After Getting Pregnant, I Fought for a Divorce from My Alpha - Chapter 24
“No, what’s wrong with you all of a sudden…” Wei Yi originally wanted to complain, but when he saw An Xiangdi’s pale profile, he swallowed his words.
An Xiangdi had clearly rushed over too quickly and couldn’t recover for a moment. He half-leaned against the wall, dry heaving for quite a while.
“Are you okay?” Wei Yi couldn’t help but feel worried. He was used to seeing An Xiangdi as fearless and unshakable—this fragile state was a first.
“…I’m fine.” Gradually, the nausea faded, and An Xiangdi let out a breath. “Let’s go.”
“You sure you’re okay?” Wei Yi still wasn’t convinced and helped him forward, afraid something else might happen.
An Xiangdi found him annoying and naggy. “Shut up. Let’s go back.”
Wei Yi was immediately silenced. Remembering how An Xiangdi—an Alpha—had just helped him solve a big problem, he shrunk back like a turtle.
When they returned to the set, An Xiangdi noticed Zhao Zeyun was still there. But instead of standing in front of the camera, he was alone in a corner, eyes red.
As soon as Zhao Zeyun saw them walk in, he glared at An Xiangdi, his eyes wide with a look of defiance and unwillingness to back down.
Wei Yi grumbled, “Today I’ll make sure he gets a good taste of harsh reality!”
“Why do you look so pale?” Shen Xiao, who caught the faint sweet scent in the air, walked toward An Xiangdi.
“I’m fine.” An Xiangdi avoided the topic. “What’s the situation now?”
“We’re continuing as usual. Director Wang already told Zhao Zeyun to leave, but he refuses. His legs are his own—if he wants to stay here shamelessly, it’s a pain to deal with.”
Hearing that, Wei Yi was so angry he immediately wanted to charge over. “Outsiders aren’t allowed on set! I’m kicking him out!”
“Wait.” An Xiangdi pulled him back and looked at Shen Xiao. “What’s his connection to Teacher Ying?”
“He’s connected to Yang Chu—not really related to Ying Chong.” Shen Xiao didn’t mention how he had handled things.
“Using the tiger’s name to act like a fox?” An Xiangdi quickly put the pieces together. “I’ll go say a word to him.”
He walked straight up to Zhao Zeyun, looking down at him from above.
Zhao Zeyun lifted his chin. “An Xiangdi, I won’t lose to you!”
“If this is all just because of that overseas competition…” An Xiangdi smirked, “Honestly, I don’t remember anyone who’s never beaten me. If you hold such a grudge, instead of pulling these tricks, you’d be better off improving yourself. Wasting time on petty tactics means you’ll never learn anything from me.”
With that, An Xiangdi didn’t spare him another glance and walked back to Shen Xiao’s side. “Wei Courageous, didn’t you want to escort him out? Go ahead. Be gentle—if this ends up on Weibo’s trending list, it’ll be a hassle.”
“You got it!”
Not long after Wei Yi “gently” escorted Zhao Zeyun off the set, Film Emperor Ying Chong and Assistant Director Yang Chu returned one after the other.
Ying Chong looked about the same as usual—friendly and approachable. But Yang Chu had a gloomy expression, clearly having kicked an iron wall.
Director Wang Xingxiu pulled Yang Chu aside. An Xiangdi and the others only caught words like “terminate collaboration.” After that, Yang Chu packed up and left.
Putting aside the morning’s drama, today An Xiangdi was scheduled to shoot a scene with Wei Yi.
In The Yellowing Season, the He family’s five children all had distinct personalities. An Xiangdi played “He Sheng,” a quiet character with depression. An Xiao played “He Wan,” a fiery and hot-tempered girl. Ying Chong was the eldest brother “He Qiang,” who lacked warmth. And Wei Yi played the fourth child, “He Qiao,” a stingy, petty cheapskate.
Wei Yi wasn’t an actor to begin with, and the role was the complete opposite of his real personality—so struggling with the role was understandable.
Sure enough, once filming started, he got scolded—harshly.
“Wei Yi! I told you to play a stingy miser! Not a creepy pervert!” Director Wang Xingxiu shouted while slamming his rolled-up script on the table.
Wei Yi, being called a creepy pervert, just laughed it off. With Zhao Zeyun out of the picture, he was in a great mood and didn’t feel dejected at all from being yelled at.
An Xiangdi stood nearby, hands behind his back, zoning out while staring at the ceiling—wondering how he ever became friends with such an idiot.
“I’ll fix it right away. Don’t be mad,” Wei Yi grinned and ran over to massage Director Wang’s shoulders flatteringly. “How about you film Teacher Ying and Teacher Wang’s scenes first? I’ll go study in the corner.”
“Some people have potential. You, on the other hand, are a talent destroyer!” Wang Xingxiu smacked him on the head with the script and shooed him off like a fly.
Just as An Xiangdi was thinking about helping this “talent destroyer,” Shen Xiao beat him to it. “I’ll teach him. You sit.”
“Huh?” A random image of Wei Yi kneeling and calling someone “Daddy” popped into An Xiangdi’s head, and he chuckled. “Don’t torture him too much.”
“Don’t worry. He won’t die.”
Shen Xiao’s acting skills were better than his anyway, and Wei Yi was afraid of him, so An Xiangdi relaxed and sat back to watch.
At some point, all the incense in the set had been removed. As An Xiangdi sat and finished a small bag of bayberries, he started feeling drowsy and dozed off leaning against the side.
