- After Clinging to a Big Shot, the Pitiful Omega Got Pregnant
- Chapter 52 - Running Away with the Ball
Ji Xia waited for about half an hour before it was finally his turn to enter the consulting room.
After a series of embarrassing questions, the young Omega doctor gave him a slip, saying, “Just to be safe, let’s start with an ultrasound.”
Ji Xia disliked coming to the hospital precisely because of this nothing was wrong, yet they insisted on expensive, extensive checkups first.
But with Mr. Fu watching over him, he didn’t dare refuse. He obediently paid and went to the ultrasound room.
As the sticky gel was smeared on his belly and the instrument slowly rolled over it, Ji Xia stared boredly at the ceiling, thinking about making Mr. Fu another peach pie when he got back to cheer him up.
“Alright, you can wipe it off now.”
The examining doctor handed Ji Xia a tissue. The machine in front of the doctor vibrated, and the report was quickly printed out.
Ji Xia hastily wiped his belly a couple of times. As he reached out to take the paper from the doctor, he heard the doctor say, “It’s been two months. Very healthy, but be careful not to have overly vigorous sexual activity recently, watch your diet, and rest more. Just go back to the consultation room, and the doctor will prescribe some anti-miscarriage medication. Everything’s fine.”
Ji Xia’s hand paused, and he looked bewildered. “What?”
The doctor smiled, “Congratulations, you’re two months pregnant! You’re going to be a father.”
Ji Xia’s face instantly went “swish” pale. His vision suddenly darkened, and he nearly fell to the floor. Fortunately, the doctor quickly caught him.
The doctor asked with concern, “Are you alright?”
Ji Xia grabbed the doctor’s hand and asked with a trembling voice, “Can I terminate it? The baby, I want to terminate it.”
The doctor sensed something was wrong from the Omega’s frightened expression. He helped the person sit down on the bench outside the ultrasound room and poured him a cup of warm water, saying, “According to national law, an Omega needs the father’s signature to terminate a pregnancy.”
Ji Xia’s eyelashes fluttered. After a long silence, he finally spoke, “Thank you, Doctor.”
After the doctor returned to the ultrasound room, Ji Xia sat alone in the hallway. The white walls made his pale face appear deathly white.
His eyes were hollow and vacant, staring blankly at a point in the void.
He wondered why fate always treated him this way.
He had finally escaped his predetermined path, opened a bakery, and could stay by Mr. Fu’s side. As soon as he earned enough money and paid off his debt, he could date Mr. Fu and have a wonderful life.
But why, just as everything was beginning, did it all come to an end?!
Ji Xia felt lost and hopeless.
Just then, his phone vibrated again. Fu Yuan had sent a message asking about the situation.
Ji Xia stared at the cute bunny profile picture and the content of the chat box for a long time, but he didn’t reply. He had promised Mr. Fu he wouldn’t lie again.
He didn’t dare tell Mr. Fu that he had stepped on Mr. Fu’s most untouchable high-voltage line. He and Mr. Fu were finished.
Ji Xia put his phone away and remained in a daze for a bit longer.
His hand slowly moved to cover his lower abdomen. Only after the initial terror and panic subsided did he realize that a tiny life was now growing inside him.
His and Mr. Fu’s baby.
A bold idea flashed through his mind. He couldn’t go back to Mr. Fu, but he could take the baby to a remote seaside town.
In the future, he wouldn’t be alone; the baby would be with him.
This idea shone a light into Ji Xia’s bleak future.
He abruptly stood up, casually crumpled the lab report, stuffed it into his pocket, and hurried out of the hospital gate to get on his scooter. He immediately set off, heading south, determined to flee the capital city.
The cold wind of winter whipped his face raw, but Ji Xia didn’t notice.
His heart was filled with hope, striving forward to start a new life with his baby. However, fate always seemed to thwart him. Just an hour later, his escape attempt was forcibly halted. His scooter ran out of battery.
Ji Xia pushed the scooter for a while and found an electric vehicle charging area outside an old, dilapidated building in the old city. He sat on the low steps of a closed shop across the street, staring blankly, afraid to look at his phone.
There were no streetlights beneath the old, broken-down building, leaving it pitch black, with only a convenience store at the end of the neighborhood emitting a few scattered lights.
