- Chapter 9 - The Problem Caused by the Third Outfit...
“Get out.”
The words were a cold, stern rebuke, their sound like a blade of wind in the cold of winter.
The man sitting on the sofa had a grim expression, and his dark, heavy gaze held undisguised disgust.
Ji Xia stood there, his eyes wide and blank, not understanding what he had done to displease Mr. Fu this time. His eyes were clean, and paired with that expression, they gave him a look of pitiful innocence.
However, the powerful pheromones that swarmed from all directions and pressed him so hard he couldn’t breathe made it clear that the Alpha was not swayed by his charm.
Ji Xia’s whole body began to tremble from fear and pressure. His pale face went even whiter, and a fine sweat broke out on his forehead. The gland on the back of his neck started to swell, and soon a sharp pain followed.
As the pain intensified, his limbs grew weak.
Ji Xia was at a loss. The Mr. Fu in front of him was a side he had never seen before—terrifying and frightening. He asked in a hoarse voice, “Mr. Fu, what did I do wrong?”
Fu Yuan didn’t answer him, only repeating with more emphasis, “Get out!”
“Warning! Warning! Fu Boss’s favorability is -40. Please, Host, stop dangerous operations immediately.”
“Congratulations, Host! Fu Boss’s favorability is +9.”
“Warning! Warning! Fu Boss’s favorability is -50. Please, Host, stop dangerous operations immediately.”
“Congratulations, Host! Fu Boss’s favorability is +18.”
“Warning! Warning! Fu Boss’s favorability is -70. Please, Host, stop dangerous operations immediately.”
“Warning! Warning! Please, Host, stop dangerous operations immediately. The target’s aversion continues to rise. If it reaches a certain limit, the favorability and aversion values will become irreversible, and the Host’s fate will become irreversible. Please, Host, adjust your course of action immediately…”
With a “clatter,” the glass vase slipped from his weakened hand, shattering on the floor. The roses were scattered, their petals strewn everywhere.
But Ji Xia no longer had the capacity to care about these things. He felt as if his head was about to explode. The last shred of his sanity warned him to leave immediately. He gritted his teeth, supported his tottering body, and stumbled out of the room.
Ji Xia didn’t know how he got back to the attic. When he came to his senses, he was curled up in a ball on the sofa, wrapped in a blanket, shivering.
In his entire life, Ji Xia had only been this scared twice before: the first time was when he was 5 and was chased by three vicious dogs in his village, and the second was when he was 16 and was almost dragged into an alley by a few hooligans on his way home from work late at night.
This was the third time.
Ji Xia thought he was going to die.
He stayed curled up under the covers with his eyes wide open for a long time, slowly overcoming the fear that was branded into his genes. He climbed out, but his legs suddenly gave out, and he fell to the floor.
It took a great deal of effort for him to pull himself up and walk into the bathroom.
He wanted to wash his face, but he froze when he stood in front of the mirror.
In the mirror above the sink, his face was less gaunt and more attractive than usual.
He was wearing a slightly transparent white shirt that barely reached his thighs. A few inches below his thighs, a black lace band was tied, with two straps extending upward. Through the faint white fabric, he could vaguely see the outline of a lace thong.
It was a very indecent outfit.
Only then did Ji Xia understand why Mr. Fu had been so angry.
He looked too shameless.
Ji Xia immediately summoned the system and asked why this outfit appeared and if the system was malfunctioning.
“Host, the system is not malfunctioning. The system has continuously ranked first in the System Bureau for host satisfaction for twenty consecutive years. All hosts who have worked with the system are very satisfied. The system chose the outfit based on the information you provided. An Omega entering an Alpha’s room to give them roses to make them happy—the outfit the system chose is the one most likely to arouse desire. As the saying goes, there’s no problem between a couple that doing it can’t solve, and if there is, just do it again.”
Ji Xia rubbed his face and explained, “Mr. Fu and I are not a couple.”
“Then it’s an Omega and an Alpha. There’s no problem between them that doing it can’t solve, and if there is, just do it again.”
Ji Xia: “I don’t have that kind of relationship with Mr. Fu.”
