hot outside. Please have some water.”
Jiang Ruyi took a taxi straight to the jewelry store. She took a sip of the water and, seeing the salesperson positioned, wasted no time. “This one.”
“This is a diamond-studded design, a recently stocked item. Do you have any other styles you might be interested in? I can recommend some for you.”
Before the salesperson finished, Jiang Ruyi continued walking forward. “This one, this, this, this, this, this, and this one, that one, that, that, that. I’ll take them all.”
The staff didn’t have time to introduce anything and quickly took the jewelry out from behind the counter, one by one. Jiang Ruyi picked out the good-looking pieces, regardless of series or style.
The message was from Shi Yuyan. She had said: Ruyi, let’s meet tonight.
Fireworks immediately went off in Jiang Ruyi’s mind. Sure enough, crying and begging for reconciliation works! When she saw the message, she instantly forgot everything else. Her mind was filled with the beautiful life she would have after reconciling with her “Sister,” without a single thought that this might be a breakup dinner.
Since Sister wanted to see her, it must be because she had made her angry before. If she angered someone, she naturally had to be properly apologetic.
But Jiang Ruyi had one strange habit: while others gifted their girlfriends perfume, bags, and makeup, what did she give? Gold. Gold!
Jiang Ruyi felt that her personal style didn’t match those designer luxury bags, and she couldn’t understand them anyway, so she chose to give her girlfriends gold.
Of course, that doesn’t mean she thinks she matches gold.
But gold is so great! It looks beautiful at home, and if they ever broke up, the gold market is always good. She considered herself incredibly thoughtful.
“Okay, Miss. Is there anything missing, in your opinion?”
Jiang Ruyi glanced carelessly. “Nope, that’s everything.”
She was busy replying to Fu Tian’s message. At this hour, Fu Tian must have finished rehearsal, realized she ran off, and was coming to hold her accountable.
And she was right.
After Fu Tian finished the first half of the rehearsal, the staff told her Jiang Ruyi had left. Fu Tian was immediately incredulous. She didn’t think Jiang Ruyi was the type to give up halfway, especially since she still had leverage over her. It didn’t make sense.
After inquiring carefully about the reason from the staff, it made even less sense. With Jiang Ruyi’s relentless mouth, how could she possibly lose an argument? But then she remembered the pitiful photo and the soft words Jiang Ruyi had sent last night. Fu Tian thought, Maybe Jiang Ruyi is just a paper tiger, intimidating on the surface, but actually quite simple and fragile.
So, she tentatively sent a text asking: Are you coming back?
Jiang Ruyi replied casually: Like I would run away. Just wait, I’ll definitely be back to do your makeup.
Fu Tian…
She seems fine, not like anything major happened.
Fu Tian: Okay, come back soon.
Before leaving the jewelry store, Jiang Ruyi also went to the nearby perfume counter and had the sales associate recommend a fragrance based on her current look. Jiang Ruyi usually preferred woody scents, but she was particularly satisfied with the floral scent recommended this time. The light scent of fresh grass reminded her of the free and happy times of her childhood spent herding cattle on the ranch.
When Jiang Ruyi returned, carrying large bags and a faint scent, to do Fu Tian’s makeup, Fu Tian leaned close to her neck and sniffed. “Where did you pick up all that perfume smell?”
Jiang Ruyi firmly held the other woman’s face. “Don’t move!” Then she patted her face firmly—a little act of public revenge that felt satisfying.
She inwardly chuckled a few times before saying, “What kind of tone is that? I bought it, of course. Oh, if I didn’t buy it, would this perfume just magically appear in my hand? Is my hand a specialty counter, or something? How ridiculous.”
Then, in a good mood, she asked, “Doesn’t it smell great? Doesn’t it match my outfit today?”
Fu Tian thought, I thought she had…
But it turned out the person happily ran to the store and bought all this stuff for herself. Fu Tian couldn’t help but find Jiang Ruyi simple and adorable. Her tone softened. “It does.”
“You like it? I’ll spray it one last time before I leave and then give it to you.”
She’s so generous! Besides, when she bought it, she also felt the perfume suited Fu Tian’s style.
“Spray it one last time? Who are you going to see tonight? I told you I’d cover dinner too!” Fu Tian glared up at Jiang Ruyi, her eyes wide.
“Don’t say you covered it! I only ate your lunch. Dinner should’ve been on you guys anyway. Whether I’m there or not is no big deal.”
“Then are you eating or not?”
“Do you live in the Pacific Ocean? So nosy! Why do you care if I eat or not? We’ll see. Fine, I know your eyes are big, natural, and not surgically enhanced, and you keep staring! I hate your eyes the most, and you’re still looking!”
“Hmph!” Fu Tian retracted her eyes, and her mouth started to pout again.
Jiang Ruyi: “Hey, move again, and I’m warning you, I’ve barely done makeup for anyone else. If the result is bad, don’t blame me. This is your last combined stage, not mine.”
Fu Tian meekly held still. Watching Jiang Ruyi concentrating on her face, she seized the moment while Jiang Ruyi was patting on powder. “Your eyelashes and eyeliner today look really good. Are you going to do the same style for me?”
“Of course not.”