Ji Xia sat for a while and began to feel hungry, so he stood up to buy something to eat. As soon as he stood, he felt a wave of dizziness, and a dull ache started in his abdomen again.
Ji Xia clutched his stomach. A wave of fear seized his throat, and he felt a terror and panic he had never known. What if something happened to the baby…
Just then, his phone vibrated again.
In his haste, Ji Xia didn’t check the caller ID and answered the phone directly.
“Young Master Ji, why haven’t you returned home? Do you need me to pick you up?” It was Butler Xu’s kind voice on the other end.
Ji Xia’s eyes widened slightly. He opened his mouth but couldn’t speak. Butler Xu waited patiently on the other end.
After a moment, he slowly said, “Grandpa Xu… I, I don’t know what to do right now. My stomach is starting to hurt again, Grandpa Xu, what should I do?”
Butler Xu’s voice was clearly strained. “Young Master Ji, where are you right now? What happened?”
Ji Xia pleaded, “Can you please not tell Mr. Fu?”
For the first time, Butler Xu made a promise. “I won’t tell him.”
Ji Xia sniffled, steadied his emotions, and said, “Grandpa Xu, I didn’t, I truly didn’t have bad intentions. I don’t know why, but I have a baby. I know Mr. Fu will be furious and won’t want the baby. So I planned to leave the capital, but now, my stomach hurts, and I don’t know what to do, Grandpa Xu, what should I do?”
Butler Xu’s voice was calm. “Young Master Ji, don’t worry. Tell me where you are.”
Ji Xia sent his location to Butler Xu.
Butler Xu told him to wait; he was coming right away.
Ji Xia curled up beside the square pillar. Fortunately, the abdominal pain soon subsided, which reassured Ji Xia greatly.
After what felt like ages, the sound of hurried footsteps came from the small path connected to the outer street, but they stopped quickly. Then, only a single, urgent set of footsteps rapidly approached.
Ji Xia thought Butler Xu had arrived and stood up with difficulty to wait.
The footsteps stopped abruptly. When Ji Xia saw the person who appeared at the intersection, his already pale face completely drained of color, and his body began to tremble.
He wanted to run away immediately, but his legs wouldn’t obey; he couldn’t move.
In the dim light, the tall figure in the black suit stood at the corner.
The man’s features were handsome, with the shadows deepening his contours, making him even more striking, but this handsomeness was laced with malice and gloom, giving off an extremely sharp sense of danger.
Fu Yuan’s dark, ominous gaze fixed on the Omega. His eyes held soaring rage as he walked toward him step by step.
Ji Xia’s body shook like a sieve. He pleaded in a trembling voice, “Mr. Fu, I promise, I promise I will leave the capital and never return in this lifetime. Please let me go.”
Fu Yuan stopped in front of him, his expression hardening further.
He asked coldly, “Why did you deceive me again and again?”
Ji Xia clung to the pillar, desperately shaking his head. “No, I didn’t deceive Mr. Fu again.”
Fu Yuan pressed closer, asking, “Then how did the child come about?”
The Alpha’s utterly cold and oppressive presence made it hard for Ji Xia to breathe. He felt terribly upset and a little wronged. “I don’t know. I truly didn’t have any ulterior motives. Mr. Fu, I truly didn’t.”
Fu Yuan pinched his chin, lifting it up, and stared into his eyes for a long time, then asked, “Then why are you running away?”
Ji Xia bit his lip and said with a shaky voice, “You would be angry.”
Fu Yuan’s eyes were deeply sunken. He said, “I am indeed very angry now.”
Ji Xia lightly tugged at a corner of the Alpha’s suit jacket, pleading, “Mr. Fu, I’m sorry. I will leave. I will go far away and never anger you again.”
Fu Yuan let out a particularly chilling sneer.
He brushed Ji Xia’s hand away, his voice cold enough to freeze water. He said, “You want to leave me? Dream on!”
Ji Xia had only ever dared to gently pull at Mr. Fu’s coat corner, harboring a tiny hope that Mr. Fu would grant his small requests. Several times, Mr. Fu had agreed, which brought him secret joy.
But at this moment, his hand was empty, and his heart felt empty too. A sickening sense of falling swept over him. Ji Xia didn’t understand what it was, but he had no time to dwell on it now.