After teaching Wei Yi, Shen Xiao walked over and gently adjusted An Xiangdi’s head so it rested on his waist while he slept.
By the time An Xiangdi woke up, Ying Chong had nearly finished filming his scenes for the day.
“I’m heading out soon. Wei Yi should be ready to shoot now.” Shen Xiao knelt and gave him a light kiss.
An Xiangdi’s gaze drifted past him toward Wei Yi in the corner. “How did you teach him? That fast?”
Considering Wei Yi’s “talent,” An Xiangdi thought even a whole evening wouldn’t be enough.
“Threats.”
An Xiangdi didn’t press. “Oh.”
The two of them fell silent for a moment. Saying something like “I’ll miss you” felt too cheesy—they were basically an old married couple by now.
Eventually, Shen Xiao broke the silence first. “This time, it might be almost half a month before I can come find you again. Wait for my call tonight.”
“Okay. Safe travels.” An Xiangdi kept his head down, voice unreadable, his fingers fiddling with the small bayberry bag—some juice had gotten on his fingertips.
Shen Xiao gently pinched his pale, almost translucent earlobe before turning to leave the set.
After lunch break, Director Wang called Wei Yi over and, after confirming multiple times that he was ready, called An Xiangdi back in for filming.
The crew had expected more outbursts from Director Wang in the afternoon, but Wei Yi’s performance had improved drastically compared to before. Some scenes were even perfect in one take.
With productivity up, Director Wang didn’t lose his temper again.
As 6 p.m. approached, the day’s shoot wrapped up early.
While waiting for Xiao Gu to help him pack up, An Xiangdi saw Wei Yi running toward him, face lit with excitement.
“Xiangdi! Drinks? My treat!”
An Xiangdi looked at him, confused. “Why so happy?”
“Of course I am! I’m always this upbeat and positive!”
“Today… how did Shen Xiao teach you?” An Xiangdi narrowed his eyes, clearly not buying his excitement.
“He said…” Wei Yi looked around suspiciously before leaning in to whisper, “He said he’ll let me skip two episodes of Survival!”
An Xiangdi was about to speak when a whiff of citrusy Alpha pheromones drifted by, making him instinctively take several steps back.
He looked at Wei Yi differently. The orange scent wasn’t unpleasant and didn’t make him feel unwell, but it was unfamiliar.
Dr. Qiao had mentioned that he would gradually be able to perceive others’ pheromones—and that growing awareness of being an Omega was becoming more and more real.
Still… the brandy scent was the best.
“What’s with you?” Wei Yi sniffed the air. It seemed like he’d caught a faintly sweet Omega scent—but it vanished before he could figure it out.
“You actually believe him?” An Xiangdi finally asked.
“Of course…” Wei Yi had been so swept up in joy that he really believed it. But now, after An Xiangdi questioned it, he began to doubt.
Thinking back, An Xiangdi realized Shen Xiao had never explained how he got Wei Yi into the Survival show, or how he even managed to secure a regular spot. With that much influence, it seemed plausible—but deciding on a whim to skip two episodes felt a bit too powerful. He wasn’t convinced.
“Let’s go.” Seeing Xiao Gu rushing over with his things, An Xiangdi stood and headed for the nanny van.
Wei Yi quickly followed. “Hey, what do you mean? I shouldn’t trust Shen Xiao? Did I get played?”
“I didn’t say that,” An Xiangdi replied, glancing back. “Besides… won’t you know once you start filming?”
Still unsure, Wei Yi decided to forget it. After all, Zhao Zeyun—the troublemaker—had been removed today. That alone was worth celebrating. “Wanna get dinner? My treat.”
“No.” An Xiangdi refused without hesitation and was already standing by the van.
Wei Yi leaned on the door. “Come on, aren’t we bros?”
“Nope.”
Wei Yi choked on that response and almost lost his breath.
“I really won’t go. You eat alone.” With that, An Xiangdi climbed into the van. He was tired today, and with his Alpha gone, he felt a little unsafe—he just wanted to rest.
Xiao Gu followed him in and handed him a bag of sour jujubes Shen Xiao had left behind.
With Shen Xiao away, An Xiangdi didn’t sleep well that night. He woke up before dawn.
After tossing and turning without falling back asleep, he suddenly had the urge to look at himself in the mirror.
It had been nearly two months since he got pregnant. It wasn’t showing much yet, but his lower abdomen was clearly not the same—there was already a slight bulge.
An Xiangdi couldn’t help but worry. If his scenes for The Yellowing Season didn’t finish soon, then in another month or two, no amount of clothing would hide it. At that point, his Omega identity would be exposed for sure.
The ringtone shattered the early morning silence. An Xiangdi dropped the hem of his sleepwear and walked to the bed.
“Hello, Yao-ge?” It was a call from Yao Honglang.
“Are you at the set?” Yao’s voice was always flat and unreadable.
“I’m… at the hotel.”
“Stay inside for now. Reporters are probably already heading your way—you’re trending.”
There was a broadcast in the background—it sounded like Yao was at the airport. “See you in three hours.”
“…Huh?” An Xiangdi froze.
“You’ll have to explain something to me,” Yao continued. “How did you, as an Alpha… end up pregnant?”
He hung up.
Staring at the phone and hearing the beeping tone, An Xiangdi slowly lowered his hand and opened Weibo.
#AnXiangdiMorningSickness was sitting firmly at the top of the trending list—the topic had completely exploded.
