After Cat A Saved the Wrong Female Lead - Chapter 16
Chapter 16: Cat Ears and Tail Exposed
When Tang Li left home, she was wearing a suppressant patch. But under the intense surge of her pheromones, the patch had long lost its effect. The gland beneath her thin skin itched unbearably, releasing a scent the patch could no longer contain.
Her Alpha’s susceptibility period had arrived — suddenly and without warning.
This was Tang Li’s first time going through an Alpha’s susceptibility period, and she hadn’t yet mastered the timing. On top of that, she’d been spinning like a top with work lately — sometimes barely finding time to scarf down a few bites of bread between tasks. Loss of appetite, headaches, brain fog — she had chalked it all up to stress.
Little did she know, her susceptibility period had already been gently knocking on the door for days.
Her head foggy and dazed, Tang Li had been slumped on the couch when Qin Shiyang opened the door. She tried to stand, only to nearly collapse — and Qin Shiyang instinctively caught her in her arms.
Unaware, the faint tea-like fragrance on Qin Shiyang’s body was as effective as a premium aphrodisiac, breaking through Tang Li’s weakened defenses and triggering her primal Alpha instincts.
Tang Li tried desperately to suppress the agitation inside her. She still remembered it was her birthday. Because of Qin Shiyang’s initiative, she’d squeezed in a lunch with Bai Xuan earlier that day and turned down all other evening invites just to honor this appointment.
She had hoped to sit down and enjoy a peaceful dinner, but her mind was burning, and the Omega’s scent was overwhelming — stirring desires she had no strength to resist.
Unseen by Tang Li, something was happening to her body: a tingling sensation on her scalp and tailbone gave way to fluffy protrusions. Two small, upright cat ears and a long, slender tail had appeared — fully exposed.
Qin Shiyang held the girl in her arms, feeling her weakly struggle, her strength clearly fading. Out of the corner of her eye, she suddenly spotted a furry tail — and her heart jolted.
The person in her arms had, at some point, seemingly grown a pair of very realistic cat ears and a tail. The ears matched Tang Li’s pale gold hair, albeit two shades darker. A soft breath across the fur made them twitch slightly. Her tea-brown eyes were heavy with longing. Her fair skin was flushed a light pink from holding back, and her expression was full of grievance — as if blaming the Omega for unintentionally seducing her and increasing her burden.
Outside, night had fully descended. The curtains closed naturally, leaving only a narrow sliver through which moonlight or city light seeped in — just enough for Qin Shiyang to clearly see Tang Li’s current appearance.
The light makeup made the girl’s features even more radiant. But when Qin Shiyang instinctively reached out and pinched those perky cat ears, the ylang-ylang scent in the air deepened. The Alpha’s aggression surged forth, unrestrained.
The fluffy tail instinctively coiled around Qin Shiyang’s slender waist, tightening like a band. Its tip playfully traced along her spine, sending a shiver like electricity down her back. Her legs weakened involuntarily.
Under the stimulation of the Alpha’s pheromones, Qin Shiyang’s mind began to go blank. Still, what remained of her rationality led her to first check the room for surveillance cameras. Finding none, she quickly switched the digital sign outside the private room to “Do Not Disturb.”
Then, sound and sensation began to blur.
…
The temporary marking only lasted a little over an hour, ending with the Alpha licking her lips, unsatisfied.
A pale, slender hand pressed a switch near the sofa. The air purifier hummed to life, circulating air to drive out the overwhelming mix of pheromones.
The leather sofa still held the warmth of their recent contact. The blend of ylang-ylang and tea-like scent felt like an invisible flood that had been poured into the air, saturating every corner of the room in an intoxicating, indescribable fragrance.
It was so dense that even the best purifier couldn’t clear it out immediately.
Tang Li heard a soft, muffled grunt.
The lights weren’t on, but by the faint light filtering in from outside, she could see the slightly annoyed and resentful expression on Qin Shiyang’s face. Tang Li’s tongue brushed against her teeth and caught on a small fang, drawing a sharp sting and the metallic tang of bl00d in her mouth — mingling with the pheromones.
Just moments ago, she had been full of energy. Now, she felt like a wilted eggplant, completely deflated.
A temporary marking usually doesn’t last long — unless the Alpha is inexperienced. All it takes is for the Alpha to bite the Omega’s neck gland, pierce it, and inject their pheromones — no need for extended foreplay or even sexual intercourse, unlike deep markings.
Though there were no cameras in the room, it was still a public place. The two had maintained enough self-restraint not to cross the line. Tang Li had simply — naturally — given Qin Shiyang another temporary mark.
However, due to her inexperience — and unlike the last time when the Omega had guided her — this time, the Alpha had entered her susceptibility period and wasn’t nearly as gentle.
She had bitten and broken Qin Shiyang’s gland.
Now fully conscious of what she’d done, Tang Li began to tremble.
What should she do?
Had she just offended the female lead?
Would it be too late to drop to her knees and beg for forgiveness?
Last time, Qin Shiyang had needed her, and they had both consented. But this time, the gland was bitten because of her. It had been entirely her own doing.
Over the time they’d spent together, Tang Li had come to realize that Qin Shiyang actually had a pretty good temper. It was just the tragic backstory of the original Tang Li that had left her with deep psychological shadows.
Right now, Qin Shiyang was silent — lost in thought.
Otherwise, she might’ve noticed how timid this “little Alpha” really was, and how much she seemed to have misunderstood her.
Qin Shiyang was thinking — but not about that.
After a while, she finally spoke:
“You are…”
“It’s a— a prop! I carry it around for fun!”
Before Qin Shiyang could finish her question, Tang Li cut her off, face flushed with embarrassment. Her mind raced: I can’t let her find out, I absolutely can’t!
If she were exposed — as a cat spirit, no less — it would go against all laws of science. She’d be captured and dissected for research without a second thought!
Tang Li was genuinely panicked. Her voice even sharpened slightly, her pupils contracting in the dark, body bristling with alert.
She hadn’t expected her susceptibility period to hit now — and with such force. Though she normally carried a suppressant injector, she hadn’t even thought of it during the chaos. Everything had happened by instinct — the marking, the bite.
It had been… a little rough.
At this point, all she could do was deny everything and stick to her story. But inside, her heart was thudding wildly. Her long lashes trembled with each blink, revealing her nervousness.
Qin Shiyang leaned in slightly, noticing how the little one was trembling.
She handed something to Tang Li — their fingers brushing, warm and shaking slightly.
Then the lights came on.
Tang Li, caught off guard, found herself staring straight at the Omega.
Qin Shiyang was handing her a cotton swab. Amid the chaos, her collar had been tugged out of place, exposing a swath of smooth, pale skin. As she turned slightly, there was nothing to shield the inflamed gland on her neck — where the Alpha’s bite had left a vivid, striking mark.
