After Cat A Saved the Wrong Female Lead - Chapter 50
Chapter 50: Without Moving
The heater broke.
Not completely—just enough to make the apartment cold in the mornings.
Tang Li didn’t complain.
She simply layered two sweaters, pulled her sleeves over her hands, and made breakfast like always.
Qin Shiyang noticed.
Didn’t say anything.
But later, when Tang Li was in the shower, she placed a new hot water bottle on her bed.
Left it there.
No note.
Just heat that would hold through the night.
….
That evening, Tang Li stood in the kitchen, watching the kettle boil.
Steam curled up, slow and quiet.
Qin Shiyang leaned on the counter nearby, arms crossed loosely.
Neither of them spoke.
The silence wasn’t heavy.
But it was different.
Denser.
More aware.
Finally, Qin Shiyang asked:
“Are you… waiting for something?”
Tang Li didn’t look at her.
She reached for the mugs.
“No.”
Then, after a pause—
“I think I’m just not ready to leave.”
—
Qin Shiyang let that sit between them.
Then said, almost carefully:
“What if I don’t want you to?”
Tang Li turned her head, slowly.
Her face unreadable.
“Then don’t ask me to go.”
Another silence.
Not cold.
Not cautious.
Just… holding something.
Then Qin Shiyang nodded once, barely visible.
“I won’t.”
….
Later, they sat side by side on the couch again.
Not speaking.
Not touching.
But something in the space between them had shifted.
A quiet understanding.
A decision, maybe.
Without moving.
Without declaring.
Just two people—
Choosing to remain.
Even when neither of them knew quite what that meant yet.
….
And sometimes—
That’s all it takes.
Not confession.
Not certainty.
Just the quiet act of staying.
