“Come in,” Qin Xiao said composedly as she quietly moved away from the sofa and maneuvered her wheelchair.

After entering with buckets of ice, two maids made their way directly to the restroom. After adding ice to the tub, they cooperated to assist Chu Qiyan with the chilly bath while remaining nearby to tend to her needs.

After taking the pheromone suppressant, Aunt Liu had somewhat recovered and approached Qin Xiao.

 “Master, Dr. Xu will arrive shortly.”

“Okay,” said Qin Xiao quietly, with a contemplative expression.

Then Aunt Liu went back to stand by the door. The room’s grand doors were partially open and partially closed.

Chu Qiyan’s gentle, tearful groans from the restroom occasionally disturbed the stillness. 

Qin Xiao, meanwhile, continued to think deeply.

“Master, Dr. Xu has arrived,” Aunt Liu reminded her after a little knock on the door.

“Come in.” Qin Xiao raised her head. Neither lifetime had altered that recognizable attitude.

Xu Chanmian, the doctor who was carrying a medical kit and entered with grace. Her wavy hair framed her bright and endearing features. Even a simple white coat could not conceal her inherent charm. With every step she took, the glimpse of a red, body-hugging dress beneath her coat shifted.

Xu jokingly said, “Well, look at this warm welcome today.”

Outside, a group of maids, Betas and Omegas alike, were waiting. Aunt Liu had given them a call in case something unforeseen occurred.

Xu went on before anyone could reply, “Aunt Liu! It’s been a while. Hold on, why does this place smell so strongly of pheromones?

She took out multiple pheromone-blocking patches from her medical kit before she had even entered the entire room. 

“Really, Qin Xiao? Under these circumstances, you called me in?

Aunt Liu was about to respond when Xu interrupted her and hurriedly applied a patch to her gland. She then gave the others to Aunt Liu and put one on herself.

“Sigh. It’s really difficult to work with Qin Xiao,” Xu sighed.

“Xu Chanmian,” Qin Xiao called icily.

As the maids carried Chu Qiyan out of the restroom, Qin Xiao said, “Take care of her,” lifting her chin slightly to indicate Chu.

The Omega maids had changed Chu Qiyan into a modest, long nightgown that completely covered her entire body.

The cold bath had somewhat cleared her mind, and although her cheeks were still flushed, she was no longer babbling.

Chu Qiyan suddenly felt embarrassed. She was unable to even look in Qin Xiao’s direction because she had both hands covering her face. She could still picture herself, high on the drug, clinging to Qin Xiao. She would undoubtedly pay for that in the future.

Chu Qiyan covered her face once more on the sofa. Now everyone knew who she was. She was unable to confront anyone.

Then someone leaned over. “Hi, lovely girl. I take it that you were given an aphrodisiac?

With a shy nod, Chu Qiyan looked up. The speaker was a breathtakingly gorgeous woman who exuded sophisticated charm.

“Don’t worry. The medicine is straightforward. Allow me to introduce myself. She took a syringe out of the medical kit and gave Chu Qiyan an injection, saying, “I’m Xu Chanmian, a doctor and Qin Xiao’s friend.”

“All right, thank you—” Chu Qiyan fell asleep before she could finish.

“What happened to her?” Qin Xiao frowned as she asked. Even though she wasn’t a doctor, it didn’t seem right for someone to go to sleep like that.

“Don’t worry. Dr. Xu said, “I just gave her a sedative.” “Really, don’t call me again for something so simple. It is merely a typical aphrodisiac.

She started packing her medical kit after removing her gloves.

“Why put her under such sedation?” Perplexed, Qin Xiao asked.

With seriousness, Xu replied, “I was worried she might jump on me.” “Your fiancée is far too gorgeous, Qin Xiao. At first glance, I fell in love with her. You are aware of my susceptibility to temptation.

Shutting her kit, she proceeded. “I wouldn’t say no if she approached me while under the influence of drugs. I can mark her, but you can’t. However, friends shouldn’t take each other’s partners, right?

Sincerely, Xu added, “And besides, you probably didn’t want her to overhear our conversation either.” However, a moment later, she resumed her typical teasing behavior.

“Well, what can I say? Your inability to detect pheromones is not your fault. You called me for that reason, correct? She leaned over and patted Qin Xiao on the shoulder.

“Will you just shut up for a second, Xu Chanmian?” Qin Xiao gave her a chilly stare. 

Her remarks weren’t particularly poignant; rather, they were simply repetitive banter. It’s too loud.

Xu responded, “Hmph, I’m not a mute like you are.” After taking a quick look around, she placed her medical kit on the coffee table and took a seat on the beige sofa across from it.

Qin Xiao stated bluntly, “It’s no wonder you’re still unmarried.”

Qin Xiao went on, “I have a fiancée.”

“Hey… I wouldn’t have sedated her if I had known that sooner. Xu responded with a dramatic sigh, “It would have been nice to spend a night with that beauty.”

“Friends don’t steal each other’s lovers.” As Qin Xiao sipped her tea, she muttered.

“Oh my, you’re already calling her your lover? I’m shocked by you, Qin Xiao,” Xu teasingly said.

Since school, in fact, the two had been friends for years. Furthermore, Xu was Qin Xiao’s doctor, so she was well-versed in her life. Xu also enjoyed gossiping. Typically, she had no one with whom to gossip.

Had the cold, aloof head of the Qin family really changed her romantic target in just a few days? Xu didn’t believe it.

Chu Qiyan was a new name to her. She had hazy recollections of the Chu family scandal involving the real versus fake heiress. She used to make fun of Qin Xiao for falling for Chu Qian, the wrong sister.

However, Dr. Xu refrained from interfering because at least Qin Xiao was finally opening up to someone.

Qin Xiao casually reminded her that Lu Ming was still downstairs.

“Are you finished? If not, I’m heading out. She picked up her medical kit and made her way to the door, saying, “My date is still waiting for me at home.”

“Aren’t you in a rush to find Lu Ming?” Qin Xiao knew enough about her friend.

Xu Chanmian stopped. “…Me? Trying to find her? No chance.

Qin Xiao wheeled toward her and answered, “I’m being serious.” “Hold on a minute—take a look at me before you leave.”

“Huh? You mentioned you were fine, correct? What needs to be checked? Were you also drugged? Xu’s bright smile faded as she asked with a frown.

“It wouldn’t really matter if you were under the influence of drugs, would it? Your pheromones hardly register, and you can’t mark anyone anyhow. She was compelled to tease.

Qin Xiao looked at Chu Qiyan, who was still sound asleep on the couch, and said, “Let’s go to the study.”
