After Clinging to a Big Shot, the Pitiful Omega Got Pregnant - Chapter 3
Jie xia sprang up from the ground. His still-weak body made his vision go dark, and it took a moment for him to recover.
He didn’t have time to think. He saw a door nearby and rushed in. Once inside, he realized it was a walk-in closet, filled with numerous clothes, expensive watches, and accessories.
The sound of footsteps was getting closer. Jie xia scanned the walk-in closet, quickly grabbed a large suitcase, placed it flat in a corner, and curled himself up inside.
When he was a child, his father, Cheng-guo Ji, would get drunk and start hitting people, so Jie xia often hid in the old suitcase his mother kept under the bed. The suitcase gave him a sense of security.
“Thump, thump, thump…”
The approaching footsteps were getting closer. Jie xia held his breath, listening carefully to the sounds coming from behind the door.
When Fu Yuan saw a pair of worn-out white sneakers at the entrance, he frowned slightly. He knew this was his stepfather’s way of putting on a show and sending him another Omega.
Alphas have extremely strong territorial instincts and are very repulsed by strangers intruding on their private space, especially top-tier Alphas. And his stepfather, knowing this and knowing that Fu Yuan detested Omegas, still persistently sent people to him. The reason was to curry favor with the old man and to disgust him at the same time.
His expression was stern, and his eyes were deep. He already felt a sense of disgust towards this Omega he hadn’t even met yet. He didn’t find the little O in the bedroom, nor was there any Omega pheromone scent in the air.
He looked around carefully and soon found clues on the carpet.
He followed the trail and pushed open the walk-in closet door. His gaze quickly fell on the very conspicuous large suitcase on the floor. At the edge of the suitcase, he saw a small white piece of clothing.
Fu Yuan was thirty years old and had been the head of the Fu family for eight years. He had seen countless Omegas who used every trick in the book to cling to him. The little O in front of him was playing so many games, which showed a deep-seated cunning.
A cold smile appeared on Fu Yuan’s lips as he stared down at the suitcase on the floor. “You have three seconds. Get out by yourself. Otherwise, I’ll throw the suitcase out the window.”
Jie xia was so scared he couldn’t even breathe, and his body started trembling.
He knew it; this Alpha was very fierce and would do exactly what he said.
“Outfit change countdown: 60 seconds, 59, 58…”
“3, 2…”
Obviously, Fu Yuan’s countdown would finish sooner. Jie xia had no way out and started sweating profusely. Just then, he had a sudden flash of inspiration for a way to stall for time.
He widened his eyes in the darkness and shouted loudly, “Wait, just a little longer. I’ll be ready soon. Please wait…”
Before Xia Ji could finish, he was rotated ninety degrees, and then he felt the sound of wheels sliding on the floor. He was horrified, realizing the Alpha was really going to throw him out.
“22, 21…”
Xia Ji felt his body lift into the air. He couldn’t wait any longer.
“9, 8…”
With a “whoosh,” Jie xia’s trembling hand pulled open the zipper of the suitcase. The lid, now unsupported, fell open. Jie xia lost his balance and tumbled down from mid-air, landing on the floor.
At the same time, a muffled “thump” came from outside the window, sounding especially abrupt in the quiet evening. If he had been one second later, he would have fallen out of the second-story window with the suitcase.
“0. Outfit change successful!”
Upon hearing the system’s prompt, Jie xia didn’t feel any sense of relief. He didn’t even have the energy to care about his bruised body because his attention was completely taken by the gaze fixed on him.
Jie xia looked up and met a pair of cold eyes. His little heart trembled, and a chill went down his spine. He was too scared to move.
The man in front of him was as intimidating as he was in his dream.
His features were sharp and aggressive. The way he looked at Jie xia was like a large wild beast looking at a small creature that had suddenly entered its territory—a condescending, contemptuous, and hateful look.
Jie xia swallowed hard and nervously rubbed his chest with a shaky hand, trying to soothe his overly frightened heart. He kept his head tilted up, forced a smile, and in a trembling voice, called out, “Mr. Fu.”
Fu Yuan looked down at him without moving or speaking.
The cool breeze of the summer night blew in through the open window, bringing a hint of chill.
But the sweat on Jie xia’s forehead was getting heavier. The situation was a little different from his dream; Mr. Fu didn’t grab his neck. He racked his brains, desperately trying to say something to break the silence and persuade Mr. Fu to let him stay.
He pursed his lips and said, “I… I’m very capable.”
He was still weak and had been startled, so his voice was soft, almost like a plea.
Fu Yuan’s eyes grew even colder. He asked, “How capable?”
Ji Xia didn’t know why Mr. Fu’s eyes showed even more disgust, but he couldn’t worry about that. He was just eager to sell himself.
“I’m very good at cleaning, cooking, and doing laundry. I can also help you mow the lawn and wash the car. I’m very good at climbing walls, so I can help you clean windows.”
Fu Yuan said nothing again.
Ji Xia became a little anxious and continued, “I… I make delicious cake.”
After he said it, his ears turned red, and his eyes darted away. He had only been a baker’s apprentice for five years and had never made a cake.
He just felt that Mr. Fu would prefer a beautiful cake to a simple, plain-looking bread…
Even though his master said his stuff was “dog food,” customers loved his bread. If he could make a cake, he would work hard to do it well.
Fu Yuan said in a cold voice, “I hate sweets the most.”
Ji Xia’s eyes widened. Because of the shock, the fear in his cat-like eyes lessened. He couldn’t understand why anyone would hate sweets.
But he didn’t dare say anything, just whispered, “Then… what does Mr. Fu like?”
