After Getting Pregnant, I Fought for a Divorce from My Alpha - Chapter 10
The group chat of the crew lit up at exactly six o’clock as everyone eagerly waited for Director Cao Xuan to announce the meetup. But Cao Xuan was nowhere to be found—until he finally called for everyone at six-thirty, scaring the team into thinking he might bail on them.
Cao Xuan had arranged for two buses to take the crew to a very famous local-style restaurant in Hangnan City. Since they had a large group, they booked out an entire banquet hall on one of the floors.
Rumor had it that the owner of the restaurant was a fan of An Xiangdi. Not only did she give them a discount, she also added extra dishes for them.
“We’re really riding on Teacher An’s coattails today!” Looking at the tables filled with delicious, diverse dishes, the crew was ecstatic.
An Xiangdi, however, didn’t smile at all. His gaze remained fixed on Shen Xiao and Liang Yao, who were standing together in the corner of the banquet hall.
He was already in a bad mood because Li Guan had canceled one of his cover shoots without asking. And now his Alpha was standing next to another Omega. Even though he knew Shen Xiao wasn’t the one who initiated it, he still couldn’t stand the sight.
A brave crew member who had taken the seat next to An Xiangdi followed his gaze and casually said, “I heard Ms. Liang is a fan of Teacher Shen.”
“Oh really?” An Xiangdi’s tone was icy.
But the crew member, totally oblivious, went on, “Yeah, and Ms. Liang is a very pretty and gentle Omega. Having someone like her as a fan… I’d feel lucky.”
An Xiangdi gave a cold laugh and shoved his empty glass into the crew member’s hand. “Thanks.”
“…Huh?” The crew member blinked, thinking An Xiangdi just wanted help with his empty glass. “You’re welcome.”
An Xiangdi didn’t respond and got up, walking straight toward Shen Xiao.
The clueless crew member still hadn’t figured out what went wrong when someone nearby shot him a glare and muttered, “If you don’t know what to say, just shut up.”
Finally realizing something was off, the crew member covered his mouth and shook his head furiously, silently vowing never to run his mouth again. He was terrified that he’d made an enemy out of An Xiangdi and looked like he was about to cry.
“What are you two talking about?” An Xiangdi asked coolly as he approached Shen Xiao.
Although she couldn’t smell An Xiangdi’s pheromones or feel any suppression, Liang Yao still felt uneasy the moment he showed up. She shook her head and stammered, “N-nothing really…”
“She said she wanted to apologize to you,” Shen Xiao said bluntly, not caring about being polite.
Liang Yao’s face turned bright red. She waved her hands and shifted her weight, clearly nervous and embarrassed.
“Why?” An Xiangdi never felt the need to show kindness to a romantic rival—especially not to an Omega who had once tried to snatch away his man.
Because of her pure and delicate looks, Liang Yao had always been doted on and had never experienced such humiliation before.
She thought that after filming with An Xiangdi for over two months, they’d at least be on friendly terms. She even took the initiative to apologize, thinking her previous flirtation with Shen Xiao could be swept under the rug.
But she had been too naive. Not only did An Xiangdi not brush it off, he stared at her like he saw right through her, giving her no face at all.
“I…” Liang Yao bit her lip tightly. Her carefully made-up face was now pale and bloodless.
“Let’s go.” An Xiangdi had never been the type to show his rivals any kindness. He grabbed Shen Xiao’s wrist.
Shen Xiao pulled him back and said, “I saw you downing glass after glass earlier. Even red wine can get you drunk.”
For once, An Xiangdi didn’t argue. So Shen Xiao had been watching him the whole time. That realization gave An Xiangdi a warm sense of pride and happiness.
“A-An Teacher! I’m sorry!” Liang Yao suddenly raised her voice.
The once noisy banquet hall fell silent, and everyone’s attention turned toward the three of them.
Liang Yao felt like everyone’s stares were exposing her most shameful thoughts. Eyes turning red, she apologized again: “Teacher An, I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have gotten my hopes up, I…”
“Maybe I didn’t make things clear enough, so you thought there was a chance?” An Xiangdi chuckled, then suddenly pushed Shen Xiao against the wall and kissed him.
Shen Xiao narrowed his eyes. After a moment, he wrapped one arm around An Xiangdi’s waist, the other cupping the back of his head, deepening the kiss.
When they finally pulled apart, An Xiangdi smacked his lips. Mixed with the familiar brandy-flavored pheromones, he also tasted bl00d—he had bitten Shen Xiao’s lower lip.
Liang Yao bowed her head and quietly returned to her seat. She had finally seen the truth—rumors of a fake marriage or bad bl00d were all false. These two were very much in love, with no room for a third person.
