After Cat A Saved the Wrong Female Lead - Chapter 11
Chapter 11: Carrying Her Back to the Room
That night, Tang Li worked overtime until late into the night, diligently grinding away at the company for several hours.
Even though she was annoyed, this was a hard-earned opportunity after all, one she had gotten through the interview. Tang Li didn’t want to give up so easily, not when things got difficult. She sat in front of her computer, proofreading and editing nonstop.
What she didn’t know was that Yu Qingshuang had also been looking for her.
Yu Qingshuang was a graduate of the performance department from Huada University, right next door to Cai University. She had gained some popularity right after debuting. After hearing that Tang Li was from Cai University and would be attending the event that day, she had accepted the invitation and dressed up carefully.
However, she went to the celebration venue and never saw Tang Li — only the heiress, Nan Jiuying, who was busy giving people the cold shoulder.
Later, she messaged Tang Li. It wasn’t until Tang Li finished working that Yu Qingshuang asked tentatively if she could treat her to a late-night meal. Tang Li, having barely eaten or drunk anything from afternoon to evening, was starving by the time she finished. So the two went to a 24-hour restaurant.
There weren’t many people out that late, and since Yu Qingshuang wasn’t a household name, the two didn’t bother getting a private room — they sat in the open area, which unfortunately led to them being spotted by someone snooping.
They weren’t being affectionate — just having a normal meal together — but a sense of unease had begun brewing in Qin Shiyang’s heart. She thought about how Tang Li hadn’t been in touch much these past few days. Was she really just busy? Or had her affections shifted to someone else — another Omega?
In this world, the primary genders are male and female, with ABO as secondary characteristics. Alphas couldn’t completely avoid Omegas in their social lives — Qin Shiyang knew that well. But seeing Tang Li with Yu Qingshuang, and the way Yu Qingshuang looked at her, made her — as a fellow Omega — feel something was off.
Qin Shiyang’s expression darkened slightly.
….
A little over a week after joining the company, Tang Li was sent on a business trip to City A. The client they’d landed this time was extremely picky — the kind who made impulsive decisions without warning — which drove the entire project team crazy.
Even her previously amicable supervisor had become demanding and overbearing, remotely barking orders and pressuring them to speed things up.
After just two days of this, Tang Li, who was normally lively and energetic, felt completely drained. She even dragged her feet as she walked. Work had finally begun to stabilize a bit today, so when her colleagues invited her to dinner, she politely declined and went back to the hotel.
She had just stepped onto the carpeted hallway and was about to open her door when a familiar, pleasant voice suddenly called out behind her.
Turning around, she saw a young woman in a snow-white long dress.
The Omega had long, silky hair cascading down her back in a relaxed, effortless style. She wasn’t wearing anything flashy — just a pair of delicate pearl earrings that swayed gently as she walked forward.
Qin Shiyang’s face was full of surprised joy at the reunion. The moment Tang Li saw her, she immediately straightened her posture, trying to make her back look as upright as possible. Instinctively, she looked around for a mirror.
Tang Li was a little flustered.
How could it be such a coincidence!?
What should she do? She’d been feeling irritable these past couple of days and had neglected her skincare. Every day, she just tied her hair in a plain ponytail and went to work dressed casually. Was she about to lose face in front of the female lead?
The Omega before her looked like a fairy walking out from a world of snowy frost — her smile gentle and warm like a spring breeze. The contrast of these two auras blended perfectly on her — graceful and elegant, effortlessly captivating.
Even under the hotel’s dim lighting, her fair skin and beautiful features stood out vividly.
As the woman drew closer, Tang Li could faintly smell her natural scent. Qin Shiyang wasn’t intentionally releasing her pheromones, but since the two had once shared intimacy and a temporary mark, it was like an invisible brand linking them. Not only do Omegas become sensitive to an Alpha’s scent after being marked — the same goes for Alphas.
Especially since Qin Shiyang’s pheromones weren’t the typical kind — hers were unique, like standing amidst a vast tea garden, fragrant but not overpowering, subtly intoxicating. The aroma of spring-picked misty green tea starts out with a bite of freshness but slowly reveals layers of complexity.
Tang Li had only caught a hint of her natural scent, yet her imagination had already spiraled. By the time she snapped out of it, the tips of her ears had turned red on their own. She quickly tried to control her expression, forcing a calm, composed look onto her face.
Her little movements didn’t go unnoticed — but against someone like Qin Shiyang, they were far too easy to read. The displeasure Qin Shiyang had felt earlier had already melted away at the sight of this reaction, replaced by a mischievous fondness buried somewhere deep in her heart, now sprouting again.
“Xiao Yu, what a coincidence.”
By the time Tang Li managed to awkwardly choke out a few words, Qin Shiyang was still smiling — but she hadn’t moved.
Tang Li glanced down and noticed something was off about her posture. She blurted out, “What’s wrong?”
“It’s nothing…”
Qin Shiyang was wearing hotel slippers, and she was already slightly shorter than Tang Li. Today, Tang Li was wearing heels, which made the height difference even more pronounced. When Qin Shiyang looked up at the Alpha, her gaze met Tang Li’s pair of clear, feline-like eyes.
Tang Li leaned in slightly, and Qin Shiyang heard her ask:
“Oh no, did you twist your ankle?”
To be fair, Qin Shiyang had always been quite good at acting. But somehow, in front of this person, her well-practiced skills always seemed to falter a bit — becoming cautious and shy.
Maybe it was because those cat-like eyes were just too clear, like polished glass — something about them made her feel exposed. Or maybe it was the embarrassment of playing weak in front of this younger girl. Qin Shiyang closed her eyes and gave a small nod.
And then — she felt herself being gently scooped into a warm embrace, carried up in Tang Li’s arms.
The girl’s figure was slender and didn’t look particularly athletic, but her strength was surprising. Her movements were steady and confident, not shaky in the slightest — as if she were carefully holding a piece of delicate porcelain. Qin Shiyang leaned into her — not against a broad chest, but one soft and firm, gentle yet secure.
Their rooms were on the same floor. Most of the rooms were booked by employees from their own company, and the rest had been reserved by another group doing team-building activities. Qin Shiyang’s room was farther down the hall, so Tang Li brought her into her own room instead.
The woman rested in her arms. Just as Tang Li was about to say something, she saw those slender fingers reach into the front pocket of her shirt and pull out the room card.
As those soft fingertips brushed against her skin through the fabric, Tang Li’s back instantly stiffened even more. Her breath caught for a split second.
With a soft beep, the door unlocked.
