After Disabled A was Reborn, She Got Scummed Again - Chapter 13
The moment the group started heading toward the school administration offices, a sudden commotion caught their attention just as they stepped out of the academic building.
A crowd of students had formed a tight circle, and even campus security had been dispatched to keep order—it looked like someone important had arrived.
Chu Qiyan instinctively turned toward the noise and immediately spotted Qin Xiao in the middle of the crowd. She was still seated in her wheelchair, her expression calm and composed. Her beauty remained cold and distant, like a celestial being untouched by the mortal world.
Chu Qiyan’s round, almond-shaped eyes widened.
Why was Qin Xiao here at Jingyan University?
Surprise and confusion flashed through her mind. She wasn’t vain enough to think Qin Xiao came here for her.
Not far away, a teacher was jogging over to welcome the visitor. If Chu Qiyan remembered correctly, that was the vice principal.
As expected of Qin Xiao—even at a university, she was treated with a level of honor no one else could match.
Then again, she was, after all, one of the school’s board members.
Chu Qiyan stood there blankly, eyes fixed not on the crowd but on Qin Xiao herself.
Suddenly, Qin Xiao looked in her direction. Their gazes met.
Qin Xiao’s eyes—those alluring, phoenix-shaped eyes—remained as cold and emotionless as ever, even as they landed squarely on Chu Qiyan’s face.
Unable to read her expression, Chu Qiyan quickly looked away.
“Chu Qiyan,” Qin Xiao said, voice light as a feather, “come with me.”
Chu Qiyan, who had just been about to sneak off with her companions, froze. She looked at Senior Zhang Qian and Tian Shi beside her, confusion and surprise flickering in her face.
The crowd quickly dispersed once the fun was over, but Chu Qiyan was still rooted to the spot, unsure whether to step forward or stay put.
A nearby assistant approached her and gestured for her to come over.
“Let’s go together,” Qin Xiao said, shooting a glance at the alpha standing beside Chu Qiyan.
And so, the entire group followed the vice principal toward the office.
Liu, Qin Xiao’s personal assistant who was pushing her wheelchair, finally got his first real look at Chu Qiyan. He greeted her with a gentle smile.
“Patriarch Qin… why are you here? ”Chu Qiyan asked bluntly—there were just too many unanswered questions swirling in her mind.
“I have business here,” Qin Xiao replied, her tone sharp and cutting, like the edge of a blade.
Assistant Liu raised an eyebrow and gave Chu Qiyan a meaningful look.
Chu Qiyan, however, didn’t seem to notice Qin Xiao’s displeasure at all.
“Oh… so why did you call me over?” she continued, not forgetting that she still had important matters of her own to deal with.
“I told you already—if you need anything, come to me,” Qin Xiao said, turning her head slightly to glance at Chu Qiyan. Her eyes briefly passed over the unfamiliar alpha beside her.
Why was she going out of her way to ask others for help when Qin Xiao had already made herself available? And clearly, the issue still hadn’t been resolved.
Otherwise, she wouldn’t have needed to show up in person. A phone call would’ve sufficed.
“Yes…” Chu Qiyan murmured, deep in thought. After a moment, she finally looked up at Qin Xiao, trying to figure out if she meant what she said.
In her black-and-white almond eyes shimmered a flicker of surprise.
Could Qin Xiao really have come… for her?
But why?
“You clearly weren’t listening to me,” Qin Xiao said coldly, a faint note of reprimand in her voice.
Chu Qiyan came to a halt, trying to make sense of Qin Xiao’s words—and wondering if she was angry.
“What’s wrong, Qiyan?” asked Senior Zhang Qian, who stood beside her with concern. She, too, knew of Qin Xiao—President Qin of the Qinlang Group. Rumor had it that President Qin had recently gotten engaged, and the fiancée was supposedly Chu Qiyan’s younger sister, Chu Qian.
At least, that’s what the public believed.
So what was she doing here now? Surely not to stand up for her fiancée’s older sister?
“I’m fine,” Chu Qiyan replied with a soft smile, then lifted her gaze toward the most distinguished figure in the group.
Before long, they arrived at the office. The spacious room was already occupied by several senior staff members from the school.
Qin Xiao sat at the head of the room, while Chu Qiyan stood awkwardly to one side, hugging the wall.
“You. Sit,” Qin Xiao commanded. Her tone left no room for refusal.
The assistant quickly pulled out the chair beside her.
Chu Qiyan obediently sat down next to her, eyes full of confusion, surprise, and uncertainty.
“Let me introduce her,” Qin Xiao said, sweeping her eyes across the room. Her voice was clear and deliberate. “This is my fiancée.”
