- After Clinging to a Big Shot, the Pitiful Omega Got Pregnant
- Chapter 13 - Rising by Virtue of One’s Child
The dream that the system showed Ji Xia only contained the parts related to him.
In the dream, after Ji Xia arrived in the capital, he was locked up by the scummy alphas. He had no idea what was happening in the outside world, nor did he know the fates of anyone else.
So, he didn’t know what connection Fu Su and Chen Chaofei had with Xu Ancheng, or what they were talking about.
Perhaps because Ji Xia had been staring for too long, his gaze too obvious, Chen Chaofei suddenly turned his head and looked over.
Ji Xia was caught off guard when their eyes met. His heart skipped, and he hurriedly looked away, flustered, quickly sitting down at a random spot. The waitress immediately came over and handed him a menu.
Ji Xia flipped through two pages absentmindedly, but his peripheral vision stayed on that side. When he realized Chen Chaofei was no longer looking at him, he let out a breath of relief and finally lowered his eyes to the menu.
Then his ears turned red.
Even the cheapest cup of coffee cost over two hundred!
Ji Xia’s original goal was already ruined the moment he bumped into Chen Chaofei. Chen was a very clever person—Ji Xia didn’t want him to guess his intentions and cause trouble.
Since the plan had failed, he was even more unwilling to spend money. He wanted to leave, but the smiling waitress stood waiting patiently beside him, making him too embarrassed to just walk away.
“Two cappuccinos, please.”
Butler Xu spoke in a gentle tone, and after ordering, he returned the menu to the waitress. Ji Xia, a bit uneasy, also handed his back.
Butler Xu said, “Young Master Ji, forgive me for being presumptuous. I saw you hesitating, so I ordered cappuccinos for you.”
Ji Xia, slightly embarrassed, lowered his voice. “Grandpa Xu, it’s fine. I just thought the coffee was too expensive.”
Butler Xu said, “Young Master is treating. You don’t need to worry about the price.”
Ji Xia: “Huh?”
The smile on Butler Xu’s face deepened, but he didn’t explain further. Instead, he asked, “You know Assistant Chen, don’t you?” Although phrased as a question, his tone was more like a statement.
Ji Xia had been about to ask why Fu Sir was paying for their coffee, but the butler’s question interrupted him. Forgetting what he wanted to ask, Ji Xia nodded and replied, “Yes. He was the one who brought me to the villa.”
Butler Xu raised his eyelids slightly, glancing at the three people chatting amiably across the room. A sharp gleam flickered in his eyes, gone as quickly as it came, before he resumed his kindly old-man demeanor.
He asked, “Do you know who instructed Assistant Chen to bring you to the villa? And why?”
Ji Xia thought back—Chen Chaofei had never told him the reason. He shook his head.
Butler Xu seemed unsurprised. “Chen Chaofei was following orders from Young Master’s stepfather. He was tasked with finding an Omega whose pheromone compatibility with Young Master was over 95%, to treat his susceptibility-phase disorder.”
Ji Xia: “So that’s why.”
What he thought to himself was: wow, Fu Sir’s stepfather is actually pretty nice.
Butler Xu, as though he could read minds, said, “Are you thinking that Young Master’s stepfather is kind, for caring so much?” He sneered softly. “If Young Master didn’t absolutely loathe Omegas, then yes, you might call him a good stepfather.”
Ji Xia pursed his lips. So Fu Sir also had a less-than-ideal family.
When the coffee arrived, Butler Xu waited until the waiter left before continuing. “Young Master holds power over the Fu Corporation. Outsiders all show him respect, but he can’t stop his stepfather from sending him Omegas, no matter how much he hates it.”
Ji Xia asked doubtfully, “Why not?”
Butler Xu: “Because of Young Master’s grandfather.”
Ji Xia frowned. “Grandpa and his stepfather are in it together? They’re ganging up to bully Fu Sir?”
Butler Xu shook his head. “Not quite. The old master simply wants Young Master to cure his pheromone disorder soon and hopes he’ll produce an heir early. The Fu family’s vast business empire needs a successor. But Young Master despises Omegas and refuses pheromone therapy. For certain reasons, he even told the old master clearly that he will never marry or have children. This led to conflict, so the old master tacitly allowed Mr. Jian to send Omegas.”
Ji Xia didn’t know how to respond. He could only say, “Oh.”
He didn’t really understand why Butler Xu was suddenly telling him all this. After all, it was Fu Sir’s family matter.
Butler Xu said, “If Young Master’s disorder could be cured, the old master would certainly give a handsome reward. And if a child were to be born, that child would not only inherit the Fu family, but also the entire Qiu family estate—truly born with a golden spoon.”
Ji Xia didn’t think at all about curing pheromone disorders. He only thought about not making Fu Sir unhappy and being thrown out of the villa.
What caught his attention was the latter half. His face lit up with envy. “Being born really is a skill, huh.”
Butler Xu: …
After a pause, he spelled it out more clearly. “As long as someone gives birth to Young Master’s child, no matter what that Omega’s status, they’ll rise in station by virtue of the child.”
Ji Xia blurted, “But Fu Sir doesn’t want to marry or have kids. In that case, how can a child even be born?”
Butler Xu: …
He took a sip of coffee and abruptly changed the subject. “Young Master Ji, do you like children?”
Ji Xia blinked at the sudden question, but nodded. “I do.”
Butler Xu nodded without further comment, sipping his coffee leisurely.
