- Chapter 10 - Take It Easy, Sister
After work.
In the boxing area of the gym.
Lu Jin’an had already changed into professional gear and was circling the octagonal ring with a sandbag-covered sparring partner.
“Bam—”
“Bam bam—”
Even Coach Xiao Wu was struggling to handle the sheer force behind her punches, gritting his teeth repeatedly. During a break, he praised,
“Miss Lu, your strength is impressive. You must have trained for a long time.”
“Let’s take a short break, then switch to another coach for your session.”
This was only Lu Jin’an’s second visit to the boxing gym since moving here. The coaches, seeing her tall but slender and seemingly delicate frame, assumed she wouldn’t pack much power, so they assigned the lean Xiao Wu as her partner.
But Xiao Wu ended up feeling like a punching bag the entire time.
This sister was brutal.
After just a few rounds, noticing Xiao Wu’s arms were barely lifting anymore, she finally eased up and asked, “Sorry, did I hurt you?”
Xiao Wu shook his head with a smile. “You’re amazing, sis! I’m clearly not up to it—we’ll need a stronger coach to match you.”
While Lu Jin’an was sparring with the assistant coach, a crowd had already gathered around the ring, drawn by her striking combination of fierce agility and a slender, captivating figure.
Many gym-goers couldn’t help but ask the nearby assistants, “Her form and technique are so polished—is she one of your coaches?”
Upon learning Lu Jin’an was just an enthusiast, their interest only grew. “How long would it take for me to get that good?”
The coach’s business instincts kicked in as he replied with practiced professionalism, “Not too long. She’s only been training for three years—three sessions a week, two hours each.”
Hearing the intensity, most were immediately deterred.
“Never mind, we’ll just enjoy the view. She’s gorgeous to watch.”
“But why haven’t we seen her before?” many asked.
The coach smoothly lied, “She used to train at another branch of ours—just transferred here recently.”
Naturally, he seized the chance to hype up the gym’s prestige, omitting the fact that this was Lu Jin’an’s first visit.
Her sculpted physique was the result of disciplined workouts since college—
far from something a few boxing sessions could achieve.
A handful of determined gym-goers, however, were already inquiring about signing up for classes.
Xiao Wu, earnest and likely fresh out of school, blushed slightly as he said to Lu Jin’an, “You showing up and sparring just brought us several new members. You’re practically our lucky charm.”
Lu Jin’an almost teased, “If I’m your lucky charm, shouldn’t I get some perks?” But seeing how innocent Xiao Wu was, she held back.
Unexpectedly, noticing her thermos was empty, Xiao Wu bought her a sports drink with his own money. “Here, sis… my treat.”
Lu Jin’an was torn between laughter and exasperation. Xiao Wu reminded her of Fang Lang—did kids fresh out of school these days have no sense of boundaries?
They really dared to do anything.
The second round began.
As Lu Jin’an lost herself in the rhythm of punches and footwork, she remained oblivious to the gaze fixed on her from the equipment area nearby.
Ning Nai frequented this gym too—it was only a ten-minute walk from the neighborhood, after all.
Today, I happened to witness a stunning moment from Lu Jin’an, and I have to admit, that heartbreaker really has her charms.
Ning Nai had no idea how silly she looked, hanging onto the gym equipment and craning her neck to get a better look at Lu Jin’an.
Even though there was a running area between them, it didn’t stop her from recognizing that figure instantly—Lu Jin’an, tall and striking in a red-and-black athletic set, layered with a sports bra and high-waisted shorts that accentuated her perfect proportions. Her toned, powerful frame exuded sheer beauty.
Her long, wavy hair was tied back, swaying rhythmically with each punch. Though Ning Nai couldn’t see the details clearly, she could imagine the fine sheen of sweat on Lu Jin’an’s face, her eyes gleaming with focus.
Especially during those quick footwork combinations—her movements fluid, her fair neck glistening with sweat—it left many staring in awe.
Ning Nai unconsciously swallowed hard.
It wasn’t until her trainer, Tingting, came over and called out, “Hey, miss, have you finished your ten sets?” that Ning Nai snapped back to reality, slowly pulling her gaze away. “Ah, yeah, all done.”
Tingting looked at her—no flush, no panting, not even a drop of sweat on her forehead—clearly lying without a hint of shame.
She could only smile politely. “Great, then another ten sets.”
Ning Nai, who hadn’t worked out in about a month, was thoroughly wrecked by today’s training plan.
After 90 minutes of torture, her legs were so weak she could barely walk straight as she headed downstairs.
As she gripped the railing, carefully descending from the second floor, she caught sight of a woman resting on a bench in the garden below.
Night had fallen, and the garden lights cast a serene glow over the scene.
Huh? Was that… Lu Jin’an?
Ning Nai instantly straightened up, regaining her usual poise. But as she got closer, she noticed something was off.
The woman was hunched over, legs curled up on the bench, as if in pain.
What kind of pose was this?
Only when she reached her did the woman lift her head slightly, her expression twisted in discomfort.
Lu Jin’an realized she’d run into someone familiar and tried to force a smile, but it looked more like a grimace. “Director Ning…”
Ning Nai saw her clutching her right calf, her face pale with pain, and couldn’t help but offer some concern. “Keeping your leg bent during a cramp won’t help. You need to stretch it.”
The woman who had been dominating the octagon earlier was now completely subdued by a leg cramp.
For some reason, Ning Nai felt inexplicably pleased.
Seeing that heartbreaker in such a sorry state was satisfying.
But why did she also feel the urge to show concern?
The summer night sky stretched like a deep blue curtain, dotted with scattered stars, the moon occasionally peeking through the clouds. The quiet garden was filled with the intermittent chirping of cicadas and insects, a cool breeze carrying the scent of flowers and greenery.
Lu Jin’an had thrown on a quick-dry jacket over her earlier athletic outfit, and now, in a rare moment of vulnerability, looked nothing like her usual self.
The streetlight illuminated her smooth calf, where the muscle in the back was visibly knotted from the cramp. If left untreated, it would bruise and ache even worse tomorrow.
It was already 9 p.m.—not exactly early.
A woman experiencing leg cramps while alone outside could easily find herself in awkward or even dangerous situations. If it were anyone else, Ning Nai probably wouldn’t have felt comfortable walking away either.
She approached Lu Jin’an, crouching down in front of her and said, “Let me help you.”
Lu Jin’an looked up at her in surprise—this ice queen who usually kept everyone at arm’s length was actually offering to help her.
As Ning Nai drew closer, Lu Jin’an caught a whiff of fresh fragrance, still discernible even after exercise—that unique blend of perfume mingling with one’s natural scent.
