- After Clinging to a Big Shot, the Pitiful Omega Got Pregnant
- Chapter 48 - Slapped in the Face
Ji Xia scheduled the bakery’s grand opening for Sunday, three days away, hoping to capitalize on the weekend crowd. Mr. Fu (Fu Yuan) made an exception, allowing him to leave for the shop at seven in the morning to prepare.
When Ji Xia arrived on his scooter, the Omega store employee Mr. Fu had hired was already waiting at the door. Ji Xia had already added him on WeChat. He was a baby-faced youth, the same age as Ji Xia, named Zhang Feng.
Zhang Feng’s appearance was very approachable, with smiling eyes, and he looked perfectly suited for sales.
Ji Xia greeted him, took out the key, and unlocked the door.
Zhang Feng had prior experience working in a bakery, so Ji Xia didn’t need to teach him much; he skillfully began preparing for the opening, saving Ji Xia a lot of trouble and allowing him to focus on the back kitchen.
The shop opened at ten, and Ji Xia’s bread was almost ready.
When he took off his apron and came out, he noticed a long line of flower baskets displayed outside the door. Zhang Feng listed the senders to him: besides Dr. Chen, Xu Le, Grandma Qiu, and Little Grandpa, there were also Xu Ancheng, Zhao Kuo, Jiao Muxue…
Seeing the names of the “scumbag Alpha” exes almost scared Ji Xia to death.
He worried they would cause trouble after learning he had opened a shop, but then he thought that since it was Mr. Fu’s store, those people probably wouldn’t dare come. This reassured him somewhat.
Ji Xia’s stall was located nearby, so when he announced the opening with a special discount to his customer base, he received an immediate and enthusiastic response.
As soon as the doors opened at ten, loyal customers rushed in. Some brought colleagues, others friends, crowding the small, newly opened shop.
Ji Xia also put on the dedicated staff apron and busied himself at the cashier counter.
Around two in the afternoon, Xu Le brought his rich second-generation future husband to patronize the store. The rich second-generation, named Jiang Feng, wore gold-rimmed glasses and looked refined, but the way he looked at Ji Xia was greasy and damp.
Ji Xia had a sense of déjà vu, reminding him of Chen Chaofei, and he didn’t have a good impression of the man.
Yet, Jiang Feng kept leaning near Ji Xia, asking questions subtly. Ji Xia, naturally not realizing the man was trying to glean information, answered every question out of courtesy to Xu Le.
When Jiang Feng learned that the shop was owned by a partner and Ji Xia was merely the baker, a middle school graduate from the countryside, his interest in Ji Xia plummeted, and he turned his attention back to Xu Le.
Ji Xia felt something was off about this person but couldn’t quite pinpoint it.
The store was busy at the moment, so he didn’t dwell on it and went back to serving customers.
After helping to manage a wave of customers, Xu Le and his boyfriend finally left.
Before leaving, Xu Le told Ji Xia he would come to the shop to help whenever he had time. Ji Xia expressed his welcome.
When things quieted down, Ji Xia sat at the counter, calculating the day’s earnings.
Just then, the electronic “Welcome” sound rang out. Ji Xia looked up and met eyes with Zhao Kuo, who had just entered. Ji Xia’s heart skipped a beat.
Zhang Feng stepped forward, enthusiastically asking the customer what he wished to purchase.
Zhao Kuo didn’t even look at him, his gaze fixed solely on Ji Xia. Seeing him again, he found the Omega even more beautiful, his clean aura subtly radiating a compelling allure.
The Alpha’s genetic possessiveness made him instantly want to rush over, pick up the young Omega, and lock him away. But he couldn’t! He gritted his teeth in frustration, all he could do was stare at the Omega from a distance.
Ever since getting off the cruise ship, Fu Yuan had pressured Zhao Kuo’s father to repeatedly warn him not to provoke the Fu family. Now that Fu Yuan was back from his business trip, he was even more aggressive, suffocating the Zhao family.
Zhao Kuo’s father, assuming he had done something, confined him for a period before letting him out.
Zhao Kuo didn’t dare act impulsively now. Urged by the store clerk, he reluctantly pointed to a few kinds of bread and then rushed to the cashier to pay.
Ji Xia, however, reacted as if Zhao Kuo were the plague; as the Alpha approached the counter, Ji Xia quickly darted into the back kitchen and slammed the door shut, unwilling to even leave a glimpse of his back.
Zhao Kuo was utterly disheartened.
He sensed the Omega’s strong aversion to him, but besides the incident at the banquet, he didn’t think he had done anything too outrageous. Why was the Omega so repulsed? He was completely perplexed.
“Sir, that’s one hundred and nine yuan in total.”