He bit his tongue hard, using the pain to calm himself slightly, and asked, “Mr. Fu, what do you want?”
Fu Yuan spoke with an unyielding, cold voice, “Terminate the pregnancy.”
Ji Xia began to struggle, trying to break free from the Alpha’s grip on his chin. “No, Mr. Fu, please. I promise I will never appear before you again in this life. Please don’t terminate the baby.”
The Omega’s struggle infuriated him. Fu Yuan’s face grew darker, and his hand slid down, gripping the Omega’s throat. “I told you from the start, I don’t want children.”
Ji Xia struggled to breathe, trying to explain, “The baby was an accident, Mr. Fu. I truly didn’t plan to have a baby.”
Fu Yuan: “Then come back with me and terminate it.”
Ji Xia shook his head. “But I want the baby.”
Fu Yuan was enraged and tightened his grip.
Ji Xia’s chest felt like it was being stabbed, the pain making it impossible to breathe. The Alpha’s gaze was too fierce; he was terrified.
In that moment, he realized that someone like him could never resist Mr. Fu.
He couldn’t protect the baby on his own.
Ji Xia’s struggling body suddenly went limp. His arms dropped as if severed, losing all strength. He closed his eyes, ceasing his futile resistance.
If this was the case, then let Mr. Fu just strangle him to death.
Anyway, he was meant to die originally.
The old building had poor soundproofing; the sounds of conversation and clattering dishes could be heard from inside.
A light turned on in a room on the first floor. The light spilled through the window onto the Omega’s pale face. The weak Omega’s eyelashes fluttered like broken butterfly wings.
He was crying silently, filled with despair and sorrow.
Fu Yuan’s grip softened slightly, and his voice was less harsh than before.
He said, “If you terminate the pregnancy, I won’t be angry anymore. You can still stay by my side.”
Ji Xia kept his lips tightly sealed, only shaking his head.
Fu Yuan’s voice turned cold again. “Do you want the child that badly? I told you, ‘mother gaining prestige through son’ won’t work with me. Even with a child, you’ll get nothing.”
Ji Xia slightly lifted his eyelids and looked sadly at the Alpha.
He wanted to say, “I want the baby because it’s mine and Mr. Fu’s baby,” but he remembered he was unworthy and closed his eyes again.
Tears streamed down his cheeks, silently hitting the ground.
The Omega’s silent defiance caused the slight lull in the storm brewing in Fu Yuan’s eyes to surge forth violently again. He suppressed his anger and said, “Don’t wish for the child; I will compensate you in other ways.”
Ji Xia didn’t answer, just kept his eyes closed quietly.
Fu Yuan let go of the Omega’s throat and his voice became slightly gentler, saying, “Be good.”
Ji Xia seized the moment the Alpha relaxed, turned around, and ran towards the other exit.
He knew very well he couldn’t escape and that this would only infuriate Mr. Fu further. But at this moment, he didn’t want to be obedient at all. He wanted to make Mr. Fu angry, so angry that Mr. Fu would throw him into the sea to feed the sharks.
“Ji Xia!”
Fu Yuan’s voice immediately dropped to twenty degrees below zero. It would be easy for him to catch the person, but seeing the Omega frantically running away from him made him hesitate.
A pang of pain shot through Ji Xia’s abdomen, but he ignored it, running desperately outwards.
Since childhood, Ji Xia had run desperately countless times. His life was a mire, and he had to fight hard to break free and survive.
Only after meeting Mr. Fu did Ji Xia realize he could have several dishes in one meal, and he could sleep on such a soft bed.
Taking a private jet, soaking in hot springs, watching the stars on an island… Mr. Fu was his god.
But he had become too greedy.
However, he really, truly wanted the baby.
If he couldn’t protect the baby, then let him leave this world with the baby. He wanted to be with the baby.
“Xia Xia!”
Two figures suddenly appeared at the end of the road. The light was too dim to see who they were.
But Ji Xia recognized the voice it was Little Grandpa.
The Alpha behind him seemed to have just reacted and was giving chase. Ji Xia’s mind was blank; he couldn’t think, only running with all his might towards Jiang Yi Shao. Jiang Yi Shao also rushed quickly toward him.