Zhang Qian, who was standing nearby, looked utterly stunned.
Chu Qiyan was Qin Xiao’s fiancée?
How was that even possible?
The school officials, flustered, nodded repeatedly and wiped the sweat from their foreheads. They had rushed over without knowing what was going on, and now they finally understood the situation.
“The forum post needs to be taken down immediately. I don’t want to see a single false rumor slandering my fiancée.”
Qin Xiao’s elegant phoenix eyes glinted with a sharp, commanding light.
“Y-yes, of course, President Qin. Don’t worry, we’ll handle it right away!”
The vice principal replied hastily, nodding repeatedly.
“Good.” Qin Xiao shifted gears without missing a beat. “Then let’s move on to the sponsorship for the medical department.”
She spoke as casually as if it were a trivial matter, tossing around a multimillion-dollar deal like it was pocket change.
.*****
The agreement was finalized quickly. The other school officials took their leave, leaving only the vice principal behind.
Chu Qiyan was still sitting next to Qin Xiao, not of her own will. Throughout the whole discussion, she kept her head down and stayed quiet.
She still couldn’t quite believe it—Qin Xiao had really come here to help her.
“Thank you, Qin Xiao,” Chu Qiyan said quickly, finally speaking up.
“No need for thanks. I meant it when I said to come to me if you need help,” Qin Xiao replied, her gaze settling on the quiet girl beside her.
But despite the soft words, a flicker of dissatisfaction lit up inside her—this person, despite how obedient she appeared, never actually listened.
“…Why are you helping me?”
Chu Qiyan met her eyes directly, her voice calm, unwavering.
“You’re my fiancée. What do you think?” Qin Xiao’s lips curled into a faint, indifferent smile.
Chu Qiyan lowered her gaze, saying nothing.
“You could try trusting me a little more,” Qin Xiao said, watching her. She didn’t understand what was making the other girl hesitate.
Wasn’t she the only one who could really help her?
“And why should I?” Chu Qiyan looked back up at her. “Because of Chu Qian? Are the two of you planning something?”
Qin Xiao paused. “What?” she said, her expression blank for a second. “What does Chu Qian have to do with this? Are you afraid I’ll hurt you?”
“I am.” Chu Qiyan nodded, her obsidian-black eyes shining with quiet seriousness.
Qin Xiao suddenly laughed. Her sharp phoenix eyes softened as they curved with amusement, lips lifting in a smile—charming and radiant.
Chu Qiyan stared at her, caught off guard. For a second, she couldn’t look away.
“You don’t need to worry. If I wanted to hurt you, I wouldn’t use such roundabout means. And for the record—I have nothing to do with Chu Qian,” Qin Xiao said calmly.
“…Then why are you helping me? What do you want from me?”
Chu Qiyan frowned. The more straightforward Qin Xiao was, the more confused she felt.
“Is there anything you have that I’d want?” Qin Xiao asked plainly.
“…No,” Chu Qiyan admitted after a pause. Then, meeting her gaze, she added quietly, “But I could.”
“You?”
Qin Xiao let out a low chuckle. “Chu Qiyan, as my fiancée, it’s only right that I protect you.”
“Do you like me?”
That was the first thought that popped into Chu Qiyan’s head.
Qin Xiao raised an eyebrow but didn’t answer.
“Alright,” Chu Qiyan said after a beat, her tone soft as she smiled faintly. “I’ll try not to cause you too much trouble.”
She still didn’t know what Qin Xiao’s real intentions were, but the fact that she was willing to help was enough for now.
Besides her, who else did Chu Qiyan even have to rely on?
“Mhm.”
Qin Xiao responded with a gentle hum. She cast her a sidelong glance—the girl’s lashes were lowered, trembling slightly. Still cautious. Still unsure of her.
But that was fine. There was plenty of time.
Suddenly, the assistant returned, dragging someone in.
“President Qin, we found her! She’s the one who ordered the post to be made.”
She might’ve said “found,” but it looked more like “apprehended.”
And right behind her came Chu Qian and Tong Ran.
“Let go of me! Let me go!”
Chen Sheng shouted, struggling as both of her hands were firmly held, unable to break free.
“President Qin, the mastermind is her—Chen Sheng. The third daughter of the Chen family,” the assistant reported.
“No! That’s not true! You’re accusing me without proof!”
Chen Sheng yelled in protest.
“Qiyan and I are friends—why would I do something like this?! If you’re going to accuse someone, you need evidence! Do you even have any, or are you just making baseless claims?”
She turned toward Chu Qiyan, desperate. “Qiyan, help me! Please!”
Qin Xiao calmly lifted her teacup, took a slow sip, and said lightly,
“Where’s the evidence?”