Zhang Feng said with a beaming smile.
Zhao Kuo slammed his black card onto the table and said, “I want a membership!”
Zhang Feng’s expression remained unchanged, “Apologies, Mr. Zhao, you cannot apply for a membership at this store.”
Zhao Kuo was enraged: “I have plenty of money! I’ll top up 500,000!”
Hiding in the back kitchen with his ear pressed against the door, Ji Xia’s eyes widened slightly, and two small figures immediately began arguing in his mind. One argued that no matter how much money it was, it wasn’t acceptable. He was a scumbag Alpha, a scary one, and he must not be allowed to get a membership.
The other little person countered vehemently: how many loaves of bread would it take to earn 500,000? After expenses and profit sharing, he could get 200,000. That would help him quickly save enough ransom money.
Moreover, Mr. Fu would protect him; he had nothing to fear from a scumbag Alpha.
Just as Ji Xia was wavering, his small nose crinkling in indecision, Zhang Feng made the decision for him.
Zhang Feng’s voice was still smiling, but his tone was firm and brooked no refusal. He said, “Mr. Zhao, the amount you top up is irrelevant. You cannot apply for a membership at this store.”
Zhao Kuo was exasperated and about to explode, but he saw the clerk tilt his head, opening those habitually-smiling, narrowed eyes, which held a sharp, cold intensity. “Please pay, Mr. Zhao.”
As the eldest son of the Zhao family, Zhao Kuo was naturally familiar with such an imposing presence.
Only a highly professional Omega bodyguard could possess such an aura. He hadn’t expected Fu Yuan to watch over Ji Xia so closely, even employing a professional bodyguard.
Zhao Kuo knew he couldn’t push the issue further. He bit back his frustration, swallowing his anger.
He paid the bill in a huff and left sheepishly.
Once the person was gone, Ji Xia no longer had to agonize. He came out and asked Zhang Feng why he hadn’t allowed that man to get a membership card.
Zhang Feng replied, “Little Boss, I saw you run away so quickly, clearly disliking him, so I took the liberty of refusing. You’re not mad at me, are you?”
Ji Xia waved his hand, saying, “No, you handled it very well.”
Although 500,000 was indeed a large sum, avoiding ill-gotten gains would prevent trouble, so he didn’t dwell on it much.
Busy hours always passed quickly, and it was four o’clock in the afternoon. The opening event was generous, and most of the bread Ji Xia had made in the morning was sold out.
Zhang Feng walked up to the counter and said, “Little Boss, it’s four o’clock. You should get off work. I’ll take care of the rest.”
Ji Xia realized Mr. Fu must have given instructions. He nodded and said, “Then I’m leaving the shop to you, Xiao Zhang. Thanks for your hard work.” He began gathering his things to leave.
Just then, the glass door was pushed open, and the electronic voice chimed happily. “Welcome!”
Ji Xia and Zhang Feng turned around simultaneously.
Two people stood in the doorway: an Alpha with an arrogant demeanor and an Omega with a cool, detached aura. The Omega was holding the Alpha’s arm, their actions intimate.
However, the Alpha’s gaze was openly fixed on Ji Xia.
“Xia Xia,” Fu Su’s voice was soft, “Congratulations on the new shop opening.”
He let go of the Alpha’s arm, walked to the counter, pushed a gift box across to Ji Xia, and handed him a red invitation card.
“Ah Bai and I are getting married next month. This is our wedding candy and invitation. Xia Xia, please be my groomsman.”
Ji Xia hardened his expression, pushed the gift box back, and said coldly, “We are not that close.”
The incident at the old mansion had made Ji Xia see Fu Su’s true colours, and he didn’t want any further involvement with such a bad person.
A hint of mockery flickered in Fu Su’s smiling eyes, but he let out a slight sigh, showing a sad expression, and said, “I know. I’m getting married and having a baby, and you’re jealous. After all, my brother won’t marry you, nor will he let you have his baby. In a couple of years, when he has a new lover, you’ll have to pack up and leave. But, Xia Xia, I sincerely want you to be my groomsman.”
Ji Xia bit his lip and said, “I don’t need your concern. If you’re not buying bread, please leave.”
Fu Su acted as if he hadn’t heard, continuing, “But you’re not losing out, at least you got this shop. You’ll get a few million in a few years; someone of your status probably couldn’t earn that much in a lifetime.”
Ji Xia truly detested Fu Su. He was angry and repeated in a firm tone, “Please leave this place.”
Zhang Feng immediately stepped over, took the gift box, and handed it back, his voice containing a warning. “Sir, if you don’t leave now, don’t blame me for resorting to force.”