The topic ended as suddenly as it began. Ji Xia didn’t think much of it.
He took a sip himself, and the bitter taste spread across his mouth, making him frown. It was his first time drinking coffee, and he couldn’t understand why anyone would pay so much to suffer this bitterness.
But since money had been spent, he was determined not to waste it. No matter how bitter, he forced himself to drink it all.
By the time he managed to choke it down, Ji Xia felt awful. From the corner of his eye, he saw Xu Ancheng and the others stand up to leave. Quickly, he turned his back to the door.
Only when their figures disappeared out the café’s entrance did he wrinkle his nose, displeased that today’s mission had been wasted. “Grandpa Xu, today’s operation failed. Let’s go back.”
Butler Xu nodded and rose with him.
Just then, the door chimed again: “Welcome.”
Ji Xia had just turned when his body froze, face instantly darkening. Standing before them was Chen Chaofei, returning after leaving.
Chen hadn’t expected to bump into the countryside little Omega here. Ever since parting at the villa that night, he’d been thinking about him endlessly, itching with desire. But because of Fu Yuan, he hadn’t dared approach the villa. Now that fate put them together, how could he possibly miss the chance?
His eyes roved greedily over the little Omega. Compared to that night, he found him less alluring now. But at least he looked healthier—rounder, rosier, prettier. Clearly, he was being well cared for.
Smirking, he said, “Baby, did you miss your brother so much you came looking for me?”
Ji Xia was stunned by his shameless words and retorted, “No. Please move, we’re leaving.”
Chen wasn’t about to let go so easily. Though wary of Fu Yuan, he knew Mr. Jian wouldn’t want Fu Yuan keeping anyone by his side. If a child were born, Jian and Fu Su would get nothing.
Fearless, he stepped closer. “Playing hard to get again? Fine, brother will play along.”
As Chen approached, Ji Xia caught a whiff of something inky and foul. His glands throbbed painfully at the nape of his neck before he realized: that was Alpha pheromones.
He staggered back, trembling with anger, fists clenching. “Go away!”
Chen found his angry little Omega cute, rousing his sadistic impulses.
He released even more pheromones, trying to trigger the Omega’s heat and drag him off.
Feeling worse, Ji Xia kicked hard at Chen’s shin, but his Omega strength barely made an impact.
Chen smirked and reached to grab Ji Xia’s waist.
Sensing his intent, Ji Xia bared his teeth to resist.
But before he could, a tall, straight figure stepped in front of him. Butler Xu. Eyes narrowed, his kindly tone now sharp and cold: “Assistant Chen, mind yourself.”
Chen had been so focused on Ji Xia that he only now noticed Butler Xu. His face flickered with surprise, but he quickly hid it.
He didn’t move, only stared back with hostility.
Chen knew full well this butler wasn’t just any servant—he’d once followed Fu Yuan’s great-uncle to war, with a military rank not to be taken lightly. Don’t be fooled by his gentle look; in a real fight, Chen wouldn’t stand a chance.
What stunned him most was that Butler Xu was accompanying Ji Xia. Normally, this man never spared anyone else a glance outside his master.
Chen had to weigh the cost of pushing further.
After a tense pause, he stepped back and gave way. “Apologies, I was out of line.”
Butler Xu replied, “Assistant Chen, I advise you to drop those filthy thoughts—lest you end up with no way back.”
Then he shielded Ji Xia with his body, gesturing for him to leave.
Once outside, Ji Xia raised a thumb. “Grandpa Xu, you were so cool just now!”
Butler Xu: “You flatter me.”
The two returned to the villa on their little e-bike, their mission a failure.
After lunch, Ji Xia told Doctor Chen what had happened. The doctor said he would investigate and asked Ji Xia to wait for news. Ji Xia then went to the small kitchen to bake bread.
Lately, whenever he had free time, he baked for the villa staff. Everyone loved it, which boosted his confidence about someday running a stall.
Time flew, and evening came.
Ji Xia usually slept well—by ten he was drowsy, and once his head hit the pillow, he was out.
But tonight, he tossed and turned like a frying pancake until nearly midnight, wide awake.
Ji Xia had insomnia.
His neck glands still ached faintly.
He touched them—tender and a little swollen.
He tried to check in the mirror but couldn’t angle his head enough. Defeated, he lay back down.
Around one a.m., still awake, he got thirsty and drifted downstairs like a ghost. At the foot of the stairs, he saw Fu Sir sitting on the sofa, eyes closed in apparent rest.
Only one lamp lit the room, and Fu Yuan sat in the farthest shadowed corner.
Something about it… Ji Xia couldn’t put into words, only that it made his heart ache. He walked quickly over.
The Alpha opened his eyes and looked at him. “Why aren’t you asleep?”
Ji Xia said, “Strange, I just feel really energetic today. Can’t fall asleep.”
Fu Yuan: “Don’t drink coffee next time.”
“Huh?”
Only then did Ji Xia realize the culprit. And it had cost more than two hundred! Even though it wasn’t his money, he still felt the sting.
Fu Yuan stood to go upstairs.
On impulse, Ji Xia called out, “Fu Sir.”
Fu Yuan turned slightly, silent.
Ji Xia felt awkward. Why had he called him?
But under the Alpha’s sharp gaze, he hesitated, then forced himself to continue. “Could you do me a small favor?”
“…?”
“My glands hurt a little. Can you check what’s going on?”
That was the best excuse Ji Xia could come up with.