Seeing the situation was bad, Fu Yuan was about to reach out to grab the person.
But Butler Xu blocked him, and Jiang Yi Shao seized the opportunity to quickly reach out and pull the Omega into his arms.
Ji Xia’s face was white as paper, and he gasped for breath.
Leaning against Jiang Yi Shao, he grabbed Little Grandpa’s sleeve and panted, “Little Grandpa, I don’t want to terminate the baby.”
Jiang Yi Shao patted his back and wiped away his tears, saying, “No termination, no termination. With Little Grandpa here, you will safely give birth to the baby.”
Ji Xia’s big eyes welled up with tears again, but he held them back.
Fu Yuan exchanged a few moves with Butler Xu, pushing Butler Xu back a few steps. He said coldly, “Uncle Xu, you are not my match, step aside.”
Butler Xu was unyielding: “Young Master has long surpassed me. This old man can only try his best.”
Fu Yuan didn’t want to waste time fighting him. He looked at Ji Xia and commanded, “Come here.”
Ji Xia, leaning on Jiang Yi Shao, trembled slightly. He didn’t move, only gently shook his head, indicating refusal.
Fu Yuan’s voice was utterly cold. “Do you think they can protect you?! Ji Xia, I’m giving you one last chance. Come over now.”
Ji Xia was covered in tears, and a severe pain shot through his abdomen. He shook his head again, this time with a wider arc, showing his firm resolve.
Fu Yuan gritted his teeth and spat out a “Fine.”
He turned to Jiang Yi Shao and said, “Little Grandpa, I don’t want to fight you. Give him back to me.”
Jiang Yi Shao said, “Ah Yuan, you can’t be this overbearing. Xia Xia has the right to choose.”
Fu Yuan: “He’s just someone I bought…”
“Ah Yuan!”
Jiang Yi Shao cut him off. “Don’t do things you can’t undo or say hurtful things when you’re angry. It will only harm Xia Xia and lead to regret later.”
Fu Yuan’s face was as black as the bottom of a pot: “Little Grandpa, rest assured, I will absolutely not regret it.”
Ji Xia tugged at Jiang Yi Shao’s hand, his voice weak. “Little Grandpa, can you lend me 500,000 yuan first? I will definitely repay you later.”
Jiang Yi Shao said, “Of course I can.”
Ji Xia, his face pale, glanced at the Alpha and quickly looked away, saying, “Mr. Fu, we signed a contract. I’ll repay you 500,000 yuan, and you let me leave.”
Fu Yuan’s jawline was extremely tight, and rage surged through him again. “You want to leave me this badly?”
Ji Xia trembled slightly, not answering.
Fu Yuan sneered, “Ji Xia, I warned you not to step on my high-voltage line. Unless the child in your belly is terminated, I will not let you go. Little Grandpa is protecting you today, so I can’t move you. But I will make you come back and beg me!”
Having delivered his harsh threat, Fu Yuan turned and left without any hesitation or lingering look.
Only then did Ji Xia dare to look at the Alpha, his gaze fixed on him until the man’s figure disappeared at the corner.
Ji Xia felt terrible physically and even worse emotionally. His heart felt like it had been sliced open, letting in a howling cold wind. He knew that the next time he and Mr. Fu met, the scene would be a thousand times more terrifying than now.
However, he did not regret his decision.
As the intense emotions slowly receded, Ji Xia’s vision began to blur.
Jiang Yi Shao looked grave. He knew his grandson too well; Fu Yuan meant what he said, and with Fu Yuan’s current influence, neither he nor Fu Xuan were a match for him.
He needed to find help!
While he was pondering, his sleeve was gently tugged.
He looked down and saw Ji Xia’s paper-white face.
“Little Grandpa, my stomach… hurts…”
Ji Xia finished his sentence with difficulty, closed his eyes, and fainted.
Fu Yuan returned to the villa carrying a monstrous rage.
The villa was quiet. He went upstairs and pushed open the bedroom door.
The bedroom was dark, with only the faint, cold moonlight filtering in through the open window. Everything was neatly tidied, just as it had been for the past twenty-plus years.
But Fu Yuan felt a surge of irritation. The little thing had only moved in a few months ago, and he could already not tolerate such quiet and tidiness.
