After Breaking Up, I Shared an Apartment With My Best Friend and Her Boyfriend (H) - 69
Chapter 69: Moving Out
She quietly glanced at Chen Qiao with the corner of her eye. “What do you think of my decision? Is it the right thing to do?”
Chen Qiao listened as she brushed back her hair, then looked at Wen Sui. “It’s pretty good. Since you’ve thought about it all night, it must be what your heart truly wants.”
Wen Sui nodded upon hearing that. “Mm-hmm, so…”
She did not finish her sentence. Her eyes sized up Chen Qiao vaguely as she spoke softly, testing the waters.
“So, Qiaoqiao, maybe me living here will affect things between you and Xu Yanqi later on.”
After she said that, Chen Qiao kept her gaze fixed on Wen Sui. She showed no emotion. “And then?”
Wen Sui lowered her eyes and said very unnaturally, “Then, I need you… to move out.”
At that moment, Wen Sui avoided her gaze. She blinked her lashes lightly and opened her mouth to Chen Qiao.
“But I will definitely make Xu Yanqi refund you all the rent you’ve paid, including the property fee you gave today.”
She asked Chen Qiao, “What do you think?”
Chen Qiao did not shift her sight away. She kept staring at Wen Sui. Her eyes were like a mirror that easily reflected all of Wen Sui’s thoughts and needs right in front of her.
Chen Qiao stayed silent. Her not speaking at that moment made Wen Sui quite awkward. Until Wen Sui cleared her throat with a hitch, and just as she was about to speak, Chen Qiao opened her mouth.
“Does Xu Yanqi agree?”
When she heard Chen Qiao ask that, Wen Sui knew Chen Qiao was a decent person. She probably agreed, but she seemed worried that Xu Yanqi might not consent to refunding the rent to her.
Joy rose on Wen Sui’s face. She quickly spoke to Chen Qiao. “Xu Yanqi doesn’t know about this yet. I’ll explain it clearly to him when he gets back. He will definitely agree. He listens to me.”
When Chen Qiao did not reply, Wen Sui’s mind had already imagined her answer. She should say, “Okay, as long as it doesn’t affect your relationship, I’m fine with it.”
After all, Chen Qiao had always handled things that way. She was always so understanding.
But after several seconds passed, Chen Qiao raised her eyes and suddenly said to her, “But I don’t agree, Wen Sui.”
When those words fell, Wen Sui felt completely dazed for a moment.
“If it’s just because you want to stabilize your relationship with Xu Yanqi, and I have to go along with what you say and move my things back and forth, then why did I move in here in the first place?”
Chen Qiao’s eyes fixed on her, as if they could see through all the secrets in her heart. Every sentence she said was soft-voiced, yet it felt like sharp arrows shooting straight at her one by one.
“Back then, I asked you if me moving in would affect you and Xu Yanqi. You firmly told me it wouldn’t. You even said that me moving in would be perfect to help you keep an eye on Xu Yanqi, so if any woman got close to him or if he brought any woman home, I could let you know right away.”
“I even confirmed with you then if you wouldn’t come back. I asked if it would be inconvenient for me to live here. You told me you would come back about once a month at most, and it absolutely wouldn’t be inconvenient. You said when you two did that kind of thing, you would go to a hotel.”
At that moment, Wen Sui was being watched closely by Chen Qiao. She did not dare to lift her head, as if those eyes fixed on her were deliberately tearing open a dark curtain.
“Wen Sui, from beginning to end, it was you who resolutely suggested to me that I move in, not me giving you advice that I needed to save money by splitting the rent. As my best friend, couldn’t you help me out by letting me sublet with your boyfriend Xu Yanqi?”
Chen Qiao’s every word made it so Wen Sui did not dare to refute. She felt instantly crushed. Chen Qiao’s every sentence was telling her that she had brought this on herself.
