After Getting Pregnant, I Fought for a Divorce from My Alpha - Chapter 11
An Xiangdi curled up in Shen Xiao’s arms, hugging his knees. Despite being drunk and seeing the world spinning, he could still recognize Shen Xiao’s face—it felt like it was carved into his heart.
“Shen Xiao…”
“We’re almost there.” Shen Xiao’s voice was hoarse.
An Xiangdi stared at him for a long moment, his long eyelashes fluttering slightly. Then he leaned in close to Shen Xiao’s ear and whispered, “Shen Xiao, I think I’m going into heat…”
“Mm, I know.” Omegas went into heat once every three months. Shen Xiao remembered clearly that An Xiangdi’s last heat was around New Year.
“Today… after drinking, I feel a little lightheaded.” As they stopped at a red light, An Xiangdi shifted into a more comfortable position and rested his full weight against Shen Xiao.
Their sensitive areas pressed together, and Shen Xiao struggled to stay calm, his arm hovering around An Xiangdi’s waist.
“Do I look good?” An Xiangdi felt like his whole body was burning. It was supposed to be the most pleasant season of the year, yet he was unbearably hot.
“Mm.” Shen Xiao nodded slightly, his face filled with restraint.
An Xiangdi teased him, “Then why won’t you look at me?”
Shen Xiao pressed his lips together, unmoved on the surface, but inside, his emotions were already churning. “Aren’t you drunk?”
“Yeah, I’m drunk. Dizzy.” An Xiangdi grinned, carefree.
Shen Xiao didn’t reply. He gave him a quick glance and looked away just as quickly.
An Xiangdi’s shirt was wide open, his fair skin exposed to the air. Every movement was tormenting to Shen Xiao. The sweet scent in the car was still faint but tempting. Shen Xiao worried that one more look would make him lose control and kick the assistant out of the car.
Seeing Shen Xiao remain unmoved, An Xiangdi seemed to get upset and pulled away, curling up in the seat beside him.
Silence fell over the car. Shen Xiao’s assistant didn’t dare say a word and drove as fast as he could, hoping to get the two back to the hotel quickly.
An Xiangdi leaned his head against the leather seat, staring out at the dim streetlights that, in his eyes, looked like strange yellow orbs. His mind began to drift.
He had never told Shen Xiao about his pheromone issue. Shen Xiao didn’t know that An Xiangdi could only detect one kind of scent in his world: brandy. But Shen Xiao had never asked. Did that mean he truly could smell An Xiangdi’s scent?
“Shen Xiao…” The thought made An Xiangdi want to ask.
“We’re almost there,” Shen Xiao replied, thinking he was urging again. He then told the assistant, “Liu Qing, faster.”
“Yes.” Liu Qing, a Beta, had no idea what was going on in the backseat. He could only push the car to its limit.
Soon after, the car did a smooth drift and stopped in the underground parking garage. Liu Qing tactfully left after helping them close the door.
“Does my scent smell good?” An Xiangdi had held it in for a long time before finally asking, nervously clenching his fists. He was gambling—gambling that Shen Xiao could smell it.
Shen Xiao nodded without hesitation. “It smells good—sweet. You have to lean in close to notice it, but do you know…”
“Know what?” An Xiangdi asked, not noticing the way Shen Xiao started describing his pheromones in detail, as if explaining.
“Every time you drink, your scent becomes even more irresistible.” As Shen Xiao spoke, he lifted An Xiangdi onto his lap.
An Xiangdi’s eyes lit up with joy at the affirmation. “Really?”
“Mm.” Shen Xiao smiled. “Drunk as you are, why are you still so talkative?”
“Is that not allowed?” An Xiangdi’s face was bright red. He reached up, tugged Shen Xiao’s collar, and pulled him close.
This time, before An Xiangdi could act, Shen Xiao kissed him first.
He grabbed a jacket to wrap around An Xiangdi, masking the sweet scent, and quickly carried him into the elevator. Once in the room, the door closed behind them, and the brandy-scented pheromone burst out like a floodgate, filling the space.
Already drunk, An Xiangdi grew dizzier, panting as he clung to Shen Xiao.
Shen Xiao originally planned to help him shower, but the man in his arms wouldn’t give him the chance—rubbing and touching as he pleased.
All An Xiangdi remembered was that in the heat of the moment, he snatched the freshly opened box from Shen Xiao’s hands and kicked him. “Just do it.”
The result of such indulgence was that the entire cast of Eyes Hidden in the Corners left within two days of wrapping up. Only Shen Xiao and An Xiangdi stayed behind for seven whole days, citing work as the reason.
After the feverish heat passed, An Xiangdi woke up on the eighth morning to see Shen Xiao sitting on the couch working on a laptop.
He was completely cocooned in the blanket, only his peach blossom eyes peeking out, staring at Shen Xiao.
As if sensing it, Shen Xiao came over, lifted the messy bangs from his forehead, and said, “You’ve been permanently marked.”
“…Mm.” An Xiangdi flushed with shame at the reminder.
Though they had been together for years, they’d always used temporary marks during heats and had never gone for a permanent one.