He messed up the entire room, yet the small items on the nightstand at the head of the bed remained quietly untouched.
Still, the anger in his heart didn’t dissipate at all.
Fu Yuan knew clearly that this state wouldn’t solve anything. He took a deep breath, forcing down the rampant malice in his chest.
The little thing dared to defy him! He would make him understand what a price he would have to pay for doing so!
Shadows obscured the Alpha’s face, making it impossible to discern the emotion in his eyes. However, the frenzied, violent pheromones in the air betrayed his present rage.
He turned and headed to the study.
When Ji Xia woke up, he found himself lying in a strange room, with a needle stuck in the back of his hand for an IV drip. Sunlight was streaming in through the open window.
Seeing he was awake, Chen Xi immediately sat by the bed and asked, “How are you? Does your stomach still hurt?”
Ji Xia saw Doctor Chen and curved his lips slightly, saying, “Doctor Chen, it doesn’t hurt anymore.”
Chen Xi took a pillow and placed it behind his back, helping him sit up. He said, “The baby is very strong. You can tell at a glance that they’ll be a top Alpha, just like their Alpha father.”
Ji Xia lowered his gaze, didn’t respond, and raised his hand to touch his lower abdomen, relieved.
Chen Xi realized he had said the wrong thing and changed the subject, saying, “I’ll get you something to eat. After you eat, the elders want to discuss some things with you.”
Ji Xia nodded and thanked Doctor Chen.
He didn’t have much appetite and only drank half a bowl of porridge. Doctor Chen didn’t force him, just saying that he would slowly recover with nourishment.
After Doctor Chen left with the bowl, it wasn’t long before there was another knock on Ji Xia’s door.
The door was ajar. Ji Xia, startled, looked up and saw Little Grandpa, giving a faint smile and calling out, “Little Grandpa.”
After Jiang Yi Shao came in, Ji Xia noticed three more people behind him: Old Master Fu, Grandma Qiu, and an Alpha he didn’t recognize.
The two Alphas sat on the room’s sofa. Grandma Qiu sat in the armchair by Ji Xia’s bed, and Jiang Yi Shao sat directly on the other side of the bed.
Jiang Yi Shao asked, “Xia Xia, are you still uncomfortable?”
Ji Xia shook his head and said he wasn’t.
Grandma Qiu held Ji Xia’s slightly cool hand, looking at the bandage wrapped around the Omega’s fair neck, and patted his hand with heartache. “Xia Xia, you’ve suffered. I apologize to you on Ah Yuan’s behalf.”
Only then did Ji Xia realize that Grandma Qiu must be Qiu Qinghe’s mother and Mr. Fu’s grandmother.
He quickly said, “Grandma Qiu, I was wrong. I didn’t keep the promise between Mr. Fu and me. Mr. Fu is not wrong; I am wrong.”
Grandma Qiu disagreed. “Silly child, how could it be your fault? When two people have an issue, they should talk it out properly. How can Ah Yuan resort to violence like that? When he comes to his senses, you can punish him properly.”
This was the second time Ji Xia had heard the word “punish.” He didn’t understand why they thought he had the ability to punish Mr. Fu.
He was just a poor, powerless, and weak Omega, and Mr. Fu hated him. He would only be punished.
But he didn’t argue. He only said, “We are not together. Mr. Fu and I are only…” Bed partners. He couldn’t say it, and couldn’t think of another word, so he just bit his lip, his ears turning red.
Jiang Yi Shao said, “Whether you are together or not, the fact is you are carrying the heir of our Fu family and Qiu family.”
He pinched Ji Xia’s cheek and continued, “Whether Ah Yuan acknowledges it or not, we do! The baby is the sole bloodline of the Fu and Qiu families. He will be the only inheritor of all my and Uncle Xuan’s, as well as the Qiu family’s, assets. The documents for the share transfer and inheritance have all been prepared. Everything the baby receives will be managed by you until the baby is eighteen.”
The information was overwhelming. Ji Xia’s eyes widened in surprise.
Grandma Qiu squeezed his small hand and said, “After Qinghe passed away, I thought I would never have any more dealings with the Fu family. But they did the right thing this time. Qinghe’s death affected Ah Yuan greatly, and I never knew what to do. Thank you, Xia Xia. You changed him.”