“Impossible. There’s no such thing as a pure friendship between an AO. No Alpha can resist the system’s outfit. If they do, that Alpha must be sick, very sick.”
Ji Xia felt a sense of despair.
“If the Host doesn’t like explicit, suggestive outfits, next time you can add ‘professional’ to your keywords after providing the context.”
Upon hearing that there was a solution, Ji Xia let out a sigh of relief. But Mr. Fu was clearly very angry, and he couldn’t explain anything. What should he do? He came out of the bathroom and curled back up on the sofa.
At the same time, in a bar with his friends, Chen Xi’s phone buzzed in his pocket. He took it out, looked at the screen, and a smirk curled on his lips. He said to his friends, “Fu will come over tomorrow night and bring an Omega with him. This Omega is very high-level. Whoever can steal this Omega away, I, Chen Xi, will give them a car.”
Ji Xia thought he would have trouble sleeping, but he fell asleep soon after closing his eyes. When he opened them, it was already past nine in the morning on the next day.
Ji Xia quickly washed up and rushed downstairs, checking the study, the bedroom, the living room, and the dining room… but he couldn’t find Mr. Fu. He started to panic. He found Butler Xu in the servants’ villa next door, who was watering the flowers, and asked about Fu Yuan’s whereabouts.
Butler Xu said, “The young master went to work.”
Ji Xia asked, “Where does Mr. Fu work? Can I go find him?”
Butler Xu replied, “Young Master Ji, it’s not convenient for you to go to the young master’s workplace.”
Ji Xia pursed his lips and asked, “Then when will Mr. Fu be back?”
Butler Xu said, “I’m sorry, Young Master Ji, I cannot answer you. I don’t know either.”
Ji Xia returned to the attic with his spirits low. He had less than a day left, but he couldn’t see Fu Yuan. If he couldn’t convince Fu Yuan to let him stay, he would re-enter the plot, be locked up by the scumbag Alpha, and have many terrible things done to him.
Ji Xia lay on the soft sofa, watching the time tick away in silence, feeling helpless and unable to do anything.
It wasn’t until past 5 p.m. that Butler Xu appeared at the attic door and told him that Fu Yuan wanted to see him.
Ji Xia shot up from the sofa like a leaping carp. Without even putting on his slippers, he rushed downstairs in a panic, as if afraid that if he were a moment late, Mr. Fu would change his mind about seeing him.
He ran all the way to the living room and saw the man in a sharp suit sitting on the sofa. His gaze was still as cold, but there was something else in it that Ji Xia couldn’t name. Ji Xia just felt that he was so far away from Mr. Fu.
Ji Xia remembered his outfit from the night before, and his ears turned red instantly.
He lowered his eyes and called out shyly, “Mr. Fu.”
Fu Yuan only glanced at him indifferently before looking away. Then, he stood up and said, “Come with me to a place.”
Ji Xia followed him like a little puppy. As long as he was with Mr. Fu, he still had hope. He had no way out; he had to stay by Mr. Fu’s side.
Ji Xia got into the car with Fu Yuan.
He carefully chose his words for a while before speaking softly, “Mr. Fu, I’m sorry about last night. I… I didn’t do it on purpose.”
Fu Yuan looked straight ahead and didn’t answer him.
Ji Xia followed his gaze and met the deep, sharp eyes in the rearview mirror. They were a pair of beautiful, narrow phoenix eyes, with a coldness in them that Ji Xia could never understand.
Ji Xia curved his eyebrows and gave a flattering smile into the rearview mirror.
Fu Yuan coldly shifted his gaze.
Ji Xia pursed his lips and lowered his eyelashes, feeling a little lost.
A moment later, Fu Yuan suddenly told the driver to stop, turned to Ji Xia, and said, “Help me buy a bottle of water.”
The dull light in Ji Xia’s large eyes instantly brightened again. He said “Okay,” immediately pushed the car door open, got out, looked around, found a convenience store, and rushed over.
Fu Yuan watched Ji Xia’s back disappear in the rearview mirror and said, “Drive on.”
The driver was stunned for a moment but replied, “Yes.”