Sunset Pact. Clearly, their band color was orange. The others mostly went for black-orange or orange-blue styles, but Fu Tian was head-to-toe bright orange. Fine, Jiang Ruyi had to admit again, Fu Tian is very pale, and this outfit actually suits the makeup she had on today. But for stage effect, she needed to be a little harsher.
“Wow, your eyeshadow blending technique is really something else!” Sun Yanli suddenly chimed in from the side. “Could you help me do mine too?”
Sun Yanli felt her eye makeup was a bit simple, but she was afraid Jiang Ruyi was used to heavy makeup and would apply too much, making it hard to fix later.
Before Jiang Ruyi could speak, Fu Tian refused for her. “No. She’s my exclusive makeup artist today.”
“Turn your head back.” Then Jiang Ruyi nodded to Sun Yanli. “Of course, I can! Just pick the eyeshadow color you like, and I’ll touch it up later.”
Then she continued to lecture Fu Tian. “What do you mean, ‘no’? I’m already here! Doing yours is the same as doing hers. Only doing yours is a waste of my time spent hanging around here this afternoon. Fu Tian, don’t be so selfish. This is your last time as bandmates. Be nicer to people.”
“Exactly, exactly,” Sun Yanli echoed from the side.
Fu Tian…
Does taking a step back lead to vast open seas? No, it leads to a bottomless abyss.
So, Fu Tian got angry and loudly declared, “I won’t! I coerced her to come here. Why should she do hers? You can only do mine today! Only mine!”
“Don’t move!” Jiang Ruyi nudged her with her shin, and Fu Tian immediately went quiet.
Sun Yanli, curious, leaned in and asked, “Coerced? What did she coerce you with? Fu Tiantian, you actually threatened someone! People’s intentions are truly hard to guess!”
While she was yelling, the door to the makeup room opened. Jiang Ruyi nonchalantly looked up and, seeing Fan Ling, her face instantly lit up like a flower. “Ling! Over here, over here! I’m here!”
To avoid disturbing Jiang Ruyi’s work on Fu Tian, Fan Ling quietly sat down to the side and played on her phone. Fans had already started entering the venue, and their loud chatter was clearly audible backstage.
“Done. See if there’s anything you’re not satisfied with,” Jiang Ruyi said. Then she collapsed into Fan Ling’s arms. “Doing makeup for others is exhausting. I think I’m getting carpal tunnel. I’m never being a lesbian again.”
Fu Tian, who was checking her makeup, and Sun Yanli, who was waiting in line for a touch-up: !!!
Fan Ling chuckled softly. “Really?”
“Haha, of course it’s fake!”
The two of them leaned on each other’s shoulders, playing on their phones, looking incredibly intimate.
Sun Yanli whispered, “Could their 10 CP actually be real?”
Fu Tian used her finger to lift her lashes, finding the sight of Jiang Ruyi and Fan Ling so close to be an eyesore. She deliberately asked loudly, “Sun Sun, help me look. How does my makeup look today? Do you think the previous Korean style with separated lashes suits me better, or these clustered lashes?”
“If you ask me, I definitely like this style! You look so spirited today, power!”
However, to avoid completely negating Fu Tian’s previous makeup, she added, “But your previous makeup was also very nice. Everyone has their own style, and everyone has their own preference. Just talking about lashes, some people like the ‘baby curl,’ while others prefer the ‘sunflower’ style. There are all kinds, right? It’s all up to personal preference. They’re both good, both good!”
Fu Tian was not satisfied with this answer and insisted on a definite, singular answer. “Then do you think I am more suited to this style or the previous one?”
“Of course, the one I did for you,” Jiang Ruyi chimed in upon hearing the question, a sneer on her face. “Do you even need to ask? Your previous makeup was awful, I don’t even want to talk about it. Look now—how pretty and elegant! Stop pretending to be cute. It’ll make you stupid.”
“When was I pretending to be cute?”
Smoke filled the air, and a fight was about to break out.
Fan Ling intervened just in time. “Alright, alright. She just likes that style! You’re lecturing her now.” Then she looked at Fu Tian. “Don’t mind her. Your bandmate is right. Everyone has their own style. You can’t change yourself because of one person’s opinion. Everyone has an opinion, so whose are you going to listen to?”
“Hmph, she asked me to do her makeup.” Jiang Ruyi felt they were about to go on stage and shouldn’t cause more trouble. She avoided looking at Fu Tian, asking Fan Ling to relay the message: “Tell her that if she’s not satisfied, there’s still time to change it. I don’t care.”
Fu Tian reached over Fan Ling, grabbed Jiang Ruyi’s arm, and pulled her to look at her. “Did I say I don’t like it? I like it! I like it!”
Jiang Ruyi was stunned by her outburst, and her tone softened. “You… if you like it, then like it. Why are you talking so fiercely?”
“Also, I’m not pretending to be cute.”
“Oh.” Who is acting like a little orange-flavored cupcake right now? And still says she’s not pretending to be cute?
“I said, I am not pretending to be cute.”
“I know, I know. You were born this cute. Is that enough? Aren’t you annoying?”
Jiang Ruyi was truly out of patience and simply went along with what Fu Tian said.
“Hmph!”
Seeing the two of them passionately reconcile just like that, Sun Yanli quickly said, “Reconciled? If you’re reconciled, you should fix my makeup now! Teacher Jiang, I really love your makeup. Just go wild on my face!”