Fu Su glanced at Ji Xia’s flushed face, feeling satisfied. He finally got revenge for being outshone on the cruise ship. He turned, chin slightly raised, and scoffed, “It’s a few thousand yuan worth of junk. Throw it away if you don’t want it.”
He was just feeling smug when he saw Jiao Muxue brush past his shoulder to the counter, saying eagerly to Ji Xia, “Xia Xia, I’m willing to marry you. After a few years, when you leave Fu Yuan and I divorce Fu Su, let’s be together, okay?”
Fu Su’s triumphant face instantly turned green. He gritted his teeth in hatred, but he didn’t dare make a scene with Jiao Muxue right now.
The wedding hadn’t happened yet, and the marriage license wasn’t signed; he couldn’t anger the Alpha. He ground his back teeth, once again blaming Ji Xia for this.
Once this country bumpkin Omega was abandoned by Fu Yuan, he vowed to scratch his face, strip his clothes, and throw him into the busy street. He would let everyone see this disgusting thing naked.
Ji Xia hadn’t expected Jiao Muxue to still be unwilling to give up even though he was about to marry. He firmly refused, “No. I can’t marry you.”
Jiao Muxue pressed on, “Xia Xia, you are the person I love! Marrying Fu Su is something I have to do. Please don’t be angry with me.”
Ji Xia frowned his beautiful eyebrows. “I’m not angry with you. CEO Jiao, if you are not buying bread, please…”
Jiao Muxue interrupted, “I’ll buy all the remaining bread.”
“Welcome!”
“This store does not do business with you! CEO Jiao, please leave!”
A deep, magnetic voice sounded behind the group.
Ji Xia was the first to react. His body reacted instinctively, and he quickly rushed to Fu Yuan’s side, grabbing the Alpha’s sleeve and hiding behind him. The tall Alpha completely shielded him, cutting off those covetous gazes.
Jiao Muxue’s face changed. He said, “CEO Fu, I just brought Su Su to buy bread. You wouldn’t interfere with this, would you?”
Fu Yuan said coldly, “It’s my store, and I won’t do business with you. I also ask CEO Jiao not to come again. Otherwise, don’t blame me for having you thrown out.”
The Jiao family’s influence was overseas; Kyoto was the Fu family’s territory. If he clashed directly, he would only suffer a devastating defeat. The aura of the top Alpha pressed him down, making him unable to raise his head. The anger contorted his face, but all he could do was endure.
He left without a word, walking quickly.
Fu Yuan’s cold eyes shifted to Fu Su. “If I see you provoking Ji Xia again, I will take back everything you currently have!”
Fu Su’s body trembled, and his face was terrifyingly pale. He respectfully said “Yes” and quickly hurried outside.
Jiao Muxue was walking fast, not waiting for the Omega behind him at all, so Fu Su had to run to catch up.
“Mr. Fu, why are you here?”
The moment Ji Xia saw Mr. Fu, his panic vanished, completely healed. He asked curiously.
Fu Yuan said, “There wasn’t much going on at the company today. I came specifically to supervise you to follow the curfew.”
Ji Xia curved his eyes into a smile and said, “I was just about to leave. All my things are packed.”
Fu Yuan said, “Good. Let’s go.”
Ji Xia said, “Mr. Fu, I’m riding my scooter back.”
Fu Yuan took his hand, their fingers interlocked. “Give the key to Xiao Zhang and have him ride it back after he gets off work.”
Ji Xia looked at Zhang Feng, feeling that it would inconvenience him. But Xiao Zhang said it was on his way, and he wouldn’t need to take a taxi anyway. Only then did Ji Xia agree.
As soon as Ji Xia got into the car with Mr. Fu, the Alpha pulled him into an embrace and kissed him.
Since returning from the island, Ji Xia had felt that Mr. Fu liked to hug him, kiss him, and touch him a lot. He had checked online, and this was due to pheromones.
When an Alpha marks an Omega more than three times, it creates a sense of protectiveness and dependence.
Of course, the Omega feels it too.
However, once an Omega is marked multiple times by the same Alpha within a certain period, it becomes difficult for them to develop interest in other Alphas.
But the Alpha, during this period, still maintains interest in other Omegas and can mark multiple Omegas simultaneously.
Fu Su’s words were harsh, but fundamentally correct.
In the future, Mr. Fu would surely find a better Omega.
Fu Yuan noticed the Omega’s absent-mindedness. He slowly pulled back a fraction of an inch and asked, “Are you unhappy?”
Ji Xia’s eyes were reddened from the kiss. He shook his head and said no.
Fu Yuan rested his forehead against Ji Xia’s. “Xia Xia, I can’t give you marriage and a child, but I can promise you anything else I can afford to give you.”