Ji Xia looked through the shelves in the convenience store and chose the most expensive mineral water. He was also a little thirsty, but he figured he could hold out and drink water at home to save money.
He held the bottle of mineral water and hurried out, thinking that being able to run an errand for Mr. Fu meant he was at least a little useful.
But when he reached the spot where he had gotten out of the car, the black luxury car that had been parked on the side of the road was gone.
Ji Xia panicked. He looked around everywhere, but it wasn’t there. Ji Xia realized he had been left behind. Mr. Fu’s meaning was clear: he wasn’t good enough and didn’t deserve to stay by his side.
The sun had already set behind the mountain, and the sky was filled with crimson clouds. The streetlights lit up one after another, and the road was bustling with cars and people. The world was so big, but at this moment, Ji Xia didn’t know where to go.
He stood there blankly for a while, then suddenly remembered that Mr. Fu had told the driver they were going to the Lu Yun Residence before they got in the car.
Ji Xia quickly looked up the location of the Lu Yun Residence on his phone’s map. It wasn’t far, only a fifteen-minute walk. He started to run and followed the map’s directions until he found the location of the residence.
However, before he could breathe a sigh of relief, he was stopped by a security guard who asked him to present an invitation to the residence. Otherwise, he couldn’t enter.
Ji Xia explained that he was only late because he was buying water for Mr. Fu. He even showed the bottle of water to the security guard, mentioning it was the most expensive one from the convenience store. The guard looked at it, his eyes filled with disdain, and shooed him away.
Ji Xia was so anxious he was running in circles. He called Chen Xi, wanting to ask if he had an invitation to the Lu Yun Residence, but the phone rang busy, and he couldn’t get through at all.
Ji Xia knew that waiting at the entrance wouldn’t work. Mr. Fu could abandon him once, and he could do it a second time. As long as Mr. Fu refused, he would never be able to see him.
With no other options, Ji Xia had to resort to desperate measures. He went online to search for ways to enter the Lu Yun Residence. After searching for a long time and sifting through many random posts, he finally found a comment under one of them.
7777: You might not believe it, but my crappy little neighborhood is right behind the Lu Yun Residence. If you climb over the wall and swim across the lake, you’ll be there.
Orange Blossom: @7777 Which neighborhood? I’ve wanted to go to the Lu Yun Residence for a long time.
7777: @Orange Blossom Zheng Rong Neighborhood. Dude, do you want to end up in a sweatshop?!
…
Ji Xia didn’t read any further. He navigated to the Zheng Rong Neighborhood and set off.
The sky had grown dark, and few of the streetlights in the old neighborhood were working, making it pitch-black.
After a great deal of effort, Ji Xia climbed the neighborhood wall and finally found the lake the netizen had mentioned. The other side of the lake was brilliantly lit and dazzling, while this side was quiet and deep, hiding unknown dangers in the darkness.
The night wind was cold. Ji Xia, who was holding onto a tree on top of the wall, shivered.
There was no one around. He didn’t know how to swim. If he jumped in, he would probably die. But if he didn’t jump, things would be even worse. Jumping in, on the other hand, offered a sliver of hope.
He had four hours left. He still had a chance to get Mr. Fu to let him stay.
Ji Xia used a rope he had just found to tie the mineral water bottle to his waist. He took a deep breath, leaped, and jumped into the lake.
The moment the icy lake water went over his head, Ji Xia’s heart panicked. All the swimming motions he had mentally rehearsed were thrown out the window, leaving only his instincts.
He held his breath, thrashing his limbs wildly and struggling with all his might, still looking just as clumsy and pathetic.
But no matter how hard he tried, his body kept sinking. Water entered his ears, and a buzzing sound filled his head. He thought he heard someone calling out, but it might have been his imagination.
The oxygen in his chest was depleted. Ji Xia’s limbs weakened. His body was enveloped by the lake water, and bubbles gurgled from his mouth as his consciousness became blurry.
With his eyes slightly closed, he thought to himself, I shouldn’t have just eaten a little bit of food at noon today just to pretend I’m easy to take care of.
