Chapter 44: Wet, Wipe It Off
Wen Sui was good at giving people a way out. She quickly took off her high heels, put on the slippers, and sat on the chair Chen Qiao had just used. She stretched her legs casually toward Xu Yanqi.
“My heels are rubbing. I need a bandage.”
Wen Sui used a playful tone. Though tall and striking, she spoke in the sweetest voice and flashed a charming smile to win Xu Yanqi over.
Xu Yanqi raised his brows slightly. He looked at Wen Sui with deep eyes she couldn’t read, mixed with a fond helplessness toward her.
Then he stood up from the floor, walked to the living room TV cabinet, and grabbed the first-aid kit.
But at that moment, Wen Sui frowned. She suddenly stood up and shouted, “Oh, why is this chair wet?”
Right after she spoke, Chen Qiao, who was drinking water, choked. Hearing Wen Sui’s words, Xu Yanqi crouched in front of her, naturally opened the first-aid kit, and glanced at her.
“What’s the big deal? It’s wet. Just wipe it off.”
He took a tissue from the dining table, told Wen Sui to stand, and carefully wiped the chair clean.
Wen Sui stood nearby, looking down at the attentive man, her lips curling into a touched smile.
She reached down, gently tugged at the corner of Xu Yanqi’s shirt, and said in a sweet voice, “Xu Yanqi, stand up.”
Xu Yanqi looked puzzled. “What’s wrong?”
Wen Sui urged, “Just stand up!”
When Xu Yanqi stood, in a flash, Wen Sui playfully leaned into his arms, stood on her toes, and kissed him.
She didn’t care if anyone else was around when she kissed Xu Yanqi.
She just wanted to kiss him, so she did.
Over the past two years, Chen Qiao had grown used to it. This wasn’t the first time Wen Sui kissed Xu Yanqi in front of her. It wasn’t just that she didn’t avoid Chen Qiao—it was like she was claiming her territory.
Chen Qiao put the half-empty water bottle in the fridge, closed the door, and walked to her room in her bunny slippers.
At that moment, as Wen Sui kissed him, Xu Yanqi was caught off guard. His eyes happened to catch Chen Qiao leaving the living room, and he felt something indescribable.
Wen Sui closed her eyes, frowning. Seeing Xu Yanqi didn’t kiss her back, she quickly opened her eyes, wrapped her arms around him dependently, and flashed a look meant to please him.
“Don’t be mad at me, okay? I came back with so much effort.”
Her voice carried an irresistible charm.
Xu Yanqi felt a mix of emotions. He didn’t push Wen Sui away and let her hold him. “Why did you come back? Just to make up with me?”
Wen Sui pouted proudly. “Not at all.”
She shook her head, a playful smile on her lips. “The day after tomorrow is our two-year anniversary, Xu Yanqi. Did you forget?”
“I came back to spend our anniversary with you. For this, Wen Sui, the violinist, even turned down her highest-paying performance.”
Wen Sui lifted her sharp chin, her bright face glowing with confident pride, showing off her unique charm.
But for some reason, besides feeling frustrated that he forgot their two-year anniversary, Xu Yanqi seemed to pretend he couldn’t see the allure Wen Sui was displaying. He acted as if his vision blurred when he looked at her.
Soon it was evening. Chen Qiao got ready to go out. Xu Yanqi and Wen Sui were in their room.
While in her room, Chen Qiao heard Wen Sui ask Xu Yanqi to cook for her. Xu Yanqi didn’t want to go to the market, so he ordered takeout.
He planned to cook for Wen Sui once the ingredients arrived, but heavy rain poured outside, and the delivery was delayed for a long time.
Chen Qiao grabbed a raincoat and an umbrella from the balcony, ready to head out. But just then, Wen Sui and Xu Yanqi started arguing in their room.
“Where did this mark come from!?”