One reason was that Dr. Qiao had warned long ago—his pheromones were unstable, and a permanent mark might fail. The other was that when he debuted, he’d wanted to present as a Beta to avoid complications. But the company insisted he go public as an Alpha and had even added a contract clause. Being marked would risk exposure.
At the wrap party, An Xiangdi had just fought with Li Guan. Add alcohol to that, and emotions were running high. Shen Xiao whispering sweet nothings about his pheromones being delicious had stirred him, and he impulsively asked for a permanent mark.
“I have to leave this afternoon.” Shen Xiao had already postponed his schedule after the second day of An Xiangdi’s heat, telling Hua Jiang it was due to family matters.
“Hua Jiang’s rushing you?” An Xiangdi poked his head out from the blanket.
“Mm, there’s an important interview.”
“I’ll stay a few more days.” An Xiangdi looked over his schedule. Besides a magazine shoot he’d secured himself, there wasn’t much left this month.
“…Okay.” Shen Xiao almost brought up the issue with Royal Media but swallowed his words.
“Go on then.” An Xiangdi kicked him lightly.
Shen Xiao grabbed his foot and kissed the sole. “I’ll eat with you before I leave.”
Liu Qing and Xiao Gu went out to buy lunch, bringing back the sweet and sour fish An Xiangdi had been craving, along with all his favorite dishes.
An Xiangdi’s legs were still weak; he couldn’t even stand properly.
Shen Xiao carried him to the sofa, snapped apart the chopsticks, and asked, “Want me to feed you?”
“…No, I have hands,” An Xiangdi grumbled, already embarrassed about his wobbly legs.
Shen Xiao chuckled. “I was worried your hands might be weak too.”
At first, An Xiangdi didn’t get what he meant—until Shen Xiao turned slightly to show the claw marks on his bare back.
Bright red, shocking to see.
Cough… An Xiangdi quickly stuffed a piece of fish in his mouth and puffed up his cheeks to hide the embarrassment.
“Not sure which little wildcat did this.” Shen Xiao teased.
An Xiangdi glared at him. “You’re the wildcat.”
Shen Xiao grunted. “You’re the housecat—the one I’ve marked.”
Now even more flustered, An Xiangdi touched the back of his neck.
His gland was ringed with deep bite marks—no mercy had been shown. It was clear he’d been claimed. The thick brandy scent around him left no doubt.
An Xiangdi was usually glib, but Shen Xiao always managed to outplay him. Resigned, he devoured the sweet and sour fish.
Once they’d cleared the table, Shen Xiao checked the time. “I’m leaving now.”
“Mm.” An Xiangdi didn’t look at him, just stared at his phone filled with missed calls from Li Guan—no doubt more scolding.
“I’m leaving.” Shen Xiao said it again, approaching him stubbornly.
An Xiangdi finally looked up. “Go already. Hurry up.”
Shen Xiao hadn’t expected such a cold response. But one look at his face and he could tell—An Xiangdi was reluctant.
It made sense. After a permanent mark, an Omega naturally depended on their Alpha for a while. But An Xiangdi knew Shen Xiao was busy and couldn’t bring himself to ask him to stay.
“Text me when you get home. I’ll come back as soon as I’m done,” Shen Xiao said, brushing a kiss across his lips before finally leaving.
An Xiangdi stared at the now-empty room. The anxiety in his heart spread. His phone rang again like a curse. He turned it off and tossed it aside, burying himself back under the covers.
He slept until evening. Outside, Xiao Gu was still tirelessly knocking.
An Xiangdi ruffled his messy hair, dragged his sore legs to open the door.
“An—An Laoshi, dinner,” Xiao Gu said, holding up the food bags.
“Come in,” An Xiangdi said, turning back into the room.
Xiao Gu followed carefully. Even though he was a Beta and couldn’t smell pheromones, he didn’t need to—he could guess what had happened over the past seven days.
He’d been working for An Xiangdi for almost half a year, and never realized he was an Omega. And apparently, no one but Shen Xiao had ever known. How had he managed to keep it secret?
“What are you standing there for? Come eat.” An Xiangdi didn’t wait for him to plate the food, starting himself. When he saw Xiao Gu still frozen, he tapped his chopsticks on the bowl to hurry him up.
Xiao Gu snapped out of it with an “Ah!” and sat down to eat quietly, still reeling.
“Sit and eat. You’re not eating?” An Xiangdi didn’t want to be alone. Without his Alpha, he felt insecure. Xiao Gu was a Beta, safe, and made a decent background prop.
Completely unaware that he was being used, Xiao Gu was touched—An Xiangdi was so kind to him today—and quickly sat down to eat in tiny bites.
Halfway through, Xiao Gu cautiously said, “An Laoshi, Li-ge asked where you were. I told him you had something to take care of at home.”
“Mm.” An Xiangdi opened his phone and saw a message from Shen Xiao. He gave a faint smile.
“An Laoshi, you’re an Ome…” Xiao Gu didn’t get to finish.
An Xiangdi raised his head. “I’m an Alpha among Omegas.”
“Ah… right!” Xiao Gu grinned foolishly, utterly supportive.