The rest of the crew was stunned by the sudden kiss. Even among celebrity couples, it was rare to see such bold PDA. But because the two looked so good together, people were already snapping photos and recording videos.
The two didn’t care about being seen. Their silence was taken as permission.
Back at their seats, Director Cao Xuan—who held the most authority in the crew—came over first to toast the two lead actors.
“Seriously, you two have worked so hard these past couple of months,” he began sincerely before cracking a joke, “Looks like we really had you two holding back!”
An Xiangdi had been bold earlier, but now that Cao Xuan teased him, he coughed awkwardly and quickly downed half a glass of red wine.
Shen Xiao hadn’t managed to stop him, so he turned to deal with Cao Xuan instead.
With Cao Xuan taking the lead, others followed suit, trying to get close to the two stars.
An Xiangdi wasn’t a strong drinker, so Shen Xiao helped block a few rounds.
“How did you two meet?” someone asked, a little drunk, taking the chance to pry into their history.
Everyone perked up with interest—even Liang Yao, still stuck in her feelings, listened in.
“Childhood friends,” Shen Xiao answered simply.
It was like a bomb dropped in the room—everyone was stunned.
Someone echoed loudly, “Childhood friends?!” and more people gathered around, determined to dig for juicy details.
But Shen Xiao didn’t elaborate, and An Xiangdi, whose phone had started ringing, slipped out of the crowd to take the call.
As expected, the call was from Li Guan. After An Xiangdi had called Ning Zhi earlier that day, news had definitely gotten back to the agency.
The moment he picked up, Li Guan’s furious voice exploded from the other end.
“An Xiangdi, you’ve got some nerve! Who let you take jobs on your own?!”
The canceled “Cisheng” May issue had come back to slap him in the face. He had just turned it down, and now the artist had accepted it behind his back.
“I told you that you’d be busy!” Li Guan snapped.
“Busy with what exactly?” An Xiangdi sneered. “From what I see, my schedule looks pretty open—aside from needing to record a song.”
“You think recording a song only takes a few minutes? Have you even met the producer? The songwriter or lyricist?”
Li Guan had always been half-baked in the industry. When he first took over An Xiangdi, he was simply told to keep the actor’s schedule tight and cancel everything else. Only in recent years had he learned a little about the business.
An Xiangdi chuckled coldly. “Li-ge, I am the songwriter and lyricist. Who am I supposed to meet?”
Silence on the other end.
“I call you ‘Li-ge’ out of respect for your age, but truthfully… you’re nothing.” An Xiangdi’s voice turned icy, his beautiful face now chilling. “Don’t think you can order me around—you don’t have the qualifications.”
He hung up and slumped back against the wall.
His issues with Royal Entertainment had begun long ago, though even he didn’t understand why.
Taking jobs without permission was a serious breach of contract, but strangely, Royal never charged him a cent in penalty fees. They neither terminated his contract nor blacklisted him. They just kept messing with him—petty and stupid.
In the dark, An Xiangdi let out a cold laugh.
He suddenly recalled the way Liang Yao had looked at Shen Xiao, and a ridiculous thought crossed his mind—had he somehow pissed off one of Shen Xiao’s obsessive fans? Or maybe a psycho had fallen for him and, unable to have him, just wanted to ruin him?
Shaking those absurd thoughts away, his innate confidence assured him he could handle whatever came his way.
He walked back to the banquet hall, unaware that in a previously empty-looking corner, Shen Xiao had been standing in the shadows, making a phone call.
Once the call ended, Shen Xiao quickly returned. From a distance, he heard someone urging An Xiangdi to drink, and his heart filled with dread.
Rushing inside, he saw An Xiangdi downing a full glass of baijiu.
“Sorry, he can’t handle alcohol,” Shen Xiao shoved through the crowd, snatching the cup away from him. The normally composed man was visibly flustered.
“Ah… oh, sorry, we didn’t know.” The staff, taken aback by Shen Xiao’s reaction, apologized awkwardly.
Shen Xiao half-supported An Xiangdi, turning to Cao Xuan. “Director Cao, we’ll head out first. Everyone else, please enjoy.”
“Go ahead. I can see Xiao An’s really out of it—go get some rest,” Cao Xuan, red-faced from drinking but still lucid, nodded.
Shen Xiao thanked him, took the car keys from his assistant, and scooped up the drowsy An Xiangdi, disappearing from the hall.
Once inside the car, before Shen Xiao could even start the engine, An Xiangdi stirred in the backseat, murmuring, “Hot…”
Glancing at the rearview mirror, Shen Xiao saw that An Xiangdi’s cheeks were flushed, and he had already undone the buttons on his upper shirt.
Shen Xiao inhaled sharply. The air was thick with his brandy-flavored pheromones… and beneath that, a faint, sweet scent began to emerge.