Fu Yuan: “You want to know?”
Ji Xia felt a glimmer of hope. If he could know what Mr. Fu liked, he could please him and maybe secure a position by this powerful man’s side.
His small face was very serious as he nodded earnestly and solemnly, “Yes.”
Fu Yuan: “But I don’t want to tell you.”
Ji Xia’s heart sank. His face showed clear disappointment, and the light in his big eyes seemed to vanish, losing its vitality. He asked, “Then… what can Mr. Fu tell me?”
Fu Yuan: “Nothing.”
Ji Xia’s heart hit rock bottom, but he still tried his best to say, “I have a small appetite. I only eat two meals a day. It’s okay for me to sleep in the attic or a storage room. I can also work and earn my own money. As long as you let me live here, I can, I can…”
Ji Xia’s face twisted in pain, but he bit the bullet and offered his last bargaining chip. “I can give you half of the money I earn.”
Fu Yuan suddenly asked, “Why do you want to live here?”
Ji Xia lowered his head, wanting to say, “I have no home,” but changed it at the last minute to, “I have nowhere to go.”
Fu Yuan reached out and lifted Xia Ji’s chin. “Didn’t you pretend to be a kitten? Meow for me.”
Ji Xia didn’t understand what Fu Yuan meant. He hadn’t pretended to be a kitten. But he still obediently let out a “Meow~.”
Fu Yuan let out a light laugh. “I don’t keep useless people around me. You have two days to prove your worth to me. Otherwise, go back where you came from.”
Ji Xia’s eyes immediately lit up. He said excitedly, “Mr. Fu, I’m very useful. I will definitely prove it.”
Fu Yuan said, “There’s no storage room here. You’ll live in the attic.”
Ji Xia said, “Thank you, Mr. Fu.”
Just as Fu Yuan was about to turn, he heard a loud “grumble.” He stopped his feet and turned around again.
Ji Xia hadn’t expected his stomach to make that sound at that moment, and he turned as red as a tomato.
He hadn’t eaten anything since he woke up in the hospital. From the moment he saw Chen Chaofei, tension and fear had consumed all of his attention, and he hadn’t even realized he was hungry.
Now that the situation was settled and he had relaxed, the hunger had found him.
He was afraid that Fu Yuan would think he ate too much and change his mind, so he immediately shouted at the Alpha’s back, “I’m not hungry.”
Fu Yuan didn’t turn his head. “There are ingredients in the fridge. Make whatever you want.”
Ji Xia felt that Mr. Fu wasn’t so intimidating after all.
Ji Xia walked out of the bedroom one step behind. By the time he reached the door, Mr. Fu was no longer in sight.
He looked around. Instead of going downstairs to the kitchen, he went up to the attic first. He wanted to get settled before going downstairs to make some noodles.
But when he pushed open the attic door, Ji Xia was stunned.
The attic he had imagined was filled with junk, covered in dust, and a breeding ground for insects, cockroaches, and mice. The attic in front of him was spotless, exquisitely and luxuriously decorated with a sofa, a bathroom, a bookshelf, and various electronic products.
It was a luxury he couldn’t even dream of.
Ji Xia suddenly felt that his offer to sleep in the attic had been audacious and presumptuous.
He cautiously walked into the attic and looked around. He stopped in front of a full-length mirror and his eyes widened in surprise.
In the mirror, he looked pale and haggard. There was a red, swollen slap mark on his left cheek. He was wearing an ill-fitting pink outfit—a strapless top and shorts—with a pair of cat ears on his head and a collar around his neck. There was even a cat tail behind him.
The pink outfit was too big and hung loosely on his body.
He looked small and thin, pitiful, and a little ridiculous.
Ji Xia instantly understood. No wonder Mr. Fu agreed to give him two more days. Anyone would feel a little sympathy after seeing someone in such a miserable state.
As soon as he thought of the system, its cold, mechanical voice sounded.
“Congratulations, host. You have gained +2 favorability points with the big shot.”
“Due to a system malfunction that resulted in a failed outfit change, a compensation mechanism has been activated. The host can now use only two favorability points to get one chance to open the closet. Would you like to use it now?”
Ji Xia thought for a moment and asked, “Does ‘favorability points’ mean ‘like’? Does Mr. Fu like me a little now? If I use it, will the favorability points disappear?”
“Don’t worry, host. Only the system points will be consumed.”
Ji Xia pursed his lips and said, “Use it.”
Although he found the cat-ear outfit a bit strange, if the failed outfit change had such a good effect, wouldn’t a successful one mean he could stay for good?!
Ji Xia’s mind was buzzing with possibilities.
“Outfit change countdown: 15 minutes. Please wait.”
There was nothing to clean up in the attic, so Ji Xia took the opportunity to go downstairs to the kitchen to get some food and think about making a late-night snack for Mr. Fu to show his value.
Not far from the villa, hidden in the shadows of a sycamore tree, Chen Chaofei impatiently checked his watch. He grumbled to himself, “It’s been almost an hour. Why hasn’t that country O come out yet?!”
He waited for another fifteen minutes before he couldn’t stand it anymore and prepared to enter the villa to check the situation.
Chen Chaofei had been helping Mr. Jian search for a highly compatible Omega for Fu Yuan for five years, so he knew how much Fu Yuan hated Omegas.
In five years, over seventy Omegas, no matter how beautiful, had failed to stay in the villa. An incompetent country Omega would naturally not be able to stay either.
He probably fell down the stairs and passed out…
A smile played on his lips. That’s good, he thought. He could just quietly take him home.
